      @@SwePol But in real life, they were never de-jure autonomous entities separate from the German nation. On an administrative level, they were governed separately with different rules, but in terms of sovereignty and recognition of some form of limited independence this wasn’t the case. They were a part of the German Reich in the same way territories administered by the army was. Hell, even Soviet republics were de-jure autonomous but all maps depicted them as part of the territory of Russia/USSR in the west. Feel like the same would go for TNO and the eastern territories.

      Same, friend; I was 8 at the time, watching TV with my grandma.
      She had fled Germania before WWII broke out, and since I was little she drilled anti-Nazism into my head. She voted for Scoop Jackson, that’s the best way I can describe it. Tough lady.
      And so, when this happened, my dumb little face looked up at her, expecting joy or pride or anything positive, but it was just…god, it was the first time I saw her scared. I asked why she wasn’t happy, about Germania falling apart, and she said “The Eagle’s fall won’t kill the monster - It will merely split it, and flatten all of Europe under its bloat.” I didn’t really know how to respond.
      I loved my grandma, but I hate that she was sort of right.

    The quality and effort put into these videos are insane, the vintage style of post-WWII American reporting really sells the image of the U.S.A. as one of the last bastions of actual free nations left observing a world dominated by major powers ruling through raw, Godless totalitarianism. This actually reminds me of the original Monument Mythos videos but these are far more believable. Amazing work.

    The more I learn about AI, the more creeped out I get. Posting at 9:40am ET on 6-10-23. In a little less than half an hour, I'll be 60. Had the above-mentioned event really happened on the date given, I'd have been about 4 1/2 months old. A little less than 4 weeks later, an earth-shaking event did indeed occur, namely the JFK assassination.

      Write a script and have some AI voice over it (I used ElevenLabs), then use that audio to lip swap an existing footage (I used Wav2Lip), then cut everything together.

    Really well done, this is very impressive. The only thing I would personally change is the American use of German terms like Reichskommissariat and Germania and such. It just felt slightly immersion breaking to me. I would honestly expect a lot of those words to just get translated into plain English for a mass media broadcast. I would expect German terms to really be limited to foreign policy experts and advisers. So instead of “There are reports of slave revolts in Reichskommissariat Ostland”, it would probably be more like “There are reports of slave revolts in the Baltic and Belarussia” or “in the eastern territories” or just “in Russia”

      There had been realy plans to change the name of Berlin into Germania. So after a german Victory of wwll, Germania would have been correct in early 1960s. And: If Germany realy would have won wwll, there would have been possibly Oswald Mosley as british ( Führer means in german leader OR Guide) head of state and a kind of vassal to Adolf Hitler. In this case, possibly there would have been a tendency to ,regermanize' english language. I am german, but in daily life i don' t speak Standard German ( which is for me a sign of prussification), i prefer my dialect and as a nostalgic, i still know a lot of dated, rare used german words. And in dialect and dated words, i recognize lots of english words. There is a more historical/ scientic/ romantic movement, which thinks about the question: What if Harold had won at Hastings? How would be a germanic ( Not German!) english today, based on Old English. Watch for example channel of Simon Roper. After a german wwll Victory, englishmen possibly would say: I have seen a nameknown Showplayer in the farseer ( Ich habe einen berühmten Schauspieler im Fernsehen gesehen) instead of : I have seen a famous actor in Television.

      @@brittakriep2938 I think it’s an interesting possibility, but I don’t think some sort of mass linguistic reform that actually manages to be accepted is particularly likely. I don’t even think Hitler was too keen on appointing men like Mosley - in almost all of the Axis collaborationist regimes, more respected public figures were picked over the more radical ideological fascist movements and their leaders because the homegrown fascists were harder to control. Point taken on the Germania bit, but as for the rest I think my point still largely stands. Even if we do suppose that English in the former United Kingdom was “germanized”, there’s no reason to suppose that affects American speech as presented in the video above.

      Maybe German became a sort of lingua franca so some names are used in German, as we do today after the Anglos and the Longnosed won the war.

    • @JohnBrownsBody
      @JohnBrownsBody Рік тому

      @@MartinZanichelli Still stretches plausibility. After all, American broadcasts were calling the USSR and China things like “Soviet Russia” and “Red China” on the news and not their full and proper titles like the “Union of Soviet Socialist Republics” and the “People’s Republic of China”.
      Also fuck off with that “longnosed” shit. You’re smarter than that.

    • @Saruman38

      I don't really see a problem to be honest. Even in real life we use a fair number of German words when referring to WW2, like Führer, Panzer, Blitzkrieg, etc. And if we're to bring up current events, it's not uncommon to use non-English words when talking about certain conflicts, for example the word "oblast" to refer to the administrative divisions of Ukraine and Russia. So again, I don't really view this as an issue.
