What's interesting is that I think a lot of placements on this list would be a lot different if you started the timer when you were able to control Link instead of when you started the game. Cutscenes absolutely demolishing the rate at which you can touch water in the likes of Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time lol.
I know Breath of the Wild has that puddle of water there right before getting out of the chamber, but I mean... you start off submerged in water before even waking up.
i think you have to make hte decision to touch water. otherwise ocarina of time would be the same, over in the opening cutscene. ...i think. cant remember if its raining in that cutscene on the bridge with ganondorf
If it's only during a cutscene, then no, it wouldn't. In some of his earlier videos, the opening cut scenes showed characters touching grass and he said it didn't count. Needs to be during gameplay.
@Spimbles I played botw long ago. If you're able to walk around in it, I don't remember. What water you can and can't walk around in aren't the things that stick in my mind.
Link's face getting slowly mangled by the pixelated zoomout whe dramatic music plays will always make me laugh. In PH, he looks like the Runescape Slayer gnome child!
Whoa, dude. I'm legit stunned that you put Tri-Force Heroes in this. I haven't seen it appear in literally any other Zelda compilation before, even though it was one of my favorites (it let me play with my husband :3). MAN was that game hard to find other players with after a good month or so, though.
@@j0rts not to be "that" guy, but how come you don't include the hyrule warrior games? is it because they lack the "legend of Zelda" in the title? Or is it because they aren't main line titles? i wouldnt expect you to include Link's crossbow training.

X'D The gameplay was super fun, though. Different weapons and effects, up to 3-person puzzles, and so lighthearted and easy that replaying levels didn't feel like a chore.
love that the ds games actually murder you in the tutoral levels. Especially Phantom Hourglass. Like, this is supposed to be WW Link, who can swim, why is he drowning!!?
I think that rain may fulfill the letter of the requirement but perhaps not its spirit. "Touching water" usually means "touching a body of water " (such as a puddle, river or lake). If you wanted to be super-technical, there's moisture in the air so that's automatically "touching water", but it's not in the spirit of the challenge.
Not only do I love these videos, but this one reminded me that Tri-Force Heroes *actually exists* as I literally forgot that. I think it was the only Zelda game I never played...besides like the CDI nightmares. 😬
Yay! A new one. And Zelda no less. I’m enjoying watching these videos about touching/not touching between Mario, Sonic, and Zelda. Wish more of these would come out especially Zelda.
I bought a WiiU after the Switch came out. My rationale was there was nothing out for the Switch except for Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey because this was the initial slow period before Nintendo ported everything from WiiU to Switch. It just didn't make good financial sense at the time. So when I got my WiiU, I got BotW, Bayonetta, Mario Kart, Mario 3D World, the two Zelda remasters, along with some Wii games like Mario Galaxy and New SMB (since I skipped the Wii generation), and a few other games. It was a good haul. Most of the games were used and really cheap by then. I had a ton of fun with it and got my money's worth. I didn't upgrade to the Switch until late 2019 when Octopath Traveler came out (and I didn't have to deal with scalpers). While I no longer have my WiiU, I still believe that it was a good financial decision to get the WiiU for the first year of the Switch lifespan.
J0rts' rule in his touching series is he has to be in control of the characters in order for the criteria to count. So Link's Awakening won't count because the intro is a cutscene. I dunno about BOTW haven't played it but if it is a cutscene, it won't count. If you control link, he was just wrong.
I played on the wiiU version for years, even fully completing it before I was able to get a switch. It was really cool ngl, I had fun playing that version
In botw you litterally touch water as soon as you start because the shrine of resurection has water where link wakes up. Bro has been taking a bath for the past 100 years.
I had the Wii U version of BotW until a couple days ago... when I asked it to update to the latest OS. It then bricked itself. Super bummed about that. My ex and I spent a ton of time together in some of those games, and it feels almost like I just lost the family photo album or something. I guess at least I touched water? It was all over my face.
I was just about to write a comment pondering whether the next step after grass (earth) and water would be touching fire... only to then see that this video exists in the sidebar and I just missed it lol

correct!
