- Follow along with Brandon as he uses the graphed scan data to build a customized data list. In this episode of Mastering Diagnostics, he uses the data to tell a story about the component/systems' functionality. This story of inputs vs. outputs and processing vs. adaptation directs him towards the root cause of a fault, right from the driver's seat.

Been watching all the videos in your series over the past couple days… the precision of your language and the clarity of your delivery is freaking awesome! Thanks for schooling me, knowledge is the greatest gift.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad the content is well received!
Ooh my goodness, why I never watched those series of videos earlier.
I am not a professional mechanic. I'm just DYI driver and spend some time on my old cars.
Thanks bro, love you from Saudi Arabia.
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching!
I wish information like this was available back when I was at the dealer . I felt like I couldn’t get better without proper training I was young but when your on the line everybody is trying to make time and you do learn but you also realize constantly how much you don’t know. I do feel like in this era now young techs have a lot of great info they can take advantage of and in that way as you always mention build up confidence. That’s the key .
You’re exactly right, and my experience was the same when I was at the dealership.
I was forced to do my own learning
Thank you Brandon
It’s my pleasure!
Thank you for the information. I can see why you like the graphs when recording. You can go back and look at the data to give you the answer. If the SI does not give you this info with a working system it'll take longer unless you can find it on line. Also if the ECM/PCM program is "Proactive" or "Reactive".
Thank you for watching!
Great video Brandon.
Thank you!
Great video , thanks Brandon
Thank you!
Exelent video brandon tank you very much, is there a number 6 video?
Thank you, Nelson. Yes, video #6 just launched. Please keep your eyes peeled for future videos as well!
Best ! Thanks !!
👊🏼🔑✅
Thank you!
Great video Brandon. One question quickly came to mind: Does the Alldata scan tool allow you to merge the graphs like they were in the first part of the video with the other scan tool?
This a great question and with the limited familiarity of the tool, I don't know if this is possible yet. I didn't find that feature as I was exploring. However, the support team is second-to-none and can certainly answer that question.
Could save a lot of time if take off the egr. Check for suction and pressure on the ports cover em with your fingers. Should have vacum and pressure present you can test the egr by actuation it if you have a scan tool. Fords use dpf to tell if egr is working..so don't get fooled. Old Hondas like that. Usually a plugged egr port. I bet it's not fixed ..lol
Although what you recommend is valid, it's time-consuming and some EGRs are not accessible without extensive disassembly (and rusted/frozen fasteners/location [Jeep 3.8L... need I say more] ). What I'm proposing in the video is carried out from the driver's seat and can be conducted on virtually any vehicle.

What do you think might be with a 94 GMC 7.4 engine that has a reduction in RPMs while trying to maintain 2500 RPMs? The engine did this while standing.several times in a five minute test. Tailpipe emissions show up as a rich mixture. This just happened a few days ago while driving on an almost empty gas tank because I was expecting to drop the gas tank and replace the fuel pump structure.
Depending on which fueling strategy is implemented on this platform will determine the approach.
For instance, an exhaust restriction would worsen under load/rpm. The MAP signal would increase in amplitude and the ECU would over fuel. This would show up as a rich exhaust stream with negative fuel trims
@@brandonsteckler3417 with a smoke tests it shows a leakage out from the fuel pump structure that needs a new seal or replacing the cradle for the fuel pump. The last time I had a similar problem with running rich was a bad new plug wire. I replaced the plug wire and the engine passed smog but EVAP system failed after a fuel pump replacement by a mobile mechanic. I could have dirt clogging up something.
@@brandonsteckler3417 BTW, thanks for input.
Got to replace the distributor. Can't believe that pulling off the spark plug wires off the distributor could strip the threads off the base.
Already did.
