- Please apologize the bad video quality! I'm still a bloody beginner at filming and had the wrong settings on my camera.
Hot Water is one of my favourite bass riffs so I had to take a video on that! Played on my lovely Jaydee Supernatural Series I. Hope you enjoy!
Bro - flawless and hate how easy you make it look 😛😛😛
Smoking ! Love, love The King : ) That bass is a piece of art.
It's great seeing how many people are playing Jaydee basses at the moment. They're such an iconic British bass.
I was 14 when this song was released. This cover was fantastic 😜
cool tune! thanks for sharing you playing, so i can can watch your fingers :)
Very, very good indeed.
Dude you killed it and fingers on fretboard were so smooth and clear I actually managed to copy you and for the first felt I'm playing what he's playing lol! - BIG TIME SATISFACTION - long time fan since the 80s - machos gracias 🙂
Thanks a lot man! I'm glad my video could help you!
I first stumbled upon this channel via Midnight Joke, after going down a rabbit hole of citypop bass covers... To find Level 42 bass covers here too? What a treat!
Great work. Lovely JayDee too! Keeping time throughout this track is very hard. Also, a lot of people will try and pluck the first octave of the riff instead of thumbing it. You certainly know this tune well, although you don't look anywhere near old enough to remember it!
Damn I love that Alembic bass!
Great work with that L42 cover; cheers!
It’s actually a Jaydee
Great playing love the Series I
Man you’re so good I’ve watched this dozens of times to try and practice, btw, went to see level 42 for the first time on 30th October 2023 at Southend pavilion! It was surreal seeing them irl, they play so well as a band it’s more like a jazz funk these days rather than that 80’s sound they used to have , they played all the hits they all was soooo entertaining! Please upload more videos I like the way you film it ! Thanks 🙏🏼
Nice, I have seen them live yesterday in Holland. The band was full of energy. One of the best live performances by them I've ever seen.
Beautiful bro, just excellent A+👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 I can hear a Jay Dee in my sleep, nothing like, just freakin’ awesome.
Awesome job. Nice to see it done at the album tempo! 👌
Ooooo weeee. Noice job. I’m truly inspired!!
Wow, your tone stands out and then the accuracy and tempo control in this playing. Well done!
Very nice playing! Plus on a Jaydee 😊❤
What a lovely bass!
Nice groove
Nailed it. Good timing, well played dude.
Spot on good job dude.👍👍🎸🎸👍👍
perfect and clean awesome job bro
Damn good! And very nice finale.
You’re god damm amazing I was mesmerised watching😮
This is supernatural ! ;-)
Wow, spot on!! ✌️☺️
Wow! Almost too good to be 'just' a cover! You deserve a bigger platform!
Thanks a lot, Bonbonjunge!!
Great groove bro 👍
Awesome SA003 replica, mate!
Superb
Beast mode🤪
Really great playing!
Can you do Dude Tune too? I’m sure loads would love to see it! 🎸
Cheers Paul! Sure, I am gonna put that on my list!
Spitze!!!!
Superb !
Perfect❤
BRAVO 👏👏
Mark King 2.
I have never understood why the key for this track is slightly higher than normal open tuning on the recording.
Could you do a Guaranteed cover?
Yeah Man!
Shit hot mate 👍
Good job
Great sound - excellent playing. I also have a JayDee - but for some reason I am not able to get that sound.. not sure if the electrics are bad on it or the strings are wrong.. not sure. !!
Cheers @Brick Fikming! Maybe you got the SN2000 humbuckers on your Jaydee and not the classic style ones.
Bridge pick up, low action and 30-90 strings. Add a dab of chorus and off you go
Great cover and your slapping sounds very clean & percussive! Do you use your thumb to mute the e-string after playing the low A and G from the main riff? I sometimes hear background noises when i play the main riff on the lower strings with my chorus.
Hey! Thank you very much for your kind words. I mute the E-string on the A and G with my left middle finger.
@@slogan5786 thanks! that works a lot better than playing it with the index finger!

Komm mal wieder in Red Dead rein 🤣
5:11 is that part coming from Mark King bass solo at Expohal Namm Show 1985?
It's just some random MK stuff I felt like to play.
Apart from the intro that sees Mark King playing further up the neck to do his signature copy of what the keyboard is doing but then again " Hot Water " was developed to be played as a keyboards & the correct term escapes but it was set up to constantly keep those notes & the timing perfectly to the point we can barely hear the bass guitar on the single & album versions...
Mark plays almost under the radar of Mike playing & id call out anyone who thought or said that the bass line within the song could clearly be heard...
I don't mean to be sounding or coming as someone looking to pick holes at this bass line , as Mark has said all these decades later that the sound of the bass on whatever it was called that could play it that exact way & hence Mark could be as low within the mix when Producing & finally releasing it as the latest Level 42 Album at that time...
Though there will be those on theie UA-cam Channels & inform as to what , i think , Mark could clearly in his head & this played like a constant ongoing loop inside his mind but the ladt time i looked into this was at least 20 years ago & be honest i dont retain such information as i used to but hopefully you'll get to hear Mark King explaining it a lot better than i could...
Kudos to Mark for deciding that his bass line wasnt going to be as high up within the mix & at times id wonder where was Marks Bass Line!.. But it was always there but he put any ego within himself aside to allow Mike to keep this constant ongoing rhythmic beat that made Mike stick out more than any other individual members of Level 42
Hold The Phone!
Was it a sequencer that was programmed to repeat those same notes all the time & IF you haven't already noticed my progress & opinion on all synthetic sounds was not my area of knowledge...
Solo Acts & Band's had keyboards that until built to do so could hear a keyboard play one chord on it & then play anothet down & they could be heard to change from 1 chord to another & this opened up an even more expansive way of playing & no more using these machines could only play 1 Chord or Note & they had much more control over their finished objective & there were only a certain amount of places that could see Emulators/Sequencers & many more that could also bring in Keyboards & many new updated keyboards worked like in a way we'd never truly heard before & now it was keyboards/opened up for the Full Phil , Kubicki Factor Bass Guitar...

Status .que modelo es... de que año es ?. un afectuoso saludo , genial tu performance! espero tu mensaje saludos desde Valparaíso
¡Salud! Es una serie de Jaydee Supernatural que hice en 2017.
Top Banana 👍
Mark King 2.0 👍
what kind of pedal effect are you using?
I believe on that record I used to play through my Line 6 interface with Pod Farm effects only
👍😉
Better than Mark King woooow, insane 🙏
haha well I highly doubt that but thanks!
Like the original 😄🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thanks so much!
Clearly spent a lot of time and effort there. Well done.
One of the hardest according to Mark King.
Actually it's lessons in love that mark finds strenuous
A proper jay dee here .. without the silly slap groove hacked out of the body. Front pick up right close to the neck ...Nice. proper fan stylee
i frankly do not see nor hear any difference in sound and playing with the original.
Nice, but you started of playing the synthesizer groove, not the bassline. Yeah, I know, that part is hard to play.
You mean the part at 2:59?
@@slogan5786 Yes :) It's really nice to play this song, isn't it. I love it.
@@ilaphroaig on the original track the bass plays that part too. The whole thing was flawless!
