Church on the road has been one of the most challenging parts. If you are going to a new church every week, it's new people, you're in the middle of who knows what study etc. We "attend" a church online that we also attend in person when we are home visiting with Kalyn's parents. When we are with my family in Florida we attend their church as we've built some friendships there as well. We were part of an online small group for a couple of years as well. That is challenging if you struggle with video calls in the first place. There's nothing quite like in person, face-to-face fellowship. -J
The concrete corn field reminded me of one of my favorite roadside attractions in South Dakota, the world’s only corm palace in Mitchell. You were probably too late in the year, as they start to remove the corn cobs after Labor Day. What is it? It’s the community gymnasium used by Wesleyan college in town. It has marquees on the two sides facing streets that they put murals on every year, murals made of corn. The murals have all colors of corn and are done in a different theme ever. There is adis-lay inside of past murals and of people involved in the project. And, of course, there’s souvenirs to buy, but it’s all a community project and profits go to the community.
Ashland, Ohio! I worked in that town in 1978, got caught in a history-making blizzard, and didn't make it back to my hometown for two days! I'm enjoying your videos and congratulate you on your UA-cam success! Keep up the great work! ❤
The Kaskaskia Dragon is very cool at sunset or just before sunrise We camped overnight next to the dragon in Oct on our way to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta
Oh you guys made me chuckle when you were visiting Old Ben and yes, I did laugh a bit. Then I heard Kalyn say steer again. What a fabulous WIFI name for the campground. Love watching y’all do your daily stuff. Love that tire inflator so much. And yes, I know it was an ad. It was a great one. I love gadgets like that since I loved working on cars when I was a kid. Oh my, I lived in a Santa Fe town growing up and I used to hear them all the time. It was the most reassuring sound when I’d wake up from a nightmare. Had to look up the “corn” field since I live in Ohio. You mentioned tombstones Joseph and I found this: “Ghostly sentinels of an agricultural past. Cochran planted his white corn in regimented rows, suggesting, he said, the rows of identical white tombstones in a military cemetery. In this way, said Cochran, the ears of corn represented people, and the overall artwork memorialized the loss of agriculture in the face of suburban sprawl.” That is kind cool. The eternal flame was so cool. It might be my favorite oddity though Big Ben was cool. The dragon was cool too. Now I looked up all the oddities near us and I think I might take my husband to see some. He’s never been to Jungle Jim’s in Fairfield (or the new one in Eastgate) so I think that will be a nice day trip for us. Then there are some other places to check out I’ve never been to or heard of and I have lived in Ohio for 38 years. Amazing how you can get that rig parked Joseph. Okay third time is charm. I’d still be trying. lol I have never backed a truck up while towing anything. And good job with the water. You may need to rethink referencing “Joseph projects” as a negative. Heya guys! I’m back - we did our own trip last week last week - we went back to the United Kingdom and had the most superb weather! I missed you guys though so happy to get back into routine again 😊
Didn’t look at a single video the entire trip! The scenery around SouthWest Wales was all we needed. Just as well as were moving back there early next year!
You will love your ViAir. They are the best. I carried around a cheap pancake compressor that took 45 minutes to air up a low tire before I ordered the RV ViAir.
Wow-your parents yard is like a sponge. There are lots of areas of the USA that would like some of that moisture. Glad you did not get stuck. I did once in someone’s yard and they had to pull me out with a tractor. How sad what I did to their yard. They were so kind about it , but I bet glad to see me gone.
I was shocked at how soft it was! They hadn't gotten much rain either! They have a yard guy so I'm planning on sending said yard guy a check in the spring to bring it back up to snuff. -J
Yeah.... anyone offers to let us moochdock at their place from here on out i'm sending them a link to this video with the "Are you sure about that" meme. 😂 -J
Cool series of wacky odd places ! I think the flame is probably coolest. Please don't kill spiders important to the ecosystem! Does rabbit get out of cage and exercise?Safe travels and look forward to next video
We kill very few spiders, but if they are on or in my RV... their minutes are numbered. Cody does get time out of his pen (not a cage - soft floor, not wire bottom), but he's 10 and dealing with some medical issues (More on that here: ua-cam.com/video/H-9wKQOReWI/v-deo.html) that cause him to drool quite a bit so we have to be careful with where he runs free because wherever he sits long term he'd drool a good bit on the carpet. But he has lived most of his life with free range of our living space. -J
Hello. That Viair looks way better than having to hook up to the batteries. I had one once, not sure if it was user error or what, but it took FOREVER! I did more faster with my Ryobi battery powered air compressor whoya. But might look into that one. Thanks for the fun stops. These are awesome!!! Safe travels. Hopefully you two are out of the NE since they are getting pounded with snow!!! (guess I should reread the last newsletter! Oy vie!) Thanks for sharing.
Haha! We're in Maryland...the west side so we aren't getting pounded with snow, but we are blowing through propane and have our electric fireplace on non-stop. 😂 Further south tomorrow!! -J
The Dragon is cool, we are originally from Central Illinois and go to St Louis, Kansas City and Springfield, MO frequently and have never been there!!! Also we are now living in the Kokomo area, we live out in the county, I work on the Northwest side of Kokomo, about 4 miles North of Highland park, I ran the Old Ben 5k run a few times since we been here!!!! Safe travels!
You're doing great Joe, issues happen but have confidence! We're all cheering for you guys even when things go wrong! Oh no lol. I live in the Rochester area and was hoping id see you guys drive through the area and wave (unlikely but it would have been cool lol)!
Haha! I think my confidence go wrecked a decade or so ago. Coming back slowly though. 😂 I just left it in there because I laughed as I watched my "processing" face. 😁 -J
I live by the Dublin concrete corn field and love it. I had heard that the Dublin Arts Council had some extra money in their budget that year and they decided to do that.
Great Video!!! Thanks for going to the Eternal Flame. That was way to cool. Corn field I have to say has to be the wackiest attraction of them all. Enjoy your time with Family and have a great Thanksgiving.
Ben also looks like a Jersey bull, just in case anyone was wondering? 😋I agree, this is a very "whacky" attraction. I have to say, my dad never taxidermied any of our passed on bulls! 😵💫🤯😳
The steer was weird for sure. The concrete corn was right up there with the steer. The eternal flame was the wildest. Glad you made it to your parents house. I hope the stay went well as I'm sure you are in the south. I have had a Viair for years and it still works great. Your commercial on e-trailer is so interesting, I literally watched it all and was entertained. That never happens, but it did with you. Hope you are safe whereever you are. Take care.
Thanks so much!!! That's our goal with our sponsors - we believe it's up to us to make them watchable and fun. If people skip - that's on us for not being interesting enough that time around. 😁 We didn't make it far enough south... LOL. We're currently at an electric hookup in western MD waiting out the winter weather. Didn't want to take a chance with hitting snow in the mountains. -J
@@OpenRoading Sorry to hear you are stuck. I can tell you I am in south Alabama to escape the cold and it is cold here. So the cold is all over currently. I wish you well on getting to warmer climates.
I knew you were going to chuck that cheap air compressor. Those Viairs are not cheap but worth it. Quality tools. Very happy with mine and I’ve had it for a year or so. 👍🇨🇦
Been following u for awhile and was excited to see you in Dublin. If you travelled 33 fm Ft. Wayne to Dublin you passed near our house. Remember passing the Honda plants, we r right there. Sounds silly but was cool and yes the concrete corn is just a great example of too much money for no good cause! Safe travels.
Not silly at all - it's always interesting and cool to know people who have passed by or to see the familiar! As I was editing this video I told Kalyn that it's weird seeing Corning and Binghamton in our videos since that's familiar territory for us. 😂 And yeah - 33 was our route! -J
The concrete cornfield is definitely the weirdest thing I think I have ever seen. Don’t know how you found that but my favorite was the eternal flame that was way cool. Oh my goodness did you ever tear up the grass getting into Kaylen‘s parents yard oops. thanks for another really fun video that makes you laugh and shake your head at the same time.😂❤
We left a couple of tire tracks in their yard the last couple of times... this time was a whole other level of utter destruction. I'm thinking I'm just going to fly Kalyn up there next time and I'll just stay with the RV with Trinity so I don't do that again. 😂 -J
Poor spider😢... You're already pulled them out of the way you should have just let him go. You could have put your fifth wheel at a storage place for a couple days and then just stayed at your parents.. it'll be fun fixing the lawn in the spring LOL Nice to see that you still in contact with some people from the church when you grew up. Free salvation can be found at: 1st Corinthians 15: 1-4, Romans 10:9,10, John3: 15-17.. it's a free gift not by works Ephesians 2:8,9 God bless you and yours and all my brothers and sisters across the world! 😇
I have a hate hate relationship with spiders... 😂 I know they take care of bugs, but not around me. We like living in our house as much as possible - but we'll have to see if we do that again next time. Last time we didn't tear up the yard like that... 👀 -J
I live by the corn field and nobody knows what its about. We think its weird too, but the rumor is that it's a fertility garden. If you drive by it at night you'll get the idea. It's a good thing you got Trinity neutered.
We live about 20 minutes from Chestnut Ridge and the eternal flame. I was born in Lancaster, NY and didn't even know it was there until a few years ago. We need to go this winter. Well, soon, as winter is nearly upon us. 😂🎉❄️ We dodged it this weekend but probably not next weekend. 🤞 - western NY Troy & Aimee
Hey! I'm related to her somewhere down the old family tree... so I guess what they say about apples and trees and how far they fall from each other is true. 😂 -J
oof , that lawn destruction reminded me of many years ago, with my very first 5th wheel, how I messed up my dad's back lawn the same way. He was NOT happy with me. Also, found it interesting that I finally know where Binghamton U is. My son used to swim against this University when he was a member of the UMBC (Baltimore Md.) swim team.
My inlaws are very patient with me... We intend to make the lawn whole again this spring! It was too late in the year to plant grass seed when I messed it up. -J
Glad you made it back with family. Would go to Binghampton a lot of time for work and would fly into Syracuse because in the winter that airport would never shutdown while all others would. Just treacherous on the highway around Corning due to the State and Native reservation having a fight of ownership so the state would not plow that section of the highway. Was pretty scary having the highway literally disappear. Hope you stay there through Thanksgiving then head south for the winter.
Interesting! Grew up in that area and never heard of the disputes there. That said - we moved when I was 15 so it's quite possible I was just youthfully unaware. 😂 Where I grew up specifically there were more cows than people so snow covered roads were simply part of winter life. -J
Whew! I finally got to watch the video. Very long travel day yesterday from Bradenton, FL to Maryville, TN to set up our little getaway apartment. I could have sworn I saw you guys on I75 heading south in GA.

It is an oddity to not have trains and freeway noise at campgrounds when traveling. The ones we stay at that don't go in our book of places to stay. Looks like your having fun while handling the daily duties.
Oh man - we specifically try to find campgrounds that are out of the way. This one was outside of town so no traffic noise but man...that train had about 30 crossings to go through in town. 😂 -J
Grew up in upstate NY but somehow ended up being a Vikings fan. Same superbowl record though! 😂 I will forever remember Jan 1993 vs the Oilers though. -J
When filling tires try to be as far away as possible, split rims are more of a danger, but any wheel setup can go. Just a friendly tip. I am almost positive my motorhome says six feet away
We plan to do a meetup at some point while we are in Florida! Keep an eye on Instagram as we are more "Real time" on there so better chance of knowing if we are somewhere nearby - and if we are - shoot us a message! Never know if our schedules might line up. 🙂 -J

Didn’t look at a single video the entire trip!
The scenery around SouthWest Wales was all we needed. Just as well as were moving back there early next year!
I totally want to see all these attractions now! Thank you for another entertaining video!
Thanks for riding along! -J
You will love your ViAir. They are the best. I carried around a cheap pancake compressor that took 45 minutes to air up a low tire before I ordered the RV ViAir.
We've been loving it so far! -J
I think your videos keep getting better and better!
Aw! Thank you! We try to get better each week! -J
O No the yard but they love you they are happy you all are there 😊
Yeah.... anyone offers to let us moochdock at their place from here on out i'm sending them a link to this video with the "Are you sure about that" meme. 😂 -J
Thank you for taking me along on your wacky adventure
Thanks for riding shotgun! -J
I love all your videos. They always bring a smile to my face. I have your Alaska postcards tacked up on my bulletin board. ❤️🐾
🤗 That means so much! -J
Hi Open Roading. I really am loving this series of videos & it’s inspiring me to plan some adventures of my own. Thanks 🥰
This is awesome! If you ever come by a wacky or weird attraction let us know!
Nice! Next time you find yourself going through that area the dragon is worth the stop! And you can drive by a mini st louis arch. 😁 -J
😂 “Hi, I’m Joseph and I’m worthwhile and confident in my handyman skills!” (Have I shown you my Bear School pin?!?) Love it!!!
😁
You're doing great Joe, issues happen but have confidence! We're all cheering for you guys even when things go wrong!
Oh no lol. I live in the Rochester area and was hoping id see you guys drive through the area and wave (unlikely but it would have been cool lol)!
Haha! I think my confidence go wrecked a decade or so ago. Coming back slowly though. 😂 I just left it in there because I laughed as I watched my "processing" face. 😁 -J
@@OpenRoadingLol, makes sense. I DIDNT REALIZE YOU ARE SO OLD JOE!?! (I'm super young, only hit 40 two months ago 😜!)
Almost 42! It's creeping up on me! -J
Love the Eternal flame 🔥 🙌 Gods peace. Safe travels
Such a unique place! -J
I live by the Dublin concrete corn field and love it. I had heard that the Dublin Arts Council had some extra money in their budget that year and they decided to do that.
I… want to know what the other options were…. 😂 -J
Great idea putting water on counter if you question your LevelMatePRO. I guess you’ve been around the block a few times.
It will get you close enough! 😂 And I have a level in the basement... but I didn't want to dig it out. -J
Love seeing the 7 pin connector for Viair. Hated having to use the battery clips!
Yeah! Battery clips are good in concept... but annoying as all get out in actual use. -J
Great content. Thanks for sharing ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! -J
Great Video!!! Thanks for going to the Eternal Flame. That was way to cool. Corn field I have to say has to be the wackiest attraction of them all. Enjoy your time with Family and have a great Thanksgiving.
Thanks so much! Happy Thanksgiving to you as well! -J
Ben also looks like a Jersey bull, just in case anyone was wondering? 😋I agree, this is a very "whacky" attraction. I have to say, my dad never taxidermied any of our passed on bulls! 😵💫🤯😳
Right!? Like... seems like an odd choice for park attractions. 😂 -J
We didn't make it far enough south... LOL. We're currently at an electric hookup in western MD waiting out the winter weather. Didn't want to take a chance with hitting snow in the mountains. -J
Will you stay in western MD until spring or just until forecast predicts weather warm enough to safely travel
South?
@@OpenRoading Sorry to hear you are stuck. I can tell you I am in south Alabama to escape the cold and it is cold here. So the cold is all over currently. I wish you well on getting to warmer climates.
Loved this video
Awesome! Thank you! -J
I knew you were going to chuck that cheap air compressor. Those Viairs are not cheap but worth it. Quality tools. Very happy with mine and I’ve had it for a year or so. 👍🇨🇦
haha.. I telegraphed it that badly huh, lol. 😂
Yeah, that cheap compressor was exactly that, cheap. Probably good for bikes and such but that's it. -J
And yeah - 33 was our route! -J
Great video!
Thanks so much! -J
We live about an hour from the corn…. Never have we stopped to see it!
Well, I don't think it's been harvested yet! There's still time! 😁 -J
Ohio-Largest producer of cement corn…..😂🤣😂good one, Joseph! Thanks for taking us along!
I think I have to be right on that!
8th WONDER of the WORLD 🎉🎉🎉
The corn? 🌽 😁 -J
Oops. It's bad luck to kill spiders. Oh well. At least now, when something happens, you'll know why.
Watch to the end of the video... I think it caught up with me....or at least with my inlaws. 😂 -J
We stayed at the Bluffton KOA in July, actually the exact same space.
LOL! It's a small world! -J
Poor spider😢... You're already pulled them out of the way you should have just let him go.
You could have put your fifth wheel at a storage place for a couple days and then just stayed at your parents.. it'll be fun fixing the lawn in the spring LOL
Nice to see that you still in contact with some people from the church when you grew up.
Free salvation can be found at: 1st Corinthians 15: 1-4, Romans 10:9,10, John3: 15-17.. it's a free gift not by works Ephesians 2:8,9
God bless you and yours and all my brothers and sisters across the world! 😇
I have a hate hate relationship with spiders... 😂 I know they take care of bugs, but not around me.
We like living in our house as much as possible - but we'll have to see if we do that again next time. Last time we didn't tear up the yard like that... 👀 -J
Very cool stops and attractions. We were just in Newark Ohio for my Nephews wedding. Drove by the old Longaberger Basket Building
Nice! Haven't seen that. -J
The concrete cornfield is definetly weird. Seems like a real one would have been a better use of space 😂
Not an ideal setup to play running games in the city green space that's for sure. 😂 -J
I live by the corn field and nobody knows what its about. We think its weird too, but the rumor is that it's a fertility garden. If you drive by it at night you'll get the idea. It's a good thing you got Trinity neutered.
Oh boy...... 😂 -J
Love the eternal flame but adore the dragon!
- western NY Troy & Aimee
Yeah, we had to get out of NY before this snow hit. No way I was staying on that hill when the snow was gonna start flying! -J
This is like Lucy and Dezi in the Long Long Trailer. 😂
Hey! I'm related to her somewhere down the old family tree... so I guess what they say about apples and trees and how far they fall from each other is true. 😂 -J
#9 is my favorite fire and water 💧
It's such a subtle beauty! -J
oof , that lawn destruction reminded me of many years ago, with my very first 5th wheel, how I messed up my dad's back lawn the same way.
Still enjoying the videos 👍
Happy Thanksgiving.
Yay! Thanks for stopping by every Friday!
@@OpenRoading You were probably around 10 then. I think it was just after Corning.
@@rickblanchette Yep... at 10 years old I don't think my "awareness of current events" had started to trigger all that much. 😁 -J
Joe Project 😂 love it!! But you can honestly insert any man’s name!!!😂
lol - a lot of guys are more handy than I though. -J
Whew! I finally got to watch the video. Very long travel day yesterday from Bradenton, FL to Maryville, TN to set up our little getaway apartment. I could have sworn I saw you guys on I75 heading south in GA.
We'll on thing I can promise you - on this trip you will not see us on the interstate. At least until we get to Florida. 😁 We're doing a fun "no interstate" trip. -J
@@OpenRoadingI figured it wasn’t you when I saw you were in TN. Enjoy your journey. I look forward to seeing your adventures!
@@lauradomenico3264 Had someone honk at us in Maryville the other day. I of course assume it's because they recognize us and NOT because I was blocking 2 lanes of traffic while trying to merge.......... -J
@@OpenRoading haha.
@ I saw the weather for the next week. I left Maryville and came home to Florida yesterday. Looks like it’s going to be a cold week! I would have loved to meet you two and Trinity too! Safe travels south.
Joseph, when you were at the dragon, how did you refrain from doing the Beavis "Fire, fire, fire" voice?
Simply because the only Beavis thing I know is the laugh. That's literally all of my knowledge of that show. 😂 -J
It's so interesting to see locals in the colder areas wearing short sleeves, when the rest of us from warmer climates are bundled up 😏
It's so true. 😂 Although in Florida when my family that lives in North Dakota came to visit over Christmas it was reverse. Us local floridians were in parkas and the the ND fam was swimming in the gulf of Mexico. 😂 -J
I Love the KOA. look what you did to the grass.. geessss
Yeah.... It's a good thing my in-laws like me. Or at least they did. I may have used up all my good will on this stopover. 👀 -J
Fun vlog guys! Thank you😊
Hi from Endwell NY. Didn't know you were from here.Watch you guys all the time.
Oh nice! I cut my teeth in video working as a camera guy for WBNG from 2007-2009, then News 10 Now / YNN from 2009-2013! -J
You guys still in Binghamton?
@@floyddegnan6160 Nope! All the way in Florida! -J
Awesome video! What type drone do you fly?
This one! amzn.to/4eOakog
Was there something else on display next to Old Ben? Looked like there was a 2nd building? 😅 really enjoy your videos!!!
Indeed there was! It was a large tree stump. 😁 -J
@OpenRoading 🤣
Happy Thanksgiving you guys
Thank you! -J
I'm currently on the road camping, watching you guys camping, haha!😊
The best way to do it! -J
Getting the dog to poop when you need it!! 😮 Only a fellow RV’ing pet parent would understand!! 👍😉
😂 Gotta keep her on her schedule! lol -J
😂 Gotta keep her on her schedule! lol -J
Eternal flame was best. only a mom and dad would overlook that lawn damage. lol
haha. It's true. We do plan on fixing them up in the spring. -J
@@OpenRoading of course you will, I'm sure your folks are just happy to have you home after being gone so long. Enjoy the time
Go Bills!
Grew up in upstate NY but somehow ended up being a Vikings fan. Same superbowl record though! 😂
I will forever remember Jan 1993 vs the Oilers though. -J
welcome home to you!! what was your favorite wacky feature? im guessing dragon for J and fire for K?
I actually think the cookies. Just because it's so unexpected.
And you guessed it for Kalyn! -J
When filling tires try to be as far away as possible, split rims are more of a danger, but any wheel setup can go. Just a friendly tip. I am almost positive my motorhome says six feet away
I have never heard of this. My tires are only 80lbs so this may be part of that…not nearly the pressure as a lot of the newer/bigger rigs.
I hope you guys are in my neck of the woods in Florida when you get here! Would love to love on Cody and meet you guys.
We plan to do a meetup at some point while we are in Florida! Keep an eye on Instagram as we are more "Real time" on there so better chance of knowing if we are somewhere nearby - and if we are - shoot us a message! Never know if our schedules might line up. 🙂 -J
Ah, I was wondering where in New York y’all were from. I was born in Cortland, NY and my family moved us to Louisiana in 1977 when I was 10. I still have family that lives in Cortland, Homer and Ithaca.
Kalyn grew up in Homer/Cortland. We met when my family moved there in the late 90s 😀
This is the Corniest video I've ever seen! We went to the Wild RV Life meet up last weekend. Hope to do the same with you guys soon.
Very cool! Miss those two! Can't wait to see them again in January. I don't know if we are going to have an official meetup at the RV show in Tampa (we will be there) BUT we are planning on having a meetup in Florida sometime over the winter! -J
You don’t like “Joe” jobs because they take longer then they should! We don’t like 10 minute jobs for the same reason! They usually take hours or days!
Thanks for all this video! Looking forward to more!!!
Thanks for watching! See you next Friday! -J
