Excellent! Not sure how you post these tutorials like right when I nee to do this project! Your attention to detail is amazing! As I was watching a question came up "how do I know what angle to cut the bevel at the bottom of the "rafter"? Then you told me! Thanks again! Keep on keeping on man!

Our roof started leaking and I'm in the process of gathering everything needed to replace it. I also need to build a Cricket - to do the entire job correctly. This is how I found your video. It was very helpful. I'm curious why you did not use sleeper boards to attach your cricket to vs relying on the sheathing alone? If one wanted to have a sleeper board under the cricket - would they just remove 1.5" from your rafter measurement in your example? Are there any Cons in not having the sleeper boards? At my age - I want this to be the last roof our house needs. Thanks, Tony

A sleeper for a cricket is overkill and unnecessary in my opinion.

thanks man, you should see the one the roofer did on my house, it looks like he did it by eye , it's a patchwork of metal ( metal roof), I will try to have him redo it, hopefully !

Is there a way to do all of the math on paper without having to physically trace the 2x4 spine? Subtract the measurement of the wood off of each side?

Yes, that is my preferred method, but which requires more math.
