Dude, I'm watching your video in 2022 and had to comment on your explanation on the "wrinkles" on the rubber connector on the OEM intake. It's this simple, the air box is connected to the body (it doesn't move), the engine is on the other side of the intake (it moves/vibrates/rolls). The rubber piece is to allow for the movement of the engine while the air box remains static. The ribs/wrinkles allow a bit more movement between the two parts while providing multiple flex points to extend the time to fatigue failure.
Putting the air box grommets onto the new air box, then installing the air box instead of trying to just push the new air box down on top of them will ease a lot of pain for anyone struggling with that portion 👍
Oh wow! They flipped the intake manifold around in the newer model years I see. Shorter path for the air to flow (relatively considering all those extra chambers sticking off of the stock piping lol) Even made a new vanity cover I see
@@carsick309 I still look at the apperant air path and wonder how the thing doesn't suffocate at a standstill, especially in the high summer. The single slit just seems restrictive, but it works
Other than the sound, did you feel the car more responsive? I dunno yet if do the mod or not and for sure if I will, I’m gonna use this one instead of KeN…
@davidebergese3112 Honestly, I think some of this is "mental". You want it to work so you feel like it does. Only way to prove out is to run on dyno which I didn't. Long story short, it felt like it helped. I definitely would recommend pairing intake with exhaust mod for full feel.
Great installation video, did you noticed any increase on MPG? I see mixed reviews some notice a good increase and others have said they lost performance. Thanks!
Started replying to brake cover benefit not miles per gallon. :) I think it does help to some degree. But, my opinion may also be skewed because I have also installed a Pedal Commander throttle timer delay delete. With that the car jumps much faster and revvs harder. So that may also cancel out some fuel burn gains..
Did you ever add an elbow click to the hose where it clips into the back of the engine? I’m also hesitant with the hose attaching with no clamp / elbow clip
The reason I have not gone that deep is because I have also put in a Pedal Commander throttle timing "delete". That makes it feel like a gain without actually adding anything. The true way for me to gauge gains from the intake would be a dyno which I have no time for yet 🤔. What I can say "pre-PC mod" is a felt small gain in acceleration especially past 3.5k rpms and between 3rd and 5th gears. As for mileage, I run 93 octane because of personal OCD and it seems to have actually improved some. The offset though is that my PC mod makes me want to rev harder so the mileage gain is offset. Not sure I actually answered your question but the intake feels worthwhile for my purposes.
I have a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee altitude. Just recently purchased was going to put one of these or a k&N inside my truck. Do you recommend if you still own the vehicle?
If you do K&N you will have higher resale if you trade at a Jeep dealer. Otherwise they consider it all a mod and have to sell it as is. You can restore it to stock before trade obviously but it's a PITA.
@@carsick309 wow that's surprising, K&A are actually cheaper by about 130 bucks or so. My worry is that the air filter on K&A is exposed where the AFE is in a box. Also how things faired in the truck a year or 2 later? Were you happy and did you have any issues mechanically? Appreciate the reply, I have been going back and forth in my head on buy one don't buy one lol.
@Heywood I just realized you meant K&N full setup not a drop in air filter. I did the AFE because it was on clearance but for the money and ease of maintenance would recommend K&N. What this doesn't show is the PITA to take out and clean the cone. Much easier with KN.
@@carsick309 I was hoping you did cause that would have been very cool. I just installed afe cai on my jeep this week and I love how much of a difference I makes. Thank for responding 👍
Straight up filter enhancements don't require retune. More of an upgrade than mod. Except instead of dropping a, for example, KnN filter these also have a fancier airbox and shorter air path to intake. Certainly would help get most out of the upgrade to tune but would not trigger CEL when put in properly without one.

Totally agree
Thanks for posting this informative video. After 4 years, did any codes pop up because of the intake? Awesome Sound!
@@NuMBERNYC Nothing code wise, not even any flak from dealership when doing routine maintenances.
i would have you to see you install it, not already put together, you did explain everything very well

That's what was so weird to me. The factory setup is so huge and convoluted I just don't understand the point.

i know it's pretty randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to stream newly released movies online?
@Noah Wilder I dunno I use flixportal. just search on google for it :P -dominick

No comments on perfotmance/power increases. In video. Please do tell.

Nice dude! What’s your wheel setup?
It's OEM SRT set upgrade plus Bora 0.75" spacers.

Hi, did you even get that lighting kit you mentioned and if so do you have a link to it? I am having a hard time finding it. Thank you for your help.
Do you mean to put a light inside the filter box? No luck. Has to be custom job. Even my lighting guy said it would be a major pain to engineer one.

Do you recommend it?
Depending on what you are expecting to get out of it vs reality of gain/application that is a YES for me.
You need to dyna tune after installing intake mod. Becareful dont wait for the check engine. Chill!
