Here's a theory: since the eldrazi titans as we know them are really just avatars, maybe the glistening oil would only corrupt the manifestation of emrakul, and emrakul, like the hand in the pond, would be able to form another avatar, not corrupted by the oil... maybe emrakul vs. emrakul?

After the physical Avatar of Emrakul is taken, that means the true GIANT form of Emrakul in the Blind Eternities would have to go to another Plane and syphon mana enough to gain another one.
Then again, CAN Emrakul gain another Avatar if her main one is taken from her? Maybe, but not for a very long, long time most likely, for it takes a lot for them just to make one by chance.

@@Viktor47917 Surely it doesn't take that much effort for Emrakul to create an avatar on the plane of existence that she is visiting? I have always regarded the Eldrazi, or any creature from the Blind Eternities, as being 4th, or higher dimensional, entities and the amount of effort they put into creating their avatars on a PoE as being comparable to us, or 3rd dimensional beings, putting effort into drawing oneself on a piece of paper.
For context, think about an artist drawing a self insert of themself into a comic book. No matter how powerful the characters are in the comic book, even if they defeat the self insert, regardless of their plan, they could never truly beat the artist because the artist will always be able to see what the characters are saying, thinking, or planning by reading the chat bubbles.
With that context, putting Emrakul in the place of the artist, and the comic characters being the Gatewatch or any character in MTG, it is really frightening just how much power Emrakul actually has at her disposal.

I feel like this what if relies on the interpretation of the Eldrazi as a corrupting force. I know that's how they were portrayed in the latest storyline, but at the end of the day Em's corruption of Innistrad's creatures was a means to an end. Eldrazi consume mana. Their spawn are extensions that assist in that consumption. Though it was developed through artifice, compleation is a magical process. It may be colorless, but the Eldrazi mastered colorless mana well before Phyrexia - originally they were black aligned. Im skeptical that any magical process could effect Emrakul without her consent, she could easily consume the mana and negate the process. If they had her consent, well, yikes.

Or maybe the glistening oil could analyse all of the avatars processes and reproduce it... Or maybe each part of emrakul have it's own mind and could be partially corrupted... Or maybe emrakul could see outside space time and is waiting for phyrexia to find her so she could corrupt phyrexia overmind and keep on consuming mana faster... Or phyrexia would absorb emrakul and control matter, mand and spark consuming not only mana like the eldrazi but everything... Or maybe we are all fucked......

  • @Legend39
    @Legend39 10 місяців тому +1

Ok, hold on. Emrakul doesn't have a physical form. Ugin literally stated that when an eldrazi invades a plane, only part of it actually shows up. The eldrazi are so vast and alien that even if you compleated their avatar, you are only compleating a fraction of their being. A fraction that would probably just either not be affected by compleation, or it would just be discarded and disappear. When Jace "spoke" with Emrakul, the projection of "Emrakul" admitted that she didn't even realized Jace existed, and that the creature Jace was speaking to was simply Jace's own mind attempting to make sense of something that literally could not be understood. Even if SOMEHOW, Elesh Norn pulls off some bullcrap plot-driven plan to compleat Emrakul and it SOMEHOW works, Emrakul would just become the dominant consciousness of Phyrexia, and the multiverse would fall not to Elesh Norn herself, but to her unmatched hubris in thinking she could compleat a being as vast and powerful as Emrakul. Not to mention, Emrakul's title is literally the "Titan of Corruption." While Phyrexia may have the means to corrupt, they would be trying to corrupt the actual embodiment of corruption. It just doesn't work. Sure, they compleated Heliod, but it took a massive amount of planning and effort, and they had to exploit a kind of loophole. They compleated Omnath, which is a being of pure energy, and a manifestation of a plane, but even a being as powerful as Omnath only holds a infinitesimal fraction of an eldrazi titan's power. Seriously, even if Elesh somehow manages to both corrupt the embodiment of corruption, and bend it to her will, how in the hell would you even begin to compleat it? Sure, glistening oil can mutate flesh into machines, but true phyrexians have to be surgically modified to be considered compleat. According to Gideon, her avatar alone is 150 feet tall. How many resources would Norn have to invest to completely turn just her AVATAR into a machine? As stated earlier, her avatar is only a fraction of her actual form. Because Ugin compared a titan's avatar to a hand in a pool of water, and the average female height (if Emrakul can really be counted as female despite being stated to be beyond gender) is around 5'4, and the human palm is 0.08% of the human body, we can assume that Emrakul's true form is at LEAST 187,500 feet tall, using a hand to body ratio of 150 to 0.08%. Meaning that if Emrakul's true form is simplified to be cylindrical, it would be 1,236,872,244 square feet in area. If we are assuming Jin-Gitaxias and his chrome host compleated Emrakul (because I dont know what the irl equivalents of the metals that the other praetors use, and because Jin-Gitaxias is probably the only praetor smart enough to do it), and it takes 19.91 square feet of chrome to compleat a human, that would mean that truly compleating Emrakul's true form would take roughly 1,236,000,000,000 square feet of chrome, which I GUARANTEE that the ENTIRETY of New Phyrexia does not have. Now looking at it from a gameplay perspective, it would be utterly broken to be able to use phyrexian mana to cast Emrakul. However, if they find a way to balance it, it would be completely awesome. So yes, while I think the idea of Emrakul's compleation is completely unrealistic, it would be awesome to see.

As long as we're talking about Phyrexia's missed opportunities - what if they'd gotten their hands on Nicol Bolas? In the same way they had to have known about Emrakul, the Phyrexians would also have access to information regarding the War of the Spark, and thus Bolas' whereabouts in the multiverse. Now, true, this is a desparked Bolas we're talking about here, and it's unclear if a planewalker's spark can in any way be reignited. Even so, I for one doubt that even compleation would blunt Bolas' indomitable ambitions; if anything, his sudden access to the One would only twist those ambitions further. He would seek not only how to reignite his own spark, but he may even go so far as to seek ways for non-planewalkers to be imbued with the power of the Planeswalker Spark, thus granting this powerful boon to all of Phyrexia. But hey, that's just a theo- oops, wrong channel. 😅

Nice video! But I would like to point to a few things that might be interesting:
-The Eldrazi are old and their mind doesn't really "work" in a way we can understand. When Jayce and Emrakul were chatting, it was implied that it was Emrakul and Jayce meeting in a "middle ground" where he could perceive and make sense of her. One mind so vast and alien could be a problem for The One, she would operate in ways the phyrexian hivemind simple could not process or access because it is bound by mortal ways of thinking and existing. While yes, you could probably convert her flesh, I think the battle to convert he mind would be waaaaaaaay more difficult and, for a twist, maybe even lost. Imagine what would happen if the phyrexian hivemind was taken over by the Eldrazi?
-Assuming my previous point, I would guess any phyrexian with a strong ego(mainly the praetors) would resist the overpowering will to bow to Emrakul, but all the other ones? They would become phyrexianized eldrazi drones. Norn would have a massive war in her hands before even finishing the invasion of the multiverse!
-Now we have a 3 way war with 2 very, very dangerous foes. Assuming a Emrakul victory and eventual control over phyrexia, we now have a massive problem: any world the eldrazi devour would become a new "new phyrexia". The stakes would only go up from there.

I like this take, the only difference I would posit is that Emrakul, once "plugged in" to the phyrexian hivemind, could probably convince them that she is The One, similar to how she manifested in Jace's mind in a form he could comprehend and communicate with. Also, since she says there shouldn't be resenent at her arrival, having her override the Phyrexian programming would explain why anyone would be happy to see an eldrazi unleashed.

I thought this was going go be a part of the phryexian arc when Jace said bring about the end. I know the phrexians are locked up somewhere In the blind eternities and with innistrads moon floating out there I think it's possible that emrakul floats in to where Jace and the other phrexians are, especially since Jace had that mental connection with Emrakul at one point. I don't know who controls who between emrakul or the phrexians however.

Jace and Vraska are still unaccounted for after the invasion.
If I had to guess, Jace is still phyrexian and evil but Vraska had all the nanobots microwaved out of her blood (and Jace seems to have done something to protect her mind) so is probably still phyrexian but no longer evil.
I expect Jace will show up again on a plane one day and possibly be capable of turning all of the oil and dormant phyrexians on that plane back on. (Norn Vpn)
Add in that he's one of the few with any idea about the Emrakul situation and the ONLY one who knows about Bolas, and Jace could be a real problem when he returns.

One issue I see with this is innistrad’s moon itself. Sorin’s construction of the helvault possibly blocked extraplanar communication from Nahiri the first time the eldrazi stirred from their tombs. Meanwhile, at the end of the phyrexian invasion, the plane being phased out of existence cut communication to the rest of the planes, rendering all phyrexians inert. The phyrexians wouldn’t be able to just try and inject the moon with oil- its silver would cut off the oil’s communicative properties to New Phyrexia. Hence, they would absolutely need to physically shatter the moon and engage in a direct confrontation, no mean feat. Also, Emrakul didn’t seem to care much for innistrad, and the leyline lure Nahiri created was no longer active, it feels much more likely Emrakul would just leave.

if i recall, the avatars dying doesn't kill the actual titans, what the gatewatch did was, to follow the metaphor of a pond and a hand reaching in, they grabbed the hand and yanked the entire being in, only then could the eldrazi be killed, mind you that still took the actual plane of zendikar getting hooked up to chandra and then hyper boosting her spell, the titans going physically into the plane was about to tear it apart, so it's honestly just luck that the gatewatch managed to get the spell off in that very short period of time that the titans were physical and then plane hadn't disintegrated yet

An alternate theory: The Glistening Oil IS already a FORM of Eldrazi. Despite being wielded like a tool by others, at it's heart it's a World Devouring force that wields the hand that holds it more than the supposed master. It's breached planes on multiple occasions, maybe the Oil is just a VERY different way of an Eldrazi manifesting than the Titans captured on Zendikar.

I made up a custom card that had the Completed mechanic on it, that it got more benefits for the more life you paid to cast it and it had an enter the battlefield effect if it didn't gain those benefits.

I'd argue in skeptacism where you argue in the affirmative. I think the colorlessness the eldrazi represent would offer a resistance to corruption rather than a compatability. After all, its likely the blind eternities would stip away the effects of the oil. Also, with Emrakuls life warping influence, there might be a case that she could undo the corruption of the oil, creating new twisted versions of life

A couple comments: A.) magic's multiverse is not one of parallel universes or alternate timelines, we have never once seen this represented and is instead been shown to be separate worlds not based off each other at all. B.) if I remember correctly the extent of the eldrazi's death is unknown, and it is very possible that only their temporary physical forms were killed, not the eldrazi themselves.

I really with the March of the Machine set was a year or two worth of sets, each featuring ~3 planes showing the battles on each and instead of the battle cards belonging to a single plane in it’s entirety, they could be based on locations, like mini planechase cards. That way we can have cards like the other two compleated gods of Theros, which we don’t even know the identity of yet, or have a bunch of compleated characters appear on cards.
Phase 1: the weaker planes that would easily fall could get a last swan song
Phase 2: planes that would be able to mount a reasonable defense, but have Capenna thrown in with the phyrexians underestimated the threat of Halo
Phase 3: Angels from Capenna fly through the omenpaths created by Realmbreaker and bolster defenses across the worlds that still stand.

  • @Pinkerton03

The only large issue with this is how compleation works. For a long time people thought Planeswalkers couldn't become phyrexians because of their spark-- Turned out it was because the early Planeswalkers didn't have a true consistent form anymore, you can't compleat something that doesn't exist. Emrakul is simply an avatar for a greater being within the blind eternities that keeps them locked within a physical reality, like other people have mentioned it would be much more possible that even she can corrupt the phyrexians since they unlike herself are defined beings of mortal stature.

    Several questions:
-What if Emrakul learned how to siphon the mana of the dead?
-Phyrexia may take the physical Avatar of Emrakul, but what about the true body in the Blind Eternities?
-What if Emrakul disagrees with the completion?
-What IF Emrakul could corrupt the Phyrexians and begin to challenge The One with a new army of her own, a more powerful one?
Remember, with how Emrakul is, she can be a bit of a spicy one. She mainly wants regular colored mana. But who says she doesn't want something else?
When she says she doesn't feel complete, maybe that was an early sign that Wizards of the Coast DID intend for Phyrexians to take Emrakul in the lore later on (sneaky move lol).
Or maybe, Emrakul was wondering why her purpose was so...shallow. She probably wanted something greater instead of so narrow like eating Mana all the time like Ulamog and Kozilek did. She feels incomplete probably because she wants something greater after observing the minds of others probably before she made them her own. Emrakul is basically a twisted, intelligent mushroom lol.
    So many possibilities lol.

    Spoilers for Duskmourn
I am afraid that Valgavoth is free from Duskmoun now & knows about Emrakul being held within the Silver Moon. So, the reason I say this is because of the last scene with Alquist Proft in his office. The very last thing to happen in that story is a door opening & Alquist Proft feeling COLD air blowing. My theory is all that talking between Kaito & Zimone about sensing things within the air currents was all in the story as foreshadowing. I also believe it isn't a coincidence that the guy who tried to screw the group over in exchange of being allowed to leave is named Winter. (He is golgari, idk.. Winter just seems like an odd name for Jund/Golgari; Winter is more U/W in magic) There may also be a hint that Val knows about Innistrad, Emrakul & the Moon. When the deal was finished & Val created a door for Winter (before he tripped & was stopped) the door was described. It had a moon where the eye hole would be and behind the moon, it was decorated with tentacles. Val has a corrupted sense of humor to send a man from a haunted house plane to a plane full of vampires, werewolves, zombies & geist.
I believe when the story was wrapping up and Val was going to kill Winter to heal from Kaito's wounds, that we will find out later on that Winter (in a sense of being scared & having no other choice) may have offered his body as a vessel instead. Maybe Val even killed the girl he was keeping young, who brought the bullies over and started this all to begin with as a way to gain enough power to enter Winter or maybe Winter, being a jund person knew enough about pact magic to free Val from his ties to the house... something she tried and failed to do.
The COLD air & door is Val, using Winter as a vessel to travel through Omenpaths, now free from Duskmourn. He may be trying to gain a spark or maybe up to more nefarious things. We won't know for a while but I believe Winter/Val might be are new big bad. An Elder Demon, more powerful than any other demon we have ever seen, now pretending to be a human & wrecking havoc on any plane the omenpaths feel like sending him.

The Eldrazi titans are the avatars of the Eldrazi in the same way that a World of Warcraft player character is the avatar of the player. Infecting the avatar cannot infect the player. At best you can corrupt or even steal the avatar, and it'd annoy the player - but the player isn't tangibly affected.

Emrakul is a titan of coruption, and glistening oil just intends to do that so they both are forces of similiar workings. But just as the oil was changed under jin-gitaxias, Emrakul could possibly currupt the glistenig oil itself. Then there would not be a phyrexianised eldrazi, but instead a lot of eldrazied phyrexians.
I personaly just think this would be more in line of the real otherwordlyness of these lovecraftian beasts, either corrupting the oil ore being unaffected by it. The presumed death of an eldrazi is something that just tastes bitter as this what really ruined the emersion of such an entity, and thats also why i hope that there will never be anything like a remote controled eldrazi (despite how cool a phyrexianised Emrakul would be).

We either have Bolas escape and try to control Emrakul or Phyrexia, Emrakul finds a way into the meditation realm and takes over Bolas by offering him his old powers or alters Phyrexia to madness, or we have Phyrexia manage to find an Eldrazi or Bolas and use them to escape.
Whoever is left out, ends up being an 'enemy of my enemy' situation. Eldrazi + Phyrexia ends up with Bolas getting released as a hail mary where he says his vengeance will come after the threats defeated. Or Phyrexia will be unleashed if it's the Eldrazi and Bolas and be a trump card against the swarm of drones/mana eating. Or Emrakul says "now the time is right" and unleashes herself to devour Phyrexia+Bolas.

Hmm… I think Emrakul to some extent would be incorruptible. That being said, Norn would attempt to compleat it. However, being that Emrakul caused great pain to the minds of those that could not comprehend her, even took Jace a second time to be able to understand Emrakul, the beacon of her message would distort the minds of the Phyrexians, maybe even to warp them to believe that Emrakul IS the One. With the Phyrexians spread out across multiple planes as the Madness of Emrakul spread it would consume and warp exponentially more than Emrakul visiting a single plane, feeding mana back to Emrakul - thus may even warp Emrakul into a World Anew.

    Ulamog would fall 100%
Emrakrul would fall when faced by an army of drones but as we seen with Ashiok, if against Elesh Norn herself it could go the other way.

The Eldrazi Titans are furthermore interesting, especially Emrakul, in that they could have well served the role that the Realmbreaker had - with Emrakul's true body in the space between the Planes being the connective tissue that would allow Phyrexians to go to other realms to make perfect.

@@randomrants148The eldrazi titans are just on another level. Ashioc messed with the mind of elesh norn, just imagine what emrakul, the titan of mental domination could do. It would most certainly end up the other way around.

I like this type of video and would like if you did more.
We still don't know what mission Jace was sent on. Maybe he was sent to Innistrad to find a way to Compleat Emrakul.
Did the titans on Zendakar truly die? I know the gatewatch tried to pull them onto the plane, but did they succeed? Or did they just cut off a limb? Since the avatars we see on a plan is just a limb, how big is a titan? Can they feed on multiple plans at once?

To be fair, whoever won between phyrexia/elesh norn and emrakul all depends on who gets a head start. This scenario in the video goes one way, but what if the opposite was true, emrakul breaks free and returns to innistrad and mutates innistrad to her, itd be a very different story

Just the thought of eldrazi's being completed and having phyrexian mana costs is terrifying. Turn one pay 30 life to drop a compleated Emrakul 😬😬

I honestly think if this had happened and they tried to conpleat her, we would learn a new way the eldrazi function, like ahe excises the infection or turns it back on the phyrexians and instead takes kver the hive mond because her being is so much stronger

Emrakul shows up on New Phyrexia: "Oh, new things play.. with.. eww.. this looks gross. This won't do, I'll have to.. Hey, don't touch me, I don't know where you've been!"

If the eldrazi is described as someone reaching their hand into a pond then wouldn’t the same concept of the whisperings and blights of insects have no effect. As the titans are just mere avatars to their true form

I think the idea of emrakul awaiting completion could have been a much grander and logical way for phyrexian to be defeated. I believe it was the simple death of norn that brought them down(not super familiar with the march of the machine lore so let me know if that is wrong). But if emrakul awaited the completion and was somehow a rogue phyrexian that strove to destroy phyrexia. Maybe she didn’t want to be eating phyrexianized planes or something of the nature. But her mind manipulation as a rogue Phyrexian could overtake the hive mind and teleport it into the blind eternities.
