- A visit to Skout Airguns was one of the most asked for videos, and Bill from Skout did not disappoint. He was happy to discuss details of this innovative airgun's design.
Honestly, after the interview is over, the only question I can think of isn't even a question that can be answered off a range...How would it shoot if I had the chance to put a mag or three downrange.
The air rifle shoulders nicely, and the trigger (electronic) is very...VERY responsive...I think he said it can be adjusted down to 8 grams.
Grab a beverage and enjoy.

Best channel coverage of shot period 👌
Wow! Thank you.
@Wisconsin AirGunners well-done man you got the info out fast and covered all the good stuff cant ask for much more than that
I have always been hesitant to buy any gun with electronics in it. This gun and the way it has been thought out in function and design may be the first one I consider that has any form electronics in it.
On the plus side they have been producing electronic paintball markers for a looong time and have worked out the kinks.
Refinance the house!!!
Man, what a talkative dude. To make such a complicated matter concise and somewhat understandable is incredible. I do think if this man is married, he shouldn't bring up work at home. 🤔 Thank you for really bringing us some highlights this week. You undoubtedly already deserve a ten for the sound.
It’s been fun to slip a few interviews in between what’s otherwise been a working trip, and I’m glad to have been able to share what I’ve seen.
I think skout is my favorite company and my dream gun.
FX best be worried about this rifle. If they're not, they should be 😎
I want ringside seats for the showdown!
That presentation was impressive! Bill knew his stuff inside and out. Great video.
Thanks.
SKOUT brought their A game, he nailed the product demo. Thanks for videoing that.
Glad to be of service and appreciative of Bill for taking the time to give us the tour!
Guy really has airguns figured out. Years and years of experience in paintball.
Yup!
Wow! Bill is so informative and as you said, "passionate" about the gun! I am really amazed at the required psi....that speaks volumes for shot count in my mind. Can't wait to see one in action! Great job on coverage sir, outstanding as always. There is conveyed confidence and Creedence in you voice tone and delivery. Be blessed with all that you need.
Thank you very much for those kind words.
Awesome rifle. Thanks brother. 🎯👍
You are welcome!
Great video. Billy's a seasoned pro and makes it sound great, but just wait till you shoot it! It's an awesome platform.
I can’t wait to see it shot!
The knowledge ,passion and pride for the product is very clear to see ,I am looking forward to these guns arriving in the uk , It will force other manufacturers to step up or be left behind .
They certainly have a track record at being at the top of the paintball world. It’s an exciting time to be an Airgunner!
@@WiscAirGunners I will be investing 😎
Exciting times for sure!! Thanks PJ! Great interview! Super Coverage from the Shot Show!
Thank you!
GREAT STUFF PJ and BILL. I can't wait
Thanks.
Bill, Adam, Daryl and all the guys there make great products, have done in paintball for the longest time. Would love to try this rifle out.
Me too!
So excited for this release!
I was talking to a retailer who said he has a shipment inbound.
Take my money!:)
If you’ve got it I’m sure they will!
Great job! I can't wait to receive mine! Any day now!
I can’t wait to see your groups!
@@WiscAirGunners You will see them as soon as I get this thing. You will also see them at the Northeast Airgun Classic on the 100yd targets!
@@airshootist Good luck! I'll be excited to see how you do!
Whoa, this presentation boosted airgun technology 10years ahead... this gun must be The RR of airguning the best of best and surely pricewise is not cheap... would I pay for this? I think I would...
Excellent... I can hear Swedish people crying right now
It will all come down to the results at 100. I'm excited to see what it can do.
Great video, vary informative. Thanks P.J.
Glad to be in position to bring the info to you.
phenomenal company with great customer service
I've not had the chance to test that out, so I'll take your word for it.
Skout technology and engineering looks awesome. Praying that they bring out a self indexing semi auto that fires the pellet from the mag and does not need manual cocking for every shot. Especially a compact bullpup like Huben K1 or Steyr pro x
Take my money Skout (that I dont have :) )
That would be cool.
I’m Truly looking Forward to seeing You do an In-depth Review Of The Epoch PJ.
Pellets & Slugs. 👌🏽
This was a Very Good Interview, and We The Airgun Community (Trust) your Words when it comes to Airguns my friend.
So Please keep Doing What You Do PJ👌🏽
Thank you Tony. If the chance arises I will grab it with both hands.
I appreciate your trust, and don't take it lightly.
With all the features and add on as standard it costs less than Impact MK3.
Ordered mine.
Can't wait.
Looking forward to hearing about it when you get it.
@@WiscAirGunners 10-4
Now that's a great interview. Go Skout
He took it and ran with it. Easy on my part...just had to keep up.
This man just sold me on their platform. I just need that winning lottery ticket lol.
You and me both.
I want one. But will probably be the prize of a small car by the time it finds its way to Europe... 😳
🤣😂🤣
I want to see more shooting videos with this gun. Be interested to see if any of the big air gun video producers pick up this gun. A lot of components are standard, good considering its price point.
Rest assured that if the opportunity presents itself, I will take it.
I do have a kalibrgun cricket I do not own an fx but now I would not buy FX because at their price and then you add a few mods to get it to be competition or Long Range Hunting like you won't you might as well buy this gun and your almost there with the addition of all the bells and whistles
You do have to factor in total cost of ownership when making decisions about products at this end of the spectrum.
Exactly
Already comes with:
2 extra barels with carbon fiber wrap.
Tension system.
Large efficient plenom.
Large scopable case.
And more.
FX IMPACT MK3 with above is more money 💰
73 bar reg gives 44.8 pellets 900fps
Crazy 🤪
I don't know when I will be able to afford one but wow incredible technology, very forward thinking. Great job!!!!
The cheap seats are definitely not up front on this one!
What a gun
Hope to have a chance to shoot one at some point.
Have to say, as others have, the Epoch looks & sounds great
I’m impressed and want to see the results of people shooting.
@@WiscAirGunners agreed, have to say I'm tempted
i like it.
Thanks Steve!
Another great video from PJ. I'm concerned about the comment regarding the future bottle regulator to tighten the FPS SD. Also, the 22 cal is the last to be released and they want to ensure it's right. 🤨 Both these make me want to wait for the rolling revisions or next-gen.
Personally I think its good he said it, unlike other companies, like FX who just let us buy it & test to see if it works. He was being transparent, which is only positive to hear
They seem excited for the launch, but are still finalizing a few things with some calibers. Another reg seems necessary only if you want maximum shots per fill.
Remember that .22 is the only airgun's caliber of which we have every kind of ballistic data. All the others are too much slower than their PB counterparts to recycle ballistic statistics. And all of that hits a lot of gun's parts such as barrel, muzzle, magazine.
.22 will be the real market stealer, IMHO
Amazing rifle! Hopefully as more manufacturers apply air soft technology to pellet/slug air rifles prices will come down. Barra started with BB air guns. PJ, my novice question, is to maintain air rifle competitions from turning into who can buy the highest tech electronic/ computerized air rifle. Do you think the air rifle community/ rules organization should divide the competitions into two or more classes? Tradition all mechanical air rifles in one class and electronic / computerized in another class?
That’s an interesting point. In some disciplines, field target for example, there are stringent equipment requirements. We often see pro and sportsman classes, so that idea, different classes, isn’t without precedent.
Thank you for these uploads from SS2023, everyone else slacking....
Thanks for noticing.
My only question left is if the cocking handle is movable to the left side? It looks like there is a removable insert opposite of the handle, so maybe?
The rifle seems kinda pricey, but after the detailed review it seems to be well worth the cost. Just the maintenance kit was a real value. And it comes with 3barrels!! Cool video.
I think sometimes what you get for what you pay is a factor, and other times what you have to pay is a lot and you have to decide how badly you want it.
👍 Hope I have the right numbers on my lottery tickets!
Good luck!
Technology Wow
Crazy, isn’t it.
I need this in .357 asap.
The power band is pretty impressive.
Can you explain how the magazine actually works , as far as rotations?
It sits in a neutral position without a stop. You could spin the cassette either way. You can spin (and they recommend doing testing) one, two, three or more revolutions putting spring tension on the cassette. You choose how tightly to wind it. This way if you are using a thinly skirted pellet you are less likely to crush it in the magazine. Generally heavy pellets or slugs will need more spring tension for reliable feeding.
are these barrels choked ? classic rifling or polygon profile ?
They looked classic and I THINK choked as they talked about developing a separate slug barrel.
Will this shoot BB's too? (Kidding)
😆🤣😆
What are your Thoughts after talking with Bill about the Epoch ?
I had never met Bill or any of his crew before. He has true passion for airgunning generally and the Epoch specifically.
You can see that paintball tech influences the design. The +/- sized liners, electronics in the grip, etc.
They’ve gotten a lot sorted out, but are not at the finish line yet.
I’m excited about what the platform brings to the table, er…bench, but will withhold final judgement until I can see the groups.
I want to see a 5 shot group at 100 yards please.
Me too! Actually I'd like to see 10 shot groups.
Agreed. All talk so far. Don't even have a slug barrel. Show me some proof. So far I see nothing worth the price they are asking, plus poor warranty on electronics. 1 yr warranty is a joke.
This guy is playing for keeps. In precision. Airgun world.
It should be exciting to see what they accomplish in our part of the airgun world.
Like to know the shot count in both 25 cal. and 30 cal. for both length barrels.
There are going to be a lot of variables on that. As it operates at such a low pressure that number should be uncommonly high if it works as advertised.
To complicated, the simpler the less to go wrong.
If they hadn’t dominated paintball markers for the last 20+ years I’d say the same. I think that track record should stand for something.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s unproven until it’s proven, but if I understand the firing system it may have fewer moving parts than most regulated airguns.
Hopefully by this time next year there will be units in the field and both of our questions will be answered.
FP on the. 357
He said the platform can be tuned up to 160, so I assume that’s .357.
Ok thank you @@WiscAirGunners
2900 bucks for this thing??? cant afford it so i guess i wont be getting this rifle but it sounds really nice.
This one is probably out of reach for most shooters, but we can hope the tech trickles down to things we might be able to get our hands on.
Can you get one without electronics?
I don’t think so. It’s integral to their valving.
@@WiscAirGunners thank you
I've watched all the videos they have out not once do they talk about how much does it weigh or how many shots per fill.
There is so much variability in how these are tuned, and what pellet you’re shooting, that at best we’d be given a range.
If you’re maximizing accuracy you’ll probably fill to well less than its maximum fill pressure. The weight I just forgot to ask, but again it will depend on configuration. I’d put it in line with something like an Impact.
For what it’s worth it feels nice in the shoulder.
Very promising but the price is out of a lot of people price range.
@@russellfleet7636 I agree 100%. I did not get the impression that they thought they were trying to build an air gun for everyone. I think they are firmly in the segment of the market that is trying to push what an airgun is capable of. There are certainly some parts of their design that I think would be interesting to see applied to other, more affordable offerings. Maybe that’s a direction they will go in the future.
@@WiscAirGunners I agree with you 💯 percent on that.
The tech is insane! Daystate looks dated comparatively....its 🇺🇲🇺🇸 for the win!!!!!
Pretty cool!
What was the shot count?
I don’t know that you’ll see them report those numbers. At least not the same way. Other manufacturers report it.
They clearly have a different view of what a fill is. When we were talking, he was referencing optimizing a fill for accuracy based on how many shots you need to take before refilling at any given time. That’s a different way than most of us think about filling an airgun
I also think that it will vary quite a bit based on what you’re tuning the power output to be.
@@WiscAirGunners Great interview, you let him speak and didn't keep interrupting him like a lot of people do. Right now I will stick with my JSAR Raptor, super accurate. Great content.
Way to complicated for me with all the settings and electronic tralala. Nothing outperforms the simplicity and reliability of a quality springer. Do i need more power i take one of my a rim or centerfire rifles.
As I often say, it's great that we have choices and awesome that companies are willing to push what's possible forward.
What kind of batteries does it take and how long do they last. I can imagine being on a hunt and seeing the animal of a lifetime then the damn batteries go dead and I can't shoot schitt.
I saw the battery, and it looked like a lipo cell from a Samsung phone. Flat and squarish. They have spares.
@@WiscAirGunners looks like a very good air rifle. The battery-operated aspect of it would make it a no-go for me. Same reason I don't like a red dot. Right when you need it the damn batteries always go dead
diy shooting targets
They wouldn’t let us.
interesting stuff. rich guys only tho
The cost of entry is up there on this one.
A FX IMPACT MK3 with 3 carbon fiber wrap barrels and tension kit would cost more. !!
@@stedyone1090 other rich guy stuff
I see one problem with this rifle if your wife is internet smartphone Savvy she can't trace you down through your rifle talk to you and tell you you got thirty minutes to shoot and then knock it off and then get home and mow tha yard even if you leave tha phone in tha vehicle LOL
He didn't say whether or not you can put it into airplane mode. LOL.
Cool gun but all the electronics are over the top for me. Not at all my thing.
I think a lot of people are turned off by the electrics. The people at the wheel at Skout have the pedigree to make it work, and what remains to be seen (my opinion) is how that tech works in the field as measured by pellets on paper. If it consistently delivers MOA results at 100 yards it deserves respect and attention. The up side for all of us is that there is another manufacturer offering choice.
FX copied a lot of Paintball technology ..So Where does this guy come from is he part of Dye Paintball ,Cos that looks like a Dye Paintball gun ?
The Skout team has it's roots in the paintball industry.
@@WiscAirGunners Yeah the Paintball Industry made a lot innovations over the years ,One of them was being able to field strip the gun in seconds with just one push of a button on the back, all the firing mechanism and spools can be cleaned and bit back in while your still fighting in a match ..I see there trying this with the Scout air-rifle ,And electronic triggers have been around for years ,and LED menu screens on the grips have been around for 20 years .Plus quick change barrels ....In the future you will be able to get your Airgun custom anodized and loads of after market products
Show me a 10 shot group with slugs at 100yds. Oh wait you don't even show that with pellets. Nothing new here just lots of talk at a high price. Show me something. I am glad there is competition but give us some proof.
I would very much like to be able to show you the proof one way or another, it just isn't possible at a trade show. If the opportunity to pull the trigger on one of these arises, I'll be sure to shoot the groups you are looking for. For what it's worth I think they are focussed on pellet barrel development first.
3000 dollars lol
No doubt out of the range of many.
2000 🤣🤣🤣🤣😉 yea I’m real good bud
A tough check to write.
