May I suggest you watch the video on Yackandandah, if you enjoyed Beechworth? Yackandandah is smaller, just as pretty but with that true country town atmosphere(one of my favourite towns).

Great town, gets very busy at times! Weekdays are the best times. Stunning N.E. scenery!
Morning James!
Beechworth is incredibly busy with many tourists! The tourist buses were in procession on the day we visited, at 9.30 in the morning.
It is always best to visit the back streets and a little further out of the main township area, to truly discover the town and its people.

Thank you for your walk around Beechworth it holds many memories for me. It is a beautiful place. The small chapel in the grounds of Mayday Hill is where Frankie J Holden was married.

Beechworth is lovely, although it is now full of tourists and appears to cater to the tourist trade. An economic bonus, I guess, but may possibly make it difficult for residents to go about their daily business. Perhaps not.

Ned Kelly was also held in an old jail under the Beechworth Courthouse...i had a look with the care taker many years ago and it was unchanged from when Kelly was young !

How fascinating that you had the chance to tour the Beechworth Courthouse. It is interesting and good to know, that many of these buildings remain unchanged. 'Progress' is not always a positive thing and the keeping of our historical buildings is important, I think.
