On transmutation charges, if you really want some for cheap and dont like pvp/wvw. Create a character and map complete the hometowns of every race + lions arch. It guarantees a transmutation charge per map and since they are towns, there is no combat, so no need to level up. So for the cost of some time you can farm 6 charges per character. Delete and redo for more
If you want to make a legendary armor (like wvw): NEVER stat change it! The “precursor”-ascended armor will be lost and turned to an “ordinary” ascended version of the armor!
@raptorhacker599 it says in the weapons description, something along the side " this weapon is used to craft the legendary weapon xxxx". If unsure, you can always gw2wiki its name to double check :)
Another thing I see quite often. If you are a ranged character make sure to huddle with everyone else when playing group content (fractals, strikes, convergences and raids). I know it seems counter intuitive since you are playing something ranged but it's important to stay near to everyone else. This is so your healers can heal you easier, if you go down we can pick you up and you'll get more boons so you'll do more damage.
Obsidian / Karma: Agree but for the beginner (they have 0 of all currency) it might be helpful to mention that Karma is the "cheapest" ingame currency and most players end up having millions of Karma fairly quickly. I remember (not that long ago) not spending karma on trivial stuff because there might be a better use for it in the future :) Also don't agree on the Orange gear off the trading post: You can equip an alt for maybe 10g with full set of gear that at least reasonably matches the stat of the build you want to try. That way at least you can participate somewhat in your gear progression rather than have a group carry you to ascended gear on mismatched random drop gear ... similar view on instant level 80: It is expensive, but you get full set of orannge celestial gear. That is a lot better and more useful to learn a class / spec than doing the level 1-80 imho. And gathering tools: infinite gathering tools without glyph selection box are a definite rip off. If you look at the prices for volatile magic glyphs on the tradinng post, if you get them with glyph selection box, you can sell those and almost get the infinite gathering tools without glyphs for free ...
Good Pointers! I'll react to each one. Obsidian / Karma - Very true, a very good idea to save up on as you level. When it comes to gearing you can easily obtain ascended these days through wizards vault and other places like instanced content. No group will need to carry you because of your gear since IBS strikes only require about 15k DPS per person which is easily achieved by learning your build. New beginners should put more focus on that, and the currency they obtain through that lets them buy gear that lets them stat select, so no mismatched gear there :D Instant lvl80 boost - great item but as a beginner (especially brand new players) you run the risk of being overwhelmed by all the game mechanics. Sure it allows you to learn your class to a basic extent through cele gear and all. But it wont teach you the game which the levelling experience *somewhat* does xD Gathering Tools - Great convenience and gradual gold income if you pick a good rune, so its definitely something everyone should get eventually. But for that amount of gems, I would recommend beginners to go for other things first like material storage expander, shared inventory slots, unlimited salvage kits and such. It brings more value for a lot less gold/gems/money.
You can't sell the glyphs gotten from glyph selection boxes. That being said, volatility and bounty (mostly volatility) are good to use for extra free income.
Worst mistake a new player can make is looking into builds. They need to know how skills work as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Having a build and knowing how to use the skills are very different. You need to learn how to do that yourself. See way too many people with builds they don't know how to use.
@@nikosxristianopoulos4096 Getting the 1 gold for 35 astral acclaim is better. For 980 astral acclaims you get 28 gold which is more than what the 1% gold find will net you in a hundred years. Note: The 1 gold for 35 astral acclaim is permanent, unlike the 1 gold for 6 astral acclaim which can only be bought 90 times per rotation.
im crafting gen 1 legendery weapons... but mostly for the fun of it and the AP... some of the collections is pretty cool... and the hidden garden from the kudzu collection is pretty cool too...
Biggest noob mistake. As a reward for 3 full asc sets a box with skins is awarded. I've taken AWESOME greatsword skin. But it costs < 1g. There's a skin 80g-ish cost.
Good tips! Some very useful warnings for new players. 2 things: 1) I agree with not using level 80-boosts, but more for context, in English (assuming it's not your first language) quickly and gradually are contradictions/opposites. If you level quickly, you don't learn gradually. More accurately. you can level at your own pace in GW2, so you can level and learn the game as quickly or as gradually as you pace your leveling. 2) You mention ascended gear is easy and cheap, but only mention the vault and instanced PVE for acquisition. The vault takes a while to get full sets of ascended gear (esp for new players trying multiple builds), and not everyone does instanced PVE. How is ascended gear easy and cheap for open world players?
Regarding ascended, mostly because it's easy to get from strikes, raids and fractals (which I know you mentioned you don't do instanced content, but it really is that easy), but also pvp and wvw are options (you don't need to be good, just play and the resources for it come in slow and steady), as well as crafting being an option which isn't too bad to get anymore.
Another note, if you are exclusively doing open world, there is 0 requirement to get ascended. Hell, if you aren't doing fractals or HTCM and ToFCM there's no requirement for ascended
100% true! and even if a pure open world gamer wants to focus on obtaining ascended gear. There are plenty of achievements, collections and farms tied to very solo friendly content.
All Fair points. Ascended gear in any game mode is easy to get, but the point is that it's not quick. Most players are not going to spend time farming ascended gear with just random loot drops, nor should they when they can farm the gold to buy orange gear suitable for their builds in a matter of minutes, or buy from map farms like verdent brink or karma vendors. My point is don't go from random orange gear to ascended without spending just a little bit of time and gold on suitable orange gear. Farm your ascended gear on cheap orange, that you buy so it matches your build and you are effective instead of running around on randomly dropprd stats.
Disagree with unlimited gathering tools. 100% worth it if you use the volatile magic gathering. Recommend gathering everything you see and getting that volatile magic. You can use it to make even more gold and not have to always take up space in your inventory carrying extra for when your low or run out. This is for people who play all the time though.
New player here... Just got the volatile magic gathering tools on sale a couples weeks ago and boy howdy am I glad I did. I enjoy gathering resources while I roam around and this increases the value of that activity by A LOT!

Unbreakable gathering tools are subjective. For me that's one of the best QoL.

Crucial information! Good pick 👏
If someone does this, reach out to anet support. Had a guildie who did this and anet gave a new precursor set.
How to tell if my weapon is precursor?
@raptorhacker599 it says in the weapons description, something along the side " this weapon is used to craft the legendary weapon xxxx". If unsure, you can always gw2wiki its name to double check :)
Kinda why I like the OW armor, the precursor is an astral arcanum, one that can be bought 3 times each if you want all the weights

Wait! The biggest rip off in the Wizards Vault is the 1 percent gold find for 1000 astral acclaim.
Good point! That's one I always skip as well
I got that one but there was literally nothing else to buy
@@nikosxristianopoulos4096you can buy unlimited actual gold at a more expensive rate. That's better than gold find.
