Hey!! I've been watching your videos as I just started my indoor plant collection. I decided to save the plants that were at a grocery store outside before a freeze. I now have 7 new plants I'm learning about. Of course, with sick plants comes bugs. So here is my question. I have two pots of monsteras that I need to repot. They also have aphids. Should I repot them after a treatment for aphids? How many should I put in one pot? They are all different sizes and some have larger spaces between nodes. Also, my kids have helped tear some of the leaves apart 🤦♀️ they have new growth but aphids are finding the new leaves! I love your channel and will be making a moss pole for them when I repot them. @@KillThisPlant I will treat them tonight in my shower and re-pot them in a week or two. Will you send the link to the video for the soil mixture you recommend? Lastly, my neem oil says I can treat the soil. Should I treat the soil while I treat the leaves?
Separating roots, and even better cutting from top to bottom on pot bound roots is very important on woody and long lived plants. Without doing so the roots can end up girdling each other and killing the plant. Always important to do on trees, but likely monstera or similar would not end up living long enough for it the be a big issue.

I try to treat the problem with castille soap and hydrogen peroxide, and also with yellow traps, but I assume that some pests are inevitable, they are part of the living things and I don't want to use harsh chemicals ..... I hope that those thrips will stay away from my plants !

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try. It's difficult to do without getting recording equipment in the shot. There is no such thing as a low light plant. Only plants (like a zz plant) that will die slower than most plants in low light. ZZ plants can take a good amount of bright light.

I’ve watched your previous videos (some multiple times! You’re great!). I’m puzzled how best to set up this monstera for success because it’s planted in at least three, almost four different directions. I did a couple temporary bamboo stakes to give its heaviest stems support until I have a solid plan. A lot of the newer, smaller leaves look squished. I don’t thiiiink I should repot it right now because it’s the dead of winter in Berlin right now. Any chance I could send you a photo for your opinion? There is a lot of noise on tiktok, and its extremely difficult to communicate all the important information you'd need to answer that question. Now when you say hydrophobic plants - I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Most aroids (philodendron, pothos, syngoniums, monstera) grow well in water, it is a good idea to occasionally add nutrients to the water. There are aquarium plants that are meant to grow under water, but that's a whole other thing. I think your best answer on an individual basis is to google, "can (plant) grow in water?" and see what comes up.
I know this video is about monsteras. But, when I heard you use the term, “corkscrew,” it fits the description of what I think my philo birkin is doing. I was already planning to stake it. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
I’m always shocked to hear Treubii “moonlight” his a slow grower for people - mine is a beast and starts a new leaf before the most recent is finished hardening off. I don’t do anything special. Just medium indirect light and basic fertilizer.
I’m so happy I found your channel, you’re amazing, I’ve already learned so many things!!! I have a quick question about a monstera my mom has, it’s been through a lot and I was hoping you could help🤞it had rot so we tried to repot it but the soil was a little damp so I think it ended up a bit too packed, it looked terrible, then she kinda shoveled more dirt on it so a good portion of the stems buried… do you think I should try to repot it again or just try to get cuttings from it to start over?
I think that depends on a lot of factors. Is the plant still rotting, how do we know? Was there root loss? Was there so much root loss it should have been put in a smaller pot? How was the plant treated to prevent the rot from spreading? What's the soil like? I think if all these issues weren't addressed than your plant might still be in a precarious state. It's a judgement call, I cant really make it for you without the whole story.

I am new monster lover and owner. I recently purchased a monstera with 5 "unsplit" leaves. The plant was about 11" tall. I cut one stem near the base and within weeks, a new stem grew adjacently to cut stem and a large split leaf grew and unfurled. ❤ Will new stems and leaves grow or will my 4 remaining original leaves eventually split? I'm not looking very hard for indoor growers who have seen their plants fruit but the most I've seen is them bloom in greenhouse like conditions. I'm sure its possible!
I have a huge monstera but it has a lot of blooms on the bottom and just one that shots straight up. It looks weird. Should I cut that top one off and replant it.
Hello I have a Monstera Deliciosa want to know what type of moss pole to get and I repot my Monstera do I bury the aerial roots or just leave them out of the Nursery pot or should I repot in a Terracotta pot
I just started following you and I love your videos. I have a variety of plants, but my monstera is my fav. I have noticed that she is not looking as healthy as she has in the past, and her leaves are not making the fenestrations like it was. I have not moved her or changed my watering habits. Do you think maybe she needs to be repotted or should I move her to another space?
What's odd for me is that the stem on my monstera grew down for some reason. I repotted a few weeks ago and found six inches of fully green stem below the soil which wasn't there before. Do you know why this is? Is it abnormal?
Bro I have a question I have monstera that I repotted I purchased if from lowes they cut some of the leaves off that we're damaged BUT the plant is still creating jew leaves But the cut stems are starting to turn yellow and die I just wanted to make sure this wouldn't effect my seems that are still healthy?
Important to know the structure of the plant first: Leaf attached to petiole, petiole attached to the stem. If the store had cut the leaf off, and just left a petiole, eventually the petiole will turn yellow and fall off. The stem will still be healthy. The plant will continue to grow new leaves like your is.
I'm propagating two different type's of plants in a amber colored bottle and the water gets very stinky I rinsed everything but it keeps on getting stinky. should I be worried they only have few roots.
I just googled it and learned that while it is commonly called Satin Pothos, it is not! I have one, that’s why I recognized it. 😊Edit #2: I also have a Silver Sword. 😄
I just become in propagating plants 🪴 and ran into you and you know your stuff and everytime I'm having a problem with something your videos come up and answers and she me what to do. 😊
I received a solitary cutting of a Monstera Deliciosa in a plant swap a few months ago. I did bury the stem when I potted it, and it has since just sat there in the pot, neither growing nor dying. My actual question is: should I repot it with the stem above the soil, or would it be better to repot the plant correctly? I'm still a little unclear on this point.
I love the disclaimer at the beginning that you don't automatically have to run and repot your monstera.
I was already on my way when I heard him say that...
I was already running towards my baby monsteras 🤣

Do you think maybe she needs to be repotted or should I move her to another space?
How's fertilizing? Check for pests. Check the roots to consider a repot.
In that order
Thank you. It may be that the roots may be too deep. I saw that they were exposed and put more soil in the pot. Dang! I'm the culprit.@@KillThisPlant
If I propagate my monstera, will it start back over and have to mature again or will it continue the process of aging before cutting?
If you take a cutting from the top, It will continue to mature. Cutting from anywhere else it will restart.
Someone correct me if im wrong, a top cutting will continue. A mid/low cutting will start again with juvenile leaves
What's odd for me is that the stem on my monstera grew down for some reason. I repotted a few weeks ago and found six inches of fully green stem below the soil which wasn't there before. Do you know why this is? Is it abnormal?
Hmm not sure. I'd have to see it to learn a bit more.
@@KillThisPlant Sure! how can I go about sending you the image? yt is deleting my comments with imgur links 😅
@@bens2248 in my about section, instagram or discord.
Can I please pay you for a monstera facetime call assessment?? I need to propagate I don’t know where to start 😢❤
Do u recommend to cut the long long Arial roots of the monstera deliciosa? (it's in smart pot with pon)
If it's in the way, sure. Ideally cut it to a length where it can be guided back into the pot.
Bro I have a question
I have monstera that I repotted I purchased if from lowes they cut some of the leaves off that we're damaged BUT the plant is still creating jew leaves
But the cut stems are starting to turn yellow and die
I just wanted to make sure this wouldn't effect my seems that are still healthy?
Important to know the structure of the plant first:
Leaf attached to petiole, petiole attached to the stem.
If the store had cut the leaf off, and just left a petiole, eventually the petiole will turn yellow and fall off. The stem will still be healthy. The plant will continue to grow new leaves like your is.
I got a monsterra 2 months ago & just notice rust under the leaves. What can I do to get rid of it?
Treat with an antifungal, best to cut those leaves (if possible) wear gloves, wash hands, isolate plant.
Just brought a monstera abt 2ks ago .worried abt feeding, should l ,can I just do water?

Damn bro, you are built! How often do gym?
ha thanks (i assure you i am not). just two days a week now.
I'm propagating two different type's of plants in a amber colored bottle and the water gets very stinky I rinsed everything but it keeps on getting stinky. should I be worried they only have few roots.
Could be the plants themselves that are rotting?
Are you adding fertiliser to your water? If you’re growing the plants lack nutrients usually received from the soil
great video!
Nice exotica man. Is that a single plant or multiple ones?
Thanks! I bought it as a 6" plant. Probably around 5-6 stems in there.
I DM'd you on instagram a few days ago. Check your inbox!
@KillThisPlant Alright I just checked and didn't see a message from you. Could you resend @the.planted.eye
@@theplantedeye weird. That's who I sent it to. Check your message request/hidden message/spam folder or you can message me.
I need your help with my Adansonii!
Ok sure.
That’s a Satin Pothos, isn’t it?
I just googled it and learned that while it is commonly called Satin Pothos, it is not! I have one, that’s why I recognized it. 😊Edit #2: I also have a Silver Sword. 😄
scindapsus has such strange naming. I feel like 3 or 4 plants are often named silver anne/silvery anne/satin pothos in nurseries
You have to take care of pests over a month. Their life cycle is 2weeks. So after 2weeks the new baby pests will pop up...😅
How about the variegated monstera cutting?
My cutting continues to not rot!
💚
thats what she said?

I just become in propagating plants 🪴 and ran into you and you know your stuff and everytime I'm having a problem with something your videos come up and answers and she me what to do. 😊
You should collab with @plantswithcrystal
I received a solitary cutting of a Monstera Deliciosa in a plant swap a few months ago. I did bury the stem when I potted it, and it has since just sat there in the pot, neither growing nor dying.
My actual question is: should I repot it with the stem above the soil, or would it be better to repot the plant correctly? I'm still a little unclear on this point.
Monstera in a new environment, repotted, maybe in winter?
Seems like it could use more time to grow.
Told everyone about you. Do what the pros do = *Promo sm*!!
