I have 3 12v trucks. I would put a cummins in my lawn mower if it would fit
I mean I managed to put a small miata motor in a lawn mower
@@chaselopez3477 wtf are you trying to say?
Me to but I only have to 12v trucks one fummins anylevel lift kit love cummin in them
believe me you can fit an intercooler in there. lots of room
Any premade intercooler? I have a Cummins in a 99 Suburban and would love to have an intercooler for towing, some insight would be awesome.
@@bluenecross I put a 24 valve cummins into one of these and fit the 2nd gen intercooler. It wasn't easy though. I have pictures of everything I had to do if you want to see it
@@bluenecross sent you an email
Doing a 12 valve/ nv4500 4x4 and SAS swap to my obs k2500 right now already loving the looks it's giving
How’d it go?
Yeah buddy, can't wait to do this in my 98 ccsb k3500.
Those welds tho 😂😂
It ain't junk if it's sealed lmao
So that must be a Chummins!
The easiest way to do a Cummins swap is use the transmission from a 1994 to 95 they are standalone use the factory one come behind the engine!
Nice info
Truck Master
Plus those Transmissions can be built to Hold a lot of power!
I don’t understand why people don’t buy the Complete TRUCK and just install everything!
Good channel!
beautiful cummins swap. If very enthused, I learned the half ton frame can take it.. but the tails need to be welded into a bigger weight/density. All the fronts are the same. if the back wiggle around, you can wreck the whole front and vice versa. Not sure why gm made them so flexible and weird. Even regular half ton needs the welds if you go big.
This is what I want to do to my single cab I just bought 3 weeks ago.
Awesome job on the Cummins swap.
That truck was awesome can’t wait to see more great videos 👍
I appreciate it
Where did he get the kit
Intercooler and fan fit fine... get rid of the gm radiator and possibly the mounts
Thinking about a 24v in my 99 obs burb
I’m in between putting either a 12v or 24v Cummins in an abandoned 1987 c3500 sierra restoration project I bought from an uncle
12v is way more reliable, I believe the 4bt will fit better because it’s shorter, the 6bt is longer and that’s why he couldn’t use the mechanical fan
I have a 12v that's waiting for my 6.5 to go out so I can stuff the Cummins in my 95
Dustin Albright what transmission you gunns run ??
That's right, put a Cummins in a Chevy!!! Great job, a lot to to to make it run/ drive right.
Dear 6.7 guy i cant imigin it being alott i have a 6.5 turbo diesel im doing the samw swap so i can daily it im looking at just motor mounts and t case custom but thats it besides maybe another turbo it will link to the tranny already in these trucks so you can do the swap and not worry lol if i tare the tranny its a full performance and tune build
Smart guy
The 4 BT are great 4 these trucks....
Where did he get the conversion kit and the transmission shifter he talked about?
Well that shirt and hat he is wearing matches his merica truck for sure
Just seen that truck on Facebook market place
Hell yeah man 517 🤙 definitely need to meet up and talk more about it I’m looking to Cummins away my 97
My 98 5.9 24valve starts on one battery in Alberta
Nice truck I also put a Cummins in a Chevy went with nv4500 trans tho
I put 216" cooling fans behind the radiator And a intercooler In front It will work easily
Man you'd get more performance out of it if you did put an intercooler in it though. It wouldn't even have to be a big one just a good air tear air cooler that thing would pick up horsepower and torque both looks great though
Why not link the kit he had instead of add on’s
Damn I went to school with him I can’t believe I’m seeing this for the first time
This is a dream build of mine except I’d put a nv4500 trans in it
It's what chevy should offer all remaining 6.5 owners
The gears in my brain are spinning 😂
I’ve an 89 3500 where he got the kit would be cool doing a 12 v 5,9.
Just bought a chevy K2500 with the P value 5.9l and 5 speed transmission
So what modifications needed to be made to the fuel system? I assume a new fuel pump?
Hey awesome vids dude will the duramax get upgraded stacks or dual exhaust?
Can anyone tell me cost wise how much I'm looking at having someone do this for my 01 2500hd it's got a 8.1 in it with an Allison 1000. I want a cummins for efficiency set up. Any ideas would be a great help
Where did he get the swap kit?
wondering the same, cant find the mounts.
Nice
So no on the 1/2 ton Silverado then? Asking for a friend.
Where did you get the adapter from engine to transmission ?
I have a 93 C1500 5 speed manual, would it be possible to diesel swap it. I can't seem to find anyone that has done it before so any advice would help.
I put a 12 valve in my 95 Chevrolet 3500, used the factory Chev NV4500 behind it works great. Used the Cummins intercooler and mechanical fan, was tight but fit.
@@jerstruckbuilds9212 what all did you have to do to the chevy nv4500 to make it work with the 12v? have a 95 k3500 with a nv4500 and picking a 12v up this weekend.
What about the electronics like speedo, and other stuff ?
He said the speedo won’t work
If you keep the chevy trans then it works off the chevy VSS, if you go to a dodge trans without a cable drive then you can convert the signal using a dakota digital box
Almost 63k subs 👍
Thanks I appreciate it
Beautiful
Cummins needs to be put in any truck. I wanna cummins swap my 2010 F150 when the 300k mile motor goes out.
That would be awesome
You can't put a Cummins (at least not the inline 6 cylinder 5.9 or 6.7) in an F-150 or a Chevy/Ram 1500, the engine has too much power and will wreck your frame, tranny, front end, basically anything structural... Half tons are not the real trucks that F250/350 Chevy Ram 2500/3500, they are not even close to being the same quality trucks... Cummins swaps will only work with F-250 or 2500 and up not 1500/ F-150
@@machscga6238 It's doable just tougher. I have upgraded 1 ton suspension anyway...on 35s. I'll reinforce the frame and the transmission has 300k miles too lol I'll just swap both. Thanks for your criticism though.
Boxing the frame and beefing up the suspension motor and tranny mounts are not that hard to do just a lot of work if it’s done right to say a 150 isn’t a real truck is just sully not everyone can start out in a 50k rig. Get what you can or want and make it yours if your willing to do the work the info to do it is readily available don’t let negativity drag you down 👍👍💪😎
@@chrismartin6544 you need 50K for more than a 1/2 ton? I'm in Canada so maby it's different state side.... But my 1996 3500 I only paid $7500cnd for it and it's perfectly strong I should get another 15 years out of it... Unless you are buying brand new current year truck or you want A high end interior package there should be no real difference in the cost is the different classes of trucks... If you go 4500/F-450 and up then you have different costs in purchasing, insurance, repair and parts and tires (and in the States I also think you need a CDL for those vehicles).... As for your upgraded 1/2 ton with all that work/money you put into it it would probably come close to the value of just starting with a 3500 in the first place... In my experience a 1/2 ton is a money pit, if you buy new they cost almost as much as the real trucks they are obviously inferior quality to the 2500 & 3500 they break more often, they are not rated for the same capacity (and thus less jobs they can't make as much money for you as the better trucks)... And before you argue, YES 1/2 tons will break down more that the 2500/3500 class everything about them is weaker you put the same maintenance, stress and punishment on the two different classes and the 1/2 ton stands no chance in Quality regardless of brand, they are built with beefier parts because they are rated for more vehicle and towing weight.
Your overhauled 1/2 ton is not normal you basically converted it into a 3500 for the engine swap. Which would have cost alot of money and/or your own labour, and with all that work to convert a 150 into a 350 you are still restricted by law to the original vehicle and towing weight of the manufacturer specs... If you had made your custom truck out of a 2500 or 3500 you could actually use all that extra motor muscle and truck beef to tow/haul something... I would also point out that if you didn't get approval from your insurance company for your modifications to your 1/2 ton it's entirely possible that your liability insurance is void if you get into an accident.
Summary:
- maby it's different where you live but I've never know 2500/3500 to cost a whole lot more that 1500 trucks... And if you are buying used the 2500/3500 will cost less in the long run because they will break down less (this is an always true fact assuming the same care and maintenance)
- converting a 1500/F150 to a Cummins Diesel or other 3500 spec truck can be done and done with a high level of quality. It can be done But should not be done because it can void your insurance, and/or astronomically increase your insurance, and you can never use the 3500 towing weight specs as the manufacturer certifies each trucks weight and there is no way to get it recertified. That's alot of blood, sweat, and money for a toy that is illegal to use to its full capacity.
- If you have the Skill and/or Money to do some kind of 1500 conversion to 3500 spec like a Cummins swap, I have a hard time believing that you don't have the money for a 3500, or the same skill to do the engine swap without the need to do all that frame and tranny work. In my thinking a UA-cam channel called " The Fast Lane Trucks" did a complete restoration a 1980's 1500 Chevy truck for just under $20,000. With the skill/money for the 1500 to 3500 Class conversion, you could get a really cheap 3500 with a good title and structural components (you are swapping the engine and tranny anyway), maby you need to redo the interior. I think you save a ton of money and time over the 1500 to 3500 class conversion, and you actually get more hauling and towing capacity with out messing with your insurance rates.
Maby I'm wrong and the USA is really different than Canada in this regard
Seems like an easy swap tbh, no electronics to cause issues
I have a buddy looking to do the same what was the cost with all this?
Did he say that the 4l80 is stabbed behind it
Where is this at? I am in mi and also have a 12v half ton chevy lol
A year later but you should of left the shirts in there lol
Where can I get the conversion kit
Do you know of any local dealers that specialize in used diesel trucks ? Thanks for you help
I’m really sorry I don’t have any I can recommend other than Perry Auto Sales
Do you have a link to tyler
what are those welds 0_0
Who sells the conversion kit
needs to clean that air filter
I definitely don't miss the cliche youtuber music. Lol
I’d do a Cummins swap over a duramax any day
Sounds better than a duramax lol
Can you put a kitty cat in there?
Really cool video. You still working at the tractor shop?
Not any more
would it work on a k2500
deven p nope sorry only works in single cab
Was he able to retain the cruise control??
👌👍🏻
Why?
Cause America
Why not
Cummins in one of the best bodies
I would just stick to my duramax!
I guess Cummings better than a ford
No cummins stays with dodge
Now in a Nissan from the Factory.
News flash Cummins isn’t made buy dodge or ram...... now you can buy one stock in Nissan or toyota
👍
Yup, Cummins in every brand of semi trucks. Freight liner Pete’s kenworth international... ect ect... belongs in dodge! .... idiot
Lagoon Rd you mean ram now
Uh where can u buy a Toyota with a Cummins Stock, in the USA???
Closdmon1400
Yes you were right a lot of people don’t realize that!
Dodge never supplied a BT4 neither
Grow your beard back!
Ok
Does the 4L80E transmission hold up an work properly I have a 12V 3500 with a good engine but a destroyed transmission, but my dad has a Billet 4L80E in his 2500 Chevy that has a blown motor. I’ve looked it up an people say it over heats to easy an that if it don’t over heat within a month it will have stopped working so Is it worth the money/work or no??????
The 4l80e was behind the lb7 duramax when it came out in some vehicles, which has 110hp more than a VE pump 12 valve . so I'd say its alright
Mark Levinski but thank about it I have a 12V an most like I’m gunna try to run at least 650hp sence there so easy to modify, I have a 6.0L 2500HD truck that has a blown motor but a Billet 4L80E transmission, that’s why I ask ????
@@JasonY02 650hp is a little harder to obtain than you'd expect. Even if you put out more power than the 4l80e will handle, they are inexpensive to upgrade and build
Mark Levinski so yes
@@JasonY02 yes I'd say its an economical option that will work well!
what truck is this im driving next year and love the look of these trucks
it’s a obs chevy
