When I first heard this song back in 2003 I actually thought it was a recently unreleased Beatles song that was sitting in the Vault, it took me a long time to figure out this was a Paul McCartney solo song.
He talked about it being a really Beatles kind of melody and style, especially that line "take me to that place", he said he could imagine him and John singing that line. And he used the Hofner bass. I think it's self aware about how Beatles of a song it is which is probably why the music video here has so much of the Beatles involved
I believe it's fully intentional. The song seems to be about John. The timing, the Beatle sound, the references in the video and those lines about being "alone again" and not finding his brave face fit perfectly. John and Paul had the habit of dropping those little hints when they were writing about/to each other. And Elvis Costello was the closest thing to a John personality among his solo collaborators. I think Paul wanted to tell us something without saying it in so many words.
I totally missed this song in '89. I was more than likely listening to different radio stations that weren't playing it. I first heard it in the early 2000s, in musak form, in a grocery store. I'm always hearing old gems in the grocery store. 🙄

Flowers in the dirt is Paul MCartney's best solo record because, besides this song, it has beautiful songs like "This one" and "Put it there". Although the record has been a great success, it is an absolutely undervalued record
@@DYNODRUM 👍 " Flowers in the dirt" represents a return to the Beatles. The sonorities of the songs, Paul's decision to play the Hoffner bass again and to play many Beatles songs on the tour ( I was lucky to see a concert) make this one the best Paul album.

When I first heard this bass line in '89, it caused me to go on a never ending search for a Hofner! Luckily, I finally got one 2 years ago! I can see where that bass inspired him to play a great bass line on this song!
I am lucky that in this generation, a kid like me knows about you and the Beatles unlike most of my friends! Truly a masterpiece! Never stop performing!!!!
LO AMO TANTO!
Sometimes I wonder how in the world did this song not make the Top 10? This is Paul McCartney for crying out loud!
Paul McCartney with the mullet in the 80’s. Flowers in the dirt such a classic album 🔥🔥🤘🏻
One of my favourite macca solo songs 🔥🔥
Das beste " Nach-Beatles "
Lied aller Zeiten.....
One of Paul’s best solo songs underrated 👍
Flowers in the dirt is Paul MCartney's best solo record because, besides this song, it has beautiful songs like "This one" and "Put it there". Although the record has been a great success, it is an absolutely undervalued record
Yes ,I agree . This Album is so highly produced. Used , to listen to it every night , before going to work the Horses at 5 .AM
@@DYNODRUM 👍 " Flowers in the dirt" represents a return to the Beatles. The sonorities of the songs, Paul's decision to play the Hoffner bass again and to play many Beatles songs on the tour ( I was lucky to see a concert) make this one the best Paul album.
Happy Birthday Sir Paul McCartney!!!! Long life to you and you Family...
This was the first Paul solo song I ever heard, good memories ❤🦄🦄🦄
I bought the cassette single when it came out
Loved this song so much since the day it came out!! Paul is awesome! 😍
30 years later..still is a Master Piece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The more time that passes, the more I relate to the collector in this video. Great song that should have hit the top ten in the US.
Totally agreed, sadly in 1989 people were flocking to superficial pop singers/groups like Milli Vanilli, Paula Abdul, New Kids on the Block as well as the hair bands like Guns 'N Roses and Bon Jovi, I guess Paul McCartney was no longer relevant to the pop crowd anymore.
@@Doobie1975 Definitely a great song that deserved a better commercial fate in the US. The changing marketplace definitely did not help.
I feel that My Brave Face was the last really big hit of McCartney's career. To me, it's the final time that he reached the level of his earlier Beatles and Wings classics. It has become another one of his ubiquitous tunes that's instantly recognizable anywhere.
I found this song finally after more than 20 years!!!!!! Wohooooooo, didn't know the name of this song.... Last time I have heard it was in 90's
Same here, I remember when it was first played in 1989...!
Sane here! Found it last year after over 20 years. Didn't know who the artist or song title was. Just remembered the melody lol
How can any 1 be happy and cheery all the time in these days

Sir Paul had the most tasteful mullet of the 1980's.
And today!
And 70s. There are so ugly-looking mullets, but Paul's one has always been so nice...
Hair is hair. Wear it how you like. It's a bit hair racist.
Yea Billy really did have a good mullet I mean Paul did shit I mean Billy
Love how Paul never forgets John and the other Beatles. They really were like brothers
This one of Paul's solo career best songs.
i play this song whenever i’m anxious or nervous about doing something, helps me find my brave face
Uno de sus mejores temas y de los más infravalordos
I love "Flowers in the dirt" record with all My soul, hearth and life ❤❤❤
I always loved how clean this song sounds, and how they mic'd and mixed the drums.
A Master Piece !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..........

A fan since 1963, I still LOVE your brave face as well as your brave wisdom and kind soul Paul.
One of the best from the Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney collaboration.
この曲好きです❣️😃🥰
何よりPaul McCartneyが大好きです‼️😍😚😘💘💖
僕も、この曲は大好きなんですよ!
Love Paul’s bass in this song. 🎶
This is actually a good song.
Excellent song, really should have been a bigger hit. Paul's the best!
1990年の日本公演は最高だった。

Omg this song just randomly appeared in my head for no reason. I remember this song and heard it alot back in the day. Love it. ❤
Nunca pensé que vería este vídeo en el canal oficial, thanks for the Lirycs.
The best songwriter the musical world has ever seen, and I like everybody....
I love this and his other chart run singles from the early 80's up until the mid 90s. Personally these were Pauls best songs
Such a brilliant song. It just oozes everything thats good about his music.
Sir Paul McCartney, please come to Oxnard Ca...
When I hear this, it ties my love of Andy Partridge and XTC to my love of Paul solo and with the Beatles.
a great song from the late 80's, reminds me of my time in liverpool back then.
The sound you make is muzak to my ears. You must have learned something all those years.
Love this song forever ✌🏽
Happy Birthday, Paul McCartney ❤
I can't stop singing and smiling with this song... Paul 4 ever
My brave, my brave, my brave face
I've been living in style,
Unaccustomed as I am
To the luxury life,
I've been hitting the town
And it didn't hit back
I've been doing the rounds
Unaccustomed as I am
To the time on my hands,
Now I don't have to tell anybody
When I'm going to get back
Ever since you went away
I've had this sentimental inclination
Not to change a single thing
As I pull the sheet back on the bed,
I want to go bury my head
In your pillow
Now that I'm alone again
I can't stop breaking down again
The simplest things set me off again
And take me to that place
Where I can't find my brave face,
Where I can't find my brave face,
My brave, my brave, my brave face
My brave face
I've been living a lie
Unaccustomed as I am
To the work of a housewife,
I've been breaking up
Dirty dishes & throwing them away
Ever since you left I have been trying too
Compose a baby will you please come home note
Meant for you
As I clear away another
Untouched TV dinner
From the table, I laid for 2
Now that I'm alone again
I can't stop breaking down again
The simplest things set me off again
And take me too that place
Where I can't find my brace face,
Where I can't find my brave face,
My brave, my brave, my brave face
My brave face
Patrick Stocks - Hello and thanks for the lyrics here...
You need a life m8🙄
@@wanderer1955 Oh, I'm sure it didn't take that long to type out the lyrics. Plus, it cleared up a few words for me. 🙂
@@billh.8515 Yeah words like "why" and "am" "I" "so" "lonely".🙄
@@wanderer1955 No, that's not what I meant. It's always good to see the lyrics in a song. You're saying you've always caught every single word in every song you've ever heard just by listening to it and never reading the lyrics?!
