    Lewis was my Ancestor. His death tragically impacted those around him. Suicide (incredible narrative) was never believed and although I have no idea why he was murdered, he was.

      I’m kinda balancing in between the suicide and murder theory, either way it was a short and tragic death. I also just can’t to decide to believe what may be true or false.

      He was murdered because he brought proof of the indigenous and welsh land claim . He wanted to tell the truth … but that didn’t fit in the Louisiana purchase NARRATIVE and land theft LIES

    i think that 'judging' any human being by the last moments of his life while ignoring all of the good is a sad commentary on our beliefs. if meriwether lewis did, for whatever reason commit suicide, we shouldn't let that color the strengths he showed in his life, least of all his compassion and the empathy he showed for other human beings.

      Yes. and if that was the topic at hand, that's what we would be discussing. But its not.

    The Corps of Discovery expedition has always fascinated me, in part by the character of the men willing to participate. The reasons for Lewis' death are interesting to a limited point, but I desire more information of the other members and their lives after 1806, especially those who choose to return upstream for more adventure, exploration and profit versus concentrating on the demise of a Jefferson appointee.

    The Lewis family has a right to Merriweather‘s body the people who own the dirt surrounding his body do not have jurisdiction over Meriwether Lewis‘s body they need to get a smarter lawyer than what they have so far evidently because Meriwether Lewis‘s body needs to be exhumed and forensically examined like yesterday!!!

    2012. Haha, now we know Jefferson indeed did have sons by Sally Hemmings. And he freed them.

    Hogwash! I lost count of all your own contradictions. And for the record... Madison was his cousin, and they both had native blood. He was not broke and the woman adored him. It was their fathers that started the rumors of him having an std came from the fact he brought back a child with him that was his, and the all said that because he slept with indians (Even though Clarke did as well) he had fleas. And that is why their fathers wouldn't allow them to marry him. He knew he was going up against a lot of Native American haters back home, he feared them. They got the best of him.

    Re; the discussion here about famous deaths...I saw JFK when I was 10 in Rome at the American Embassy. He was like a God to me at the time. Later when I found out how corrupt his family was and how he screwed around on his wife I lost any respect for him. Malcom X said the chickens came home to roost and I have to agree,

    • @r.c.miller6161

      JFK was a great humanitarian. He may have had sexual liaisons but Trump paid off one prostitute while married to a porn model.

      @@r.c.miller6161 You got your facts wrong. JFK was a sleeze. He illegally was elected by all sorts of corruption. Get lost.
      Melania was a model. If you think she did Porn then prove it. No evidence. Liar. Erotica is not Porn except to a Nit Wit.

    I don't know that I agree with the argument made in this video that Lewis was that fragile a personality. i would think that Jefferson (having lived in such close proximity with Lewis) would have seen this weakness in his personality and not risked such an important task on that type of person.

    • @BryanHistory
      @BryanHistory 3 роки тому

      Jefferson was actually worried about him that Meriwether carried his fathers derangement issues.

      Lincoln was similar, Teddy Roosevelt was suspected to have been bipolar…both achieved so much. Grant had alcohol problems. Lewis still accomplished a miraculous expedition despite returning home and falling apart and not being able to finish the journal etc. which is heartbreaking. i suffer from inherited mental illness so yeah this post probably triggered me but I’m also a history nut and it’s astonishing how many of our most celebrated leaders, trailblazers, thinkers, inventors..artists..revolutionaries…struggled with mental illness and often what in modern days we might call some learning disabilities but I’m glad we’re looking at the term “neurodivergent” because certainly it would have been a mistake to write off so many amazing contributors because they may have had weaknesses and instability in some areas but were wildly gifted and visionary in others. It takes all kinds.

    • @sashek8451
      @sashek8451 Рік тому

      But I know what you meant by this speaker referring to the “fragile” personality thing. It’s hard to imagine if Jefferson has chosen anyone else for the job how things may have turned out.

    What did Adams write his wife about the war ? What did Hamilton write in the anti federalist papers in 1787 about the common man & voting ? What is the electoral college's real purpose ? Why was Geo. Washington given the very land he surveyed for his British friends & why didn't he fund the war ? Why did Ben Arnold turn coat ?
    IN SHORT : Lewis knew of FREE ENERGY compressed air & wanted to tell everyone it would power Newcomen's etc... steam engines . The 1775 Girandoni technology was 1st patented in 1799 as ocean wave action generators & would have replaced OIL / KEROSENE profits . The English / American governments had a death grip on information & patents .
    Simply discredit & then murder is the 1% way then as it is now .

    Lewis' modern-day descendants include the acting Arquette family (Rosanna, David,Cliff,etc;). He was murdered; this talk is the bunk.
