The motor swap is not horribly difficult. If your using an intercooler, the rad support needs a lot of trimming. If your using the 4401 transfer case with the stock 4l80 the torsion bar crossmember needs to be modified. I used auto world motor mounts a/c and alternator brackets. I used a billet adapter and flex plate for the trans.
Auto world supplied the 8 rib pulley and the 6 rib running the a/c. I don't know if they still use that style mount for the a/c. The alternator worked fine without any further modification.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can give me
@Benton Sullivan I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Found your video from looking for Chevy Duramax videos - Nice truck man!! Very nice! Love the paint job and your attention to detail. Keep us updated on what other changes you make.
One of the nicest conversions! I'm just updating my 88 GMC 1 ton regular cab, in your opinion, do you think the bonnie seats would fit in my single cab?
Would there be any fitment issues without the body lift? I have the same truck you do in a single cab config and it seems to be hard to find a body lift ford the diesel version of these trucks.
Hey thanks for posting! I'm building the same truck 99 k3500 crew cab.. Except with a nv4500. You said you used the Auto World engine brackets.. Did you use the alternator and air conditioner brackets as well? You used the 6.5 alternator, what 8rib pulley did you use? And using the 6.5 alt your tach worked with no extra modifications? Thanks!
Build thread on the truck www.cumminsforum.com/forum/cummins-conversions-shop-talk-tools-fabrication/486756-another-cummins-chevy.html#/forumsite/20661/topics/486756
That's a fine looking Chevy! Coupled with the bullet proof 12V Cummins, in MHO, you have the ultimate truck! I have a 2004 with a Duramax. I bought a 94 12V a couple years ago and have been waiting for the D-Max to go down so I can swap. Well... That day has arrived. I began doing my home work so I could start gathering conversion parts to bolt up to my Allison. For some reason, I decided to measure the engine compartment... It's not gonna fit? Question: What mods do you have to make to get the extra 4" of clearance you need? Thanks in advance
Very nice build. How did you get the intercooler and turn signals/ headlights to fit? My only concern for when I start my build is how I’m ganna modify the core support and headlights to run the intercooler pipes I’m not putting A/c in my truck because it will be mostly a plow truck. Beautiful build man 👍🏻
I cut the firewall out to allow engine to move back. And made my own mounts. 3in. is what you need to make it look stock.I'm in middle of my 95 3500 crew cab 12v swap right now
Your previous video said the rear axle was out of a Superduty... now its an AAM. Was that a misspoken part, or did you swap the Superduty axle after a bit to the AAM?
Thanks Jon. I'm most interested in: 1) How you wired the electrical into the existing GM harness. 2) What adapter you used to for the 4L80E trans. I've got a 96 K3500 7.4L that I'd like to convert to the same Cummins diesel set up you did. What was the total estimated cost of the conversion?
D Johnson I labeled every connector on the harness when I pulled the 6.5. I used pipe adapters to put the gm sensors on the cummins engine, simple really. There's a pink wire that's hot with the key in the run position. I used that wire to trigger my fuel shutoff solenoid. I still have the pcm in the truck because I think it it runs the air conditioning, I could be mistaken though. The trans adaptor and flexplate is from patc, it uses a 6.0 powerstroke starter. You will run into clearance issues with the 4401 transfer case and torsion bar crossmember if the truck does not have a suspension lift. The cost boils down to what parts you want to use. My trans adapter torque converter and controller cost about $3000. Plan on that if your running a 4l80e. You'll have another $1500 into motor mounts a/c brackets coolers and miscellaneous stuff. Then the cost of the motor.... add it all up and it's not even close to what they want for a new diesel pickup that will get lost in a parking lot next to all the other new trucks. Do it, you'll be glad you did.
Nice rig man. I like that it's not over done but just rite. Very classy. How's that 4-L tranz holding up? For sure the weakest link, but if built right I guess anything is possible☺
The trans is holding up great. 26k miles on the swap so far. I am currently in the process of replacing the torque converter with a low stall billet triple disc. Honestly I couldn't be happier with the 4l80e.
That's good to hear. Again that's a dam good looking truck! FYI if you get tired of the hummer center caps the Chevy HD lug caps fit perfect on hummer rims.
Love the truck I want to build one with a 3208 cat 5 speed clark and np205 tcase with dana 80 rear 70 front and want that color what is the code and what primer was used
Hey that's a good looking truck, I have a 2000 chevy crew cab I'm doing a cummins swap having trouble getting the alternator and oil persure gauges to work, I'm using the 480le transmission also, it sure be appreciated if you can tell me what I'm doing wrong everything else is working, my name is johnny here in las vegas nevada, thanks
Who did u get the adapter plate from to connect the 12v to the 4l80e? Also can you do a vid of how the Ac condenser and intercooler all fit as long as you still have the truck.
what'd u do for the tach and grid heater?? I'm doing a Cummins swap on a 2003 F250 that had a 6.0 diesel I have a 24 valve that I did A P pump conversion on I am NOT using any kind of Dodge I ECU or PCM also doing in NV 4500 5 speed swap on it
Gm gets the tach signal from the alternator on the 6.5 diesels, I used the gm alternator. The grid heater is easy, get a couple relays and wire it up to a momentary switch. If you did the swap your more than capable of wiring up the heaters, just make sure you fuse it.
+jon barton awesome I am still in the middle of my swap doing a 4 link up front with an 05 axle frame is out getting blasted epoxy primer and painted right now then I will test fit it and make my mounts and then do all the twin turbo piping
+kameryn kranski I'd wait on the piping until the cab is back on the frame. My simple down pipe I built hit the firewall and needed to be scrapped and rebuilt once everything was in place. Compound piping would be a nightmare to figure out without the cab in place.
John, I really wanna get a 6BT fitted into my 94 Reg Cab silverado 2500. How did you sorted out the mounts for it? Any special brackets for the A/C Compressor, Alternator and Powersteering Pump?
Motor mounts, alternator mount, a/c mount pulley and bracket are all from auto world. The a/c lines are all stock off the 6.5 diesel. The power steering is stock cummins pump with GM hydroboost, and cooler.
jon barton hopefully you will reply lol but was the lift necessary for the swap do you have clearance with the stock suspension all I see is sas swaps lol
+Craig Grossman The stock mechanical fan moves way more air than any electric one. I can install the fan and remove it without it hitting the radiator. I tried a few electric ones and just wasn't happy with them. I pulled the engine and am moving a few things around, hopefully I can get another half inch clearance by the time everything is done.
6 years later and this is still one of the most beautiful trucks on UA-cam
She is a beautiful truck. Good job
I like it
Beautiful truck I had one it was stolen from mi never found it
I’ve got a CCSB and love how these look with no molding on them. Debating taking mine off.
This truck is beautiful! You did a great job with it!
great looking truck Jon! the Cummins will treat u as good as you treat it!!
Dude that is SICK!! Fantastic job!
LOVE YOUR TRUCK AND YOUR WORK
Nice truck good work I just got done redoing 2002 Chevy k1500 HD
Great build; so clean!
That looks awesome! You did a great job!
My gosh beautiful truck wish mine looked liked that and had the 12 valve damb build mine
Nice truck, love 4 doors and i love cummins lol
This is my actual exact dream truck I've been dreaming about since I was 12
That's a awesome truck man!
Would you build another one for anybody that wanted one
Nice build!
Thats a very nice truck you got there!
Love it!!! Wish I could take my 2wd crew cab dually and have this done. It would be the only truck I would ever need.
Jon, sweeeeet truck brother.
awesome truck though love the orange and the h2 wheels
Good looking truck.
The motor swap is not horribly difficult. If your using an intercooler, the rad support needs a lot of trimming. I'll be lookingtodothis swap with my 90 k1500 but swap in a G56 6 speed with the 12v
Do you have any newer video on the truck
Love the rear bumper.
I love this truck! I'd like one just like this but probably with a 6.5 still in it
I know it's an old comment but why would you want that old crumby boat anchor of a motor in a done up truck like this?
@@chrishansen7004 because they are good engines. Powerful? No. Reliable? Yes, with the right care and good on fuel too
@@Darian-mk1bwBut...the Cummins is powerful AND reliable
Wow sweet truck
I need this truck in my life
Copperhead pearl. I really dig it
Looks good man
This is awesome
Awesome truck I'm envious!!! Vote DT or we will have to have emissions on everything from a weed eater to dragster!
jason skinner this bitch is not epa approved!
Nice just how I like em
Did they make the crew cab with a short bed on the gmt800s? Also if it possible to mate the 12v to an Allison?
Beautiful job
Cuanto costo el motor e instalación?
Sweet ride !
that's bad ass man!
sweet rig
I've literally wanted to build this exact truck for a while. A 4 door of this body style with a cummins. You wouldn't wanna sell would you lol!
Auto world supplied the 8 rib pulley and the 6 rib running the a/c. I don't know if they still use that style mount for the a/c. The alternator worked fine without any further modification.
Goddamn that thing is beautiful!
Auto world tach and ac brackets. The pulley is a stock off a diesel ram pickup. The tach is off a little bit but it's not terrible.
Oh ok thanks! I read somewhere that a 2 5/8 pulley will correct it.
I build axles for a living. And from personal experience I have never had any luck with those front ends. All I'm saying. Have a good one
Beautiful truck! Just getting into a 12V swap to my '99 K3500. Any advice you have would be much appreciated!
Do an mbpr or mbrp exhaust with the exhaust tip, it changes the sound alot
nice work . sure glad you didn't turn it into a punk ass truck with stacks ,22.5 wheels and Westcoast mirrors. it's still a pickup.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?
I was dumb forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can give me
@Krew Avi Instablaster =)
@Benton Sullivan I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm.

@Benton Sullivan it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you really help me out!
@Krew Avi you are welcome xD
How did you get the computer harness to hook up I have the same truck except mine has still got the 454 in it
Found your video from looking for Chevy Duramax videos - Nice truck man!! Very nice! Love the paint job and your attention to detail. Keep us updated on what other changes you make.
I’m looking to do the swap in a 98 k2500 with a 454 just need better mileage on my fuel
Great build. Any info on the front axles?
Really cool
Did you have to cut the frame to put the short bed on or did the short bed just fit?
Where did you get the adapter plates from engine to transmission
What a great truck man. You did an awesome job on it. Do you still have it? How is it running? Any vids pulling a load?
One of the nicest conversions! I'm just updating my 88 GMC 1 ton regular cab, in your opinion, do you think the bonnie seats would fit in my single cab?

Where did u get the light bar I'm trying to find one like that for my 98 Silverado z71
Do you still have the truck?
Did you have to do the body lift for the conversion?

It's a totally different truck/body style. Just remember if there's a will there's a way.
Gary Cook you might need to do a body lift to compensate for the missing space.
Gary Cook Just fix the Duramax and forget it.
BFH (big fuckin hammer) and a torch must "massage" the firewall out of the way
Very nice build. How did you get the intercooler and turn signals/ headlights to fit? My only concern for when I start my build is how I’m ganna modify the core support and headlights to run the intercooler pipes I’m not putting A/c in my truck because it will be mostly a plow truck.

Not a bow tie boy but hats off for a kickin build
could you fit a stack in it? i know theyre not for everyone but in my opinion it would look better than the one on there now. sweet truck btw.
I heard the 4l80 is almost as good as a Allison is that true?
Need to do front axle swap. That motor with mess that front end all up in 4 low
Tim Rice have you done a lot of swaps. If so please teach me
How did u hook up your tach and Speedo I've got a 97 and I need to figure out how to get that done
How much did the paint job cost?
Your previous video said the rear axle was out of a Superduty... now its an AAM. Was that a misspoken part, or did you swap the Superduty axle after a bit to the AAM?
You're running the 4l80 right? Did you have to move the transmission back at all?
how did you wire I. the tach only thing can't get on mine with $$$$ kit
Would love it if you post the conversion build process steps as I know there are many C
hevy owners who would like to do the same swap.
D Johnson I might do that in the future. I have a ton of pictures and videos of the process.
Thanks Jon. I'm most interested in: 1) How you wired the electrical into the existing GM harness. 2) What adapter you used to for the 4L80E trans. I've got a 96 K3500 7.4L that I'd like to convert to the same Cummins diesel set up you did. What was the total estimated cost of the conversion?

did you have to get a special harness built to get the gauges to work or did you just have to figure out which wires went where?
jonathon boler I built my own harness. It's not that hard.
Hey that's a good looking truck, I have a 2000 chevy crew cab I'm doing a cummins swap having trouble getting the alternator and oil persure gauges to work, I'm using the 480le transmission also, it sure be appreciated if you can tell me what I'm doing wrong everything else is working, my name is johnny here in las vegas nevada, thanks
did you also get the original cruise control system, so i works from the turn-signal arm,
I hear its relatively easy to get working. I use the hand throttle/high idle for my cruise control.
I love the paint color, you said that was a Chrysler color? can you provide the specs on the paint?
+Josephus Heun
copperhead pearl. PLB is the code
How much would you charge to install a cummins into a 98 z71, given you already have a motor and trans
How did you get the tach working?
At how many RPM and speed your transmission shifts with the quick 2? Thanks
Who did u get the adapter plate from to connect the 12v to the 4l80e? Also can you do a vid of how the Ac condenser and intercooler all fit as long as you still have the truck.
Check out Diesel Conversion Specialist website for the adapter plate. Just got mine last week but it’s gonna cost you a good amount
what'd u do for the tach and grid heater?? I'm doing a Cummins swap on a 2003 F250 that had a 6.0 diesel I have a 24 valve that I did A P pump conversion on I am NOT using any kind of Dodge I ECU or PCM also doing in NV 4500 5 speed swap on it

+jon barton definitely I do not think I am even going to buy a manifold until the cab is back on the truck and the motor is in place for good
just hook it up to the chev glow plug curcuit
What kind of hood is that?
John, I really wanna get a 6BT fitted into my 94 Reg Cab silverado 2500. How did you sorted out the mounts for it? Any special brackets for the A/C Compressor, Alternator and Powersteering Pump?
Motor mounts, alternator mount, a/c mount pulley and bracket are all from auto world. The a/c lines are all stock off the 6.5 diesel. The power steering is stock cummins pump with GM hydroboost, and cooler.
Hard to say how much the conversion cost, I have piles of receipts.
The truck is not for sale.
jon barton hopefully you will reply lol but was the lift necessary for the swap do you have clearance with the stock suspension all I see is sas swaps lol
What do you think your time line on this build was??? Excellent work, Im happy for you.
Read your thread and seen you got your adapter from eBay wouldn't happen to have a link would you ? I'm not having any luck.
you need a roll pan in the rear
Your right it needs a roll pan for sure.
Cool Ride... fan is tooo close. why not electric fans. they makem crazy thin these daze..

Did you had to do any electrical modifications for the 4l80e tranny? such as like running a separate TCM?
6.5L Turbo Diesel quick 1 trans controller soon to be updated with a quick 6
I want to do that to a 1997 3500 dually. what motor did that come off?
