Oh, he HAS to get the Oscar! I was watching BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY again the other night. Rami Malek did a phenomenal job, and deserved that Oscar win. Austin was every bit as perfect as Rami. You spend three years in someone’s skin you perfect the portrayal. Austin did.
Sometimes sitting there I realized I had forgotten it was Austin. He was just Elvis. At times I find out who else was being considered for a role and I thank God for intervening. Ronald Reagan as Rick in CASABLANCA; he was a top actor in those years. But….on no!! Harry Styles being talked about as Elvis? OH NO!!!
@@mariella164 in the film he does, this one not so much since it was the start of it. Austin is a great actor who you can tell has improved throughout.

I know Aus has been acting since age 12 and those clips of him are s cute and yes he coukd act. But he was buried under a mountain of teen stuff just like Leo was. Then along cane Romeo and Juliet and Leo broke out. But Aus is older and been around about ten years longer working steadily. Brad Pitt was discovered in Thelma and Louise but h ex had been working before that. Austin knew his day was coming. His agent even told him if he didn't do an audition tape for once upon a time in Hollywood, he'd come over and throw Austin in his own pool. And Austin got that job. Then Broadway where he impressed Denzel. Now elvis. Sky's the limit.
That's what I thought about 1917 and the actor who was the lead the blonde who kept going. But that year they got shut out. I pray the Academy will reward their own Elvis with an Oscar. Elvis was old time Hollywood star.
@@lifeissweet9826 yk i thought that too about 1917 but when i saw it i was a little disappointed bc one of my favorite scenes of the entire movie was shown in the trailer.
I'm 100% sure many people weren't fans of Elvis, but after this movie, they all fell in love with the real Elvis and he has earned even more respect from all of us!
That was my case, of course I knew elvis because he is a world icon and the greatest artist of all time. But after the movie, I became a fan of the real elvis. It's really amazing how he captivates you instantly with his voice, movements and That wonderful personality that captivates anyone. Elvis will always be an admirable person and no one will be like him. Sometimes I think "I should have been born at that time", but I was born in 2006 and I can only continue to remember and admire elvis, the best.
Austin definitely deserves an Oscar, his performance was spectacular and definitely nobody would have done as well as him, he prepared a lot and the result was sensational. Fan of him
Austin reminds me that the taller he gets, the lower he bends! He is Humility personified. Thus, "he who is last is FIRST." Go get your Oscar, Austin Butler! 🙏🏻
He said in another interview he felt nauseous having to do this impromptu show for the rca folks and I can see it in his face. When he smooths back his brown hair. He looks so nervous. Poor baby! But boy did it all pay off!
It's kinda hard to believe Austin had to sing those early songs, and do all the crazy moves elvis did too. For elvis those moves were natural but for Austin it had to be "performed" and perfectly. I'm 72 and never saw Elvis is person before the Las Vegas years. (I did see him in 1971 at the International on my honeymoon). I was ten when he went into the service and really had no clue what all the hoopla was about. But when he got out, it was FULL COURT PRESS on anything Elvis. He was on every magazine cover, in movies and toured. We saw the Comeback Special so it had the old Elvis and the new Elvis. we girls saw all his movies and loved them and bought his records. So the elvis I knew was really the comeback Elvis, and his later movies and then Las Vegas. Back then elvis really was the most famous man on the planet like the Col said. Elvis was universally loved no matter what he did. I can remember laying on the floor listening to an album with head phones, that had been recorded live in Hawaii. It had the comments of fans being interviewed. Everyone knew he was living on borrowed time because of the weight gain and stumbling around lyrics on stage. But he never lost his tremendous vocal range and ability to take an average song, run roughshod over the lyrics and make an iconic hit. His voice was always recognized and each song memorable. No one looked like him, talked like him, laughed at himself like did or worked as hard as he did. The very few times Priscilla let Lisa Marie's face be shown in paparazzi photos, she obviously looked like Elvis. Austin Butler did somethin I thought would never happen. He made me think I was watching the real Elvis. The work he put into this is phenomenal. Yes, please give him and the movie Oscars. GOLDEN GLOBES as WELL.
At 2:20 you can see how profoundly Austin looks at Baz, he looks at him for approval and that´s just so touching. From all the interviews, one can deduce how absolutely dedicated Austin was to this role and how he did his maximum to portray Elvis as best as he can. And oh boy he did that well, his portrayal of Elvis is beyond words, it´s remarkable, breathtaking, sensational. Of course the movie as a whole is a masterpiece and Austin brought Elvis alive. I always compare the experience from the movie with the girl seeing Elvis for the first time: excitement, arousal, joy and shock.

Austin Butler is very talented. He's actor, singer, dancer and we see all that in phenomenal way in Elvis.I must say that I never before adore one actor so much because of only one role. That's what he did to me and I ain't complaining!
I saw Elvis in concert when I was 11. He died the following year on my birthday and I’ve always enjoyed listening to his music. I still get goosebumps listening to his stage appearances from Space Odyssey to his band breaking in and when you hear all the ladies scream as he walks on stage. I was in the third row and remember the imagery vividly. I was not disappointed one bit with this movie. Austin Butler is an amazing talent!
I think perhaps the most remarkable thing about his portrayal - much like Rami Malek’s in Bo Rap - is that outside of the role he doesn’t particularly resemble Elvis in day to day life, and yet his remarkable talents as an actor perfectly encapsulated both Elvis’s demeanour, AND his look. He deserves an Oscar. I’m a fan, can’t wait to see his next film, absolutely remarkable actor
