What a great introduction to an amazing place……thank you for this video!!! I sure wish I could travel there and collect such beautiful petrified wood as you found…..stunning!! And I must say, I laughed out loud at your comment as you closed the squeaky gate……well done you!! I will most definitely recommend and watch this again so I can get another glimpse of your first day finds and that pelican at sunset….spectacular!!!!😁
Thanks very much for your kind comments. It is a great place to fossick and so accessible. Just about anyone can find something interesting here. Great camping and fishing as well. Thanks again.
Love the music and your fossicking adventures! The music made me think of one of my favourite TV shows - Deadwood. That sunset interlude was valso ery beautiful.
A sawn off toothbrush would be a handy tool to brush the dirt and dust off of the stones (cut half the handle off of a cheapo toothbrush). I used to carry one when I was metal detecting
So what has the wood become? Is it agate? I have some pyritised wood from a place here in England called Walton on the naze but I think its the only type of fossilised wood I've found
My understanding is that it is agate, someone else may be able to clarify. It tumbles and polishes nicely, some of the cut examples I've seen are stunning.

Take Two: I'd love to hear your comments on my fossicking adventure to Chinchilla in Queensland.
I worked around Chinchilla for around ten years and found some great pieces of petrified wood.
I can imagine that. I went to the museum at Miles and they had an astounding collection.

What a great idea. I have one I need to replace so, that's what I'll do. Thank you.
