Yeah. They wanted to do PS2 first but opted to make the PS1 instead, so that they have more time to figure out a good way for no lag deinterlacing, which is one the the problems that hurts the image quality when playing PS2 games on modern TVs. That's what I remembering hearing at least. Glad they figured out the quick 480i/240p switching with this mod. That is an issue when playing PS1 and SNES RPGs
Modding hardware and running games like this is better than emulation. I’m still a sucker for slick interfaces and box art though over a black window with a text list of games.

Just got my PS1 Digital and Xstation , Just waiting on my Xstation tray cover and going to do this. Paid under $300 for the parts and going to do this myself since people are Price Gouging well over $700 for these online.
I still have my original PlayStation complete in box I bought back in '97 brand new. The laser is starting to get wonky, but not bad considering it is almost 23 years old. And probably here soon, I will replace the laser. As I love that Sony logo with sound when I boot it up. I also still have my PS2 I bought brand new still complete in box back in 2002. And it works like a champ and all I had to do was take it apart to grease the disc tray. This mod looks cool, although I have a huge collection of original games. And if I want to play rare and or expensive titles I don't have. I use my PS1 Classic which does the job quite well.
Im going to wait for my optical drive to completely die before i decide to modify my ps1 like this. I already have a pretty good rgb to hdmi cable so not worried about video output. It is pretty cool to have an original ps1 being pretty similar to a ps1 classic minus all the issues that the ps1 classic had.
Finally installed my PS1Digital and XStation last night. Both mods are amazing. Citrus3000psi is making some amazing stuff. I've also got his DCDigital and GCLoader installed in my other consoles. Meanwhile, I've been waiting 2+ months for my XBOX HDMI kit from MakeMHz... not sure if I got scammed there.
I have all ODE for ps1, what's the issue with the PSIO that makes it so unbearable ? While it can be less accurate on some games for now, it has more leeway than xstation which also its own issues (cf github issues) such as unfixable region lockouts that PSIO will never have , or GEX : enter the gecko stuttering that PSIO already fixed but xstation stll suffers from it...
Did you know Terra Onion is also making an ODE for the PS1? Are the files for the XStation IMG, PBP, GUI? what file type? I ask because my XStation is in the mail.
I'm all up for the xstation and waiting for mine to arrive so i can install it. Im not bothered about the digital mod. I play on my Sony pvm which looks great with retro consoles.

Playing PAL wipeout 3 special edition and the video and audio cuts out intermittently for about a second. Is this a known bug with 50hz games. Have you or anyone had any experience with this issue. Thank you
I rly wish there was a non soldering mod for ps1 like the gdemu or mode. Maybe I should just suck it up and learn how but it seems like a pain in the ass lol and paying ppl to do it is too much bread. sick ass mod tho
Know of any issues with the xstation for games with discs you have to swap around? Legend of dragoon comes to mind where towards the end, each zone is on a separate disc.
That's one of the benefits of the MODE. I love the MODE but didn't wanna wait for that solution lol. I don't need the entire library for a 256gb card was good. 400gb been on sale for under $40 lately, so prices are coming down.
I've obtained all of the piece for this exact same setup. But my soldering skills aren't up to snuff as I'm still practicing with swapping CR2032s. I'll be sending it all out to @iFixRetro in January for assembly.
Take it from someone who tried to mod a Gameboy Advance SP practice practice your heart out with soldering before you do it because I broke my SP doing it

Hell yes! Been hoping for a good SD solution for the PS1 like with the GDEMU for the Dreamcast! Now I just hope cheap affordable clones flood the market like with the GDEMU too, lol.
I dont even pay attention to it lol, but I feel you. I was impatient and the second I saw preorders for a full modded console I jumped on it. Knew what I was getting myself into with a console from the UK but as it performs exactly the same as a USA machine due to the mods and my installation of a North American power supply I am very happy.
Of course, thats an option and its awesome. I have covered that extensively on my channel. I love to cover options, and I like these original hardware options but will always cover everything in between~
Does the HDMI have input latency? I tried emulating Parapa on Rasberry pi and the ps classic but it was not very playable due to the input response (either that or my brain has latency lol)
With this mod there is no additional latency added to the original console, only what your TV introduces. Some monitors/TV's are better than others when it comes to latency with games so gotta keep that in mind. Making sure your TV is in game mode if it has it helps usually. But yeah playing rhythm based games via emulation is tough.

GDEMU is plug and play. Remove the screws from bottom of Dreamcast, take top shell off, remove disc drive and plug the GDEMU. Takes literally 5 minutes to do all that and is easy. No reason to pay someone to do that.

You don't need to.
You can have an OTG adapter and plug the USB with games and power simultaneously from the back of the PS mini.
I remember back in the day, I had to flip my psx upside down for it to read those disks.

I still used my psp go for ps1 games lol.
I use my psp as an emulator and it can even run isos from SD card with the hack I use so its great I dont have to carry my games around anymore
The Vita is even more better in ps1 games than the psp, due to its perfect screen size that uses a very nice integer scale... :D

I use my ps1 classic with a usb stick. Works great and probably cheaper overall.
