From past to present, humans enjoyed the nutritious benefits of figs. This video is a wonderful collection of different types of figs that would be useful to the farmers as well as to ordinary people .Thank you very much for your meticulous work .
A fabulous video showing some of the diversity of fig varieties that make up the Wolfskill Orchard Fig Collection at the University of California, Davis. This video was made by one of my FB friends Bass Samaan who owns the Figs of Joy Fig Nursery. Human's have been breeding figs longer than any other species of plant or animal, and the diversity of sizes, shapes, flavors and colors of figs that come out of 10 thousand years of breeding in dozens of countries is breath taking. This video gives just a tiny sense of what's out there. Oh to be able to go through that collection at peak fig season and taste each variety!.The danger of looking at a video like this. I keep saying, "Oh, I want to grow that one!" God bless.Marcus
Sorry to be so off topic but does someone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost the account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
I love Figs! I live in Germany where the weather is not good for fig trees, but i am originaly from Turkey where we have a very good one in front of over hous, but my holiday time and the time where the fig are ripe don`t overlap oll the time, but last year in summer i was on the fig tree heaven trip! :)
Hi Bass, We bought some persimmons and a persimmons tree from you last Friday evening. First I'd like to say that the persimmons are awesome!! Second question is what is the sweetest and most flavorful fig that you grow? I want to start a small food forest in the spring. Thanks for doing what you do : )
Great, I'm glad you enjoyed them. As for figs, I have favorites every season, some of my favorites are Celeste, Sal's, Dark Portuguese, Ronde de Bordeaux, Brooklyn White, to name a few. I should have many others in spring.
Bassam, This was the most comprehensive and educational video in figs category that I've seen, please let me know if I could buy some Sal's, Celeste, Dark Portuguese and Ronde de Bordeaux from you. thank you
hi bass, do u sell some of your fig cuttings? jut started a hobby of fig planting. i only have 5 fig plants in a pot about 2 ft tall and i think its black madeira (im not sure). I wanted to plant some more figs with different variety. i live in san joaquin county . thank you
Hi! I want to start my own figs field (they are good to avoid athritis), I live in Tennessee (Cumberland) Could you tell what variety can I grow here? Thanks!
hi,is it possible for you to send me some of those qualities, if you can, please tell me i will tell you the species i would like to receive. Thank you
Hi Bass, I live in a senior apt. Complex. Only one fruiting tree in the whole place. A beautiful Fig with black fruit. It was over 20 feet tall and the pine tree trimmers came in and also wacked the fig down to 3 ft. I was heartbroken. I pulled a 1/2" x 6' long Branch out of their truck. Went on line and cut it into 5 to 8" pieces, dabbed in hormone powder and put in a jar with 2" of water with a baggie top. In Placerville at 1800-2000 feet, we get freezing in winter. I don't have a warm place except my kitchen table at 68. Do they have a chance?
you can save the cutting in a ziplock with no water and keep it sealed in the fridge until spring, then you can plant it in a pot with half perlite and half potting soil. placing it in water will make it rot quickly, it needs at least 75º and enough aeration and the right moisture to root.
hello Bass i would like to buy some of your figs tree's . please send me a message. I just started to be a fig tree colecter. i like to eat figs. I would be happy if i can get some small started fig trees.that would be great.
Beautifully done. Thanks for letting everyone see what many figs look like. If only we could taste them. Luv the music.
