That's getting crowd into it, which is important. For me, it's more of how he walks away from the player and will shake the hands of the crowd before his opponent, which happens when he defeats Iyo.
Poongko is one of the most exciting players I've ever seen, but he needs to tone down that aggressiveness when he is visibly ahead in a match. If he does, that he is unbeatable.
Being cocky isnt necessarily a bad thing. Muhammid Ali was very cocky and he mocked many of his opponents, yet he is considered by many to be the greatest. Its just there style
in korea poongko doesn't have alot of players with great defense, he typically runs through them. Daigo plays the best defensive thinkers in the entire game, every day in japan. Justin's main thing that makes him great imo IS his defense. Daigo beat Justin quite a bit easier, by being able to easily out think his defense (and ryu's anti air > rufus). Main difference in daigo's match and poons with wong, is daigo can break great defense effortlessly.
Poongko is an amazing player he has excellent execution skills, timing and his technical play is impressive. He is too aggressive sometimes though and he takes unnecessary risks. Wong won because he played it safe and capitalised on mistakes Poongko shouldn't have made. Perhaps Poongko could get away with things like that in Korea but I hope he has realised he cannot on the world stage. If he gets rid of those bad habits and plays a smarter game he would become almost invincible.
This poongko has my respect. He plays very offensive and his combo potential is among the best. Its just that it goes at the expense of his defensive game, which is below par. You see him making mistakes Daigo doesn't make, like Tatsu's on wake up.
for those who say poongko doesnt have mind games look at 1:08 (he baits a scrubby ex m kick and neutral jumps over it) and 1:27 (makes justin thinks he's exposed and baits him into an attack)
Yes, he could have focus dash cancelled out of it, but no one is perfect. I still say he has the best Ryu despite Daigo beating him. His technical skills are better but SF4 favors defense over offense unfortunately.
I agree, that had me rolling. Justin acted so arrogant and cocky the whole time until Daigo set his ass straight. It was so funny because Daigo just brushed him off like he was nothing. He probably played against better back in Japan.
@danielyeh I didnt say being cocky is a good thing, i said that just a style that some people take and is not necessarily all bad. I for one dont like cocky people, but I respect their style
Does anybody know if Rufus is Justin's main now? Or was he just the character that he trained with for the gamestop tourney? I also acknowledge that this is probably a stupid question, but whatever. An answer would be appreciated if anybody knows.
sorry but i´m not versed in that SF4 slang and i live in germany...what are FAs and footsies? and i have a small clue about what mind games are...someone explain to me plz?
i played in a few smaller tournaments with him, and i don't remember him being showy in any way. he was always pretty chill. this appears to be a bit of a different justin. maybe he is trying to draw attention to earn a sponsorship since sf4 is likely to draw more attention than any sf in the past.
Nothing wrong with a little bit of showmanship. It gets the crowd going. Also, maybe he isn't super serious like the other guys. So what. It's a game, you're supposed to have fun.
Poongko's 8 hit and 6 hit combo in the 5th round were ridiculous. Good Job Poongko. Justin is an asshole though, that's why Daigo tore into that ass. lol
@MisterHaterAlert poongko plays risky because he knows he can. if he threw so much "bullshit" shoryu, he shouldve lost if justin knew how to punish better
Still we have the word "humble" so it shouldnt make a difference. I mean I live in Canada and when I win a match I dont gloat. Justin doesnt understand the term mutual respect which is why he will never beat Daigo.
I don't understand this JWong hate. It's closer to a highschool where it's cool to hate on one kid and everybody gets their rocks off. Have you guys ever seen him in interviews? He's actually polite. Have you seen celebrations at the SBO's? wtf is this.
Is kinga weird, justin beat poongko while justing had trouble beating daigo. nd poongko stood a chance against daigo. is jus kinda weird. seems like justing was too too scareddd to rub his face due to the last time what happened lol and this time his ass gets kicked again but i dnt no what happen when he faced daigo (justin) i bet he was shaking and his feet was sweating and the boom he didnt do it once lol
there is no doubt that justin wong is one of the world's best players. but he really needs an attitude adjustment. He shows off way too much, and i am glad that daigo destroyed him 4-0. maybe he will be less showy in the future and will actually show some respect.
I wonder why Daigo and even Vega Curry eliminated him from the Japanese nationals. Even Valle beat him in 3s. And he's not even at the level of American ST players anymore. He's a top player at 4, but he's not the best. Mago is probably the best in the world right now.
its part of the ego culture and has nothing to do with competitive gaming. just because you are a pro gamer it doesnt mean you have such an attitude. people that show off like that have a lot of pride in their abilities, and that is simply not good. the more pride you have, the harder it is to get up from a fall.
since when is it disrespectful to raise your arms in cheer after winning? also, it's not really conclusive whether he refused a handshake... unless you were at the event following him around.
i watched all the fights he had at this tournement and he showboated in each one except when he was 4-0'ed by Diago lol he was so quiet after that match and during it.
Cool matches. Lots of awesomeness to behold.
Those combos Poongko pulls off in round 5... Jesus.
god damn poongko's 3rd win was ridiculous. Insane combos.
6.41 Is it possible to do a counter-shoryuken at this point?
That's getting crowd into it, which is important.
For me, it's more of how he walks away from the player and will shake the hands of the crowd before his opponent, which happens when he defeats Iyo.
Poongko's execution is top notch.
@kudopark how is unsportsmanlike conduct to celebrate with fans or get excited about winning?
Justin picked rufus cus he looks like him lol
wow where did this Poongko kid come from!? Its like he just magically appeared! I never heard of him until street fighter 4
Poongko was a KOF champion in Korea.
@330432 Justin is of American National. His race is Asian. So they're not wrong when they chant USA, because he is american.
Poongko's like a spear while Daigo's like a spear and a shield
.
i gotta agree wit u on that these fan boys just love the japanese even though they arent supporting their scene its pretty sad though
I love Poongko's aggressive Ryu
Was 2:03 a missed opportunity ultra for Poo?
im pretty sure it was 360, they had the systems behind the tvs, i didnt get a good look back there tho
Poongko is much more technical than Justin but he is a high-risk taker.
in korea poongko doesn't have alot of players with great defense, he typically runs through them. Daigo plays the best defensive thinkers in the entire game, every day in japan. Justin's main thing that makes him great imo IS his defense. Daigo beat Justin quite a bit easier, by being able to easily out think his defense (and ryu's anti air > rufus). your right thumbs up

Where are the United Kingdom tournament players?
I agree, that had me rolling. Justin acted so arrogant and cocky the whole time until Daigo set his ass straight. It was so funny because Daigo just brushed him off like he was nothing. He probably played against better back in Japan.
He didn't yell in Daigo face.
link please??
dude. poongko embarrassed justin in the 5th round. domination!
and then justin went on to get embarrassed by daigo in the finals. 4-0
hahaha justin always has hella funny dances when he wins.
@AmazeKing because Justin Wong is american?
Poongko played an excellent game. Justin Wong and his crowd were pathetic as usual. Luckily Daigo took care of him 4-0 in the final.
im not sure if ur talking about this vid cuz daigos not in it but justin baits the sht out of those srks for most of the match
That's how we do SFIV in America. Just check out the Sinsation Grand Finals between Joe and Gootecks.
After this match Poong might have thought Justin's name was USA.
Hows that a world tournament if no one from South America or Europe got invite?
I agree, it's funny to see how smug he his when Diago hands him his ass 4 rounds w/o a loss.
USA! USA! USA! Props to Poongko though. One of the most exciting players to watch.
@danielyeh I didnt say being cocky is a good thing, i said that just a style that some people take and is not necessarily all bad. I for one dont like cocky people, but I respect their style
and no he doesnt shake his hand in this video.. but in another video he goes back and shakes his hand
Does anybody know if Rufus is Justin's main now? Or was he just the character that he trained with for the gamestop tourney? I also acknowledge that this is probably a stupid question, but whatever. An answer would be appreciated if anybody knows.
Sometimes.
sorry but i´m not versed in that SF4 slang and i live in germany...what are FAs and footsies?
and i have a small clue about what mind games are...someone explain to me plz?
Arcade stick Tournament edition from Madcatz
i played in a few smaller tournaments with him, and i don't remember him being showy in any way. he was always pretty chill. this appears to be a bit of a different justin. maybe he is trying to draw attention to earn a sponsorship since sf4 is likely to draw more attention than any sf in the past.

a handshake would be nice after such a close game
show some respect justin
They all shook hands before and afterward. Justin can be a cocky ass but he is a good sportsman.
Poongko's 8 hit and 6 hit combo in the 5th round were ridiculous. Good Job Poongko. Justin is an asshole though, that's why Daigo tore into that ass. lol
there both beastly for him to be korean champ. daigo is just more careful and takes less risk. not once did he do a uppercut and missed.
didn't even acknowledge his opponent after he won...seems so unsportsmanlike
Justin Wong is my hero.
4:50 was fucken awesome, Poonkgo is so much fun to watch, very agressive Ryu.
I just don't like people disrespecting and having NO class for their opponents.
@NGMarvlous What are you talking about, I saw the tournament and I didint see pongko ever do anything cocky, what the heck are you tlking about??
Tony and daisuke, why you hating for
why does everyone hate justin wong?
HE'S AMAAAZZZIINNG!!!!
he has a sick ryu
@MisterHaterAlert poongko plays risky because he knows he can. if he threw so much "bullshit" shoryu, he shouldve lost if justin knew how to punish better
Rather be a nerd with common sense then someone who doesn't know the showmanship behind these things.
@Turkagga HA! You wish.
No I would exploit his weaknesses drastically and see what the outcome would be.
However im quite confident that he would destroy you instead.
AGREED !
Justin: Praise the LOOORD!!
far out, poongko rips out combos that most players would stress over in the hard trials like they're nothing haha, insanity
american never did USA call in Daigo vs Justin match.maybe it's too oneside or they are Daigo fans.
haha The announcer messed him up, Poongko thought he was going to ex back due the his loud mouth.
I was making a point and whats the subject anyways cuz I dont remember changing it
justin is just having fun lol
Poongko made mistakes which J Wong punished, which is why he deserved to lose.
lol i meant iyo didn't assrape everyone cuz he lost to wong
Still we have the word "humble" so it shouldnt make a difference. I mean I live in Canada and when I win a match I dont gloat. Justin doesnt understand the term mutual respect which is why he will never beat Daigo.

its shook.. a dumb typo on my part
how so? hes a nice guy
If you're so great why weren't you there? -_-
LETS GO JUSTIN!
Is kinga weird, justin beat poongko while justing had trouble beating daigo. nd poongko stood a chance against daigo. is jus kinda weird. seems like justing was too too scareddd to rub his face due to the last time what happened lol and this time his ass gets kicked again but i dnt no what happen when he faced daigo (justin) i bet he was shaking and his feet was sweating and the boom he didnt do it once lol

cuz they like daigo so much for some reason
Yes but almost everyone have similarities too such as manners...
JUSTIN WOOOOO
I wonder why Daigo and even Vega Curry eliminated him from the Japanese nationals. Even Valle beat him in 3s. And he's not even at the level of American ST players anymore. He's a top player at 4, but he's not the best. Mago is probably the best in the world right now.

Only If I vs Justin, i show him what a real victory dance looks like!
banana time
oh ok, I never followed KOF so it doesn't surprise me. He's good tho.
yeah tbh i like his flashy style better than daigo's.
poongko is more skilled at pulling off combo than daigo imo. but daigo is just a smarter player
its justins homecourt, he does whatever wants
since when is it disrespectful to raise your arms in cheer after winning?
also, it's not really conclusive whether he refused a handshake... unless you were at the event following him around.
Poongko just needs to slow up his game a little bit. And work on punishing....
However his Ryu IS good yo!
Poongko's got some nice execution skills, good match.
that EX air tatsu to bait justin at the end of round 1 was epic!
Yeah when he focus cancelled the kick after the first ex messiah he could've shoryukened him.
Poongko should go with Seth hes opponents would be more surprised.
i watched all the fights he had at this tournement and he showboated in each one except when he was 4-0'ed by Diago lol he was so quiet after that match and during it.
Sure in a set of 50 matches. Maybe once. He's not unbeatable, but he's the best. You might get lucky.
anyone find it funny: fat american character vs. stoic asian character, lol they each picked the stereotypes of their respective regions
what is with these comments.. he puts his hands in the air like rufus does in the combo.. whats wrong with that?
