🕺🏻ABOUT DJ: DJ is a locomotive engineer for CSX Railroad since 1999. He has built dozens of layouts, gave presentations for model railroaders, is a UA-camr, licensed drone pilot, and a great father. - Наука та технологія
Wow! You are the Bob Ross of model railroading! I never had the courage to paint my own backdrop, but you make it look so easy!
Great analogy!
Wow, thanks!
You know,if that railroad engineer gig doesn’t work out,you have a helluva future as a model maker. You’re not an artist? Well that sure is some fine artistry you display.
Very appreciated.
Nice touch. Sometimes our eyes project details that appeal rather than precisely measuring a detail.
Totally!
Wow, you have tremendous patience and skill....great idea using reality for modelling...
DJ you are mad talended. This was a fun one to watch. Thank you so much for that lil feature! It means a lot. Keep up the fantastic work!!
Glad you enjoyed it. I learned so much from your videos and am inspired by them. Keep going!!
Very nice, DJ. I also appreciate you showing the backdrop painting.
Glad you like it
Good work DJ. The backdrop painting was very simple and effective. The blue you used was the right colour. So many backdrops I see are far too blue.
I learned the hard way. Plus Pittsburgh is grayer than most cities, lol.
Thanks for the background painting footage! This really helped me approach the problem economically and retain my sanity!
my sanity is questionable at times, lol.
DJ make sure to share the final results of the bridge what you have done so far is great. Keep having fun, Chris
You got it!
DJ, great job on the bridge structure. Your choices of material and proportions came out well.
Thanks a bunch!
“I’m going to go torture the cat, bye…”
Well that’s one way to sign off.🤣
That's fantastic. I spent last weekend trying to learn how to paint trees, and I just got frustrated with it. I am not an artist, and I really don't wish to become one :) But that simple technique with the sponge just made my day. Subscribed.
Glad I could help! Very appreciated!!
‘Looks pretty good’ he says, I say it looks great DJ. Great tips and techniques given here, thanks. Cheers
Thanks for watching!
You are such a great teacher. You make it so simple. I always learn from you. Thank you.
Wow, thank you!
As always great hints...thanks for sharing 😉
Thanks for watching!
Scratch building made simple, great job on this video D.J. Really nice work on the forced perspective too, that blue car is in for a big surprise when he gets off the bridge and runs into the backdrop wall at 45 scale miles per hour!
HAHAHAHA

Love these types of videos you do. This is what drew me to your channel in the first place. Keep it up. Looking good!
Thanks! Will do!
You done a good job there. Love the bridge
Thank you very much!

Thanks a lot!
Looks awesome DJ and love your art work. Take care - Kevin
Thanks Kevin!
DJ I have watched alot of you videos to give me ideas and inspiration to do some things on my layout. Right now I'm starting a bridge project and useing some of your tips to accomplish it. All you videos are awesome and filled with great tips and ideas to be used in all scales. Keep up the excellent videos can't wait to see more
Thanks more very soon!!
Now that's a great bridge to model, and it blends right into the backdrop! Great job DJ👍
Thanks a lot!
Cool video
cool project thanks !
Glad you like it!
"Go by what looks right". I completely agree. I tried doing things to exact scale and sometimes it just doesn't feel right to my eye, because in the real world we always look straight/up at the world, usually never down at it like we do on our model railroads. So if it doesn't look right, no matter how accurate, it just doesn't sit right in your mind. Great video, thanks for sharing!
100%
👍👍👍awesome talent
Many many thanks
u da man, man
If I can do this...anyone can do this.
Looks good 👍🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
Thanks 👍
Earlier period about half of my rodeways are rural and dirt. My longest bridge is only 6 inches.
Nice video! Bridge came out well! I’ve also noticed UA-cam removing subscribers in batches recently. Really weird! I’ve had 10 or 15 subs disappear in 1 second. Sometimes they come back, sometimes they don’t. I’ve even had an irl friend removed from my subs by UA-cam which confirms my suspicions. I’m glad to hear it’s not just my channel haha, but I’m sorry it’s happening to you as well!
Hello DJ nice creating skills I never done a brige before but it's awesome let's hope you can install street lights on it if you wanted to do a night time theme
I hope so too
Great job 👏 we need you in H.O lol
Maybe one day!
great job ! you used a little round sponge for the trees on the background. You also could try to tear a big sponge ,for washing your car, into pieces and use that instead, that way you will get all the trees in different shapes and some sticky fingers as well. The same method could be used for making clouds. Keep up the fantastic job ! thanks for the video !
Thanks for the tip!
Nice start on that layout. Is this another module?
You're demonstrating something I've noticed in the natural world. Reducing exactly to scale often doesn't look right. Going by eye is better, as that's how it'll be viewed.
Every day for my last four years with CSX I crossed that bridge to work. There was a nice model shop on the right if you went straight after crossing. I gave them all my rule books and RR maps before I left town for good.
The engines at the end are even nastier than I remember CSX power on that division. They look nicer the closer you get to Jacksonville. I wonder why.
The hobby shop closed in 2019. I bought a few things there myself.
how can you be a rivet counter if there is no rivets ? really looks good. forced perspective
I'm the 100th like
How come diesel R.R. Engine bellos out Gray or black smoke. While in motion. Your car and mine we can not do that.
Very nice how many jobs is this now engineer, architectural engineer and landscaper? How do you do it all?
lol
You could do twice as much if you could work at double-speed, like DJ can!
Don't forget to add some railfans on the bridge sidewalk videoing trains and annoying the train crews lol 😆👍
Cool idea
Which bridge is that in the video?
in Connellsville, Pa
@@djstrains
I knew it looked familiar.
I work in Connellsville PA 👍
Damn, I'm sorry but r u single?
I haven't heard from you in a long time, I thought you found someone else, lol.
