The assumed end of Eva is hard. Her belief that she is beyond redemption, with how she was talking, was heart wrenching. This has been one of the most beautiful stories that I have seen, and thank you for the opportunity and honor to get to know each of these Kindred.
I second that. That was also my reaction to those final moments, and the story itself. It really is one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever seen. Everyone involved should be exceptionally proud, because it all came together in a way that will have a lasting impact, on at least me, personally.
@@FlawlessP401 After she was done making one of the biggest plays. Eva very much wanted out from the beginning. It’s one of the things she had in common with Jasper. She had no desire to take sides among monsters. But then she met people she cares about deeply. And if her plan was to provide humanity with the tools to win against Kindred from the very beginning, so many things about her make more and more sense. Throughout the course of the story, she’d made compromises to her own humanity for the Kindred she cares about, but now we know definitively that humanity itself was ultimately the thing that truly mattered to her. And she was willing to sacrifice love itself to ensure that her priorities could not be corrupted. But most importantly, she faces judgement for her acts. It’s wrong to characterize what she’s attempting is suicide. Yes, it’s almost certain death, but there’s the important aspect of faith, and hope to consider. She doesn’t EXPECT to be saved, but rather, she hopes that every painful experience, and her sacrifices were ultimately worth something. She’s willing to die for her betrayals, but there’s also enough of a sense of inner-peace within her, and the genuine concern of Drew Handler, to keep her hopeful that some part of the universe would understand enough to forgive her.
The assumed end is very sad indeed. She obviously had enough planning in place that she likely won't be "saved" by her beast. Drew might be ingenious enough to effect her last scene as well. Until we hear a definitive declaration by Drew about her ultimate fate, I am not presuming to know how final her goodbye will be. Her motivation is plenty understandable and all anyone can hope for Eva is that she is at peace
@@CaptainParatos Very well said. Eva was always my favorite character. And this finale, in particular, her final scene, added an entirely new set of layers, and gravitas to a character that was already really intriguing and layered. It's funny to remember that she started out as an NPC, (no disrespect intended to Jason Carl's iteration of the character.) because Josephine Mcadam ran with it, and made the character her own. The way everything came together, and the revelations involved, made that final scene hit hard. It's gonna be sticking with me for a while, I think.
I discovered this story less than 3 weeks ago, I did not expect it to suck me in the way it did and am currently sobbing on my floor. The way everyone played and developed their characters was in no small way incredible and I cant thank you all enough for bringing this to life. The only words I can think to describe it are devastatingly beautiful. 🖤

While we’re at it, my heart also aches for Victor, who tried but ultimately failed as both a surrogate father and a leader. His greatest victory was just surviving. He couldn’t save anyone and he had to watch his family fall apart. My heart aches for Nelly, who shared Victor’s surrogate parent woes but also found herself pulled away from her family by vampire politics. What should’ve been a crowning moment for her, becoming Baron, came at the cost of her partnership with Victor and her close bond with the rest of her coterie. Man. Victor just cant catch himself a break. Out of all the Ventrue I've ever seen, I argue he is one i'd ever trust on either side. Heavy is the head that bears the crown indeed.
The problem is, he is still a power hungry venture and he does use and dominate people. He shakes with one hand and holds a knife in the other and thinks himself bullet proof.
@@vernonhampton5863 - But Victor plays more fairly. Hell, he's usually leaning to TALKING. His domination is usually used to smooth out situations, not control. While he used it against Eva against her will, it was in order to not cause a clusterfuck, where everyone gets slaughtered by a 7th generation Tremere Elder who could and would obliterate them. In the World of Darkness, he is probably one of the FEW Ventrue in power who has made a decent relationship with Brujah in power (Baron Nines, and Annabelle to some levels). For all his wanting another convention of Thorns, he might be on his way to just making relations with the two clans slightly better on the Anarch side. Clan curses will still maybe get the better of them, but it seemed like he ended things better with Annabelle and Nines than Nelly or Jasper. That normally doesn't happen.
Man, I was REALLY hoping for a Boston one, after 3 playthroughs of Swansong and counting. XD New York should still be VERY interesting to see! Wonder if it'll include any of the characters from "Coteries" or "Shadows".

What a great ending was very sad for Jasper being broken twice once by Eva and the other by X. I hope we will get more side stories. Eva was brutal in this final episode
When Annabelle realized there was something seriously wrong with X I could feel that cry of emotion. When Eva & Jasper had to split even though they love each other it was heartbreak. Seeing Annabelle and Victor like a Father & Daughter dynamic where he wants to protect her from everything but knows he can't. When Jasper handed X his necklace that he has had since Episode 1 my heart sank. Victor finally giving the Rosery to his son who didn't even call out for him in his state of unconsciousness. Then Eva killing Bosch took me by huge surprise and I'm like oh no pls do not tell me Eva is going insane due to her loss of Jasper. Annabelle and Marks scene is like lovers saying not goodbye but I will see you soon. Jasper admitting that he cares about both Victor & Nelli and that he will not be their savior and kill people except Nelli's request like her step-sire was before he left, also Jasper admitting Nelli is his Baron and if Victor needs him he asks Nelli not him. The whole group final goodbye really got to me also Jasper & Eva having to be near each other must be slightly awkward. Eva understanding that the hunters are a necessary thing and equipping Handler with notes, info, journals, and protection then seeing the sun rise for the last time possibly is both desperation of redemption and hope of freedom. This tale was beautiful, horrifying, depressing, exciting, slow, and overall worth every single second.
The characters of L.A by Night deserve to be immortalized in the books and in the card game! Thank you Jason Carl for this amazing adventure you are by far one of the best story tellers around and thank all of you for this wonderful series as it was truly a pleasure to watch. Nelli is a prime example of why you don't just give anyone power. Man she switched attitude real quick. However that being said Victor is no saint himself
Nelli is fine. Her most questionable connection is with the Inquisition and she’s got that handled for now. She’s playing the game the way it needs to be played if she’s going to do her job well.
She was bad from the start, diablerie gives you a huge stain on your humanity, plus she killed people ruthlessly, then backstabbing VV, working with Imalia. She’s actually worse than La Croix was, at least he never committed diablerie, although he wanted it.
@@enfissione8297 Wasn't it heavily implied that La Croix did commit diablerie? i recall comments that he gained a lot of power and was a lot stronger than a vampire his age and generation normally should be and it was hinted that he wanted the antidiluvian to do it again.
Masterful ending. So many long running shows suffer unsatisfying endings, but not this one. The decision to make these tight stories was a great decision. I am sad and my heart is broken that this is over. But I am satisfied, and that is so rare!

Oooooh, I really really like that scene with Annabelle and Victor. I was waiting for that hug. They both needed one! X just being in torpor underwater is so sad. I wanted him to just get the hell out and live his best life far away from LA and the girls from the Asylum but... This is just sad! And Eva!!! 🥹

almost 2 years late but I finally got caught up DAMN this got me in the feels - I forgot how much these kindred meant to me in the time between when i started this back when season 4 was still airing, and a few weeks ago when I decided to get caught up.
This episode was an amazing series finale in terms of quality, however each of the various segments elicited so many different conflicting feelings from me I’m not sure what to think. So, I guess for me it is best to describe it as a bittersweet conclusion to the story, as all great story endings often are. On L.A. by Night as a whole, I’d also like to say that watching this series has been an absolute privilege. I discovered it roughly a month before Season 4 started, funnily enough when I was writing an essay on radiation physics while at university and it made such an impression on me that I binge watched the first three seasons as fast as possible and have subsequently been able to watch the last two live. Over the course of watching this chronicle I’ve come to love the story and each and every one of the characters. My enjoyment and investment in it have given me a new appreciation for the impact good storytelling can have on a person and it has helped inspire me to get into tabletop gaming. So, to the cast, crew and everyone else who helped make this show, thank you. This series is undoubtedly one of the best things I have ever seen and for the next chronicle and all stories that are to be told in the future, I will most certainly be there for them.

I got to dislike X in the Very end do i get he got fliped in season 4 end still...I got to dislike him, but i do wish a better ending for him. Lesson don't eat High Priests if thy tell you go ahead lol .....X's deserved a better fate.
Finally reached the end. My heart aches for these characters. Tearing up and sniffling at work. Bless the actors who brought so much life to this cast of flawed, pained, immortal monsters, and to Jason Carl for storytelling so utterly beautifully. This story is burned into my brain, and I am grateful to you all.
I won't lie, parts of this had me close to tears. To Jason, the cast and the geniuses behind the scenes thank you so, so much for making this amazing tale of monsters happen.
As someone that heard about this story a week ago and binged watch the entire thing just to have me catch up as it came to an end. All I have to say is damn! Just damn this is so good. I wish I was around earlier to talk about some of this with other fans. I'll be processing this for a while. From producing one of my new favorite character of all time in Victor Temple to making a character I legit disliked and turn them into one of the character I hate to see go in Annabelle... to how Jason filled in side characters and guided the story and perfect side characters like Nines and Greg that served very specific roles but made there time on screen matter so much and so much more. I'm definitely a fan and I'll be treating LA by night like VTM Bloodline; every time I hear about it. I'll pay it another visit
Now it’s time to watch it again. 🙂 Seriously though, I think this series is far better than the vast majority of tv and movies out there. It’s going to be hard to go without this series. I hope they start up whatever’s next relatively soon. 🤞

Beautiful ending, even though I think Ib deserved a vignette...specially one with Victor. That being said: I ran into LA by Night by accident. Initially, I couldn't believe watching other people play could be entertaining. "Watching somebody else's games? Why the hell would someone do that?". Two episodes and it blew me away. Paradigm shift, they call it. Now it ends and, as heartbreaking as it may be, I feel the urge to say something: ONE MILLION TIMES...THANK YOU. As a viewer: thank you for giving me (us) a beautiful story. For showing me (us) this kind of entertainment was not only possible and fun, but desirable. As a player and storyteller: thank you for inspiring me to be better. To inspire me to bring the game to a higher level. To me, you redefined what RPGs can mean and can achieve.
I’ve been watching since the beginning and love and will miss Mr. Carl and cast… “for now.” As much as the ending broke my heart, it did seemed appropriate for this chronicle. I liked the open endings for our own imaginings, and making the character’s fates a little of our own creation. I have wanted to play a Malk for a couple decades, but felt I couldn’t do justice to the image in my head. Thanks to X, I see how it doesn’t have to be muddled confusion all the time. That was a Hell of a thing. Years of wonderful story telling brought to such an emotional end. There was a Lot of hard hits thought this. X, Eva, just damn. Omg what an emotional rollercoaster this entire affair has been. I am literally emotionally exhausted, but I loved every moment. Well, I am depressed now. Still, this was a beautiful ending. Bittersweet and befitting of the story. I live in the hope we'll get to see these characters again, but hope is a tricky emotion that obscures darker realities with flamboyant drapes. Nelli and Agent Drew Handler flirting was not exactly something I was expecting, for whatever reason, but damn... that was brilliant. Edit: Victor's face when nines describes the thing he's been saying and being ignored about for the whole damn chronicle as "nothing new" 😂
Lol Victor is a idiot as a character. He literally has a Ventrue clan symbol as his club logo, near constantly streams himself to the public while being a famous and very public media figure. He literally was summoned by the cops twice in this chronicle yet his accusations and evidence all mysteriously got lost or dropped.. Obviously he knew the Hunters were coming and that all of this would happen and that is because it is Kindred like himself that cause it to happen.. I just dont understand the love for victor his character (love the acting) hate the character.. He literally learned 0, previously episode he was literally claiming domain that was 30 miles away from where he lived and looked offended the second he got called out on his bullshit.. Jasper and Nelli done well blocking him out of their life.. Because he and Annabel are the source of much of their problems.. Not all but certainly 80% of it
Thank you for an amazing series. LA By Night surpasses anything I've watched in recent memory. I eagerly await NY By Night in 2022. I've never played TTRPGs in the past, but this series made me wish I had. Jason Carl is an amazing ST and I will totally watch anything he runs in the future. The entire cast was absolutely amazing and turned what would have been a great series into an amazing series. A special thanks to Alex Ward and Josephine McAdam: the Jasper/Eva subpolot hit me in ways that no other show has manage to. The ending was sad but satisfying. The reveal that Eva was aiming for Golconda and that she hates vampires/being a vampire explained her actions perfectly. She loved Jasper but getting involved in his conflicts made her more of a monster like him. She was forced to choose between having Jasper and becoming a monster or retaining her humanity and losing Jasper, so she chose death. If she only knew that Jasper himself rejected being a monster and a murder and vampire society itself, she would have realized that she could have Jasper and her humanity. Here's hoping she fails her terror frenzy roll, runs back inside and reconnects with Jasper so that they can pursue Golconda together, far away from the Kindred politics and conflicts of LA.
Hey LA, I found you all before the pandemic but it feels like i have known you all for years. Relistened to everything over and over again. I laughed, I loved, I learned and I cried. I will miss this. Its a beautiful thing that happened but i still will miss this. For ever. Thank you so much to all the cast. Cynthia marie, B dave walters, Alex ward, Erika Ishii, Xander jeanneretm, josephine mcadam and of course Jason carl. You all have influenced my life in a way you will never know and i will be for ever gratefull. Thank you.
If Eva has actually met the final death (I’m hoping perhaps she may have had an abrupt change of heart at the very last minute), I wouldn’t want to be the unfortunate Kindred who had to break that news to Jasper. Despite their souring relationship, I think the two really do/did care deeply for each other.
Even if Eva was determined to see dawn, keep in mind that she was not chained and her beast would fight against that. She'd have very difficult rötschrek rolls to do to successfully kill herself through sunrise. That would actually be a very interesting continuance of her character, I think, the despair of having failed to off herself.
@@Djorgal Very few places she could go.. She could rush inside the observatory I suppose where she passes into daysleep but otherwise very few places she can go.. Direct sun contact is what? 3 aggravated per turn.. She melts away in like 2 or 3 turns

This episode has been the most bitter sweet experience. I know that all stories have to come to an end. But there was no being prepared for this end. Thank you to the cast and crew for putting your hearts and souls into this production. I think that we all on some level or another hoped and expected there to be a 'happy ending' after the dust finally settled. But that isn't what this game about, is it? This is the World of Darkness. And here, there are monsters. This story had it all, It made you laugh, made you cry, made you think about the world we lived in. And now that it's over, all we can do is look forward to the next one. New York by night 2022. In the meantime, we'll always have these five seasons to play back. And hopefully there will be some V5 games starting up where we can all bring our own stories to life. I leave the Vamily with these parting words. "And this, is where we pause our vampire story, for now."
I cannot put into words how much this show has meant to me. Its change how Ive storytold and how ive view vampire after two decades of playing it. I hope we see more of characters and find out what happens to everyone espiecially X. Jason Carl is THE Storyteller. Also i am more than a little surprised to get to the end of this and say my favourite character was Victor. Undisputed baron forever.
I started watching LA by Night when it was first a part of G&S and I wont lie, there came a point where I just found myself uninterested in it. A few years later, I decided that I needed to give it another chance and managed to catch up right before this final season took place, and I am so glad that I did. Being able to have all of the information so fresh in my mind to be able to see how the characters have transformed over these few seasons has brought me so much joy. I just have to say to all of the cast - thank you so much for being a part of this tale. It was immaculately told - you all transformed a Vampire cynic into someone who is now currently running their own Vampire game and someone who is now beyond disappointed that he can't look forward to hearing Jason Carl say, "Let us tell a Vampire Story." Quite honestly, a part of me wants to ramble on and mention the way that every single member of the cast has changed my view on both the world and the game, but it would take too long and, let's be honest, no one wants to read it, so I'll leave it with a reiteration of thanks and a hope that each and every one of you finds another chance to do something as incredible as this story was.

Such a bittersweet end to this chronicle.....the saddest stories for me were definitely those of Eva & Jasper, and of X & Jasper. I do hope Handler was able to convince Eva to save herself!
My power duo! Jasper and Eva! Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Especially after she is now free of Katya, and doesn't have to worry about anyone else! Jasper can't catch a break!

This season was heart wrenching and I was dreading the last episode. Having seen it now, I'm in a very strange place. Those last vignettes will be on my mind for quite some time. Thank you so much for such an awesome story, you're beautiful and most talented people.
*clap clap clap clap clap clap clap* An amazing conclusion to the series that was significantly better than anything else out there, while also being criminally under-watched. (Next time I see that friend of mine that I told to start watching, and he still hasn't gotten around to it, I'll be sure to be as disappointed in him as it is humanly possible to be.) Wow, Eva really took this finale to the next level.
@@kkkkkkkk514 The implications and possibilities of that ending make the entire series worth re-watching again. (As if that weren’t already the case.) And cutting the ending off at her attempt at Golconda or death, is the kind of narrative frustration that I live for. In a weird way Eva’s story ends with her as the greatest hero or greatest villain of the story, depending on how you interpret the character. Personally, despite her betrayals, I really hope that she succeeded rather than perished.
Amazing ending, every character gave an amzing ending. X and the end of Eva was very touching. It reminded me of some of my own characters that I played, especially the last reference of Eva: A vampire that retains or regains their humanity and to my interpretation becomes more human then humans...regains her humanity. What does happen to her; does she die in the sunlight or...

What a fantastic chronicle. Thank you to all the actors for perfectly portraying all our favorite clans and characters, and the biggest thank you to Jason Carl for being a masterful storyteller and transporting me into this World of Darkness I love so much. I will now follow Carver East, to NY and its new chronicle.
(spoilers)This was an incredible end of the story. I hate that the codery ended as it did, with both Nelly and Jasper threatening Victor, but I'm glad Victor held his ground as I'd expect. Victor has been the most consistent and, in story, most correct character. I get he's very flawed and there is always considerations of power behind his motives, but he preached all the way until the end that the mortals were the greatest threat and they needed to set aside differences. I hope we see him again some day, B Dave is incredible as Victor. Annabelle's character has been a huge pain point for me since season 3, she is a Mary Sue for sure This is nothing against Erica, she has done great, but the character has been stale for 2 seasons. However, this last episode has given her character much needed growth that would have made her much more tolerable had it been done well over the last two seasons. Jasper and Eva's relationship ending sucked, but the signs were there. Eva's insinuated ending was very painful to watch and I hope maybe she reconsidered. Jasper has regressed back to being a loner, albeit with the hopes of not being a monster. The tragedy is they both fulfilled what each other were looking for. Jasper was looking for a greater purpose, someone to fight for, yet he let Eva go with barely a fight, feeling unworthy of it. Eva wanted someone to truly care for, but she found herself needing to protect that and felt she was unworthy of it. Both characters were better together, but neither could fight for it because they felt they weren't worth it. Very sad and definitely not the fairytale ending you want for them. Season 5 had very high peaks and deep valleys for me. Adrian was very interesting and it's too bad we only got a few episodes. The vampires aversion, mostly Annabelle, but also Jasper, to accept that there definitely would need to be a greater power behind the faith that damaged them so much was very odd. Victor disappearing until episode 5 was also unfortunate, but he is one of my favorite characters. Vanivare and Suzanne's fate not being revealed was also a bit disappointing. I'd have loved a scene with Vanivare walking out of the building with Majesty activated and even the inquisition bowing to him. After all, this world establish how powerful a vampire could become, even to those who think they have prepared against it. Anyways, great journey and I hope New York by Night ties up some loose ends. Thanks for the journey.
Such a lovely, bittersweet end to this part of the story. LA by Night was my first real contact with WoD and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable one. Thanks to all the cast and crew, and to the Storyteller, for these 5 seasons. :) Au Revoir.
I just spent the last month watching all 5 seasons of this show, what a beautiful job by Jason Carl and all the performers. So many thanks to all of them. I'm really going to miss all of these characters and this story. Onward to NY by Night, I suppose!
Just finished watching the chronicle from beginning through to the end here and want to say that it was a masterful production by all involved. Everyone participating in any capacity definitely deserves congratulations and should be proud of the results. And absolutely hats-off to you Mr Carl for guiding everyone through this one - you did an incredible job - even moreso for someone not trained as an actor (as I'm pretty sure I've seen you mention in responses to other comments). Have to say, you did such a great job with all the NPCs involved, but there were a couple who, just by your body posture and mannerisms alone - without opening your mouth - I'd be able to tell who you were portraying with just a glance. Baron Abrams being one example in particular. So, awesome work again to everyone involved. Currently following the NYBN series as well and look forward to seeing how it goes. Was curious, if anyone does happen to see this comment (realizing this is a good bit after the fact and so its certainly well within reason that this might go unseen and that's perfectly fine - still wanted to show my appreciation regardless), as to whether the NYBN series will continue after the present season? I'm hoping it will, but I didn't know given the change in format if ya'll intended to carry forward back and forth between the groups, or if it was just intended to be one season of each? Hope it will continue, as ya'll have done an exemplary job with that series as well. Best of luck with future endeavors and thanks for the hard work.

Only found this recently, but what a fantastic series. When i knew it was getting to the end I started getting sad because I dont wanna see these characters go. I wish they could go back to the days when they did errands for Abrams and were teaching the ropes to Annabelle. But yknow, like everyone says, you can't go back. It's everything appropriate for a vampire story, sad and dark and hurtful and traumatized and a reminder that the people in our lives aren't gonna be there forever. Peak compliments to the amazing cast and crew behind this show, for telling one of the best vampire stories I've ever seen in the City of Angels.
It was an amazing journey and I'm utterly greatful for all the cast of LA by Night for leading us through the experiences of their characters. Also my special thanks to Jason Carl for creating such creative and fascinatingly well done narrative. You've all done an amazing job! I'm sure I will return to this show in the future for inspiration and out of nostalgia.~ Thank you so much!

Hate/love the fact that victor is left standing so alone by the end of it. Especially considering the storyarch of victonelli. Sorta mad at nelli for not realizing victor deserves better... but then *shrugs* it's fitting and appropriate.

You introducedi me to the universe of VTM and you’ve been my constant companions nightly for several months, so I’m fighting back my sad emotions as I’m typing this. Well done, I will miss you.
The assumed end of Eva is hard. Her belief that she is beyond redemption, with how she was talking, was heart wrenching. This has been one of the most beautiful stories that I have seen, and thank you for the opportunity and honor to get to know each of these Kindred.
I second that. That was also my reaction to those final moments, and the story itself. It really is one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever seen.
Everyone involved should be exceptionally proud, because it all came together in a way that will have a lasting impact, on at least me, personally.

Eva very much wanted out from the beginning. It’s one of the things she had in common with Jasper.
She had no desire to take sides among monsters. But then she met people she cares about deeply. And if her plan was to provide humanity with the tools to win against Kindred from the very beginning, so many things about her make more and more sense.
Throughout the course of the story, she’d made compromises to her own humanity for the Kindred she cares about, but now we know definitively that humanity itself was ultimately the thing that truly mattered to her. And she was willing to sacrifice love itself to ensure that her priorities could not be corrupted.
But most importantly, she faces judgement for her acts. It’s wrong to characterize what she’s attempting is suicide. Yes, it’s almost certain death, but there’s the important aspect of faith, and hope to consider. She doesn’t EXPECT to be saved, but rather, she hopes that every painful experience, and her sacrifices were ultimately worth something.
She’s willing to die for her betrayals, but there’s also enough of a sense of inner-peace within her, and the genuine concern of Drew Handler, to keep her hopeful that some part of the universe would understand enough to forgive her.
The assumed end is very sad indeed. She obviously had enough planning in place that she likely won't be "saved" by her beast. Drew might be ingenious enough to effect her last scene as well. Until we hear a definitive declaration by Drew about her ultimate fate, I am not presuming to know how final her goodbye will be.
Her motivation is plenty understandable and all anyone can hope for Eva is that she is at peace
@@CaptainParatos Very well said. Eva was always my favorite character. And this finale, in particular, her final scene, added an entirely new set of layers, and gravitas to a character that was already really intriguing and layered.
It's funny to remember that she started out as an NPC, (no disrespect intended to Jason Carl's iteration of the character.) because Josephine Mcadam ran with it, and made the character her own.
The way everything came together, and the revelations involved, made that final scene hit hard. It's gonna be sticking with me for a while, I think.

While we’re at it, my heart also aches for Victor, who tried but ultimately failed as both a surrogate father and a leader. His greatest victory was just surviving. He couldn’t save anyone and he had to watch his family fall apart.
My heart aches for Nelly, who shared Victor’s surrogate parent woes but also found herself pulled away from her family by vampire politics. What should’ve been a crowning moment for her, becoming Baron, came at the cost of her partnership with Victor and her close bond with the rest of her coterie.

Man. Victor just cant catch himself a break. Out of all the Ventrue I've ever seen, I argue he is one i'd ever trust on either side. Heavy is the head that bears the crown indeed.
The problem is, he is still a power hungry venture and he does use and dominate people. He shakes with one hand and holds a knife in the other and thinks himself bullet proof.
@@vernonhampton5863 - But Victor plays more fairly. Hell, he's usually leaning to TALKING. His domination is usually used to smooth out situations, not control. While he used it against Eva against her will, it was in order to not cause a clusterfuck, where everyone gets slaughtered by a 7th generation Tremere Elder who could and would obliterate them.
In the World of Darkness, he is probably one of the FEW Ventrue in power who has made a decent relationship with Brujah in power (Baron Nines, and Annabelle to some levels). For all his wanting another convention of Thorns, he might be on his way to just making relations with the two clans slightly better on the Anarch side. Clan curses will still maybe get the better of them, but it seemed like he ended things better with Annabelle and Nines than Nelly or Jasper. That normally doesn't happen.
As an Avid Gangrel player. I have never trusted Ventrue Characters. But Viktor, might be the only one who I would trust.
I want to be his Anarch Tremere helper/minion :D

What a great ending was very sad for Jasper being broken twice once by Eva and the other by X. I hope we will get more side stories. Eva was brutal in this final episode
Jasper at least has Archangel, and grand daddy Nosferuatu of the labirinth :D turns out he ends up havering the most social conections ending
When Annabelle realized there was something seriously wrong with X I could feel that cry of emotion. When Eva & Jasper had to split even though they love each other it was heartbreak. Seeing Annabelle and Victor like a Father & Daughter dynamic where he wants to protect her from everything but knows he can't. When Jasper handed X his necklace that he has had since Episode 1 my heart sank. Victor finally giving the Rosery to his son who didn't even call out for him in his state of unconsciousness. Then Eva killing Bosch took me by huge surprise and I'm like oh no pls do not tell me Eva is going insane due to her loss of Jasper. Annabelle and Marks scene is like lovers saying not goodbye but I will see you soon. Jasper admitting that he cares about both Victor & Nelli and that he will not be their savior and kill people except Nelli's request like her step-sire was before he left, also Jasper admitting Nelli is his Baron and if Victor needs him he asks Nelli not him. The whole group final goodbye really got to me also Jasper & Eva having to be near each other must be slightly awkward. Eva understanding that the hunters are a necessary thing and equipping Handler with notes, info, journals, and protection then seeing the sun rise for the last time possibly is both desperation of redemption and hope of freedom. This tale was beautiful, horrifying, depressing, exciting, slow, and overall worth every single second.
The characters of L.A by Night deserve to be immortalized in the books and in the card game! Thank you Jason Carl for this amazing adventure you are by far one of the best story tellers around and thank all of you for this wonderful series as it was truly a pleasure to watch. Nelli is a prime example of why you don't just give anyone power. Man she switched attitude real quick. However that being said Victor is no saint himself
Nelli is fine. Her most questionable connection is with the Inquisition and she’s got that handled for now. She’s playing the game the way it needs to be played if she’s going to do her job well.
She was bad from the start, diablerie gives you a huge stain on your humanity, plus she killed people ruthlessly, then backstabbing VV, working with Imalia.
She’s actually worse than La Croix was, at least he never committed diablerie, although he wanted it.
@@enfissione8297 Wasn't it heavily implied that La Croix did commit diablerie? i recall comments that he gained a lot of power and was a lot stronger than a vampire his age and generation normally should be and it was hinted that he wanted the antidiluvian to do it again.

Masterful ending. So many long running shows suffer unsatisfying endings, but not this one. The decision to make these tight stories was a great decision. I am sad and my heart is broken that this is over. But I am satisfied, and that is so rare!

almost 2 years late but I finally got caught up
DAMN this got me in the feels - I forgot how much these kindred meant to me in the time between when i started this back when season 4 was still airing, and a few weeks ago when I decided to get caught up.
This episode was an amazing series finale in terms of quality, however each of the various segments elicited so many different conflicting feelings from me I’m not sure what to think. So, I guess for me it is best to describe it as a bittersweet conclusion to the story, as all great story endings often are.
On L.A. by Night as a whole, I’d also like to say that watching this series has been an absolute privilege. I discovered it roughly a month before Season 4 started, funnily enough when I was writing an essay on radiation physics while at university and it made such an impression on me that I binge watched the first three seasons as fast as possible and have subsequently been able to watch the last two live.
Over the course of watching this chronicle I’ve come to love the story and each and every one of the characters. My enjoyment and investment in it have given me a new appreciation for the impact good storytelling can have on a person and it has helped inspire me to get into tabletop gaming.
So, to the cast, crew and everyone else who helped make this show, thank you.
This series is undoubtedly one of the best things I have ever seen and for the next chronicle and all stories that are to be told in the future, I will most certainly be there for them.

I got to dislike X in the Very end do i get he got fliped in season 4 end still...I got to dislike him, but i do wish a better ending for him. Lesson don't eat High Priests if thy tell you go ahead lol .....X's deserved a better fate.

Bless the actors who brought so much life to this cast of flawed, pained, immortal monsters, and to Jason Carl for storytelling so utterly beautifully. This story is burned into my brain, and I am grateful to you all.
I won't lie, parts of this had me close to tears. To Jason, the cast and the geniuses behind the scenes thank you so, so much for making this amazing tale of monsters happen.
As someone that heard about this story a week ago and binged watch the entire thing just to have me catch up as it came to an end. All I have to say is damn! Just damn this is so good. I wish I was around earlier to talk about some of this with other fans. I'll be processing this for a while.
From producing one of my new favorite character of all time in Victor Temple to making a character I legit disliked and turn them into one of the character I hate to see go in Annabelle... to how Jason filled in side characters and guided the story and perfect side characters like Nines and Greg that served very specific roles but made there time on screen matter so much and so much more.
I'm definitely a fan and I'll be treating LA by night like VTM Bloodline; every time I hear about it. I'll pay it another visit

I ran into LA by Night by accident. Initially, I couldn't believe watching other people play could be entertaining. "Watching somebody else's games? Why the hell would someone do that?". Two episodes and it blew me away. Paradigm shift, they call it. Now it ends and, as heartbreaking as it may be, I feel the urge to say something: ONE MILLION TIMES...THANK YOU.
As a viewer: thank you for giving me (us) a beautiful story. For showing me (us) this kind of entertainment was not only possible and fun, but desirable.

I’ve been watching since the beginning and love and will miss Mr. Carl and cast… “for now.” As much as the ending broke my heart, it did seemed appropriate for this chronicle. I liked the open endings for our own imaginings, and making the character’s fates a little of our own creation.
I have wanted to play a Malk for a couple decades, but felt I couldn’t do justice to the image in my head. Thanks to X, I see how it doesn’t have to be muddled confusion all the time.

I live in the hope we'll get to see these characters again, but hope is a tricky emotion that obscures darker realities with flamboyant drapes. One last time, thank you, Jason, the cast, and everyone involved in this wonderfully engaging story.
Nelli and Agent Drew Handler flirting was not exactly something I was expecting, for whatever reason, but damn... that was brilliant.

He literally has a Ventrue clan symbol as his club logo, near constantly streams himself to the public while being a famous and very public media figure.
He literally was summoned by the cops twice in this chronicle yet his accusations and evidence all mysteriously got lost or dropped..
Obviously he knew the Hunters were coming and that all of this would happen and that is because it is Kindred like himself that cause it to happen..
I just dont understand the love for victor his character (love the acting) hate the character..
He literally learned 0, previously episode he was literally claiming domain that was 30 miles away from where he lived and looked offended the second he got called out on his bullshit..
Jasper and Nelli done well blocking him out of their life.. Because he and Annabel are the source of much of their problems..

Thank you for an amazing series. LA By Night surpasses anything I've watched in recent memory. I eagerly await NY By Night in 2022. I've never played TTRPGs in the past, but this series made me wish I had.
Jason Carl is an amazing ST and I will totally watch anything he runs in the future. The entire cast was absolutely amazing and turned what would have been a great series into an amazing series. A special thanks to Alex Ward and Josephine McAdam: the Jasper/Eva subpolot hit me in ways that no other show has manage to.
The ending was sad but satisfying. The reveal that Eva was aiming for Golconda and that she hates vampires/being a vampire explained her actions perfectly. She loved Jasper but getting involved in his conflicts made her more of a monster like him. She was forced to choose between having Jasper and becoming a monster or retaining her humanity and losing Jasper, so she chose death. If she only knew that Jasper himself rejected being a monster and a murder and vampire society itself, she would have realized that she could have Jasper and her humanity.
Here's hoping she fails her terror frenzy roll, runs back inside and reconnects with Jasper so that they can pursue Golconda together, far away from the Kindred politics and conflicts of LA.
Hey LA, I found you all before the pandemic but it feels like i have known you all for years. Relistened to everything over and over again. I laughed, I loved, I learned and I cried. I will miss this. Its a beautiful thing that happened but i still will miss this. For ever. Thank you so much to all the cast. Cynthia marie, B dave walters, Alex ward, Erika Ishii, Xander jeanneretm, josephine mcadam and of course Jason carl. You all have influenced my life in a way you will never know and i will be for ever gratefull.

If Eva has actually met the final death (I’m hoping perhaps she may have had an abrupt change of heart at the very last minute), I wouldn’t want to be the unfortunate Kindred who had to break that news to Jasper. Despite their souring relationship, I think the two really do/did care deeply for each other.
Even if Eva was determined to see dawn, keep in mind that she was not chained and her beast would fight against that. She'd have very difficult rötschrek rolls to do to successfully kill herself through sunrise.
That would actually be a very interesting continuance of her character, I think, the despair of having failed to off herself.

This episode has been the most bitter sweet experience. I know that all stories have to come to an end. But there was no being prepared for this end. Thank you to the cast and crew for putting your hearts and souls into this production. I think that we all on some level or another hoped and expected there to be a 'happy ending' after the dust finally settled. But that isn't what this game about, is it? This is the World of Darkness. And here, there are monsters.
This story had it all, It made you laugh, made you cry, made you think about the world we lived in. And now that it's over, all we can do is look forward to the next one. New York by night 2022.
In the meantime, we'll always have these five seasons to play back. And hopefully there will be some V5 games starting up where we can all bring our own stories to life.
I leave the Vamily with these parting words.

I cannot put into words how much this show has meant to me. Its change how Ive storytold and how ive view vampire after two decades of playing it. I hope we see more of characters and find out what happens to everyone espiecially X. Jason Carl is THE Storyteller. Also i am more than a little surprised to get to the end of this and say my favourite character was Victor. Undisputed baron forever.
I started watching LA by Night when it was first a part of G&S and I wont lie, there came a point where I just found myself uninterested in it. A few years later, I decided that I needed to give it another chance and managed to catch up right before this final season took place, and I am so glad that I did. Being able to have all of the information so fresh in my mind to be able to see how the characters have transformed over these few seasons has brought me so much joy. I just have to say to all of the cast - thank you so much for being a part of this tale. It was immaculately told - you all transformed a Vampire cynic into someone who is now currently running their own Vampire game and someone who is now beyond disappointed that he can't look forward to hearing Jason Carl say, "Let us tell a Vampire Story."
Quite honestly, a part of me wants to ramble on and mention the way that every single member of the cast has changed my view on both the world and the game, but it would take too long and, let's be honest, no one wants to read it, so I'll leave it with a reiteration of thanks and a hope that each and every one of you finds another chance to do something as incredible as this story was.
G&S was so much better than Twitch IMO. Shame it went under.

Such a bittersweet end to this chronicle.....the saddest stories for me were definitely those of Eva & Jasper, and of X & Jasper. I do hope Handler was able to convince Eva to save herself!
My power duo! Jasper and Eva! Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Especially after she is now free of Katya, and doesn't have to worry about anyone else! Jasper can't catch a break!

This season was heart wrenching and I was dreading the last episode. Having seen it now, I'm in a very strange place. Those last vignettes will be on my mind for quite some time. Thank you so much for such an awesome story, you're beautiful and most talented people.
*clap clap clap clap clap clap clap* An amazing conclusion to the series that was significantly better than anything else out there, while also being criminally under-watched. (Next time I see that friend of mine that I told to start watching, and he still hasn't gotten around to it, I'll be sure to be as disappointed in him as it is humanly possible to be.)

And cutting the ending off at her attempt at Golconda or death, is the kind of narrative frustration that I live for.
In a weird way Eva’s story ends with her as the greatest hero or greatest villain of the story, depending on how you interpret the character.
Personally, despite her betrayals, I really hope that she succeeded rather than perished.

Amazing ending, every character gave an amzing ending. X and the end of Eva was very touching. It reminded me of some of my own characters that I played, especially the last reference of Eva: A vampire that retains or regains their humanity and to my interpretation becomes more human then humans...regains her humanity. What does happen to her; does she die in the sunlight or...
Watching this in 2024. I've just had my heart torn from my chest, gently kissed, crushed, and gently kissed again. I am reeling with grief and burning insatiable need for questions answered. Thank you. I need to try and sleep now. Jk. Hopping to N.y by night.

Also the rest of the “Vamily” for supporting LA by Night and making it possible for the story to continue. The Jasper and Eva story arc was perfection and my two fav characters. I was so emotional as Eva faced the sunrise at the end. Josephine McAdam was amazing throughout the chronicle and I will miss the Eva character the most. Incan’t wait to see what you all do next. 🖤

Thank you all who made this chronicle possible. It was beautiful.
(spoilers)This was an incredible end of the story. I hate that the codery ended as it did, with both Nelly and Jasper threatening Victor, but I'm glad Victor held his ground as I'd expect. Victor has been the most consistent and, in story, most correct character. I get he's very flawed and there is always considerations of power behind his motives, but he preached all the way until the end that the mortals were the greatest threat and they needed to set aside differences. I hope we see him again some day, B Dave is incredible as Victor.
Annabelle's character has been a huge pain point for me since season 3, she is a Mary Sue for sure This is nothing against Erica, she has done great, but the character has been stale for 2 seasons. However, this last episode has given her character much needed growth that would have made her much more tolerable had it been done well over the last two seasons.
Jasper and Eva's relationship ending sucked, but the signs were there. Eva's insinuated ending was very painful to watch and I hope maybe she reconsidered. Jasper has regressed back to being a loner, albeit with the hopes of not being a monster. The tragedy is they both fulfilled what each other were looking for. Jasper was looking for a greater purpose, someone to fight for, yet he let Eva go with barely a fight, feeling unworthy of it. Eva wanted someone to truly care for, but she found herself needing to protect that and felt she was unworthy of it. Both characters were better together, but neither could fight for it because they felt they weren't worth it. Very sad and definitely not the fairytale ending you want for them.
Season 5 had very high peaks and deep valleys for me. Adrian was very interesting and it's too bad we only got a few episodes. The vampires aversion, mostly Annabelle, but also Jasper, to accept that there definitely would need to be a greater power behind the faith that damaged them so much was very odd. Victor disappearing until episode 5 was also unfortunate, but he is one of my favorite characters. Vanivare and Suzanne's fate not being revealed was also a bit disappointing. I'd have loved a scene with Vanivare walking out of the building with Majesty activated and even the inquisition bowing to him. After all, this world establish how powerful a vampire could become, even to those who think they have prepared against it.
Anyways, great journey and I hope New York by Night ties up some loose ends. Thanks for the journey.
Such a lovely, bittersweet end to this part of the story. LA by Night was my first real contact with WoD and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable one.

I just spent the last month watching all 5 seasons of this show, what a beautiful job by Jason Carl and all the performers. So many thanks to all of them. I'm really going to miss all of these characters and this story. Onward to NY by Night, I suppose!
Just finished watching the chronicle from beginning through to the end here and want to say that it was a masterful production by all involved. Everyone participating in any capacity definitely deserves congratulations and should be proud of the results. And absolutely hats-off to you Mr Carl for guiding everyone through this one - you did an incredible job - even moreso for someone not trained as an actor (as I'm pretty sure I've seen you mention in responses to other comments). Have to say, you did such a great job with all the NPCs involved, but there were a couple who, just by your body posture and mannerisms alone - without opening your mouth - I'd be able to tell who you were portraying with just a glance. Baron Abrams being one example in particular.
So, awesome work again to everyone involved. Currently following the NYBN series as well and look forward to seeing how it goes. Was curious, if anyone does happen to see this comment (realizing this is a good bit after the fact and so its certainly well within reason that this might go unseen and that's perfectly fine - still wanted to show my appreciation regardless), as to whether the NYBN series will continue after the present season? I'm hoping it will, but I didn't know given the change in format if ya'll intended to carry forward back and forth between the groups, or if it was just intended to be one season of each? Hope it will continue, as ya'll have done an exemplary job with that series as well. Best of luck with future endeavors and thanks for the hard work.

Only found this recently, but what a fantastic series. When i knew it was getting to the end I started getting sad because I dont wanna see these characters go. I wish they could go back to the days when they did errands for Abrams and were teaching the ropes to Annabelle. But yknow, like everyone says, you can't go back. It's everything appropriate for a vampire story, sad and dark and hurtful and traumatized and a reminder that the people in our lives aren't gonna be there forever.
Peak compliments to the amazing cast and crew behind this show, for telling one of the best vampire stories I've ever seen in the City of Angels.
Two years later and still worth the complete rewatch. I'de love to see a WtA one next!

i have just finished this series very late but it has been an absolute masterpiece, my hats off to everyone involved.
