Hey man thanks for the shout out at 3:54. Here's a serious statement (and I'm not just saying this because I'm a professional inspiring person). You could EASILY be a motivational speaker. Having a story helps, but the ability to communicate and having a passion to help people (both of which you got) are the only essentials.

Take a year or two off after high school. Pay close attention to what you find yourself doing on your free time when you're not FORCED to do anything. During my year off I read voraciously. I read and studied physics, chemistry, ancient history, poetry, neuroscience, and philosophy. I studied more than I had ever studied while being in school. I quickly determined that I wanted to be a professor. I'm in my last few days of my PhD program and have a job waiting for me. Taking that time off was probably the smartest thing I did.
The future is terrifying but once you have an idea or are certain of what you want to do in life its a lot less terrifying. lol PEW PEW PEW!

This is still my favorite video of yours. I really like the ice cream analogy especially since I keep having to go through the crap on the top. I think that there is a cycle: you have to go through crap to get to the better part but then you are met with new obstacles and the cycle repeats just in a different situation. I am in a transition period right now-- finally done with high school and now getting ready for college.

This is still genuinely one of my favorite videos on UA-cam. Its got puns, skit humor, truly inspiring anti-suicide metaphors, and really good comedic timing in its editing. I applaud you Nathan, you had serious skills even 5 years ago. Degreed Nathan is happening, and I'm hyped.

In high school I jokingly applied to the National Honor Society by writing an essay about how I fought a bunch of terrorist bears and saved 23 and a half babies from house fires. And they TOTALLY LET ME IN. Then I didn't go to the meetings but I put it on my college applications anyway aww yeah
I'm pretty confident this comment will be overlooked, but on the off-chance that you might see it I would like to say something. I'm sure you're told this constantly: but you are a wonderful person! You have this fantastic ability to make people laugh, to handle super sensitive topics in ways which captivate and inspire, and to generally entertain. I know the future is daunting, I'm in the exact same position. I am also in junior year (although we call it fifth year here in Scotland) and I need to start thinking about university but I just have no idea what I should do with my future. It's actually surprisingly comforting to know that my favourite youtuber shares the same concerns as I do! So I'll say it once and I'll say it again - THANK YOU NATHAN!!

I've loved watching your videos for a long time, and the quality had always been here. I hope this video is always here for me and anyone who needs it. Wow, I have been overwhelmed with homework, SATs, AP exams, finals, college (and all the ecs that go along with it), and you just put it all into perspective for me. Im a junior as well and have always been extremely ambitious and a pretty good student, but I lost my motivation lately. So thank you for making me realize I'm going to get my shit together.

Honestly in a lot of ways I think you already are a motivational speaker. Your videos make my life better, and I think a lot of other people would agree. The ice cream analogy is spot on and I love it :) but seriously you make such a big difference in my life at the very least, being an incredibly bright light when the world starts to feel too dark :)

I always come back to this video when I'm having a bad day. Your analogy with the ice cream cone got me through a hard time, so I just wanna say thank you Nathan😊
okay im gonna try to put that ice cream speech into a paragraph, here we go;
Picture life like an Drumstick, the ice cream kind. Now, it has nuts on top, chocolaty/vanilla creamy goodness in the middle, the sweet cone, and the chocolaty bottom. Now image you don't like nuts, or something that you just don't like in place of it. Nuts are essentially middle - high school. Gross, and somewhat hard to get through. But once you get past it, you get to the good stuff like college, getting married, having kids, and grandkids. Now imagine throwing out that drumstick just because you didn't like the small little top of nuts (or whatever its is you don't like..) That essentially is suicide. Getting rid of this yummy overall treat just because you don't like one part of it.
Yeah I'm in my last year of school and I have no idea what to do with my life which is great fun. So I feel your pain.
Also the icecream analogy (is it even an analogy?) was fab. Except I'm allergic to dairy so that kinda ruined it for me. Even if I got through the nuts I'd still end up sick so yay?

I think you would be a really fantastic motivational speaker. Like just this video made me feel better about everything going on(I'm a senior). The way you communicate is really fantastic. The analogy you made is one of the best I have ever heard, pertaining to high school or depression or anything along those lines. And you're still able to put humor throughout it all, which makes you really relatable and engaging. So do what you want to do! You'll get into college, and I know that you'll be really successful!

The wonderful thing about college is that you have tons of opportunities to figure out what you like and you'll find your way. I felt the same way you did when I was headed into college and it'll all work out. Do what you enjoy and it'll lead you to doing something you'll love.
