MJ fans Know this commercial but the UA-camr said that we like to pretend that MJ never failed and was perfect at all times! I am like If u are a fan of MJ then you know MJ was not perfect and had a lot of failures. THe only people that think MJ was perfect are LBJ fans because they are constantly trying to prove he was not perfect.
Matter of fact the reason I became a Michael Jordan fan is that I saw him lose to the Detroit Piston in 1990 ecf. I Saw him struggling and still try to win the game even though it was over. MJ heart and determination is what made me become a fan not because he was always winning!

There is a reason most of these rare MJ no shows get lost as a footnote in history..
first, because they're just that, pretty rare. Everybody has an off night every now and then, but for MJ one of the many reasons that make him the greatest is he's arguably had the fewest and far in between playoff blunders. That's why although you can rarely find a bad playoff game from Jordan, you'll even more rarely find a bad series from Jordan. Dude averages 33-6-6 on 49% in his whole playoff career.
Second, and perhaps more importantly, outside of the 95 ecsf series against the Magic, he won all of these series that were mentioned, and arguably dominated in most of them when looking at the totality of the series, despite one bad game. So, of course the one bad game will get lost as a footnote when they win the series, and Jordan for the most part played well or dominated for most of the series. Which is related to the first point.
For example, some of the series that were mentioned in the video like 89 ecsf against Knicks he averaged 36-9-8 on 55% shooting. 92 ecsf against the Knicks 31-6-4 on 48%. Hell, even the only series he lost in 95 series against the Magic, he averaged 31-7-4 on 48%.
I will say though if there is one series (out of 37 playoff series he's ever played) where I could say he had a "bad" series relative to his standards is the 96 finals against the Sonics. 27-5-4 on 42 fg%. But again, at the end of the day, no one can count this against him or his legacy because 1) he won and 2) although it was not up to his standards, he was still the best player on the court in that series.

And in 95, when he came back, the Bulls were going nowhere with a 34-31 record and then with no preseason and no professional level basketball for 1.5 years, he took them to a 47-35 record, beat Charlotte rather handily in the first round and then really could have won the second round series against the Magic but the Magic was just the better team that season. Jordan had bad games just like anyone, but he always shot the ball until he had 20 points and the Bulls always shut down the other team defensively, so it didn't matter if his shot wasn't falling, the other team's shot wasn't either. It's so heroic how he always 'gets his'. So much so that many fans took to calling a player soft when they stop shooting the ball for any reason, yet in the same vein call it statpadding for others. They expect the same from players like LeBron and Curry but they actually don't statpad anywhere near as much as MJ did, instead it's cause to villify that player instead. Jordan has the highest usage percentage in NBA history to match his 10 scoring titles and his stans have the nerve to call any other player a statpadder or even hold other players to that same standard subconsciously without the seeing the blatant double standard. They need videos like these shoved down their throats every day, not more of the same garbage about how Kyrie and LeBron are the spawn of satan because they have internet.

@@alecboulton3537 you do realize training for baseball and basketball are two completely different regiments right? And to break your cycle to then comeback and redo that cycle randomly is a transition that’s impossible for almost any athlete, the fact that he made a comeback in general is an insane feat on its own, lebron’s melt down was just a pure lack of mental toughness

@@HoodieDT correct baseball to basketball ball bodies are completely different. Mj played pick up games but that's entirely different than fierce competition. The closest thing would be a player being out almost 2 years injured then coming back with 20+ games before the playoffs to get ready. Even then the difference in muscles and builds would show. So it's not really comparable.

Rick Barry made a very good point which is you cannot compare different position players in terms of who is better. It is who is better at their position. I also think it is silly to compare different eras. That said, Barry picked his starting five, MJ was on it, LBJ was not (he had Wilt at center and put Bill Russell as his power forward; not sure who he had if people were being picky but it was not James). I do think it amazing that when polls are taken with fans, MJ is overwhelming considered the GOAT, twenty years after he stopped playing and almost 25 years after he left the Bulls. He also got the strongest ovation at the recent all star game which was IN CLEVELAND. Bird and Magic brought the NBA back from extinction but MJ made it a world wide sports powerhouse, second only to soccer. He stayed with the same team for most of his career and never left to go looking for championships by creating a super team. All right, well let’s see a compilation of LB’s chokes.
