Yeah, Judd Trump is trying, but he doesn't win enough majors IMO. To be in the same bracket as the legends, he has to start winning the longer matches and finals. Judd is very good in the shorter matches.

Ronnie only says things to take pressure off himself. He doesn't believe for one second that he'll be the top 16, or that major title are ebbing away from his reach. He is still by far the best player in the game and he knows it. Don't take any notice of his mind games.
Ronnie will never drop out of the top 16, he's playing in second and third gear for years and his B and C game is still better than most players A game
How can a master of his craft and a genius be happy with nothing but perfection?

Ronnie is a glass half empty guy. Maybe it's because his father went to prison for murder so it changed his view of life.
He's has a history of depression. He's always been weirdly negative about snooker but it's never really impacted his ability. His ability is so good it overrides his negativity!

All the class of 92 seem to be showing signs of decline (to varying degrees) - something I've been saying for several years - but (at least for now) they are all top 16 players and still capable of an extremely high standard of play.

He is right, he’s been on a slow decline for about 5 years. I’d you look at ranking tournaments, even if he didn’t win he was almost always the person with the most centuries in the tournament. He barely ever is this person anymore. He has more resilience now, better match play, he’s less wayward when he fucks up positionally. That’s the reason he’s still very competitive. He has adapted to his regression in break building

He does make more mistakes and unforced errors now, but his potting and long game are pretty much the same. His safety play is his weakest component, but he has always been like that. I think he is too harsh and negative on himself. His talent is beyond belief.
He can be a top-16 player for another 5 years.

Hi Missed one long pot and misjudge a shot in the middle. As far as I can see he made one mistake unless he is including safety's that left a pot on. But even then they weren't really mistakes. Just his opponent potting well.
Missing easy balls seems to get worse and and worse as the top players get older . Happened to Davis as well
He’s a certified fucking legend in the sport. The best to ever do it and ever will do it. Everyone just wants Ronnie to be immortal coz snooker wont be the same when he retires. When he goes out he needs to go out with a bang, fuck it win another world title and call it a day. Even to this day every snooker player will agree that when Ronnie is on his game he’s unbeatable.
i just hope he enjoyes playing still for the next ten years :) absolutely no one plays like he does, and i see him being better than most top-16 players for a long time.. but tbh, to me he's like Tiger Woods - i don't care if he does well or not, he's just incredible to watch.

Ronnie is declining of course, it's natural. His A game will still beat anyone but it's a lot rarer now. it's mainly C game we get these days but that's still enough to beat most players. I don't think he'll win another WC but I can see another UK or Masters.

One of the things about RO is that he has always been a closet tactician. He only really pulled that tool out of his bag of tricks when it was absolutely necessary but otherwise followed the Hendry school of thought of go after everything unless you have absolutely no choice. While RO is still an amazing all round player and undoubtedly the GOAT but for a wide spectrum of reasons his all around game, maybe it is focus, has suffered, not alot but enough to give opponents that he should demolish a fighting chance. One thing that many of the new-school fans and players don't know is that Ronnie is an outstanding tactical and safety player. I would venture to say the very best on this level. I think that changing his focus on his amzing table-running prowes to someone that can absolutly out-play anyone else and change is focus that way I would be that it would yield many many more Osullivanesque moments. Just my 2 Pence worth.

Don't always agree with Ronnie but what a refreshing and honest interview. We are blessed to have lived to see the greatest player ever in this wonderful game. I still believe Hendry changed the game for the better and will always be my favorite player ever and i know people say standard has gone up and i agree but hendry could only beat what's in front of him. So in my opy the best player ever us without doubt Ronnie O Sullivan. He's an absolute genius but even he admits Hendry wasn't to bad either. Who ever you think is the goat it doesn't matter. He had one of his best ever seasons last season.. UK, Masters, Shanghai, Saudi invitatonal Players. Basically all the big tournaments except the World.
