    The craftbag is almost a gamechanger for me. That you have to pay for it, and cant buy it in the store, is absolutly max greed!!!

      My wife was complaining about lack of storage in the house, how we never have enough room for everything and then I realized that the most frustrating thing you can do to a player is give them loot but not give them storage. They will pay thousands of dollars just to have room for stuff, most of which isn't used daily. Genius.

    i would tell anyone who tries the game and likes it to buy the base game (or any bundles that are on sale) and if you think you really want to go all in, buy ESO plus. Completely avoid the crown store otherwise

      Same. Base game is a great way to start and see if you really want to spend some serious time with the game. When you know you want to, the plus subscription gives by far the best value.

    Totally agree with the point at 23:27. Looking cool in this game means nothing. Most if not all of my "fancy mounts" or outfits I've gotten so far are from daily log-in rewards or during events, so it really lessens the importance of them. You just get them from being online at the right time, not from actually doing something meaningful in the game. It sucks.

    The krazy part about all of this is that when ES6 comes out and 5 years or so later, for whatever reason, they just decide to stop hosting ESO servers... All that $$ spent over 10+ is gone, just because someone up the chain of command decided to stop hosting servers. It's something to start thinking abt in 2024 as more and more of these game companies start going the "Live service" route.. This is by design, it's more lucrative and there's no guarantee that your hundreds and in some cases tens of thousands of hard earned dollars will have something to show for it. If you have no problem with that, more power to ya but as a middle aged 9-5 kinda guy, I'm finding it harder to justify not "owning" the things that I'm buying.

    • @notiowegian
      @notiowegian 4 місяці тому

      Take solace that the predatory store will actual encourage them to keep the game open. There are always idiots who will log on getting mommy to buy them $200 worth of crowns and spend them and that itself will pay for servers.

    Armory allows you to change your attributes, mundus and curse as well. That's why it's used even on pc with Wizards. My DK has a tank slot and a dps slot. Then I use Wizards to change the tank builds. My NB has like 6 slots cause at the time it was my only character and i used it for dps/healing/tanking/pvp/etc. It's super dumb that slots are per character and you cannot even remove one from one character and use on another.

    I haven't bought it but the things in the store that make me the most upset (akin to purchase regret) are things that are given for simply playing the game
    The Soul Shriven costume pack shouldn't exist. Period. But as a compromise for its existence, it should have never been dropped into a crate. You unlock this style from the base game main quest and can unlock it before level 50. Not only that but the style page is better than the costume because you can swap out a piece for something else and costumes lock you into the entire outfit
    Same for the Mages Guild costumes, which unlock from levelling up. Selling it in a crate means I may get this as an un-returnable "reward" in a crate then hit level 20 and that achievement drop is now meaningless
    Now that I've got the blood pumping: every un-returnable pet I've found in a crate is a regretted purchase. Every trash potion from a crate, regretted purchase. I've never liked buying crates but getting a crate of all potions and re-spec scrolls or a really ugly face marking really made me see how pointless crates were

    Imagine if mounts could drop from PvE rewards or chests randomly and for sure from long quest lines or raid achievements. Imagine if we could fish up pets and treasures.

    ESO is one of the last few games that have loot boxes... every other company has moved on since what happened with Star Wars Battlefront 2... that game proved that loot boxes were there to exploit people, especially children. But there are still so many people in ESO that buy crowns with gold and crown crates... as long as this continues, nothing will change. Although if ZOS decides to get rid of loot boxes and actually made the cosmetics at a decent value, this would open up for more people to buy it, and if they brought more earnable cosmetics to the game, like you said it will bring more people to the game to play cause if nobody played this game... Well, this game will be finished. I like earning cool stuff by playing the game. It just feels like I'm repeating the same shit over and over. Just fill the fantasy in my head then to just give ZOS a bunch of money for no other reason other than for something that looks cool digitally for it to then become obsolete in the future. Dont get me wrong, I love ESO and the Elder scroll series. There's nothing like it. It's the only elder scrolls where you can play with friends, make loads of characters, and builds without having that feeling of starting over again like your on the back of a carriage awaiting to get your head chopped off lol. Sorry, bit of a rant, aha 😅

    Honestly, I will take ZOS side on the monetization. I’ve played a crap ton of mmo’s and this is the only that I don’t feel bad for buying crowns. Another way to think of it is the players that are buying crowns and crown crates are keeping the lights on for everyone else to enjoy ESO. And they are pretty generous with the seals of endeavor and allowing players to legally sell crowns for in-game gold. Of course it sucks that a lot of good stuff is behind a pay wall but if it wasn’t no one would buy anything and the subscriptions alone might not be enough for a company like Microsoft who now is in control to not let everyone in ZOS go.

    • @Cooperharley0204
      @Cooperharley0204  8 місяців тому +2

      Couple things with this:
      1. Most of the stuff you see in the crown store can be categorized as either A) in game potential rewards that are now monetized and taken out of the game (ESO has a fairly poor reward structure for gameplay relative to other MMOs) or B) pay for convenience; many systems made to be long/arduous/monotonous in order to sell the solution in the store.
      2. They are currently developing a new MMO/IP that is space-themed. Many ex-ESO developers have been shifted to this product and I guarantee you a LOT of money earned from ESO is going towards development of that game
      3) Seals of endeavor were put in the game as a direct result of Microsoft’s acquisition of ZOS. It stated that the loot crate products needed to be earnable in game. “Earnable” is technically true, but only within 3/4 of the year vs an actual season. So it’s nice that it’s free, but it takes 6-9 months to earn a big ticket radiant apex item if playing DAILY.
      Not saying we need a mandatory sub, but it’s essentially mandatory if you play seriously at all lol. AND the no purchases from the crown store if it was less vigorous I think can be countered with looking at WoW’s store. It’s not nearly as extensive as ESO’s and they still make a TON of money from it 🤷🏻‍♂️
      Appreciate you taking the time to write that out! Cheers friend :)

    • @Daz1187
      @Daz1187 8 місяців тому

      @@Cooperharley0204 appreciate the response. I agree on each of your statements. I played WoW and every “earnable” cool item in that game takes about 3/4 of your life to earn. I remember countless hours flying around looking for a rare spawn that allowed me to get a mount and still to this day haven’t got it. Plus’s they don’t give you cash shop currency when you resub every month. Also, the raids in WoW to get anything good is stuck behind a gear score that most players will automatically kick you for not having that gear score. In ESO a level 600cp can be wayyyy better than a 3600 cp. ESO had many flaws but if people look at it realistically it really outshines wow in every way based on lore, pvp, rewards, and actual fun gameplay. There have been too many negative comments regarding ESO but I think a lot of gamers have become so used to having that new flashy thing that they are no longer satisfied with the actual love put into the game. But that is my opinion and I also feel the same about some of your statements.

      @@Daz1187 Other MMOs are MUCH worse than ESO when it comes to monetization. ESO at least limits it to cosmetics or time savings(sky shards and skill lines). Some other MMOs (almost) literally require you to pay to get ahead in the game.

      It's not free crowns. You're still paying for it. ZOS just gives you that illusion that you are getting stuff for free when, in reality, they are selling you something that SHOULD be free. Lock basic necessity features behind a pay wall, sell you the features, gives you some crowns to keep you happy to pay every month, its a business strategy, ESO is the only game I have ever played where I have to SPEND REAL MONEY TO CHANGE THE COLOUR OF MY CHARACTERS HAIR!!! Every other game has something where you can go to customise your character whenever you want, but not ESO. You have to pay for that. There's a paywall for everything in this game.
