Hi Terry! Meeting ya'll was one of the highlights of our trip to Big Bend. (no lie) Yes we loved the canyon! It did make me want to go back sometime and do some sort of a paddle tour up or down the river just to get a feel for how far "back" it goes. -J
Wow. Just incredible. Thank you for being so generous in supporting our channel. Honestly we never expected any sort of financial channel support from viewers, then we were like "Ok...when we are done with our $15K goal that's when the viewer channel support will end" and everyone just keeps blowing us away with their generosity. It's such a shot in the arm as we are super excited to be making money from the ads but of course as we grow we are still very much in that stage of budgets being super tight and being able to invest in the channel being a little difficult...so thank you so so much. 🤗 -J

Just a little tip in case you don't know this hack for stripped out wood screw holes. Always keep some wood matches and/or especially some wood tooth picks to add more wood to the stripped out holes. The wood matches add more mass and stronger wood while the tooth picks act like shims to add more tension and strength to the repair. Just stick them into the hole as far as they will go and break them off at the woods surface. If the wood is broken and coming apart around the wood hole, covering the matches and tooth picks with wood glue before sticking them in and waiting for the glue to dry can repair that too, but it is better to drill a small pilot hole for this repair before adding the screw to keep it from splitting the wood more. I hope this helps with some future repairs. You wouldn't believe how many times I have done this for door hinge screws stripping in the door jamb, but also cabinet doors after someone decided to put their weight on the door and OOPS!
Your 3-d part may need to be printed in a different orientation so that the layers are perpendicular to the force that is exerted on it. Also you may consider a different plastic type that is less brittle / more playable. You would have to investigate plastic types that your printer supports. Possibly the best solution may be to see if you can get a direct replacement from the Rv manufacturer because those would be molded plastic not layered extrusions. Still that was excellent work that you recreated that.
My first part lasted a year (PLA) and I had a friend print these two parts and they were ABS and I think that was the problem. The way it was printed shouldn't have left a weak spot there other than the fact that it's a thin point. Live and learn! -J

If you come near Las Cruces, NM, there are some awesome boon docking spots at the base of the Organ Mountains. They’re near Dripping Springs State Park and about 50 minutes away from White Sands National Park. Also, we have mountains surrounding the whole city, so the views are gorgeous no matter where you look.
You pronounced Chisos perfectly! ;-) It is a gorgeous place. We spent a month at Big Bend Nat'l. Park a few years ago. We also did the South Rim and it was pretty grueling as you have a 2,000 incline and decline coming back. So we will differ on that, but it was great to do. Glad you showed reality as most UA-camrs don't and it tricks a lot of people to jump into the lifestyle and being ill-prepared for the reality. Thanks for making this episode.
Oh! We should have mentioned - if you go counter clockwise the incline is much more spread out. We noticed that on the way back down when it just kept going down down down with no break! -J
@@OpenRoading Yes. That down, down, down is harder than the up. We are considerably older than you as well. But if one can do that hike, I recommend it. The views are special. Thanks for showing some of it. Here is an almost 30 minute video I made of that hike just to show we did do it in 2018. ua-cam.com/video/jfY_FGl9giY/v-deo.html
@@OpenRoading You are right. It is an epic hike and my hat is off to anyone who does it. The day we did it, many people started it at the same time. Many did not make it very far before turning around so I was very glad to do it, but it certainly wore us out. We do love Big Bend and been there quite a few times. Glad you appreciate the park too. Safe travels and keep showing the reality of RV'ing.
I don’t ever really comment on full-time travel videos, but I have to say, I’m enjoying your content and the flow of your videos. So well done! Your channel will grow fairly quickly, I believe. And looking forward to seeing Alaska through your eyes. Plan on going there soon and check out if I want to move there.
8 Years ago I went to Ten Valley Retro Rentals and planned to stay 3 days. I stayed for 10. It's a beautiful part of the country. I'm still friends with the owner, Ronda Harberer, and we chat on FB from time to time. It's amazing.
There are soooo many amazing spots to visit buuuuut.....I hope you like the heat. I don't know if I could handle any of those states in the full on summer. (I may also be a wimp). -J
Maybe add headlights to your motorcycle rack. There are bolt ones meant for semi trucks. I added tail lights to mine. If you have both a 7pin and a 4pin connector. Plug them into the 4pin so you can just unplug them when you want to take off the rack. Most of them even have integrated turn signals.
I'm considering it. Unfortunately at the moment my list of things I should buy is pretty long and expensive so I'm having to prioritize accordingly (as almost every human on the planet has to do - so not complaining at all! Just why you won't see them popping up on the front carrier in the very near future. 😁) -J
We might do that sometime! I do think we cover it briefly here in an old "season 2" video: ua-cam.com/video/1Z3DxNcGf5M/v-deo.htmlsi=CRtO9CvL5AfOuSfV -J
In regards to getting dog hair off of furniture or your truck seats and carpeting use a pumice stone. Walmart has them for like a dollar or something. Best thing for dog hair. I’ve got two boxers that travel with me in my jeep and it’s the only thing that gets their hair out of, the back carpet and off the seats. Love your channel and can’t wait to watch your Alaska adventures. 😊
Where did you find that massive drill?!? Lol I laughed when you were showing the plastic piece you saved for years & were so happy to have a spare. Then you pull out a drill that could blast through boulders 🧨 to screw it in. Best scene of the video Lol I like the drone shots too! My drone was super cool until it got froze with software updates (Dji Mavic Air) Your rabbit is pretty cool too, he didnt get enough air time eating that apple. You guys should time lapse him devouring veggies & incorporate that in 🥕
😂😂😂 You don't know how funny that is because I talked about the drill a lot in the video but we cut it because it got boring. But I was talking about how I don't have a ton of tools but you MUST have some sort of a drill/screw gun. 😂 I just happen to have a giant one. The plastic piece has a backstory as well. My initial 3d print lasted like a year. And when it broke I had a friend print me 2 more - but they have broken much quicker and I believe it's because I printed with PLA and he printed with ABS which I think is less flexible. But the snap....couldn't have been more perfect. 😂 As to the drone...software updates with any technology always scare me. 😱 -J
I just found y’all and are now watching every one of your videos! Y’all are the best! We used to live in Boerne, TX near San Antonio and would go to Big Bend every October on our motorcycles! Beautiful area!
Arriving in the dark is no joke. We have the same rule and so far I think we have only had to do it one time. PS I love that you had the closet door incident on camera, the look on Joe's face is priceless. We have the same seat cover for the cats in our truck, It has worked pretty well, but I thought it was "waterproof" and on the couple of occasions that the cats got sick or we spilled something, it went right through. Closing in on 20k so AMAZING- K and M
Oh man! Good to know about the "Water" proof (Loved you put that in quotes. 😂 The sliding door was such a typical "Joe trying to fix something moment" that I was so glad we caught it as well. 😂 Looking forward to your next gate guarding video! -J
Love the Big Bend area of Texas, absolutely beautiful and one of the few places you can really get away from it all in the South imho I wonder if the unsafe / risky thing is going to one of the primitive camp sites in the interior of Big Bend Ranch State Park?! Looking forward to your next episode!
Good guess! But unfortunately we never made it to the state park 😥. We wanted too but our campground was very far away from it and we just couldn't justify the time. I COMPLETELY agree on the getting away from it all. There is just something about not having the option to look something up on your phone. -J
I feel your dog hair pain. I have a black lab and a big brindle mastiff. I couldn’t buy enough tape to defuzz my old Expedition. I switched to a damp old kitchen rag. Just dragged it across the carpet and seats. It worked amazingly well in my car, huge improvement and was way cheaper.
As an east coast old gal I really appreciate seeing these landscapes although I have to admit I prefer a variety of trees with a large canopy. I still appreciate all of God’s creation! Stay safe - we are obviously living in troubled times.
Completely understand! We realize how much we miss green when we get back east 😁. It is very very red...and dry out here. But the one thing we absolutely love about the west is the big, wide open sky. 🤗 -J
Great episode! My husband and I took a trip to Big Bend 5-6 years ago when we lived in Texas so this brought back some wonderful memories. We stayed in Alpine and drove in to Big Bend, we didn’t realize how far it would be from our hotel! We also visited Marfa, will you be going there? Anyway, keep up the great work and my hubby says you all deserve to have much higher views with all the hard work you put in to your videos. Can’t wait to see what you’ll be up to next week!
First... No new video this coming week! First break we've taken from posting so that we can try to get ahead on some of our editing. Back full swing on the 29th! We didn't hit Marfa except on our way to our next destination so we did the obligatory tourist photo at the Prada shop. 😂 -J
Are you carrying a Motorbike in front of your truck??? Oh wooooow unimaginable here in Switzerland!!!! Now we're even more thrilled for our upcoming trip through the States ❤

Hey when I drove a truck in 48 states I use to get pepperidge Farm bread it use to last longer than one can think and never molded was always good, I still use it today. If I ever get disability I'll shoot for Van Life and I'll be taking that bread along 😂😂.
@@OpenRoading hey I did try it but someone threw it away behind me, I had it 3 years I wanted to see how long it would last lol. It wasn't molded wasn't as soft didn't taste old. Lol my ex tried it ate a sandwich trashed it after I told her about the bread 😂😂😂😂😂

Love your RV Channel and catching up to the current releases. My wife and I travel with our dog - she is a shedder too . If someone has not already described for the truck backseat a cover. We call it a hammock, but it lays on the seat and has sides that attach to the rear seat head rests and the also the front seat headrests - so it kinda looks like a hammock when in the truck. Found it on Amazon, not expensive at all. Take it out as needed to wash and store. Takes minutes to put in. Just search rear seat pet hammock. Anyway keep up the good work.
You guys know better than to do laundry in a tiny town. I know I only need to do every two weeks, and wait for a big city. Surely you can do the same. Trinity is so cool.
What’s wrong with small town laundromats? I mean - if I open the washer and it smells like mildew or fuel I’m out but I’ve encountered that in a range of locations. My thing is - is the laundromat care for and in this case it 100% was. The machines were clean and working well. Least expensive laundry run we’ve done in a while! And no…we can’t make it 2 full weeks. 😂 -J
Glad you got to do some hikes. What did you think of the best hike the Lost Mine Trail and most interesting place the hot springs right next to the river? Pretty cool, right?!
We actually didn't get a chance to do those hikes. We were planning the lost mine but in order to get this video and our bonus video done we only got the chance to go into the park 3 times over the 2 weeks we were there. BUT I'm sure we'll be back to explore some more sometime! -J

I love the video. It was fun to go through your daily full-time RV life. It looks a lot like mine L O L. Including running out of propane! Those backs seat slings for dogs are really awesome helps cut down on the hair on your seat. My truck does not have an extra backseat so even with seat covers I have that same problem of hair on the seat. Since I am a solo traveler, I never drive after dark and always try to arrive at my location by about three in the afternoon. That kind of gives me time to scope things out and make sure it looks like a safe place to stay. It looks like Trinity has certainly found her forever home and settled right in. ❤
She certainly has and as of yesterday...she got herself free reign of the couch. She just looked too cute so her manipulation continues in full swing. 😂 It is super smart to get where you're going early. If it's a sketchy place and it's after dark you lose your options quickly. -J
Just a reminder when going to Alaska, be sure to have all the documents from the vet for the pets. To get into/ thru Canada and back into the US. Vaccination proof is important. And plants are typically not permitted. Study up.....
Will do! I'm pretty sure we'll make it ok with all our plants! (we have none 😂...we are like hospice care for plants. If we're taking care of them they are about to pass.) We've been through canada with Rabbits before and they don't care about them, but we will make sure to have all the proper documentation for Trinity. Kalyn never goes into anything like that unprepared. I on the other hand.....am glad I married Kalyn. -J

I saw your first comment come in last night and I told Kalyn - "I think Lauren's about to catch up on our videos!! 😁"
I'm so happy that I was right, and I so appreciate that you take the time to leave a thoughtful, encouraging comment on each one! Thank you so much! -J
Love your style of recording and editing! Also Big Bend is absolutely breath taking! The hot springs (it'll be on the map) is so much fun! The whole place is gorgeous!! ~Lynette
We thought of trying out the hot springs but only had 3 chances to get into the park. So we did the Canyon and the South Rim (in this video) and in the next video you'll see the one other thing we tried. -J
One day go to Walker, AZ near Prescott and see the row of mailboxes there. Beautiful, too.
Oh man! I did a motorcycle ride from Prescott to Flagstaff a few years ago but I don’t think I hit walker - or if I did I missed the boxes! -J
So many positive comments on here, but we want to tell you ourselves that we absolutely love your content and tune in every week to see what’s new! Keep on keepin on and we’ll keep on watching and enjoying it with you! 😁
Thanks so much! A heads up - no new video this coming Friday but back to the weekly schedule after that. -J
Omg best videos ever!! I feel like I am binging Netflix series!! Or watching my hubby and I camping! Awesome edits, I never get bored watching! And hubby addicted also!! Hope you guys make it big on you tube!! I’ve been telling all friends and clients to watch! just can’t say enough! We have a 32ft 2002 jayco travel trailer also bought used in 2008 and love our jayco eagle!! Before that. 26 ft with no slides, upgraded due to 6 kids lol. Good luck and keep it coming!!
So much incredible kindness in this comment I don’t know where to start. 🤗 thank you so much for sharing our channel. That sort of support means so much to us! And comparing us to a Netflix series??? 🥹🥹🥹 -J
In all my years of living in Texas, we never made it to Big Bend...so thanks for taking me / us along! 😊 It really is beautiful!
Well...Texas is the size of a small country so I believe you can be forgiven. 😂 -J
Helps you see why Texas WAS it's own country before we joined the United States!
We always look forward to seeing your new videos every Friday 💕💕
Thank you! I don't know if you know just how much someone saying that seems impossible to us. 🤗 No new video next Friday but back as scheduled the week after! -J
Enjoy your journey and we will see you on the following Friday 💕
I am so glad you enjoyed Santa Elena Canyon. It is my favorite spot when we go to Big Bend NP. There are so many things to see in the area. Thanks for stopping by to visit with Mike and I, hope you see you again sometime and safe travels. God Bless!
Hi Terry!
Meeting ya'll was one of the highlights of our trip to Big Bend. (no lie)
Yes we loved the canyon! It did make me want to go back sometime and do some sort of a paddle tour up or down the river just to get a feel for how far "back" it goes. -J

Best night skies in the country.
Really can't beat a south western sky (although I bet mayyybe you can in the middle of the ocean somewhere). -J

Fun and comical to watch you two.
That’s exactly what we are here for! If you got some good laughs watching the video then I succeeded in my mission! -J
Have a Walmart restock run on us! You guys got this!
I know how you feel been home for the winter and now I gotta get the camper packed up get my external fuel tank put back in my truck get the 5th wheel back in and get the truck already and camper already for road construction season since we didn’t have no snow this year we’re gonna start early so much to do in such a short time. Sorry for being late getting on here special needs daughter’s birthday was today so I had to celebrate that, you guys stay safe out there
There is no late on youtube! Birthdays are priority!!! Thanks for coming by and watching. -J
Awesome! A solution for the sudden, unexpected "Righty loosy!" 😂 -J
I really glad you guys didn't leave that dog
Leaving her at the pad was never an option. But we have been grateful many times that we were not comfortable with the shelter situation. -J
My friend always says “let’s blow this popsicle stand”!,
Your 3-d part may need to be printed in a different orientation so that the layers are perpendicular to the force that is exerted on it.

Hey - long shot but do you know of any good welders in the area? -J
Nevermind! Found one! -J
Oh I believed you! That is a great in depth view of that hike!@@DannyFyffe

Get a furminater... they actually work... little pricey but well made quality and ours have lasted 10 years
I will look into that! Even though I "won" I still wasn't super happy with the results. -J

Hi guys, love your show. It might not be your typical video but I would love to see a video that goes over how you two met
We might do that sometime! I do think we cover it briefly here in an old "season 2" video: ua-cam.com/video/1Z3DxNcGf5M/v-deo.htmlsi=CRtO9CvL5AfOuSfV -J
You guys are so cute. You are fun to watch. Your videos make videos look easy, which tells me you have put many hours of hard work into them.
Such an incredible compliment. Thank you! -J
I'll have to try that! Thanks for the tip! -J
We use a small tension rod laid in the door track during travel days to keep the doors from liding open. Love your videos.
Nice! We don't have any sliding doors on our rig other than the one between the living area and bedroom and that one has a strap to hold it closed. -J

Yall have dropped the outro “maybe we will see you on the open road.”
I’m sure you have a great reason, but i liked that! I’m cheesy though! 😂
Haha - yes. We still have a bit of cheese in our videos but not that specific variety. 😂 -J
Where did you find that massive drill?!? Lol
I laughed when you were showing the plastic piece you saved for years & were so happy to have a spare. Then you pull out a drill that could blast through boulders 🧨 to screw it in. Best scene of the video Lol
I like the drone shots too! My drone was super cool until it got froze with software updates (Dji Mavic Air)
Your rabbit is pretty cool too, he didnt get enough air time eating that apple.
As to the drone...software updates with any technology always scare me. 😱 -J

Love the Big Bend area of Texas, absolutely beautiful and one of the few places you can really get away from it all in the South imho
I wonder if the unsafe / risky thing is going to one of the primitive camp sites in the interior of Big Bend Ranch State Park?!
Thanks for the tip!! -J

Born and raised. 🤠🤠
Sorry.... just saw you have one. My bad.
Haha! No worries! Appreciate the advice! And we love our hammock! -J

It is super smart to get where you're going early. If it's a sketchy place and it's after dark you lose your options quickly. -J
