  • Let's take a quick look at one of the earliest known autobiographies of a woman. The story of Catalina de Erauso, a nun who escaped her convent and went on adventures as a male solider in South America.

Well done! This will really help me to know what to look for as I read Lieutenant Nun's story for my Colonial Latin American History class.

I'm from Spain and didn't know about this woman -nor the films. I'm sure things were embellished in the book, but most of it has to be based on facts, right? I mean we can all agree there did exist a woman who was almost a nun at 15, who later on in her 30s did become a nun, and who killed men left and right along the way in another continent! Plus, let's not forget the pope gave her permission to be a man, for Pete's sake! What an incredible story!
