  • This is excerpt 2/2 from my new interview with the legendary Iron Maiden leadsinger Bruce Dickinson. Full interview coming soon!
In this excerpt you can hear Bruce talk about how the Maiden fanbase remain loyal and strong because they are "like plywood". He also speaks very truthfully about the fact that some Maiden albums are better than others and explain why it is like that...

It’s called integrity. We mainly love Maiden because they’re REAL…and because they make killer music of course.

What I love most about Iron Maiden, as someone who’s first albums were Brave New World and The Final Frontier, is that their long songs are like symphonies. They have recognizable and memorable movements with different rhythm changes, the choruses, and guitar melodies and harmonies that, although sorta sound interchangeable at times, are so captivating that they sink into the recesses of your psyche. The lyrics as well are profound with messages about war, religion, history, philosophy, and how human nature in general influences the suffering and our desire for redemption from it. This band brings such a powerful consciousness and empowerment on a deeper level than most metal bands, giving us truly thinking mans/woman’s music that for me is the root of Maidens incredible success and diversity of fans. My most beloved band of all time that exhibited the beauty in metal and music in general for me 🥲

The music is true honest art made with integrity so the generation doesn't matter, it will always appeal to certain people. Good interview, looking forward to more.

Maiden is larger than life but down to earth. I’ve seen them once and that was during the Blaze years. I always wanted to see them with Bruce. I was station in Germany when they played but it was the day before my deployment to Iraq so I was on lockdown. Than they were in Austin the day after my next deployment. Lastly they were in Dallas I think the day of my last deployment. Ever time the came close enough for me to see them with Bruce I went to Iraq.

It’s about the songs and their execution. The guitar riffs, the lead breaks, the vocals, lyrics, storytelling and subject matter - all outstanding and done with such passion and just sheer brilliance. The last two albums are epic in terms of the songwriting, melodies and musicianship. Couldn’t be better. Maiden are unique and unsurpassed, simple as that.

Yeah, I know, the “warm up story” is a bit long 😂 But I felt it was important to give context and examples of the loyaly of the Maiden fans. Therefore, Ole and his sons story was important for me to include 😎✌🏻

I think the X factor is great and Senjutsu too in its own way. I do not listen to the first album and Virtual XI, but the first album has some nice moments for sure.

The rasp in his voice is concerning. That's what began to happen to Paul Stanley 15 years ago. And Bruce does use very strong vocals in their songs, using many muscles. Scary to see Bruce start to lose it one day.
