    Straight the point. You condensed a 1 hour long lecture into a little over 5 minutes...and it's the same material we learned in class. Thank you!!

    Anti-Sm = smith; not smooth muscle. Anti-Smooth muscle ab is found in autoimmune hepatitis

      Cheers for this, I have been researching "lab test for lupus erythematosus" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Denmelia Jansabella Builder - (search on google )?
      It is an awesome exclusive guide for discovering how to treat lupus minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my brother in law got cool success with it.

    *Myalgia(s): Pain or tenderness in one or more muscles ...*
    ...In case anyone other than me was wondering about the definition of that word ;)

    Hi, Im from the Philippines and currently working as Clinical Abstractor. I dont see any videos regarding SLEDAI scoring but I have read some about it. I have seen 6/10 SLEDAI score but I'm wondering if the "10" in 6/10 would be the number of items or the measure of disease activity? And if I could ask for a reference.
    More power and thank you❤️❤️❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

      Here is a link to a SLEDAI calculator that can explain this further. Let me know if this is helpful. www.thecalculator.co/health/SLE-Disease-Activity-Index-(SLEDAI)-Calculator-1119.html

    I never got sick as long as I could get quinine but now you can't get it and I think there's something in quinine that keeps lupus down they need to study that but now I found a sell it at Walmart and I went and got me some and I'm doing better

    Great Video, just a small correction, anti-sm stands for smith (small ribonucleic acids) and not smooth muscle, otherwise all correcto.

    • @emanameen813
      @emanameen813 8 років тому

      no it is anti smooth ms

    • @jamielo6228
      @jamielo6228 6 років тому

      No, eman, it is not. Alaa is right. Anti-Sm means anti-SMITH.
      Anti-SM is for smooth muscle, and it appears in autoimmune hepatitis

    Great video. I would like to point out that lupus is more common in women than in men and in African-Americans then and other ethnic groups. According to Dr. Daniel Wallace, one third of all lupus patients who are in active flare will not have laboratory findings. I am curious if there's any research on the percentage of people with a Lupus diagnosis who also have chronic intractable pain. I also would like to point out that if a person has one autoimmune disease they are likely to be diagnosed with others.

      Jordan Bennett - absolutely true! I have a normal ANA always but I've been diagnosed with Wegeners Vasculitis, ITP, autoimmune induced dysautonomia, Sjorgrens, HLA-b27 induced Ankolysing Spondilitis, gout, lupus,. It all started at 32 years old in 2008 with joint swelling, fatigue, low grade fever, and severe uveitis that caused uncontrollable glaucoma that required a shunt to be placed in my eye. It took me months and not till my deathbed to get the original vasculitis diagnosis. After all of that I was hospitalized 173 days of 2009 flown from Arizona to Johns Hopkins in Maryland where I would be diagnosed with the rest besides the Sjorgrens that came recently.

    So there is no cure only controlling the symptoms ?

    • @farmasten6930
      @farmasten6930 7 років тому +1

      There's no cure, but you can controll and prevent with certain medications. also when it flares up you can use painkillers because the most painful is usually joint inflammations.

      I had blood work done by two doctors both with abnormal results. Then once again and referred to rheumatologist. He then ordered 13 vials with low serum compliment. Very low vitamin D. Protein off.
      Was asked a week and a half later to return for results and four more vials ordered. My blood now seems to be normal. I’ve already been diagnosed with Raynaud phenomenon with ulcer on fingertip. Have the muscle and joint pain. And slight rash like forming over bridge of nose and cheeks.
      Is it normal for blood work to act up like this ?

    +Jordan Bennett Yes it mainly affect Women but it can affect men as well. It's estimated that 1.5 Billion people on earth have some form of Lupus, erythematosus it does affect Darker skin Such as Hawaiians, Hispanics, Pacific islanders, Native American's, and yes African-Americans too. It can run in families Known causes ARE : Loss/Death of a Loved one, Emotional distress, Mental break downs Crying, upset, ect, etc, . . . I found out Lupus runs within MY Native American Oglala Sioux, Lakota Tribe WE are prone to getting it. ( I was diagnosed September 18th , 2016 ) with Lupus erythematosus. I have some photo's that show The Butterfly Rash on my Face. I showed them to a Specialist and it helped with my Diagnosis. People and Dr.s weren't sure if I had Fybromyalgia or possibly even Lupus erythematosus they though I had Fybromyalgia for year's. But it turns out that I have Lupus, erythematosus. An Autoimmune disease My AnA Was up in 6 months I've lost 20 pounds of MY body weight, I'm down to 107Lbs now. Before I was at a normal weight of 125 pounds. I can see the coller bone in my neck showing now.
