- Lewis and Clark Pathways relived the adventure of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark's expedition through modern day North Dakota following the their trail along the Missouri River
Lewis and Clark befriended the Mandan Indians and spent a winter with them in North Dakota. They traded with the Mandan to secure food for themselves. Lewis and Clark’s team included a blacksmith who was able to make tools, weapons and do repairs. Ultimately, so they could have enough food, Lewis and Clark agreed to make battle axes for the Mandan with the agreement that they would not use them in battle.
The documentary was awarded a bronze Telly Award and a gold Aurora Award.
This documentary premiered in 2005.

Excellent video. I saw many of the beautiful sites in 2013. The story and North Dakota are favorites always. If ever I return I need to do the Ft. Union area

The stone story illustrates the power of religious syncretism, as it more than likely comes from missionaries telling the story of Lot's wife turning into a pillar of salt.
