Level 42 - Hot Water - bass cover
Please apologize the bad video quality! I'm still a bloody beginner at filming and had the wrong settings on my camera.
Hot Water is one of my favourite bass riffs so I had to take a video on that! Played on my lovely Jaydee Supernatural Series I. Hope you enjoy!

Level 42 - Love Games - bass play along on Mark King's early Jaydee sign.

This video was already recorded a year ago. The strings were very old so I thought the sound is too dull for a good King sound but anyway. I think the cover is okay so here we go. Thanks for watching!
Junko Yagami (八神 純子) - Bay City - bass cover

TIme for a new upload! This one is a more popular one. I tried to play the bass line as original as possible. Apologize for the bad focus of my camera I realised that right after everything was already filmed. Thanks for watching!

I know that's more a kind of "show off" title but that's the song I always wanted to be able to play. It took me a while to record this video because it's hard to play well in one take. Thanks for watching!
Miki Matsubara (松原みき) - Jazzy Night - bass play along

One of my favourite tunes by Miki Matsubara. Reminds me of walking through the warm nights of Osaka. Enjoy!
Takako Mamiya - 真夜中のジョーク "Midnight Jokes" bass play along

This song belongs to one of my favorite albums. Hope this cover helps to anyone who wants to play it, too! The bass line was originally played by Yoshihiro Naruse, the current bassist of Casiopea.
Yeah ok gunna give you this...Been playing some 40+ years and moved from guitar to bass because of this track.. Bought a JD after some 40+ years of wanting... Looks exactly like yours... Well pld mate a very good job :)
Beautiful tone. I think only Jaydee bass can produce a very low and solid bass tone with 0.30 - 0.90 strings.
Great playing - thanks for sharing. Playing the best bass too.
Thats brilliant and the bass a thing of beauty ❤
They should make some medium scale basses.
There are a few medium scale Jaydees out there!
@@slogan5786 Thanks.
@@slogan5786 Jaydee makes the Series One (seen in this video). However, they make a smaller Series 2, and 3 model. The difference is that the body is 1 inch narrower than the Series One. They also make a solid mahoghany body called the 'Roadie'.
cool tune! thanks for sharing you playing, so i can can watch your fingers :)
Nice, but you started of playing the synthesizer groove, not the bassline. Yeah, I know, that part is hard to play.
You mean the part at 2:59?
@@slogan5786 Yes :) It's really nice to play this song, isn't it. I love it.
@@ilaphroaig on the original track the bass plays that part too. The whole thing was flawless!
niceeeeeeeeeee perfect
Mark King 2.0 👍
Great feel
Nice groove
You need the right bass to get the original tone. Awesome!
🤓🙊😎🌞😉
Status .que modelo es... de que año es ?. un afectuoso saludo , genial tu performance! espero tu mensaje saludos desde Valparaíso
¡Salud! Es una serie de Jaydee Supernatural que hice en 2017.
Awesome
Damn good! And very nice finale.
Do you have the tabs?
It's great seeing how many people are playing Jaydee basses at the moment. They're such an iconic British bass.
Bro - flawless and hate how easy you make it look 😛😛😛
I remember the first time playing this album when it was released. I was totally floored. Been a fan ever since. Ive always wanted a Jaydee bass. Yours sounds awesome. Bang on cover too.
I was listening to all (especially the early) albums on my iPod when I went to school. It was in the late '00 and I was 15/16 years old. I was a real Level 42 maniac and dreamed about having a Jaydee. If you have the chance: get one!! It's absolutely worth it.
Yeah Man!
🤯🤯🤯🤯
Bang on mate…. Really not an easy tune to play… you nailed it!
Cheers Luke! Thank you very much!

Damn I love that Alembic bass! Great work with that L42 cover; cheers!
It’s actually a Jaydee
PERFECT cover version. thanks for sharing! congrats
What's that on your thumb, good sir? Is that protectiong for slapping? Might need one. Great cover!
Hi! I have stolen that idea from Mark King. Usually he uses gaffa tape but mine is made of thin layers of leather.
Thank you for responding. I'll research about it more. @@slogan5786
@@slogan5786How did you make it? Im looking for something similar. A Polish bassist, Wojtek Pilichowski has this awesome (what looks like silicone or rubber) one that’s reusable! So no more rolls of gaff or 3M electrical! Fantastic playing by the way, awesome bass too!
Such fun ...
Nice to see the younger generation getting into this groovy band. Well played !
Great work. Lovely JayDee too! Keeping time throughout this track is very hard. Also, a lot of people will try and pluck the first octave of the riff instead of thumbing it. You certainly know this tune well, although you don't look anywhere near old enough to remember it!
What a lovely bass!
Clearly spent a lot of time and effort there. Well done. One of the hardest according to Mark King.
Actually it's lessons in love that mark finds strenuous
A proper jay dee here .. without the silly slap groove hacked out of the body. Front pick up right close to the neck ...Nice. proper fan stylee
Spot on, this song is very tricky and I always struggle to play it!! 😁👍
Thanks a lot! Just keep on going and you'll master it!
@@slogan5786 Thank you, I’ll keep trying!! 💪😄
Amazing, flawless cover, my guy!
Superb
What is that electronic box with light up text that says City Pop Radio?
Great cover and your slapping sounds very clean & percussive! Do you use your thumb to mute the e-string after playing the low A and G from the main riff? I sometimes hear background noises when i play the main riff on the lower strings with my chorus.
Hey! Thank you very much for your kind words. I mute the E-string on the A and G with my left middle finger.
@@slogan5786 thanks! that works a lot better than playing it with the index finger!
Like the original 😄🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thanks so much! <3
This is supernatural ! ;-)
Very, very good indeed.
Smoking ! Love, love The King : ) That bass is a piece of art.
Model and brand of the bass?
Hi! It's a Jaydee Supernatural Series I
Great playing love the Series I
perfect and clean awesome job bro
Nailed it. Good timing, well played dude.
Man you’re so good I’ve watched this dozens of times to try and practice, btw, went to see level 42 for the first time on 30th October 2023 at Southend pavilion! It was surreal seeing them irl, they play so well as a band it’s more like a jazz funk these days rather than that 80’s sound they used to have , they played all the hits they all was soooo entertaining! Please upload more videos I like the way you film it ! Thanks 🙏🏼
Nice, I have seen them live yesterday in Holland. The band was full of energy. One of the best live performances by them I've ever seen.
You’re god damm amazing I was mesmerised watching😮
I have never understood why the key for this track is slightly higher than normal open tuning on the recording.
I've only just come across this.... a good performance, however the left hand slap is missing which provides the percussive effect. If you played solo without the backing this would be noticeable..
