    Nice video. I was trying to get mine out and I had no idea it had that many screws to get it out.

    I get an annoying humming noise coming from ours, our battery started drain now as well. I wonder if a bad hvac control unit would cause the battery drainage?

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  9 місяців тому

      It shouldn’t drain the battery, but stranger things have happened. If it’s making a humming noise there is something wrong with it and I would recommend replacing it, they aren’t super expensive. If you do, let us know if it fixes the battery draining issue!

    Do u think it needs to be changed if the control is hot and only two glow in the dark but it still works

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  10 місяців тому

      If the control is hot, it could be a safety issue, even if not, it’s probably not going to last much longer and should be replaced.

    Question my control lights on the rear knobs in my 2015 traverse are out , is it easier just replacing this whole panel or can you show a video how to replace the bulbs ?

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  3 місяці тому

      The bulbs are LEDs that are integrated into the circuit card and not separately replaceable. If you want the lights to work, you will need to replace the whole control unit.

    After you change the part did that solve the problem , and it start to cooling ???

    • @NateFixesIt

      I had two issues, the controller was bad and the rear blend door actuator failed. I suspect the bad controller burnt out the blend door actuator. I have a separate video for the blend door. Replacing both got everything going again.

    My rear ac just won't turn on ! Do I have to change that too?

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  3 місяці тому

      It could be a number of things, the controller, the blend door actuator in the rear, a clogged expansion valve, a burnt fuse, etc. You will likely need to do some diagnostics before starting to replace parts.

    My control unit is still functioning, I just had one of the knobs break. Is it possible to just replace one of the knobs? I don't need a whole new control unit.

      I just checked and the knobs on mine don’t seem to be removable. You may need to replace the whole control unit.

      @@NateFixesIt Technically it's not the whole knob, just the part that shows what the knob does. I am going to try to add pictures.

    There's a high pitch frequency coming from mines. Could I just unplug it since no one is ever back there or would that cause something else not to work?

    Hi! I have the 07 Outlook, with the separate radio/climate controls in the back. They light up but I do not feel any air coming out from the rear air vents. Would replacing this specific part fix or would it be the rear blower motor?

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  Рік тому +1

      I would start by checking your fuses. After that, it could be either the blower or the control. To troubleshoot, you could use a multimeter to see if you are getting power out of the control unit or to the blower fan. To see how to access the blower fan, you can check out my video for replacing the HVAC blend door actuator in my Buick, it’s quite a process, but should be similar for your vehicle.

    How do you trouble shoot down to the control

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  3 місяці тому

      First check your fuses. Do you have heat and cooling both places? For me, the rear blend door actuator was burnt out and when I replaced it, the controller kept pushing it to the same position. I tried switching the controller across actuators to narrow things down. What is the issue you are having?

  • @MTGIRL784
    @MTGIRL784 2 роки тому +1

    Good day and thank you for your informative video It was very helpful. However I was wondering if you would do a little bit more troubleshooting with me. The fuse is not blown and I changed this out with help from your video. The controls still are not working they light up but they don't do anything. Any thoughts?

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  2 роки тому

      Hard to troubleshoot from a distance, but the next things I would check to see is if the electrical signals are getting from the controller to the HVAC unit at the passenger side rear of the vehicle. The fan is the obvious thing to be able to tell if it’s working or not, but you can also listen for the blend door actuator and mode door actuator to see if they are responding to the controls. If the blend and mode door actuators are working, but the fan is not, I would guess it’s a bad fan. If nothing is working, I would guess a wiring issue. Check out this video to see where they are and what the actuators should sound like:

    Enjoyed the video great detail! My 2013 Enclave the rear fan switch/on-off just stopped working and the rear won’t come on. Do you think the switch is just bad? I would hate to buy one and that wouldn’t be the cause…Your input would be Very helpful thanks!!

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  2 роки тому

      First, try turning the fan up to full. There is usually a resistor that is in the circuit for lower fan settings that slows the fan down. Those can burn up and take all but the highest fan setting off line. If the fan works on high and nothing else, replace the resistor. Next check your fuses, and try replacing the fan fuse, you can even swap it with a different fuse with the same rating to test it. If that doesn’t fix it, it could be the switch or the fan. Replacing the fan would be a lot more work (see this video for how to access
      ua-cam.com/video/S_JB5KGEykM/v-deo.html), I would start with switch unit. If you have a multimeter, you could try testing the control unit, but I’m not sure if that will be possible with the wire harness and no other connection points. Good luck!

  • @rere559

    My controls work in the back of my traverse but they don’t light up do you think that’s the fuse? If so is it in the vehicle or under the hood?

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  2 роки тому

      I think that there is just one fuse that protects all of the functions in the rear HVAC; so if it’s working, the fuse is probably okay and the light being burnt out is probably a different issue. It could be that the LEDs that back light the controls burnt out or a wiring issue somewhere. That said, checking the fuses is an easy and inexpensive thing to try. The owners manual for your vehicle should have a diagram that tells you exactly where all of your fuses are and what they control. Check your manual, but I highly suspect there will be only one fuse and it’s under the hood like it is in my Enclave (see 15:20 of this video ua-cam.com/video/S_JB5KGEykM/v-deo.html ). Pull the fuse, verify every thing is off, and then swap in a different fuse of the same rating to see how everything works. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    Natefixeslt i have a similar problem but the rear only blows cold no heat and mines is a 2010 travers and its digital with push buttons could this be the same issue.its at 106kmiles? Thanks

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  10 місяців тому

      Could be the same issue as mine. However, the first thing I would check is my engine coolant levels for the engine radiator. Hot coolant is what provides the heat to your cabin. If the coolant is low, you may not be getting heat because of that. If you have the full coolant, it could be the control module, a heater core, or a blend door actuator. To diagnose, You can try this: turn off the A/C system and start the engine, let it warm up to normal running temp and crawl under the passenger rear corner of the car just in front of the bumper. There are 4 pipes and hoses going up through the floor pan. The A/C lines should be at ambient temp and the heater hoses should be hotter. If you warm it up all the way you should be able to hold on to the heater hoses for about a second with both hoses the same temp. If the same then you need a blend door actuator or control unit. If temps are different then it's a heater core. This video shows how to replace the blend door actuator:

    Having trouble with my rear control panel on my gmc acadia the the fan works in the front but not in the rear the lights on rear control won't light up and fan don't work on the rear

    • @NateFixesIt
      @NateFixesIt  2 роки тому

      Check your fuses for the rear first (I suggest putting a new fuse in, not just looking at the old fuse as it can be difficult to see a failure some times). If they are fine, it could be the control panel.

    This car seats 7 so you most likely have kids which is why you bought it. So if you value your sanity on a road trip then disconnect this control panel. If you are like me then the last thing you want on a road trip is for your two ADHD kids to be messing with the radio volume and the climate controls. Do yourself a favor and watch this video to learn how to disconnect the unit and then put it back together.
