I would say best combat in any game ever. Still. If we don't get Sekiro 2, it will be a shame, because they already have the perfect formula, now imagine cranking it all to 11.
Exactly this. I like games that you learn like a sport or instrument. You get more skilled as you progress. It is more satisfying than collecting XP or loot. 💪🏼
I love this game so much that I´ve completed it 8 times. When it originally released back in 2019 I bought it on Steam, completed it 4 times to get all endings and recently bought it again on PS5, beat it 4 times again and platinum it.
Good review but I noticed one small mistake: resurrecting doesn't cause Dragonrot, only dying does. So never hold back on resurrecting during battle because intentionally dying is what makes it worse. But then again, Dragonrot is such a negligible game mechanic and can be fixed so easily that it shouldn't be something you worry about in the first place.
Still the most satisfyingly brutal combat in a game ever! Once you get to grips with the rhythm of the mechanics it becomes so much easier. Also the atmosphere, sound and story is incredibly authentic to Japanese culture and lore.
Today I completed this, my god it was amazing, combat is unlike I've seen in gaming. It's a dance, once you understand it's rhythm, there's no stopping.🔥
Been recently playing the mortal journey charmless + demon bell and… yeah, sekiro is still the best. The feeling of accomplishment you experience when winning against all odds remains unmatched. Still my favorite game of all time
I just got to Mibu Village today, and i was absolutely horrified by the atmosphere of that place. It made me realize how beautiful the game is even in what is essentially a horror setting. Obviously a flawless combat experience, but the world design and art is insanely well crafted in every area, and it opened my eyes to what games can feel like.
JUST FINISHED. I am now dining on every thing saying how hard it is. I think 6 months I've been at it (very busy and can't spend all day playing). Hardest game I've ever played and most rewarding.
Sekiro has the perfect combat system in any sword fighting game i ever experienced. its like an amazing rhythm. From software, excellently crafted the enemies AIs and Boss fights. I will not call sekiro as a masterpiece yet, because of not being a large open world like Elden ring and not having more content like Elden ring. Wish the sequel fulfill my dream.
Different ppl like different things, so this is just my opinion. But I prefer a more streamlined game design where I always know that I am where I supposed to be and each boss fight is designed for the character I am playing right now. Open world and RPG mechanics introduce a lot of problems for me so that I’m always wondering whether I’m playing the game as intended, whether I am over- or underleveled, whether my build is bad, etc. That’s why, for me, having a smaller world and linear experience is actually a feature more than a limitation of the game. 😊
Sekiro is good but prob not perfect nor near of being one, search for Chilvary II/Mordhau, Deepwoken, Star wars Jedi Academy there are probably more that i cant remember of that are better/have more in depth combat system
I started playing Sekiro last week, it's my first Souls-like game... I hit a roadblock around the Hidden Forest and then the village where they grab you from the ground... I'll probably get back to it, but this area feels like such an unpleasant chore... I did read about an interesting nexusmod that turns Elden Ring combat more like Sekiro, that would be more fun than vanilla
Just run all through the hidden forest until you find the singing voice and get onto the 2nd level (hidden path). Once you take out the singing voice, the hidden forest mist lifts and the voices of the dead fall silent..
@@MikePatterson8831 yeah, I did that part, but it was a foggy white hell until I consulted a video to find the path... now I'm in that insufferable zombie leg grabbing part, wishing I could just get to the temple bosses part of the game
I was the same when it first came out…returned the game after a day 😅 Picked the game up again a month ago and just kept trying..the combat does all of a sudden click and becomes easier but challenging. Never thought I’d be good enough beat game but did. Def keep trying and working on the parry system as that’s the key to the combat
Stand still, stand your ground, don’t run around like a chicken without a head. What I’m trying to say is put a restriction on yourself so that your only option is to parry, and focus on that. Once that clicks you’ll be able to do that while moving and combat will open up a lot. After that it’s just pattern recognition
Why People hated it and why its my favorite of all From games.: 4:31 In Sekiro you are forced to play outside of your " Custom Difficulty" builds(Big Armor. Big Shield. Fastest 2h with best damage. Stack STR. GG Ez). It was on YOU to get better, more; so than in any of FS other games.
I don’t know about that sentiment - Elden Ring is definitely a step down from games like Sekiro or BloodBorne. It’s essentially a gigantic, open-world Dark Souls, nothing really innovative.
Tenchu was developed by Acquire, not Fromsoft. They made one tenchu game in the late 2000s that was not very popular. Sekiro was initially intended to be a tenchu game, but Miyazaki did his own thing with the story and it grew into a new IP.
By far the best made From Software game. The best game I can’t beat lol. I wish another game similar to this existed that had a difficultly system lol.
What a stupid question. Ofcourse it's still recommended. It's a masterpiece. Just don't play it like a souls game and learn the deflect based combat properly
I think there are mostly 2 kinds of fromsoft fans. Some are more interested in rpg/ builds/ loot/ multiplayer/ sandbox - some more in challenging combat. If you belong to the first group you might find sekiro lacking. To me the streamlined experience with less complication around RPG mechanics and more focus on one specific little set of intended combat mechanics with steep learning curve is perfect, so I prefer sekiro over every other souls game.
This game looks a Great Deal like the original 'Tenchu' game, which was nothing short of excellent, for it's time. If so, i will absolutely acquire it, At ONCE!!!
After Sekiro i can't play other souls...i start Play EldenRing 2days ago and...no fun to Play, no fun to watch .Sekiro is the only One - sL game that connected with my heart and soul
I have a similar ish feeling. I am a die hard Souls fan but after playing Lies of P and then coming back to Sekiro, it’s just much better combat systems. I really enjoyed Shadow of the Erdtree but I was missing the combat highs coming straight from P
In my first 2-3 hours I was dying a lot on the first mini boss and I was considering giving up and refunding the game but something hit I said to myself “I’m going to beat this game and master it.” But once I mastered sekiro’s mechanics I was hooked. So It’s worth the $30 dollars and the first 4 hours of pain.
Im disappointed that Sekiro is my first souls-like. Because i feel like the others souls-like could never match the combat adrenaline from parrying. Ohhhhhh that sweet sweet TWANG sound. You know the one. Monkey never stood a chance
That's crazy! Feels like it's only been a couple years at most. Covid really messed everything up. Time flys when you're trying to find toilet paper 🧻 and masks 😷 day in and day out. 😂
Ah don’t worry… mostly requires patience. Treat boss fights like practicing a sport. Put in some time, learn from mistakes, repeat. If you don’t manage in a session, come back next day and your brain will have made a lot of adaptions and you will improve. 😊
If I was in charge to hire people for a company I would ask ”Have you beaten Sekiro?” If they say yes I would hire them with no further question 😂
Only if they did it charmless and demon bell
Sekiro taught me to love the parry.
because parry in Sekiro actually works like in God of War 2018 and the sequel. But in Dark Souls, parrying is harder the hardest bosses
I still hate parrying 😅 Probably why I don't want to play this game again
I'm so proud of the fact that I beat this game I wish I could put it on my resume.
😂
lmao
I’d hire you based on that alone 😂
😂😂😂🎯 for real imma try that
In my country on a resume for work they also ask about hobbies so...

Thats exaggerating, it gets repetitive pretty fast, the best is prob Dmc5
Just finished this game recently. Still the best combat system straight out of anime. A bit sad that it has no DLC.
Saying it's the best is exaggerating a bit
One of the top three (if not number 1 ) games ever played.

well duuuh ... it was a master piece then it's obviously still gonna be a masterpiece now xD
damn its been 5 years? sheesh time flies
I still love Sekiro and play it all the time!
Best game ever, in my 4th play through
You forgot to mention that the game had the hardest final boss EVER in video games 😭

After years of being afraid of the challenge I picked up Sekiro last month & finally beat it! Best gaming decision I’ve ever made.
I felt more accomplished beating sekiro than I did graduating college
Just started, 22 hours in, died a million times but hooked
1st playthrough of Sekiro...easily the best Fromsoftware title
The gameplay usually takes all the praise but the characters and story are damn good too
Mastered this game, it only took me 5 years!!
Beautiful combat system, was a meh for me for the first hour but after that, wow 🤩
Man, how I wish fromsoft would make a sequel for this masterpiece!
A journey to the west, openworld style would be a dream come true.
Sekiro prepared me for life ✊
Crazy that I’m watching this and I just started another playthrough
i give up this game because im stuck to that boss called mist noble
The hardest boss I ever fought.
Really? That is the easiest boss in the game. You have to think of parry than attack.

I haven't finished Sekiro. But so far I would give the edge to Elden Ring a little bit. Because you can summon co op partners for help.
There are a lot of repeat bosses in Elden Ring, feels like a quality vs quantity thing there, but they're both good at what they try to do
