This is one of the best tutorials for any difficult and complex subject that I have ever reviewed on UA-cam. It is very well thought out and clear, and has given me the courage to purchase this drone. Bravo!
59 years old, drone noob. Just bought my P4 today and watched your tutorial Justin, I'll be taking my first flight during the week - Greetings from the UK, and thanks for the simple instructions!
Got to say, after watching how-to-for-newbie-vids all day, this one is by far the best, thank you man! With your help I think my son and I will be able to have a succesful first day when the copter arrives!
Very well explained even for me and I am 76 years old and found it easy to understand.I am really looking foreward to getting some good shots .Channel Islands U.K England
excellent-- best video Instructor found. down to earth and usable information...not filled with unnecessary "whatevers". New to Drone flying....this guy is the way to go. THANK YOU Drone Camps RC
My g/f just bought me one, and this is one of the best step by step "how to" videos that I've seen for a noob like myself. Too cool to see you're local too! (I live in east Mult. county) Thank you for putting this material together... so very helpful.
Justin, you are an awesome professor. Mix a little reality and humor in with tons of practical tips, like calibration of the UAV "before" installing propellers. Fabulous!
Dude drone guy awesome video one of the best I've seen yet for beginners. I fly TREX 550 Helicopters and I'm going to get the phantom 4 next. To all the new pilots starting out follow this channel its awesome.
Great video, good advice. I just got my phantom 4 pro today, i wont fly it until the weekend so im making sure i read up and watch you guys. Never flown before so thank you. Ceri Wales uk
Thanks Justin I've just bought the P4 Advance Plus and waiting for it to arrive in the post. I've been watching tour tutorial on First Day Flying and have learnt so much, will watch this a few more times yet so I will be more competent when mine arrives. Thanks from Peter in Australia..!!!
Superb video fella , just got a new P4 and it's my first drone.Look forward to more video's like this for beginners they are very very helpful.Keep up the good work much appreciated.
Nice video, I am going to be buying one in the next few weeks and have been watching all the videos. Yours stands out by answering 1 basic question I have not seen. It was how to calibrate. I knew all the other phantoms had to but all the P4's have never shown it. Thanks!
great video man very much appreciated small things that you alluded too make all the difference like switching it on for example press and hold for 2 secs thanks again
Well done! Motivates me to learn the basics that you show as I get used to the DJI. I especially like your emphasis on flight safety and protecting the copter.
Thanks JD, I have a new P4, and am working up the courage to fly for the 1st time. Your video has helped me, I had problems calibrating, as I was trying indoors, and calibrating with the props on.
Justin as you can see, I am reviewing your older videos. As you also know my first expensive DJI drone was unfortunately stolen during one of my visits home from returning from my deployment from overseas. I just purchased another DJI phantom 4 which should be in my hands tomorrow that was shipped out this past Saturday and oddly, I called the FAA and my 107 license was just mailed out this past Friday as well so therefore I should be getting them both near the same time. I am learning as much as I can from you being a retired disabled vet. Thankfully flying drones commercially is one job with my injuries that I will be able to do thankfully. I also have an expensive very light weight thermo camera that I will be installing on it for search and rescue operations this hurricane season as this past hurricane season was terrible here so therefore a lot is going on. I am going with your recommendation on getting a DJI mini as you recommended and actually once I start getting into more commercial jobs, I would like to go on and purchase the phantom 4 pro also.
I totally hope you make a similar video for the DJI Mavic Pro, I'm planning on getting one and it'll be my first drone so this video alone taught me a ton! Thank you!
I just got my Phantom 4 Pro Plus Obsedian. Was watching your 1st day video. About putting up the props... Each prop has a locking and unlocking marking on both side of the prop. The Prop with black ring needs to turn clockwise to lock and counterclockwise to unlock. The props with silver ring are the opposite way.
i just bought my dji phantom and going to take it for its first flight today .... i watched this video and found it very clear and very good first tutorial thanks dude i am gonna subscribe and watch more thanks again 😎 Manchester UK .
Thank you for making it so simple. Work at a petroleum refinery in Durban, South Africa...have a device on hand with me right now. You have helped me by removing all fear without having to troll through the manuals just yet. Need to use this tech for risk assessment monitoring including infrared fugitive leak identification. Count me in as a sub. Regards Raj
Great video, thanks for putting this up. There are lots of videos our there by people with good intention but containing little real information, and some others that are really well done and address more advanced topics which will be very helpful later when I have mastered the basic skills. As an 'Old fella' with zero experience of flying, getting the drone out of the box and reading the limited instructions, I did not feel confident to try and fly, I did not understand the basic functions sufficiently. Your basic instruction was brilliant, just what I and I am sure many others have and will find gives them the confidence to fly without crashing on the first outing. I will be looking out for your other videos. You should send this to dji to use (with a royalty to you), to help other potential customers to have the confidence to purchase their drone products. Thank you, great work.
Greetings from Australia :) Thanks so much for this tutorial, Justin. I'll admit I was hesitant getting it out of the box, but you instilled confidence! I've unboxed, charged and now ready to go out and do each of your first flight steps. I'll let you know how I go.
Thanks Justin I doing my research now, as this old guy is planning on buying a drone in next few months. A lot of great information for someone who hasn't flown any UAS. Was great to SEE not just hear the things to do in the beginning. 👍🏻
Dang, after 4 years of owning this copter I just now discovered how to properly calibrate the thing! I was turning the machine 360 with my hands while standing still. lol proves we fall on most simple things.. Great tutorial, though I expected to see the follow me functions in use.
Justin, Thank you for all the videos. You helped me decide on the Obsidian edition. I agree with you about the cable but the Pro+ does have it's own controller attached and does not require a cable...extra $300 bones though.
Thank you so much! You're video helped me a lot! The first day I got my drone I read everything that was in the box and just honestly wanted to take off just to see it fly. And then I was panicking because it thought it was going to fly away and didn't know how to bring it down. I finally managed and haven't used it since then. I came here to get some knowledge on drones I even watched a few before I even bought it but you're video helped a lot, you have nice tips. Thank you!
Having never flown a drone before, I'm thinking of buy a Phantom 4 Pro. My question is there any disadvantages of buying the display over using my iPhone? Thanks for the great informative video
Justin. I just got one at pawn mint shape for 650. Bought two more batteries from best buy weekend sale at 140 each. It is awesome. Picked up a think tank carry case. I really like it. Thank you
Drone Camps RC is there a way to see how much flight time the first owner put on it. Also it has in my flight records a name he gave it. It would be nice to rename it. He nsmrs it Oranges. Which is ok but would be nice to give it my own name.
Drone Camps RC oh one mention is the p4p battery has more power in the battery. I called dji and they said they were comparable. What batteries do you like. Also any add on items of mention. Thanks. I got an air also and a bebop2 and a fee others. My birthday turned sixty
Learned so much watching this video. I've watched so many Drone vids this is the one that helped so much. Can't wait to get my Phantom 4 airborne!! What software did you use to overlay music over the video? Thank you!
Waiting on my Mavic to arrive sometime this century. I PLAN to do nothing but flying in squares and along the axes of a 3D cube inc diagonal until I've got it nailed before doing anything else.
This may be a dumb question but I'm a newbie to drones. Are the camera angles on the better drones, with gimbals, adjustable with an app while in flight, or are they stationary to the position set prior to flight? I guess an easier way to ask it is if the drone were hovering in a stationary position, can i see different angles with the camera by changing the angle of the camera with some type of app or program? Thanks for the help! Jim
I've got a Phantom 4 Pro on order. I have never flown a drone before so I'm taking in all I can by way of youtube and reading. I have one question in regards to this video... You powered on your drone and powered on your remote and went through the compass calibration. You then put the props on the drone and it showed you power on your drone and remote for a second time. So how often do you have to do the compass calibration? It appears you can calibrate and then power off/on your unit and not lose your calibration?
Great video! I just bought a 4 yesterday. It's sitting on the floor next to my desk. I'm too overwhelmed to even open the box. This was very helpful video. Subbed. If I use an iPhone 6 as my monitor, what happens if someone calls or texts while I'm flying?
This is one of the best tutorials for any difficult and complex subject that I have ever reviewed on UA-cam. It is very well thought out and clear, and has given me the courage to purchase this drone. Bravo!
59 years old, drone noob. Just bought my P4 today and watched your tutorial Justin, I'll be taking my first flight during the week - Greetings from the UK, and thanks for the simple instructions!

Got to say, after watching how-to-for-newbie-vids all day, this one is by far the best, thank you man! With your help I think my son and I will be able to have a succesful first day when the copter arrives!

roger gerrish How’s the drone flight’s going Roger?
First couple flights under my belt. I appreciate your detail in explaining each step from unboxing to first flight, keep up the great work!
Just ordered the phantom 4 advanced. I have never flew one before. I've watched tons of videos and yours seemed to be most useful.
Really great to see Justin goes slowly and shows screen icons. Nice to see a set training routine. Must see more of this great trainer.
Justin, that was the clearest, most helpful video I've seen in a long time. Thanks very much .... education at it's best.
excellent-- best video Instructor found. down to earth and usable information...not filled with unnecessary "whatevers". New to Drone flying....this guy is the way to go. THANK YOU Drone Camps RC
Great video! Well spoken and very informative. 10 out of 10, great job man, Thanks!

Great video Justin!! The part I still have trouble with is the nose in. Definitely will keep practicing on that before I buy the Phantom
+Alan Savage the more nose in practice the better. I started with single rotor helis and that was the hardest part. - JD

Great video. Extremely helpful

Excellent video, really informative. I thought the woman walking in to the background 18:49 was going to strip off and fat pie bomb the video!
MrSoflash she did, he just cut that part out for himself for personal use only.

Great tutorial, learned a lot, thanks
You're most welcome Mike. Thanks for watching.
