HI John. I was at a dog show with my Dobie. Took him out to go potty before we went to bed. There was a man dressed in camo about a hundred yards from me walking on the side walk. All of a sudden the man was about 5 ft away from me. I turned to see him (the man didn't see my doberman) and my Doberman ran at him from the bushes growling and barking. Needless to say the man ran screaming. I was so scared, I believe my dog saved my life. The next day at the show they had a soundness test for your dog. One of the events was walking your dog and a stranger coming out at you. My Doberman went out in front of me confronting the man, barking, growling, all his teeth showing. I had a hard time holding onto his leash. He passed the whole course with flying colors. The trainer came up to me and asked if I had him in schutzhund training I said No. He told me out of 26 dobies that day only 5 made it, my boy being #5. The trainer said my boy was the most impressive. Wanted to know the breeder of my boy. I was so proud of him, he got half of my steak that night. I miss him everyday. But of course I have had 2 dobes after he passed and each one is different. I ❤️ this breed with my whole heart. In my life I have had 5 dobermans. I have a 2 1/2 yr old now.
Hello friend. 🙋🏻♂️ I believe the word you are looking for are "schutzhund training," a.k.a. "protection dog training" or "IGP" - Internationale Gebrauchshunde Prüfungsordnung (translation from German: International Utility Dog trial regulations).
People use to say to me show dogs aren't protective. I beg to differ. I have had a few occasions being at dog shows where you come across incidents, he never failed to protect me. I had a friend, who was attacked going into her hotel room. Her Doberman was inside the room, jumped thru the window, attacked the man and kept him there til the police came and arrested him. Her dobe had cuts, luckily none to serious that we took care of. Chances you take, in places all over the country you no nothing about. Thank God my friend was OK. Can't say that about her attacker. He was bit up pretty bad.
My now passed European Doberman boy always protected me. He always stood in front of me as I was standing and keeping an eye out at our surroundings. He also knew how to stop that behaviour when I said so and I never trained him on that. We also used to go on hikes in the woods and never ran into trouble. One day we (me and both my dobies, other female) were walking and playing around (off leash) when suddenly my boy stopped and refused to move forward. He kept whining at me and trying to go on the opposite direction and when I didn't move with him he came to me and started jumping on me and pushing me backwards (HE didn't jump on people, ever). I didn't see or hear anything out of the ordinary but decided to listen to my boy and we left. On the way home he stuck on my leg like glue and kept looking back. Later that day I heard from my neighbour that there had been bear sitings near that area where we usually walked.. My baby-boy was my hero ❤❤❤
We recently picked up our new female Sullie. I had taken her out to go potty before bed in the vacant lot across the street. A guy walking down the street with his hood up was headed our way. To my surprise, because she was only 9 weeks old, she sat right at my feet growling at him, and watching his every move. She will be 15 week in a couple of days. She is our 6th doberman and we will never have any other breed!
I got my first Doberman in 1978 when I graduated from high-school. I am now 65 and am on #9 and can honestly say that this is the only breed for me. I have so many stories good mostly but also DCM stories. Currently we have a 6 and 7 year old that are on 200 acres, never on a leash. The best dogs ever!
Best breed ever. Never want any other. Currently own Dobermans #3 and #4 who are 9 1/2 & 3 1/2. I’ve had Dobies for 22 years and they truly are the most lovable loyal family members ❤
For all your reasons and more.... is why I've had dobermans for 18 years...I now have 6 dobermans and more recently, started breeding on a small scale. They are such a majestic, intelligent and elegant breed, full of courage, passion and love.
I would say in the beginning of owning a dobie I definitely struggled. I moved to a completely new state and I worked high stress job. So I didn’t spend nearly enough time with my dobie like I would have wanted. Here’s my story. My wife and I had to pick up my car at 10pm in the summer. We took our 7 month old boy with us as a deterrent, as we didn’t know who was dropping off my car and the driver wanted the payment in cash. We get to the delivery point which was a gas station. There were about 15 guys huddled in a circle smoking and drinking about 40 yards away. On the other side of this parking lot was the driver with my car. As we watched the driver unload my car, some shirtless guy from the group begins walking towards us very aggressively. Zuko had been watching the driver the whole time, but as shirtless guy got closer he stepped on something crunchy. Zuko turned his huge muzzle locked on target completely snapped. He used his newly found big dog bark directed to the strange shirtless man. The guy did the fastest 180 and sped walked back the group of guys. Even the delivery driver jumped. That night, I realized what it meant to own a Doberman.
Thank you for sharing, John! After 30 years of Doberman ownership, I have so many stories to tell that I do not even know where to start. Since childhood Dobermans have been on my favorite dog breed list and after I personally had interaction with Dobermans, I knew this was my breed and has been ever since. I love everything about them, their owner-focus and loyalty, their intelligence and trainability, and them being a true companion and protector. I think this is the best "package deal" you can get in a dog😀😉
You're absolutely right. I will always have doberman now. Seigfried is about 1yro, a rescue, my first doberman, and they are truly not like any other dog. I've had other breeds and they are truly top tier. I just don't think I can live without one now.
I once was on a off leash walk with Diesel, we were doing some obedience drills in a vacant lot when a boxer came after me. With its owner screaming, Diesel got between me and the boxer, let it know that it was not going to get to me. Diesel was a very gentle boy, but in that instance he meant business. We lost him almost 3 mo ago to DCM, I miss him so much 😢
My big boy was a puppy when my daughter was expecting. He bonded with my granddaughter before she was born. He was such a great member of our family. He will be missed forever.
I am always wanting to share this content/channel and he so deserves all the thumbs up. Before we had a doberman I did NOT like them at all as I did not find them to be attractive. Especially with cropped ears. However, after the family chose to get a female rescue who was about 3 at the time...I find myself recommending dobs to everyone! even if they dont want a dog lol Their personality is A+ and after 6 years with this doberman...I thank GOD for Cayenne and all the joy she brings. She is black rust and the ears are not cropped. She does get spooked by some noises but for the most part has been a blessing. THX for all the great content!
I have always opened our home to dobermans in need. My latest pair are a hoot! From two different situations they are best buddies and firmly committed to our family and home. Their antics are hilarious and their love is heartfelt ❤🐾
I blame you! I have been watching your channel since day one and it was the way both Cooper and Arlo were around your babies that really got me to go searching for my Dobbie. That 'Velcro Dog' statement is so true. Don't feel too embarrassed by your initial videos! Its how your intent comes across that you are succeeding.
Honestly we have a Rottie but you convinced me to switch with Ollie and never looked back. I love the product and the customer service support is on point. Thanks brother
My wife and I got our first doberman, Missy, almost 2 years before our first child (son) was born. Never knowing what reactions will be, we did take some precautions to insure safety for all. One of those precautions was to modify the nursery door into a Dutch door, or California door, that can have the lower section closed and the top open to hear the baby during the night. About a week after bringing the baby home, I got up in the middle of the night (probably to pee) and I didn't see our doberman in her bed, or any of the usual places. As I approached the nursery I heard the low guttural growl from inside the nursery as my footsteps approached. As soon as my face appeared over the door to identify myself, Missy wagged her tail and calmed right down. She had leaped over the lower section of the door and was curled up in front of the crib to be with the baby and vigilantly guard him as he slept. We knew then that our doberman had accepted our son as a family member and she would protect him for as long as she lived.
I [do not] have a dog, but I LOVE Doberman Pinschers......hands down!!!🥰🔥🤗👌 So, thank you, Mr. Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann, Tax Collector, in Germany, for creating this Man-Made-Masterpiece, the Doberman Pinscher, in [1890].😍👏👍😎😘💪🏋♂️☝️😀❤️❤️❤️
We've only had her about 18 months, but bringing a random kitten into the house as a spur of the moment occurrence, our dobie was instantly attached. The dobie was grooming the kitten immediately and was snuggling up with the kitten on the couch four hours after the kitten arrived. The kitten came over in a cat carrier when the neighbor brought her by and we planned to introduce them through doors or a gate and all this stuff. The kitten bounced out of the carrier, tail straight up, walked right through the slats of the dog gate to go boop the doberman on the nose. They are besties and often partners in crime around the house. Super high energy, needy, smart, occasionally destructive and the most loving dog I've ever had. Keep them exercised, give them things to do, or they will find things to do but they are extraordinarily loyal.
I've had Dobermans since 1992. All have been rescues. All of them, after being walked around the perimeter of the front yard and told "This is your yard. Stay in your yard", stayed (patrolled) within the perimeter of the yard defending it against sketchy people and welcoming trusted people, always off leash.
We have had two weimaraners which are part doberman and have a lot of their traits. We could go anywhere with them and they just wanted to be with you. Would never dream of leaving you. Just your little shadow. Being away with you is their heaven. Pack outing. The only downside to the breed are lymphomas. Lost both weimaraners because of them so decided to get a doberman instead. Then learnt they got the trait from doberman genes who also have the problem. Was so disappointed as couldn't face all that surgery and heartbreak again. Now have an Old English Sheepdog male who is a great dog but miss my super smart shadow. Wendy from the UK 🇬🇧
Wow! Taking the channel to the next level, John. I started thinking my memories of my tao Dobes who have passed and even shed a tear or two. Boy, do I miss them.
Wow, thanks so much, Suzanne! Really appreciate that positive feedback and so glad to be able to jog some positive memories you had with your two Dobies. No doubt you miss them desperately and hold them dear to your heart.
I hiked with my last Dobie a lot off leash. He never strayed far from me, if he was not within my site I would yell out “come” and he would immediately come to me then sit by my side. He was awesome .
Awesome vid u sharing ur own experiences with Cooper n Arlo !!! Refreshing to see ur experiences with ur Dobies rather than featuring others. Seems closer n more relatable ur experiences. Kudos for this vid. Miss seeing Arlo in ur vids like earlier ones. Hopefully we'll see him again one day. Peace
We have a 15 months old intact Doberman male. If he is loose, he will take off but come back, walking on the leash? Getting dragged. While we work on leash training every single day. The puberty fase is so hard.. Learn him a new command? Only have to do it twice. Walking on the leash without pulling? No, it's hard. But i have to say he is amazing, when it is dark outside and i walk him he is protective. He loves to snuggle and cuddle, love to hang out with him! ❤
Iv been doing my research on dobermanns and My wife and I have decided that this is the best dog 🐕 for our family with 3 kids ❤️ iv always wanted a dobie had a boxer and loved that boy unfortunately Cancer took him from me 😢...Im looking forward to this journey with this breed..love your content ❤❤❤
Best dogs. I miss my 1st. He was my best friend. RIP Zues i love you buddy. We'll go for a walk one day again. Pretty sure he'll be waiting for me for that long over due walk. ❤
I took long hikes with my 2nd rescue Doberman, off-leash, just the 2 of us. We went for miles. She was always ahead of me, coming back to make sure I was OK. More than once , she would be 2 or 3 switchbacks above me, would stop & stare intently down the trail at something. The something was a man, silent & unknown to me, but she knew. They would turn & quickly leave. RIP, my Justy.
I have had two of them that I trained myself. They are the best dogs.I have great stories too. then I volunteered with Danes in Distress, in Canada.I got a Boxer-Dane cross.Trained her like the dobes and people loved her. She was as loyal as a dobe, funny in her ways and a great guard dog to me. My three year old granddaughter walked her all over the place.People would slow down driving by them and told her she needed a saddle for the dog. Queenie was a dog to my granddaughters. I let her be a dog. The same with my Dobes. Training smart dogs is wonderful. It takes time but the important thing is consistence. Welland Ontario Canada
You're so welcome, Jorge! Please send a message to support@dobermanplanet.com to receive some great breeder resources. Blessings to your family as well!
I shared space with several Dobermans... ruined me for other K9 breeds. So trainable, amazingly so, the best friends I ever knew. I don't think I ever owned a Doberman, the Doberman owned me.
This is so beautiful. I want one! It would be my first dog. Thank you thank you. I think you are amazing and shows in what you are doing. I love to see you expressing your passion in this life. I am now in love with Dobermans. -question - where can I get one? Who is your favorite breeder ? I want American, like you. Thanks and blessings to you and your family.
You're very welcome, Jorge! Please send a message to support@dobermanplanet.com to receive a list of resources for breeders. Blessings to you and your family as well!
Congratulations on your success, since that also leads to the success of other Dobie owners as they learn from you, and the success of the breed itself. I hope one day I'll too have the privilege of being a Dobie owner❤
I started with the American. But have been switching over to the euro. I now have 1 American remaining and 5 euros.... and I'll be getting 3 more (the 2 females will be getting bred before i have them imported). They are fabulous as a breed!
We had a Frisbee type toy with a circle cut out of the center. Ranger learned how to toss this in the air and catch it on his snout. He kept himself busy for hours.
The latest "tricks". Skittles speaks, shushes, sings and will use her indoor voice. Indoor voice is great and she's learned where to use it. Now she's learned to whisper. Her way of getting attention is with a ball. She will pile on tennis balls as a reminder that she has want. "Shhiowme" and she touches a handle, leash, bowl gestures to an area to clarify her desire. When she's impatient she puts the ball in hand with intensity proportionate to her sense of urgency. The new twist. "Inaminute" because everything was becoming push the ball in the hand. Inaminute, start a 15 minute timer, timer goes off she gets premium treat (pigs ear). I slip on my shoes "Shhoowme". Skittles gives me the side eye, leaves the pig's earand she shows me then she gets to finish the pig's ear (about 4 to 6 minutes). Three months later I use inaminute she goes over and touches the bag of pigs ears. This started a Dobe Debate inaminute touch bag, touch the bag wimper, then cry and a little foot stamp. OK, We make Dobe Deal she sits and shakes on it. Started a stop watch (same motion as a timer). 17 minutes later there's a ball in my lap.
My European Dobie doesn't necessarily stay with me when she's off leash. She will disappear to chase rabbits and deer. Aside from that, she does try to keep me in sight.
These are some amazing stories! We have a Husky/sheperd mix(girl) and want a second dog. Your videos inspired me to get a Doberman. What breeder did you get Cooper from? Thank you!
...I am in Canada and have been looking to have another adult Doberman for some time. I'm now seventy-four and I've had five Dobermans. I miss having a Doberman so much. Do you know of any in B.C.?...Love your posts...
My first dobie is soon to be 10 month old and is 72cm (WHY xD) in height and 34kg. I havent had any problem with his behaviour at all, he is playful and goofy, but also got a very high drive. 2 hours of walking/being outdoors daily plus protection or search for around 30min/day. :) The only downside so far is that hes a kneedog, and they are frikking hard as a rock to cuddle with :( haha
Hi sir. My name is Reginald. Im from Montreal, Canada. I previously owned a doberman, but now after 6 yrs that he passed, im thinking more and more about getting another one. But this time, i want two. I want two males...is there a difference between getting two puppies from the same litter or two puppies from different ones? Thank you, love your work! #dobermanforlife
🌝🌌Hi John. I've had 2 girl Dobies, 14 and 11 years. I was walking in the dark at night in the neighborhood when I saw a Dobie walking her owner. I called out across the street, "Can I meet your Dobie?" She said "Yes." So I crossed the street and stopped about 5 yards away from them, kneeled down and let the Dobie come to me. She barked at me for 120 seconds straight, John, but I was NOT even remotely intimidated and I kept my hands held out below her muzzle to sniff me if she wanted to. I kept telling her, "Good girl. Yes! Yes, Ma'am! You're a good watchdog." Again, after at least 120 seconds of barking all over me, in my face, this black girl Dobie FINALLY stopped barking at me and then let me pet her and talk gently to her. I told her owner "she is being a good girl and is protecting you. I've had 25 years' experience with Dobies. I'd be concerned if Princess didn't 'yell' at me in order to protect you." That's my Dobie-story, and it even wasn't 1 of my girls, John. 🙋🏻♂️😀
That's a great Dobie story, Matthew! Thanks for sharing that with us. It's cool to see how she knew what her job was (to protect) but after she saw you weren't a threat to her owner and her owner wasn't alarmed, she eased up and let you pet her. They are very smart!
Maybe try again! It comes up on this end. But here is the link in case it still isn't popping up: ua-cam.com/video/HS1e2qEWxK8/v-deo.htmlsi=AfAnHei6IFemj4E-
@@DobermanPlanet it's a puppy actually I gives my vet perfered food. but, when ever he enters gardan he eats the sand or stones I trained a lot but doesn't work.some time I got frustrated 🥲..
FYI, exactly zero dogs will run away from you off leash unless it’s cooped up and on leash constantly. Start them as pups. Go places without cars, let them out and watch. I PROMISE. You have to watch them more as pups because they may get disoriented, but I promise with my life. They will never leave their pack. DONT chase after them or you’re hosed. And for the love of all things holy, don’t yell at them if they don’t come right away. They will be confused about what you’re yelling about and tend not to come back right away. Just do your thing. Trust. Try getting in your car and driving away if you don’t believe me. They will chase the shit out of your car. They’re not letting you go. Unless there’s a cat… then you need to make sure they don’t get lost. They’re still coming back, but not until they’re done chasing that cat.
Can't wait to get my first one... I've wanted her since I'm 5 years old and I'm 53...soon come... Rastafari Sellasie1 ❤️🌱🌱🌱🔥🔥🔥🐕🐕🐕🐕🐱🐰🦁🦁🦁 blessings to all creation 🕊️🕊️🕊️
Most people should not own dogs, even less should own Dobermans. 5 month old Mouse was found earlier last week, dumped in a fire zone, with a botched homemade cropped job, ears had to be removed because of infection. Luckily, she was adopted right away but the rise of Dobies becoming popular is NOT a good thing.
Oh that is so sad! Shame on the person who treated her that way. Many don't understand how to handle things a Doberman needs. The best we can do is educate!

Ty,look forward to the new videos!!!!
Great!! So happy to hear that!
I've had Dobermans since 1992. All have been rescues. All of them, after being walked around the perimeter of the front yard and told "This is your yard. Stay in your yard", stayed (patrolled) within the perimeter of the yard defending it against sketchy people and welcoming trusted people, always off leash.
That is great! Dobermans are such smart dogs, and it sounds like you had the cream of the crop patrolling your yard!
What a wonderful video! Thank you for sharing!
You're welcome!
My European Doberman likes to wander off outdoors has a hard time listening to recalls. But is a very protective dog. Barks at people and dogs.
Mine European has a mind of her own. And listens most of the time…. But sometimes it’s just not happening. mostly in the house and food is near.
I hiked with my last Dobie a lot off leash. He never strayed far from me, if he was not within my site I would yell out “come” and he would immediately come to me then sit by my side. He was awesome .
That's a wonderful feeling!
10:08 dog’s best moment ❤
Love the Doberman master series I am learning a lot thanks 👍
Wonderful to hear! Keep following along!
Donyou exercise him enough? I mean energy draining. Get him enough of physical exercise and then work on training
Oh so sweet. Sorry to hear about your loss of Zeus, but believe you'll see him again someday!
@@jgilliam1979 He absolutely will be there waiting for you.
What a great protector Justy was - and very smart! So sorry to hear about your loss of her.
I just love your channel. Thank you for your work
You're very welcome, Cathy! Happy to do it!
I love your channel. Thank you for starting it.
This comment warms the heart! Thanks so much, Gail!
You're so welcome, Jorge! Please send a message to support@dobermanplanet.com to receive some great breeder resources. Blessings to your family as well!
Thank you I still don’t have my Velcro yet but dream someday! ♥️🙏♥️ Love to you and your family.
Thanks so much for your kind words! Certainly hope someday you are able to have the experience of owning one as well.
I shared space with several Dobermans... ruined me for other K9 breeds. So trainable, amazingly so, the best friends I ever knew. I don't think I ever owned a Doberman, the Doberman owned me.
Ha - great way to put it!! They really are a step above the rest.
Such a fantastic video! Love your adventures. They are so special, I would love to adopt a Doberman so bad. 😍
I love the Doberman
Not the US breed but the Eastern European breed
I started with the American. But have been switching over to the euro. I now have 1 American remaining and 5 euros.... and I'll be getting 3 more (the 2 females will be getting bred before i have them imported). They are fabulous as a breed!
We had a Frisbee type toy with a circle cut out of the center. Ranger learned how to toss this in the air and catch it on his snout. He kept himself busy for hours.
What caused your Arlo to be more dominant than Cooper? Your thoughts
My first dobie saved me from being attacked by a neighbors Akita that had been on the loose (mistreated) for weeks
Really enjoy videos
lol imagine being surprised a Doberman doesn’t leave ya off leash….its a Dobie not a huskie! But I get it- first time for everything!
Nice
Best dogs in the world
My European Dobie doesn't necessarily stay with me when she's off leash. She will disappear to chase rabbits and deer. Aside from that, she does try to keep me in sight.
These are some amazing stories! We have a Husky/sheperd mix(girl) and want a second dog. Your videos inspired me to get a Doberman. What breeder did you get Cooper from? Thank you!
What pack is that you had on Cooper?
...I am in Canada and have been looking to have another adult Doberman for some time.

I wish I could leave mine off leash! At 11.5 years old, he will still follow his nose!
If your dobbie such a good dog , did you ever thinking pass down the gene?
No video in the corner at 5:58, maybe on my end?
Maybe try again! It comes up on this end. But here is the link in case it still isn't popping up: ua-cam.com/video/HS1e2qEWxK8/v-deo.htmlsi=AfAnHei6IFemj4E-
Thank you!! & I love your dogs and videos!😇 Preparing for a doberman in the near future and have been learning a lot
Hi

Is there possibly hes attacks me ?
Thanks
I want to get one I found 500 what the link of test to see if they are healthy? And also are they good with small dogs?
Mine scares with the look only. Might lick to death 😂
Hahaha! A lover, not a fighter.
How to slove sand eating problem 😢
Have you checked with your vet to make sure it's not a deficiency in nutrients in food? This could be a sign that a need a change of diet is needed.
@@DobermanPlanet it's a puppy actually I gives my vet perfered food. but, when ever he enters gardan he eats the sand or stones I trained a lot but doesn't work.some time I got frustrated 🥲..
🙌🏽💪🏽🤙🏽
You are 100percent right.
❤
A lot like a GSD...
