That is an excellent point! I'm not a programmer, but it seems to me if "build route" snaps to roads and trails the coding for snapping to elevation would not be too dissimilar. Such a feature would be extremely useful for foraging mushrooms and other wild edibles, including those that game animals like to feed on. For example, persons scouting high country notice blueberries growing in a south-facing cirque between 4200 and 5400 feet of elevation but see more evidence of other campers and hunters using the area than what they want to deal with. With a "snap to elevation" function they could paint a band and look for similar bowls a little farther away from trailheads or only accessible via bushwhacking routes.
Wow, that was super informative. Since I don't presently have On X, it was super informative as to what things can be looked at. I Love it, I will be getting On x. Thanks Trent and thanks to Dillon for taking this time to show me what's out there.
Love/Hate OnX & like apps. People no longer have to put boots on the ground to scout new country. Out of staters (I live in MT) are showing up in remote areas they would have zero chance of finding without OnX. Those of us who have spent countless hours and years to learn areas to hunt are being overrun by e-scouting warriors. 😣
I AGREE!! I have been Elk hunting the same spot for 23 years. A elk spot that is very difficult to get to. . Last 2 years I have had dozens and dozens of People and groups walk right through the bottom of the Canyon or across the Canyon . No joke like groups of 5. I went over to a camp next to mine to tell them what has been going on. And they said have you pulled up OnX yet and applied the ELK LAYERS. I was absolutely flabbergasted when I seen they labeled my Canyon a RMEF location. Its like basically telling all the new and out of state hunters exactly where to go. My area is now worthless
I agree, I’m also a Montanan and it’s lots of out of staters in the most remote spots. They spend the money and buy the tags so I respect that aspect. Just miss when people didn’t know all the honey holes from e-scouting.
Out of staters also account for a huge portion of your fish and wildlife budget. We have gone out there in general units for a few years and have no problems finding elk by the road
Thanks guys that was a great video I love Onx too. Do you have any advice for finding more contact info on Onx if it’s a LCC or if it just gives you a name and PO Box.
Love ON X I use it for scouting hunting and this year I started using it for foraging mushrooms by using the elevation grids
Absolutely love ON X. It has been an absolute game changer! So helpful in so many ways. I hope to always have it! Thanks for the info, Dillion!
Thanks for this helpful info. Always happy when Born and Raised have a new video
On x is awesome! Always great to hear different perspectives! Keep up the great work!
Definitely some really helpful tips on tools I wasn’t really using! Thanks for another great video guys!
Thanks for all the tips Dylan and Trent !! Definitely picked up some new tips on E scouting !!!
The ability to create a track or profile around the perimeter of an elevation band would be good.

Great job guys even though I sadly won’t be elk hunting these principles and techniques will still work for deer 🦌 hunting
Lots of great info, thanks for the info on how to use the hole app
Love all the good information!! Super helpful!
Think im going to try my 2nd elk hunt this fall. This gets me so jacked.
Haven't checked if you guys have done a video on this yet, but I'd love to hear your application strategies to get tags every year.
Do you guys have a bag for your big bugle color so you can have everything ready to go.
Holy shit this is the best E scouting video I have ever seen, awesome video
looking forward to this one
Love on x for hunting. I don't really like to e-scout though. Prefer to walk around more.
ive got sooo many waypoints its crazy. i got plan a -z but still. boots on the ground is the only way

Does on x have ways of property owners to be able to post no hunting on the app?
When is OnX going to allow unlimited markup?

If you need an app to help you hunt, then your not an actual hunter!
