Found your video while searching for Route 66 from Chicago to St. Louis, which we are planning to do next week. I ended up watching your whole journey and look forward to one year going from St. Louis to Santa Monica. You make a great traveling duo. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
I loved the video. You two are great. I was searching for videos about Route 66 because I plan to go in the future. I'm glad I found yours. It was insightful. You also made me want to watch the Cars movie again haha.
Of your ten spots in this video, my favorite has to be Santa Fe, New Mexico! I spent a week there a couple of years ago, and didn't see/do all I wanted! If you do this again, plan to spend an extra day there and go on an indian reservation tour! I did this and the guide was excellent with answering questions. Now I want out of quarantine to go do the whole route 66! Tfs!
Stumbled upon your vlog looking for ideas on road trip via route 66 to New Mexico to visit my 91 year old mother... i have 1 week vacation, just not sure if this is enough time before i have to come back to work...watching you from Ohio...
Thank you for driving the entire "Mother of All Roads". In December 2019 we only had the pleasure of driving from Kingman to Williams via Seligman and retour. We enjoyed every meter ( or shall we say: mile ?)
Mufflerman was made by my dad Bill Swan at international fiberglass along with many other iconic fiberglass statues I think his most popular he made is Paul Bunyan ,Bobs big boy and the Ford Mustang horse
Hi, Just saw your vlogs tonight when we were looking for tips on traveling route 66. We are looking to do it next year and we were wondering how and who put your trip together. We did Australia in December/January and did our own hotel bookings ourselves, but got the flights done through travel agent. Just wondering how you're trip was organised. And your hire car, who organised that? We are in Scotland. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for watching. We did about 5 months of planning before our trip, all flights and hotels we booked ourselves in advance. Although many people just go with the flow, we didn’t want to have to be looking for somewhere to stay every night, also cheaper to book in advance and guarantee vacancies etc. Also the car hire we did ourselves through Avis preferred, the price of this can be quite high as they charge a lot for one-way rental. The prices also vary, sometimes you look and one company is cheaper than another, then it changes the following week. We try to avoid the unknown companies who try and charge all the extras and blame you for every mark on the car. We did have full cover and zero excess. We used the EZ Guide to help us plan (although it does take a long time to get used to the way it was written) and also the maps by the same author which were good once you got used to it. Like you, we also watched UA-cam. We planned each day by time and not by distance. Google maps can be good for this. Overall, the planning was correct for most days although a couple were too a bit long, but not bad for a first attempt. We loved the trip and will try and do it again or at least parts of it.
Hi again, Thanks for your reply,we would be like you and book accommodation in advance. We would use booking.com as we have used them before for Australian trip and USA trip before. Thanks for info on car hire too and hubby had seen the EZ book on the internet while nosing about. Thanks again stay safe
