- One of my all time favourite RC cars. The Tamiya XV01. Built for tight turns and quick pull offs . How did this chassis do?
The track is currently very dry so grip is at a premium.
Tamiya XV01.
4WD RC kit rally car.
Stock motor . Ride heightened. Bearings throughout. Toyota Celica lexan body
Great stuff Dom! Great to see it towards the top of the leaderboard where it belongs 👍🏻
Yeah . I think it would probably be top of the track was damp like way back in the year . Let alone any mods 👍
Hi there Dom, a great run by the stock XV-01. Two things I noticed immediately, one, the smoothness of the car and two, the control / predictability. An awesome looking body on that chassis too. Best wishes to you and the family 😊
Thanks John . Yup you nailed it . An absolute joy to drive . Thanks for watching and ATB to you and your family mate 😊👍
Well that was a treat for sore eyes, Dom! Such a gorgeous looking car with the Celica shell, and the chassis certainly coped with the Dusty 8 in style! As you said, track conditions came into play but I'm sure it could take the lead if there was less loose sand. A great performance all the same. Cheers, mate! :))
Thanks mate . It’s always a joy to drive this car . Thanks for watching mate . 😊👍
The car looks great and placed well! Nice driving Dom!👍😊
Thanks mate 😊👍
Xv01 did great! 👍😊
It did. mate 😊👍 thanks bud 😊👍
Delightful mate!
You could clearly see its rally origins shining through on the dusty 8!
Funnily enough, I got to drive an XV01 for the first time ever tonight!
A mate I used to rc with back in the eighties has just got back into the hobby and built one recently.
I was quite taken back by the level of control that was on tap when flicking the rear end out, and by how smooth it ran.
It really does perform like an actual rally car, and a joy to drive.
Must get one of these for the collection, wondering if I could get the group B Audi quattro body to fit?
Loved your rally bash with Mark and Rob the other day bud, superb bit of footage for sure!
👍 👍 👍 👍
Modern classic 👍🏻
Hi mate and thanks for watching 👍
Yes the tamiya Audi Quattro body will fit .
The only bodies that won’t are ones with no clearance between front wheels and front bumper and stuff like the the mclaren senna as it has the motor bulk up front .
It’s an awesome chassis mate and I definitely recommend it . 👍

Awesome mate, cheers for that....
Project 'XV01 Audi quattro' will be one of my winter projects this year!
The kits are stacking up, too many projects, not enough time currently! 🤣 😂
👍 👍 👍 👍
Wow, looks great! And like you wrote, if track conditions might have been better, it could have taken top spot! Still very impressive, I loved the turns nearest to the camera on the figure 8 track, beautiful!
Like we've seen in quite a few videos by now, what a great chassis, this XV-01!
Thanks Mads.
It’s a brilliant bit of kit . Makes you feel like Colin McRae out there . I definitely recommend it . Thanks for watching my friend 😊👍
Might not be the fastest but it does look good out there doing it! I enjoyed seeing it do the figure 8! I think you may have done that a time or two with this one!
Thanks bud.
It’s just a joy to drive really mate. Had it two years now and it’s probably one of my all time favourites. Yeah I have been blasting it around these tight areas for a while.
I love how tamiya have nailed the feel here. I think I’ll keep the power the same as control and low end speed/acceleration and control are scale for a rally car.
Cheers mate😊👍
Not bad for a stock one. If it's upgraded, it might climb highet on the board🤔
Definitely a contender mate 😊👍
Great car and that body looks the dogs dangler’s
Cheers buddy 😊👍
Hey great run! What motor are you running? Cheers
Thanks mate . Standard tamiya stock 👍
I hope you have an XVO2 to do that with.
Sorry Brad. Not atm. I have the Tao2 and the tto2 though as Rally Cars
@@rc-dom-uk Don't bother with the XV02 mate! It's too expensive and is still not as good as the XV01!!! :P
😊👍
@@MarkBryanRC you know on the XV 02 you can overdrive the front wheels with a certain gear or you can put it in the back so you could actually make it get out of the turns faster or kick out the turn the rear back the rear back better because it's running faster than the front you can do that like they do on crawlers.
@@bradkalman2353 Thanks Brad, but yes I knew that, if you remember I had an XV02 to test against the XV01!! But thanks for sharing all the same! :)
How much run the tamiya mf01x? Beetle
