Just wonderful, been searching for "raising coturnix quails" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Eeyila Rudimentary Expediency - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a good one off product for discovering how to raise healthy and fertile quail without the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my partner got amazing success with it.
This was great, been searching for "how much is a quail bird" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Eeyila Rudimentary Expediency - (do a search on google ) ? It is an awesome exclusive guide for discovering how to raise healthy and fertile quail minus the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.
New subscriber here and I am glad I found you. Thanks for posting. I'm about to start on building a quail pen now and look forward to following your channel.
+Reginald Roberts thank you for your comment Reginald we appreciate your interest in our channel will be doing some more Quail videos here very shortly. If you have any questions about your a quail pen or anything please let us know.
This was great, thanks, I been tryin to find out about "how to raise gambel quail" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Eeyila Rudimentary Expediency - (do a search on google ) ? It is a great one of a kind product for discovering how to raise healthy and fertile quail minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.
Hi do you have a detailed video on how to care for the eggs into babies? can you turn the camera around and show us exact steps lol thanks. what Im wondering is do you have to use an incubator or do the mums hatch their own eggs like chooks?
Thank you for your question we are at present working on a more elaborate hatching to Chick video If you have a specific question please let me know and as a general rule domesticated Quail will not sit on their eggs I don't know why this happens but they won't I have heard of some people putting quail eggs under hen chickens and they will sit on them. So the only sure way to hatch them out is with an incubator If I can answer a more specific question please let me know and thank you for taking the time to watch our videos
I agree with raising them on the ground. I have mine on the ground in a large flight pen and had very few losses as well. Plus they're so much happier.
I have a question about bugs like bored beetle , bc I have issue with them and want an alternative ways to killed the beetles and bugs without chrmical or pestricle 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🙏🏻 Do quail eat beetles or larves like Simba
You can use permission spray which is all natural and will not harm wildlife or you can also spray vinegar on the ground and that will help deter the Beatles
Of course every farm cat is different but can I have quail go out and forage with being taken out by cats or will they be just small enough to be considered fair game by the cat. With a momma around our ducklings and chicks are fine. Will a medium quail chick be alright?
Jerry thank you for your question In my opinion it is a cats nature to prey on birds and a quail is no different. I don't think the quail would work out very well on its own. Your ducks have the mother to protect them and quail really more or less are on their own. Not sure if I answered your question or not if not let me know and will try to engage further with it Thanks Jim
Are the Geargia giant eggs big then the Northern bobwhites, and will they fit and the little giant egg turner? Also what about the gumbo coturnix eggs, will they fit?
+Dale Bourgeois Dale Georgia Giant quail eggs are slightly bigger than bobwhite quail and so are the Conturnix and the Tibetan quail eggs but they will work in any Turner that has quail egg rails
theoutdoorsportsmen / Carolina Outdoors Thankyou for the reply, I was given two large incubators, Leahy Favorite incubator. the incubator/ hatcher, but I'm using a little giant turner in the hatcher till I can change the fan motor in the incubator. I will email or call you soon. Thankyou, and God bless
nice set up ,the quail have plenty of fighting room, when i raised quail,i had to raise them in pens with tin roof's on them,we have so much snow ,that it would smash them to the ground
thankyou, we raise and sell quail on a commercial basses for game preserves and trainers so we need larger then normal pens to have flight condition birds, and with less crowing they do better and are not so stressed
+Harlo Condo Harlow that is a very good question what we do is we have a spot at the end of our pens, and we slowly walk all the quail to one end and there's a small door open with a catch cage and what they will do is they will go through the small hole into the cage and then you close the door and you're able to count them out. We having some cases used a net before but what happens is you get the birds all flying around and then the feathers get messed up in some commercial hunting preserves don't like that for their customers. That's a very good question and I think I will go ahead and do a video on how we do that that way you can better see how we collect our Quail for customers Be watching for it. Thank you for your comment and Thank you for your support
You are welcome Linda. At times we can see 10/15 degrees. Not as cold as some northern states but we still have to watch the weather. Thanks for your question. Be sure to watch for new videos this spring.
At this time we don't Andrew we have had to do an awful lot of renovating here on the poultry pens and quail pens and have not started to raise Birds again at this time
No rattlesnake but we get lots of blacksnakes . We have to thin them out once in awhile. I hate to but there would be to many if we didn't control them.
Brianna that is a 64 dollar question. Not trying to be smart but I don't know for sure 🤔🤔 If they are a type of bobwhite quail I think they should be able to. If another follower can answer the question please do Thanks for your support all
+J&L Homestead Not on the bigger birds J&L but we have from time to time on the smaller birds, how snakes will not bother to bad and they are a benefit with the mice and poisonous snacks. It's the farrel cat's that we have to watch for. Thanks for you question, and we like you're channel
Are you still raising the Tibetan quails for hunting? Do they still fly decent. I'm torn between bobwhites and Tibetan. I've raised a lot of coturnix for meat and eggs so I am familiar with them. I would prefer the faster turnaround of the Tibetan as long as they fly decent. Thanks...
We like the Tibetan or the Conturnx quail better because they are more disease tolerant than bobwhite quail however I think dogs can send bobwhite quail better. We do have a lot of customers that prefer the Tibetans or Conturnx quail for dog training because they're a little less money and there a little stronger bird
We really don't have much of an issue, almost no issue with rats we have more trouble with stray and feral cats than anything but once in a while we do have a rat issue and we deal with it quickly thank you for your question and for watching our videos
i prefer wire cloth over chicken wire because chicken wire gets very brittle over only a few yeara with all or weather changes here in Washington state.
+Shokara2 I can see where it would there. I think you guys receive a lot of rain also and if you are close to the saltwater it will really speeds up the datereation of the wire. We don't have that much of an issue here. We get about seven to eight years ounce our pens
theoutdoorsportsmen / Carolina Outdoors we have a small poultry farm (400 chickens or so) and while we are up in the mountians so salt water isnt an issue.... big predators ARE. We have to make our enclosures tough enough to deal with the weather and predators. Our best solution for ground predators is electric mesh fencing which is hooked up to a cattle charger. Works well most of the time. We pasture raise so we also have a MAJOR problem with air based predators (mostly red tails and bald eagles). We are looking into quail to diversify out farm. Ive had quite a few requests not only for eggs but also meat and hunting birds. We use a certified organic non gmo feed we ship in from a mill in state. they make a chick feed thats ground pretty fine... would quail be able to eat that or do they need a special feed?
+theoutdoorsportsmen / Carolina Outdoors most of our Predator issues here are feral cats and stray dogs or wild dogs we've had to do the electric fence also and we've also had to take other measures as far as the food goes we feed our Quail as chicks a chick starter the same as you would for small chickens or small chicks and that works really well for them as they get older we change over to a game bird feed which has Milo in it and sunflower seeds and crack corn and they really like that. You can find it at most any Farm Supply. Just remember when they are chicks and you changing their diet around to do it gradually. One reason we change them from the chick starter or grower feed to the game bird feed is it is about half the price and with as many birds as we raise through the year it helps cut the cost and they do seem to prefer it more. thank you for your comments by the way I really enjoyed talking to you from Washington State and I appreciate you taking a look at our videos. If we can help you and answer any other questions please let us know and check out our website at www.quailhollowbirdfarm.com
+Luis Diaz well Luis we usually start them off slow from the starter or flight conditioner feed to game bird feed to let their digestive systems adjust to the change I don't think you should just do a sudden changeover too quickly.Thank you for your comment and for your support and I'm glad you like the video will be posting a new one next week
hello thank you for your question yes we do ship quail eggs when we have them right now we're out of stock because we are redoing egg production part of the farm
nice setup, I have bought bobwhite's before to have some fun with my gun, ( and brittany) Now I live in suburban florida, and going to raise bobwhite's as meat birds along side my ducks/chickens, in your opinion how much room does one trio of bob's need? Im going to build a little hutch about 5 feet off the ground. thanks.
If you would build something 5' square and 3' high will be plenty of room for them. Use rabbit cage mesh wire for the floor so they don't get in there droppings. Thanks for your comment and question
+michael therrien thank you for your comment Michael we have a llewellin Setter that we use quite a bit his name is Sammy. Also have a German Wirehair, and German Shorthair. Thanks for getting in touch with us and leaving a comment we appreciate it
young rats can get through chicken-wire mesh - need 1/4" to keep them out - more critical to keep them out of the brooding house - but they will attack adult quail - may not kill but can injure them - sheet metal around base is important if using this chicken wire mesh - some ground predators (cats for example) will cruise along the edges, reach in, snag them with a claw and literally pull them through - like the landscaping - we do that too - as natural as possible - wire mesh floor is bad for their feet - we don't release ours (Coturnix Pharaoh Quail ), just flag them and use them for pointer training - flags help in finding them after flushing and blanking - thanks for the info
thank you from the added information. I'm sure our viewers will appreciate it. We don't have much trouble with the rats or the cats because we very aggressively control this problem however we have had issues with hoot owls when they get into the pen we just put a glove on grab them and turn them loose and fix where the hole is. We appreciate your comments and your support

I think they do better on the ground. We have a few above ground pens and those quail do not seem to do as good.
I'd imagine the metal surrounding the base of the pen is critical to prevent losses when raising them on the ground is that correct?
Yes but we also use it to keep cats dogs and other animals from spooking the birds. Thanks for your comments

Really enjoyed your video

+Daniel Mitchell Daniel, for 30 quail I would say a pen 8/10 foot in diameter would be sufficient. Thanks for the question and watching.
What do you do with all the eggs?
If are eggs are Coturnix quail we put them in the incubator and hatch them out. Usually Bob White we don't have that many
Do you sell any bobwhites at this time?
