You should update this video because I've just viewed the 2023 wonder, and I couldn't believe how they have improved their interior! This is the reason I never looked at the wonder because it looked cheap. They have also enhanced weatherization too.
Great video and comparison of the two models. We looked at and test drove a Wonder RL and Unity MB last weekend at a dealer and just ordered the Wonder RTB. The deciding factors for me were the garage storage for our e-bikes and golf clubs and the Wonder RL had a 1824 lb. OCCC vs. 1450 lb. OCCC on the Unity MB. I have a MB E250 diesel car and thought I would want the Unity since I'm a MB fan, but thought the Wonder had much better acceleration, less engine noise and drove more like an SUV. I liked the ride of the Unity and the larger cab area vs. the Wonder. My salesperson at Van City told me there is a good chance they'll have the auto levelers as an option on the Wonder RTB in 2022, and also said they may be switching the 3 way refrigerator to a compressor fridge on the 2023 models.
So appreciate your thoughtful, methodic comparison, one question I had was the additional option of having more sleeping space. I have a grandchildren and the front forward sleeping in the Unity may be the deal breaker for me...allowing for at least one child to comfortably sleep over with the inflatable air mattress in the "front" room.
I’m not yet an owner of either, but I have toured and analyzed both. For reasons of cost differential, and a preference for some of the Wonder floor plans (twin rear bed model) storage options and all-wheel drive, I would choose the Wonder. Having said that, the Unity features I would miss are heated seats and adaptive cruise control (although my wife never uses it). As far as the lack of a chassis power shut-off, I always use a trickle charger anyway, which I think is a better solution in either case (better long-term battery health).
One difference that is not explained is why the two RL models have different layouts with regard to the large windows in the RL. In the Unity, they face towards the driver's side and in the Wonder, they face the passenger side. If you do camp in RV parks regularly, the Unity windows will usually face the sewer, water and power hookups (and usually a lesser view), while the Wonder windows face the camp site. Plus, even when boon docking, I would expect that the passenger side would have the better view since people usually like to have their outdoor seating areas facing the better view. Could be a big deal to some and I can find no explanation why the RL windows face different directions.
I like the Unity RL view but didn’t think about the view when in RV park… hmmm definitely something to consider now… but for some reason Wonder RL rear view just doesn’t seem to look right to me… 😞
Awesome video regarding the comparison of both lines. I have a Wonder RL coming in a few month's, the 178 wheel base on the Wonder provides a smoother ride than Unity from what Mike and Jennifer stated as they owned a Unity before purchasing the 2021 Wonder Twin Bed, the Wonder drives better. LEISURE (Dean) also points out this in their videos. ALSO, the Ford does have rain sensors for windshield wipers, this is covered in the Fords chassis brochure... Thanks for the weekly updates and information.
Great, thanks for that info. I definitely want to confirm that LTV left the rain sensing wipers, as all info is from their website and they leave it off there, but add it to the Unity.
We purchased a new 2017 Wonder 24MB. We live in FL. We took it for a 40 day trip out west 3 days after purchase. We drove 10,000 miles. I drove most of the trip at 63 MPH and averaged 19.5 MPG. We have taken it on many summer trips over the past 3 years and now we have around 35,000 miles. Because it is a diesel I can't speak to the gas version but we have the propane gen set and liked that as well. We drove all of the Rockies into Canada and all of the pacific coast down from Canada to Southern California on our inaugural trip and it was fantastic to drive in the mountains and flatlands. We had a Zuma gas scooter on a rack on the rear of the coach for the trip. What we like- the light interior color. We love the full Queen bed. We love the way it drove and the upgraded leather seats that LTV installed over the standard Ford fab. We did not want a slider so the Unity was not for us. OK, what have we had issues with. The awning is not very robust. We have replaced our macerator x2; we no longer have one because I find gravity always work. We did experience a recall on our DEF system. When researching this issue I found out if you remove the DEF system you will get another 5 MPG. We did not remove it but when it was not working it did average around 25 MPG. One key point the reviewer did not mention- The Ford does not have much room between the front seats. The Mercedes has way more room between the seats. It makes a big difference when the passenger wants to get up and go into the living space during travel. We actually prefer the Wonder's clean inside feel on the 2017. Very euro looking. They did away with it in 2019 I believe, but am certain it is gone in late models. I love love love how it drives. Had a Minnie Winnie for 13 years prior and the upgraded fuel and drive experience it out of this world.
One thing to consider when you are still under the chassis warranty is the distance to a Ford service center and a Mercedes service center. We have both in town so it was not a n issue for us. We decided on the Wonder Front Twin Bed because of the open floor plan, tank sizes, and the storage. Not much was mentioned of the Wonder FTB, but other Leisure owners who looked at out floor plan liked it much better than theirs - the Unity does not have a Front Twin Bed floorplan.
Things that should have been standard in the Unity. TPMS System, Induction Stove, Heated Steering wheel, Air Cooled Seats. Also a front & rear camera which records & plays while driving on the rear view mirror. Now these items would be the cherry on top 🍒.
Hi Brandon, I enjoy watching your channel. The 2021+ Transit has additional advantages that were not mentioned in your comparison. • 3.5L EcoBoost engine with 310hp / 400 lb-ft mated to a 10 speed transmission Gasoline is on every corner and approximately .60 less per gallon compared to diesel • FordPass enables mobile connectivity to remotely Lock, Start and monitor the vehicle • Ford Co-Pilot360 provides Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Assist with Auto Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping, Auto High-Beam Headlamps and Automatic Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers • The Headlights are HID and are automatically activated when the wipers come on • The GVWR is significantly higher on Transit
F 3.5 eco booo engine has intake manifold problem that ford admitted it. Mercedes v6 diesel have tons of emissions issues that even their own tech couldn't fix it. Alabama union labor Mercedes put that thing together so as Ford union crybabies. What would anyone expect? Vn looking RV tho with rotten engines.
A great comparison. The all wheel drive is a factor in my decision, but so is the gas mileage. I'll have to figure out the reality of a gas vs. diesel cost per mile. Both are great rvs.
As you do a lot of boondocking I’m assuming you have solar. I was wondering if the 200w is sufficient? We typically stay out 3-7 days. Trying to decide whether to order the 400w or just go with the 200
We have 400 watts of the flex and it is fine. Leisure's new rigid panel is going to be much better, so I would go all in with 400 if you really think you are going to do a lot of boon docking. If you have the flex panels for your option right now, I'd actually delete that option and go with an aftermarket install of rigid panels, a better solar controller and look at upgrading to Lithium as well. You will save money on the solar by doing it third party and get better results. Hope this helps.
You all prolly dont give a damn but does anyone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me
@Toby Collin thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Neither are rated for cold weather. They are what you call a 3 seasons coach. They can be used in freezing winter, but you must winterize the water lines and such. Just can’t use plumbing while you camp.
Unity has diesel and def system which means extra cost for servicing and repairs. Gas engine you won’t have any except basic maintenance. I drive a truck with the def system so I know. But I am curious, have you had any issues with yours and have you had to take the dpf filter out for cleaning?
I enjoyed this video. Great job. One thing I may have missed is the cargo carrying capacities of both. I thought the Transit had more, but could be wrong.
Great video. I love my Unity. But I had a small problem while on the road. Couldn’t find any garage that would repairs a Mercedes. So wondering why this wasn’t covered into the video? When something going wrong on the road , Acces to the service the Pro and con Merci
Us being FXers, thought I'd share this. Not sure if you ordered the optional front table; but I ended up comandeering the front closet; Dawn took the tiny one next to the fridge (with the optional table/post stored inside it). But she does have more overhead storage than me (above the rear lounge). So we're calling it even. I scored points with her today when I moved the table in my front closet. Table one the rt side wall (with the snap to hold it in place) and the post on the rear wall. Doesn't hinder with my stuff. Leaving Tuesday for northern MN, Canada and back home through MI (I think that's the plan). Anyway; thought I'd share. Happy Trails!
I watched and listened to your comparison and I did not hear your opinion on which can tow the most weight! I want to get the right floor plan to add pulling my 2 door jeep. I currently have a B class Coachman with a 3.5 l eco boost. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
You will want to get the Unity. Can tow about 4,200 pounds safely. More if your weight in your coach is minimal, but 4,200 is a good number. Wonder is a bit less due to construction of house
So helpful !!!! thank you so very much :) Still have not decided which one I want... stabalizer is very important but so is the tire pressure.... Lots to think about... but the toilet in the Wonder has more leg room ...important if you have a big man :)
Brandon, I enjoyed this video. Your comparisons brought to light many differences. My take from watching is your definitely a MB kind of a guy. I don't think you truly weighed in on the high cost to operate and maintain a MB vs a Ford.. You brushed over this very important aspect . You state you could have the oil changed at other facilities but remember this could void the warranty in addition the higher cost of other MB parts and repairs. There were several comparisons that stood out. The tire pressure monitoring system would be one important safety must have instead of a heated passenger seat. A $19.95 electric heating pad would have taken care of that deal breaker. But anyway, I do appreciate your comparisons. It got the ball rolling for more in depth thinking... 😊 I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Thanks for watching. I am a MB man for sure, and the higher cost is worth it to me for the experience. I’ve heard from several owners they do it themselves or at others using the MB required parts. Not sure if that actually does void warranty, but hope not. I’m fortunate that I have an Mb dealer 5 minutes from us, so I can take it there. Glad you enjoyed it!
We just ordered a 2022 Unity. Our salesmen said we could plan on taking delivery by March, next year. We hope he is correct. Trying to simplify our travel. Currently own 2016 Airstream Classic. Little scary! Have never been in a Unity. Thanks for video.
@@JohnSeitz I definitely think you can get a better deal with one of the big brands such as winnebago or tiffin. LTV only make so many per year and like Harley Davidson, people are passionate about the brand and will pay.
Thanks for posting this informative video. Does the Unity come with a RV navigation system? Do you need one or can you pretty much drive it wherever a car can go, bridges, tunnels etc? Thank you.
The Unity is slightly under 11 feet, so there are some places that might have low overpasses. But generally you will be fine. The nav in the MB is not RV, but you can easily get a RVLife subscription and their nav in the app is RV specific for your weight and height.
I'm looking for a travel van but I don't want it to look like a travel van. I could park my van in my home driveway if it looked like a van but, the HOA will not allow it if it looks like a travel van. When will the manufactures start making stealth travel vans for those of us living in American Suburbia?
There are many that I think you could get away with at your HOA. A class B is a van the typical width and length of a passenger or cargo van, whereas mine is a class C and is longer and wider. Look at a Travato.
I'm not sure if they will ever follow through with the 4x4 Unity idea or not, but I don't think these chassis support the 4x4. I think it's a smaller chassis that would have to be a class b maybe?
Overall, not to bad of a comparison or review - you were pushing is a little on the auto wipers and the TPMS tire sensors (really good after-market less than $200 and includes to toad) BUT the real thing to consider for the extra $20,000 is the maintenance and upkeep of the units. Today there are 3,011 Ford dealers in the US and only 368 Mercedes dealers. As you pointed out the Mercedes cost and arm and a leg to maintain and repair. On the other hand. the Wonder, with the Ford, has 10 times the repair and service centers plus you can get Ford or Ford OEM type replacement parts at AutoZone - Advance Auto Parts, or even Amazon. Is the snob appeal of owning a Mercedes really worth over $30,000 dollars over say a ten-year period?
If you are fortunate as I am to have an Mb dealer 5 minutes away, not that big of deal. But if you live in places with no dealership, could be a challenge. After sitting in both, I really chose the Unity because of the roominess and the features of the MB, not because of the brand. But I was comparing to the old Ford chassis when I purchased.
The thing that hangs me up is the OCCC of the RV's. We are really looking at the WLR. Why don't they publish the base OCCC without any options. Then list the weight penalty for each option. It is really just simple addition and subtraction. They really do seem to keep the numbers close to their chests. In addition to that they do not list manufacturer and model of the standard and optional equipment. They could list and just add "can change without notice" to give them freedom to be flexible.
Agree about the OCCC not available on website. I had to contact them to get it for mine. As far as third parties, it’s basically the usual suspects, Dometic, Furrion, Equalizer etc
I've only been looking and dreaming of an LTV. As well as I can determine, another difference in the Unity and Wonder is that only the Unity can support more than two passengers from a seatbelt and sleeping arrangement. Is that correct from your experience/knowledge. I'd also like to understand if there are differences in the OCCC between the two models. I know they vary between models and upgrades, but in general, is there a big difference between the models and the various floor plans given all other variables are the same? Do you know of any collective information that can be found and shared?
Yes, should have added that as several of the unity models have passenger seatbelts. I'm a big proponent of no one going with us, lol, so totally whiffed on that.
Hello. Great useful videos, thanks. As a photo guy, I would like to offer an unsolicited tip on the viewing angle. First I love the lighting, colour tones and richness of your videos and the sound quality is really good. One minor tweak my ocd is kicking in to say, is if you bring your camera up a little higher (vertically, just a bit), while still showing the awesome background), you won't be looking down the barrel of a gun as much and lessen the slight distortion caused from low angles.
No worries, thanks. The camera is on a standing desk and is at different heights all of the time, so no telling what angle it will be from video to video.
So far from reports the Wonder with the Ford gets 12-13 mpg. My Unity with the Mercedes gets 17 on the highway. I'm sure the Ford will go up a bit once engines are broken in more, but they are so new that's the reports owners are giving right now.
perhaps you are in canada ? i think there are slightly different specs for canadian models....i have a 2020 unity RL in the lower 48, and do not have built in TMPS
Loved your video, at 6’ 2” how do you fit on the bed in the model your chose? Dealing with a 6’ 2” man myself was thinking the twin setup was they only choice for us. Rethinking...
I have the FX which has a near king size bed and that and the MB is the only real choice if a tall person wants a normal size bed. The TB beds are not made for height, so avoid that as well as the RL. The TB and RL were up for consideration until we walked in and experienced the size of the beds. At the end of the day, the FX is really perfect for many things.
@@Pagosa quite sad. I know they don’t come on the market very often. There is a 2019 for sale in organizing. But the 2023 I think it’s a Wonder with the rear lounge, I just saw the video for that last night. That looks pretty good.
I have read reviews saying that the unity is noisier and rides rougher than the wonder. Also says finding shops that will work on these are few and far between for both!! Most Ford dealers will not work on the wonder - not even change the oil !! What is up with that?! Mercedes dealers won't work on the unity either. This is nuts if they make the chassis then they should work on them!
The Unity drives like a dream and virtually noise free. My local MB does all the service on it, so not sure where you are getting your info, but these are much easier to maintain than any other RV, in my estimation.
Ford DEFINITELY has ESC and it’s Standard. The Ford also has adaptive cruise control on the 2021 chassis and it’s standard. Rain sensing wiper, Ford has it as well and guess what, it’s standard. Longer wheelbase makes a HUGE difference in the ride quality which is why you don’t hear as many people complaining about the ride quality of the Ford vs. the Unity. It’s very common to upgrade the suspension on a Unity to make it ride better. You need to be comparing the Ford website to the Mercedes website. Disappointed you missed so many things.
Plus so many report doing suspension mods on the MB and hardly any report touching the suspension on a Transit. So those suspension up grades add $$$ to the first cost of the Unity. I think I am better versed on the Transit but that makes sense cause its what I am buying. And the 2021 Transit will fill the gaps technologically between the chassis. Now I will take gas any day over diesel :)
think we talked on Facebook. I just took the info from the LTV website as they option their chassis' and they put "Adaptive Cruise Control" on the Unity Specs and "Cruise Control" for the Wonder specs. They add ESC on Unity Specs and do not for the Wonder specs, so not sure if these are left out by mistake by LTV web folks, or if the Wonder actually does not have these.
@@smileyel-abd9984 i added sumo springs to my 2020 unity RL. still have some body roll, but its much improved. plug and play, in that they are a jounce stop replacement. worth the cost.
Hello my friend, I like the way you did this it is excellent. The only thing I would suggest never tell people you keep cash in your safe especially in Texas. Stay thirsty my friend
Great video however I didn't hear you mention that if you wanted a slide out and more room, you had to go with a Unity. I know some people don't want to deal with the slide and the added weight but for me it's a no brainer. I'm think of downsizing from a 43' pusher so the more room the better.
True! We were gonna do a 43 footer then found LTV. You might like our story about why we chose LTV leisurevans.com/blog/the-bigger-the-better-not-necessarily/
What is the difference in cargo carrying compacity? The knock on the Mercedes is always the ccc. That is the major reason to not get a Mercedes in my opinion.
@@Pagosa I'm having a hard time finding that information about either one. The best I can tell the wonder is just over 1700 pounds and the unity is just over 1100. But I can't find the information on the LTV site. We are having a hard time deciding between the unity, wonder. And airstream atlas. The occc may be the determining factor
Just found my notes for my tow vehicle vid. My Unity curb weight is 9,478 and GVWR is 11,030 so 1,552 OCCC. The Airstream would be very similar as it’s the same chassis. I’ll try and get exact specs on the Wonder from LTV
We ordered the Unity RL...one reason (of several to be fair) that was important to us was the desire to have auto leveling and from our investigations adding auto leveling as an aftermarket solution to a Wonder RL configuration is not possible (and we really wanted the RL config....Other Wonder configurations adding it is feasible apparently) Great channel by the way! Thanks.
Actually aftermarket auto leveling system is possible on the Wonder, see ua-cam.com/video/w2yMnWMLECk/v-deo.html. And I'm pretty sure the equalizer system that the Wendlands installed is the same product/supplier that LTV use on the Unity.
@@richdv6800 thanks Rich - I did see that video but I was also under the impression that there was an interference issue with one of the tanks specific on the RL config....they don’t have the RL as I recall and this was able to get the system fitted....I could be totally off the mark on this too....
@@Pagosa Only the RTB configuration on the Wonder accommodates levelers. Swap the fridge for a compressor unit for less money than levelers, lose some fire risk and obviate the need for levelers.
Hello ? Why is it your third how often did you have to replace them. Only asking because prices r steep if I get one it would need to last me the rest of my life
Wish they had the sprinter in 4wd or awd in the slightly bigger size. The current offering of sprinter’s in 4x4 styling is just not my style at all. I just would like if they don’t try to make them all “sport” style
You left off one of the most important things to compare. What are the OCCC weights between the two? I would suspect the Unity will have the least amount of on-board carrying capacity! This is something the RV companies never talk about. It is a travesity that Mercedes didn't up the horsepower on the new chassis!
I know the OCCC of my unity which is about 1552 pounds if I remember. The new Ford chassis is prob in that neighborhood, but couldn't find the info anywhere.
@@Pagosa 1552 is good. Especially since you said you pack light! It will be hard to find the OCCC on the Wonder unless you actually look on the inside of the door for each model. It is a hidden spec that the RV companies don't like to list.
I toured a Wonder RL a few days ago and took a pic of the OCCC sticker. As optioned, the Wonder RL is rated at 2,143, lbs which is excellent! Too bad it was already sold.
Hi I am 28 and I live in the UK; I have been driving for 6 years and I have never even come close to seeing £20k in my life, how would I go about making £127k to buy my first Unity?
Great job you always do! Dumb question: Is there any talk of including a slide? I realize weight is a factor, but I think it could be a great addition. Thanks so much!
Great video! Thank you! I wonder if you and your followers can comment on the difference in air conditioning?? I see the Wonder a/c is not ducted but the a/c in the Unity is. I have a pull type trailer now and can’t sleep with the A/C on, it is too noisy. Can anyone comment on their experience with the different a/c?? Thanks in advance!
My only experience is with mine, and even ducted it's much louder than a home AC. Many Wonders have the AC near the rear of the coach where the beds are, so I would imagine it would be quite noisy
I really enjoy your videos and candid thoughts on the Pros & Cons of Options, Comparisons etc. My wife and I are looking at a 25'ish RV Sprinter style Van for the near future. I am in overdrive in the amount of Videos out there! Loving the LTV Unity FX van for our needs and the Propane Generator option with "Auto Gen" because like you, we have pets and hope we don't rely on it too much. My question to you is the CUSTOMER SERVICE on warranty items with LTVans that I heard a few others mention. Any issues on your end with that. Its a huge investment for us and others and its all about Customer Service and the company backing their product. Thank u sir again for your informative videos. Abe B., Maryland
So glad you get some value from the videos! LTV customer service is stellar and I’ve only had one warranty issue and one recall issue and both were handled with great care. Highly advise an LTV not just for the RV itself, but for the community. The closest thing I can think of is like a Harley community, very brand loyal and very helpful in every regard.
Great comparison video, but your comparison on the fuel consumption is misleading - yes more MPG for Unity but based on overall cost the Wonder wins due to the cost difference between fuel types! Using today's fuel cost: Wonder: 25 gal tank x 12 mpg = 300 miles; 25 gal x $2.90/gal = $72.50 / 300 miles = $4.14 cost per mile. Unity: 24.5 gal tank x 17 mpg = 416.5 miles; 24.5 gal tank x $3.55 = $86.97 / 416.5 miles = $4.79 cost per mile. So, the difference in cost between unleaded and diesel makes the Ford unleaded the better performer.
It’s going to be where you live. Diesel in Dallas is 2.80 gallon right now. But in some cases where diesel is higher that would be the case. But if time is money and you get more miles per tank, then diesel is the clear winner 😃
I don’t on either one of these vehicles lol I was thinking about getting Unity way before I watch this video me watching this video lol I just reassured me that I was making the right decision no wonder was never on my radar as an option to and now that it is I know I don’t want it
What matters is driveability....diesel v gas driving in cities, in other words driving it as a car as well as a motor home. You should get together with your friends and have that discussion. THAT is the deal maker for me!
I certainly want to make that video. Love to step inside an Airstream so I can have some first person experience. I was able to tour several Wonders, so I had a good feel for them
20 grand pays for an air ride suspension, and a real power system. But let’s face it, most will choose a floor plan and with how busy the industry is you’ll go with the chassis they can get you.
You miss one glaring differences; one uses gasoline and one uses diesel. Your Unity uses diesel. Question - Do you smell the diesel gas fume while driving and during camping?
The diesel will definitely last longer than the gas as long as you don't get a lemon, but most people don't drive these daily, so not sure what advantage that is.
Wow, are you comparing the two and not telling us about the engine size, power and torque and what kind of fuel the two takes. I think that is important. I laugh at people when many don’t think the engine is important, remember the MOTOR in motorhomes is what gets you to your destination.
At the time of that video, they both had Diesel engines that were comparable. Now it's changed, so take a look at this video for more explanation on the differences in power train - ua-cam.com/video/eJQ5ESyWWXM/v-deo.html
One word.. Service, Service, Service. Try finding a MB dealer when they go belly up. Then you wait 2 weeks to get it back... Why the Wonder wins hands down...
Finally, thank you for the comparison. Been trying to find a video on this for a while.
great, glad it helped!
You should update this video because I've just viewed the 2023 wonder, and I couldn't believe how they have improved their interior! This is the reason I never looked at the wonder because it looked cheap. They have also enhanced weatherization too.
Check out my channel, have done several updates on the Wonder. Thanks for watching
thanks for that info!
Very fortunate to get to see both much less drive! Many are envious I’m sure. Love that huge garage for sure
Greg Masters, what dealer did you go to see both of them?
So appreciate your thoughtful, methodic comparison, one question I had was the additional option of having more sleeping space. I have a grandchildren and the front forward sleeping in the Unity may be the deal breaker for me...allowing for at least one child to comfortably sleep over with the inflatable air mattress in the "front" room.
There are a few floor plans that offer some additional sleeping. The Corner Bed for sure.
@@Pagosa @Jacqueline Laughlin Wonder RL & TB offer sleeping with an inflatable air mattress for four
The Wonder has upped the game that it's more of a thought process of which one to go with for sure.
Yes, great point. I know this is a huge difference when it comest to RV Parks and looking at your campsite instead of the side of another RV
Lenght, breath, height and wheelbase of the unity and wonder please

Thank you, my headache has now stopped lol, I have trying to figure this out for a while, I'm more Informed now 👍
Glad it helped!
Brandon, nice review/comparison. FYI, the new Wonder actually does come with automatic rain sensor wipers.
Awesome, thanks for sharing. The LTV website doesn't indicate that. Just on the Unity.
Can confirm
Great comments! Sounds like the trip I’m planning as soon as Canada opens back up. Thanks for sharing
@@Pagosa Hope they open up this summer. We want to go to Alaska.
I decided on a wonder rear twin bed because I wanted the bike storage. I could be perfectly happy with either chassis.
That bike storage is very appealing.
That is true, but not all ford dealers can work on the transits, so keep that in mind as well.
Things that should have been standard in the Unity. TPMS System, Induction Stove, Heated Steering wheel, Air Cooled Seats.
Also a front & rear camera which records & plays while driving on the rear view mirror. Now these items would be the cherry on top 🍒.
That would be nice for sure
Hi Brandon, I enjoy watching your channel. The 2021+ Transit has additional advantages that were not mentioned in your comparison.
• 3.5L EcoBoost engine with 310hp / 400 lb-ft mated to a 10 speed transmission
Gasoline is on every corner and approximately .60 less per gallon compared to diesel
• FordPass enables mobile connectivity to remotely Lock, Start and monitor the vehicle
• Ford Co-Pilot360 provides Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Assist with Auto Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping, Auto High-Beam Headlamps and Automatic Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers
• The Headlights are HID and are automatically activated when the wipers come on
• The GVWR is significantly higher on Transit
Yes, The new gas is supposed to be great
F 3.5 eco booo engine has intake manifold problem that ford admitted it.
Economically, gas is the best option with Diesel in the $5 range. Not sure how long that will last, but the MPGs aren’t that far off
As you do a lot of boondocking I’m assuming you have solar.
Excellent comparative review! Thanks for the info! We fell in love with the Unity U24MB and now we're working toward buying the "RV of our dreams!"
That's great! You will love it!
Thanx for this information! I really find this informative as I am looking to purchase a Unity RL as my first RV.
That's great!
Approximate price of unity and wonder. Please (any model of unity and wonder)
Just jump over to leisurevans.com and all the info is there
Great video ! Thanks for taking the time to research this objectively
Glad it was helpful!
Wonderful comparison video. Loveee the Unity!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would like to know the differences between the insulation and which one is rated for cold weather use. I haven't seen that yet.
Neither are rated for cold weather. They are what you call a 3 seasons coach. They can be used in freezing winter, but you must winterize the water lines and such. Just can’t use plumbing while you camp.
Excellent video. You have made many great points. Thanks for the comparison.
Thanks for watching!
Unity has diesel and def system which means extra cost for servicing and repairs. Gas engine you won’t have any except basic maintenance. I drive a truck with the def system so I know. But I am curious, have you had any issues with yours and have you had to take the dpf filter out for cleaning?
We have had zero problems, knock on wood.
I enjoyed this video. Great job. One thing I may have missed is the cargo carrying capacities of both. I thought the Transit had more, but could be wrong.
Thanks for watching. Each floor plan and options chosen is a bit different, but my Unity FX has 1,502 OCCC
Great video.
I love my Unity. But I had a small problem while on the road. Couldn’t find any garage that would repairs a Mercedes.
So wondering why this wasn’t covered into the video? When something going wrong on the road , Acces to the service the Pro and con
Merci
Sorry to hear that, but the same thing will happen with the Ford. Not all dealerships are equipped to work on the Transit.
Janet’s got the front closet, so I’m destined to have the table in mine 😂. Have a safe trip!
I have a Unity CB on order and it is supposed to be built in August of this year.
Congrats!
A tire pressure monitoring system is way cheaper and easier to install than the levelers, so keep that in mind.
Do you have newer video on this topic because Ford now offer rain sensor for the front windshield? Thx
Not yet. Be sure to subscribe if you haven't already for updates.
Ford wonder find dealer to repair easier than Unity? Thanks.
Probably, but not all Ford dealers can service them.
Great job comparing these two choices. Articulate and knowledgeable.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Is either chassis, whether Mercedes or Ford, available with a gasoline ⛽ or a diesel
Mercedes is exclusively diesel and the Ford is exclusively gas 21 model year and later
We just ordered a 2022 Unity. Our salesmen said we could plan on taking delivery by March, next year. We hope he is correct. Trying to simplify our travel. Currently own 2016 Airstream Classic. Little scary! Have never been in a Unity. Thanks for video.
Congrats on the Unity. Which floorplan did you get?
@@Pagosa We ordered the Murphy bed model. Champagne paint. Went with Rift Interior.
Great video. Thank you so much for your sharing your expertise!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Any idea of any new options for the 2022 models?
Getting some info soon, so a video as soon as I get the info.
Just curious what real world prices are for the Wonder models. Especially pre-pandemic
Pre pandemic, you could see 7% off msrp. Now msrp or highest bidder
@@Pagosa gotcha thx good to know 7% not enough. Great RV no doubt.
@@JohnSeitz I definitely think you can get a better deal with one of the big brands such as winnebago or tiffin. LTV only make so many per year and like Harley Davidson, people are passionate about the brand and will pay.
Looking at both, using mine for every day use. Camping is the other option if it happens but not really in the picture.
ah, hope you get one someday. you will love it.
You mentioned the 2022 MB chassis... Do you know if that is the chassis that they will offer the 4x4 option with?
I'm not sure if they will ever follow through with the 4x4 Unity idea or not, but I don't think these chassis support the 4x4. I think it's a smaller chassis that would have to be a class b maybe?
@@Pagosa Thank you for the quick response! Another hope dashed against the rocks of wishful expectations. Hahaha!
Exactly the video I wanted👌🏾 I'm between unity and wonder, Murphy bed so this is perfect as a starting point
I just did two more videos on the subject, so be sure to browse my video library. Glad it helps.
Awesome video! Where could I go to look/see models? I’m in Utah. Thanks!
Finding wheels on the ground is very difficult. There is a 2 year backlog right now with Leisure Travel Vans, but wort the wait
Does the unity come with front wheel drive or rear wheel ??
It's rear wheel. The Wonder has an option for all wheel drive
What about resale? You can get some costs back at that time,
If you purchase new, you can resell at a profit right now from what I"m seeing
I just saw the Wonder has an AWD option in the ‘21 model.
yes, and they are gas engines now
I think it's good that they now are offering 4 color styles. I much prefer the Maple. Hope to get a 2022 UMB.
You will love the LTV, so hope you are able to get one as well.
Thanks for a comprehensive look at these coaches.👍🏼
You bet!
I have one question: witch vehicle gets better millage ?
So far from reports the Wonder with the Ford gets 12-13 mpg. My Unity with the Mercedes gets 17 on the highway. I'm sure the Ford will go up a bit once engines are broken in more, but they are so new that's the reports owners are giving right now.
Hi, i have a 2020 Unity TB and it is equipped with a TPMS. Take a look at page 300 of the Sprinter's manual. Thank you for your videos.
I download the latest Sprinter manual and there is no TPMS system listed.
perhaps you are in canada ? i think there are slightly different specs for canadian models....i have a 2020 unity RL in the lower 48, and do not have built in TMPS
Unfortunately we don't have TPMS. Not sure if this is a LTV thing or an MB cutaway chassis thing.
Yes I am Canadian and we have it...sorry about the confusion
@@jean-guymalboeuf2332 Very fortunate! It's the one thing I think is a must have.
@@Pagosa thank you, sitting watching your videos now, you do an awesome job!

@@Pagosa quite sad. I know they don’t come on the market very often. There is a 2019 for sale in organizing. But the 2023 I think it’s a Wonder with the rear lounge, I just saw the video for that last night. That looks pretty good.
You can add rain sensor and automatic headlights to the Ford Transit using OE parts.. I did this on my 2019 Transit..
good to know!
@@Pagosa Good news, thanks for the reply - there are always people out there who have an axe to grind.
@@Hogger280 many Ford VS MB out there and they all think theirs is best, lol
Our 2017 Wonder has all closed cabinets...no open shelves....and we get 18+ milage w/the diesel....that said, we'd love to upgrade to either model!
Great!
Good idea, but it could be a good test with how good the safe is, lol
Is there a difference in ground clearance?
That's a good question. If there is, probably not much
Wonder owner here - Benz ground clearance is indeed higher. I don’t know the exact specs but Unity rides higher.
@@zachhull its a little over 2 inches
Great video however I didn't hear you mention that if you wanted a slide out and more room, you had to go with a Unity. I know some people don't want to deal with the slide and the added weight but for me it's a no brainer. I'm think of downsizing from a 43' pusher so the more room the better.
True! We were gonna do a 43 footer then found LTV. You might like our story about why we chose LTV leisurevans.com/blog/the-bigger-the-better-not-necessarily/

You bet!
Two great choices however in our area ( a major metro) the waiting list is approaching 3 years from placing a deposit to delivery. Reality bites.
It's a perfect storm for delays for sure
The information I have for Canada is a two year wait.
What is the difference in cargo carrying compacity? The knock on the Mercedes is always the ccc. That is the major reason to not get a Mercedes in my opinion.
I believe the Unity is a bit over 1,400 pounds and the new Ford chassis is just under 1,500 pounds.
@@Pagosa awesome, thank you!
I think you are correct Todd. Not all Wonders have the room to add the levelers
@@Pagosa Only the RTB configuration on the Wonder accommodates levelers. Swap the fridge for a compressor unit for less money than levelers, lose some fire risk and obviate the need for levelers.
You should talk about their crappy engines and dealer's sorry service.
I would if I had experienced that, but just the opposite. Love the Sprinter and my dealer is fantastic. Assume you had a bad experience?
We have Unity 2016 cb and we like it that my third leisure
Nice!
Hello ? Why is it your third how often did you have to replace them. Only asking because prices r steep if I get one it would need to last me the rest of my life
Wish they had the sprinter in 4wd or awd in the slightly bigger size. The current offering of sprinter’s in 4x4 styling is just not my style at all. I just would like if they don’t try to make them all “sport” style
hopefully some day
You left off one of the most important things to compare.
@@Pagosa 2,143 lbs without the Intelligent AWD option.
Hi I am 28 and I live in the UK; I have been driving for 6 years and I have never even come close to seeing £20k in my life, how would I go about making £127k to buy my first Unity?
Well, that's a great question
Pharmaceuticals or politics
Looks like the Ford 2021 chassis has adaptive cruise control - thus the 2022 Wonder will now have that feature
Yes, knew it was coming, so glad it’s finally here
I guess either one would be an upgrade over my 1989 Chevy G20 van with a Fiesta conversion.
Might have a few more tech features for sure
Great job you always do! Dumb question: Is there any talk of including a slide? I realize weight is a factor, but I think it could be a great addition. Thanks so much!
So far, I think they will leave the Wonder as a non slide unit. We have a slide in our FX, and love it.
I dont like cruise control .... my leg forget what their supposed do if I had to stop all of a sudden
That's not a good thing
This is how LTV orders the chassises there are many options that are available.
👍
Auto Levelers can be added to Wonder.
I've heard it can be done on a few floor plans, but not all.
Great video, beautiful rvs
Thanks!
Not a big fan of the wonder floor plans unless they made a FX.:)
You never know
I really enjoy your videos and candid thoughts on the Pros & Cons of Options, Comparisons etc.
@@Pagosa Thank u! Much respect to u! Abe B. Retired Air Force
Thank you
You're welcome
@@Pagosa great video and great microphone! There's no guessing about what you are saying - very clear and a well done video!

What matters is driveability....diesel v gas driving in cities, in other words driving it as a car as well as a motor home. You should get together with your friends and have that discussion. THAT is the deal maker for me!
For sure!
I think that was a great video! How about a comparison of the LTV MB with the Airstream Atlas? Are you up to the challenge? :)
I certainly want to make that video. Love to step inside an Airstream so I can have some first person experience. I was able to tour several Wonders, so I had a good feel for them
Atlas is 100k more
20 grand pays for an air ride suspension, and a real power system. But let’s face it, most will choose a floor plan and with how busy the industry is you’ll go with the chassis they can get you.
Yep, get what you can at this point
You miss one glaring differences; one uses gasoline and one uses diesel. Your Unity uses diesel. Question - Do you smell the diesel gas fume while driving and during camping?
Hello. When this was filmed the Wonder was still a diesel. Transit switched to gas not too long ago. No smell at all.
@@Pagosa thanks
Wonder all the way. I’d never own a German car out of warranty. I’m not convinced the van chassis is any better.
The diesel will definitely last longer than the gas as long as you don't get a lemon, but most people don't drive these daily, so not sure what advantage that is.
Great idea!
Thanks!
Yep, good point
