Hello! 👋 Thank you so much! 🙏🙂 For the 1st handful I used really old MIDI files. Now I use a template with basic 909 drum samples and some placeholder initialized synths. Aux sends, eq, all set. I determine the tempo and key first. Just listen to the song and do it by ear. Quickly putting together some drum parts, I chose different samples later. Add bass part next, do sound design later. Add lead or the next prominent/obvious part, don't get lost in details or in things I'm not sure about. Quickly build a bad-sounding “midi track with placeholder sounds”, then get to sound design at the end. Most synth sounds are built from saw or square waves, or a combination of them, so I start there. Quick mix, then it's good to go. Usually, 1 afternoon, as you'll get diminishing returns after a point. I don't want them perfect, it's impossible. Good enough is the goal. I haven't done any for ages now, unfortunately. Feel free to download the Logic Pro files and mess around. (Free) 👍🙂
Hi thanks for your reply. That’s a great workflow to begin with! I make my own tracks but sometimes I also make a cover of a famous dance track. Just like you, I do it by ear. Just as you said, it’s impossible to get it sounding perfect so for me also, good enough is a fine goal. I’ve downloaded the project files (also from Ecuador), but unfortunately the package didn’t include the sounds needed. Can I get a couple project files from you with the included sounds? When your in Logic, before you share a project, you can decide what to include. Thanks in advance!
@@emiel333 I only used Logic sounds and effects, so it should work as long as you have Logic. I saved them again with all samples included, I hope it works for you. Interestingly the Cascada ended up smaller than the original and with an error I can not clear, but it runs perfectly. Let me know if you grabbed them, so I can free up my Dropbox. Hello 👋 there. Another great song made in Logic Pro! What’s your workflow when you deconstruct a song?
