This comes in so handy when you have a friend that wants to stop by and grab something from your garage. I opened my door from Mexico. Great opener...very quiet.
This was still helpful in 2022. Thanks! In case this is helpful for anyone else: I had a leftover gateway from the previous owner of my home. I kept getting a "310" error when trying to add the device to my account. I had to do a hard reset of the gateway device (steps can be found on Chamberlain's website), and then I was able to use it.
That is the exact code I am getting. It worked great for years and I just got a new phone and it stopped working. My old phone works fine but the new phone shows that code?!
I updated my two garage doors recently with this hub, works great! Very easy to install! I also noticed that LED lights do not interfere with this system as they do with remote key pads.
In short....the green LED and blue LED should do a quick flash on power up of the unit.....the green LED is your network connection to the Internet.....it will initially flash while establishing a connection, then after possibly several minutes (10?) it should be a solid green light.....if you power down the gateway after a solid green light you should get a green/blue LED flash on power up then pretty quickly a solid green LED......when green is solid......press the learn button on the operator.....blue LED should then illuminate indicating a pairing of the blue tooth connection between the operator and Internet gate unit.....at that point you should have a functioning system on your smart phone on the operator application.
This gives the entire autorisation of your garage door. If they want, they can open it. Unlike IP cameras which they can only watch, net doors are a security issue
It does have a risk. However, that risk truly exists if someone has control of their system and also knows where you are while being able to be at your location. I had it for ~9 years now and so far it still works well. Had no issues and used the app multiple times to ensure I have closed the garage door.
Thank you for a very good review and explanation for retrofitting an older garage door to a Wi-Fi enabled garage door. This video was exactly what I needed.
Hey guys - just got one of these off ebay for 24 bucks. anyway, i too had issues with this working with my network. I have a TPLink AC1750 router. What ended up working for me, was the trial and error of removing and inserting the LAN cable into the various ports. It ended up working in Port 3. Weird, but functions as advertised!
Very helpful video, it was pretty easy, I had the Chamberlain "My Q" garage doors and panels so once I bridge the internet gateway I was off and running. I also bought the remote lighting for up and downstairs which was also very simple to set up. It's a very inexpensive way to smart your house through your phone. It's working great.
Hi, I liked your video on the setup and I ran into no issues. In fact, from plugging it into my router to pressing the 'learning' button and setting up the account it only took 15 mins max.
Thank you! My issue was that it didn't want to connect to my new modem, no matter the port. Once I plugged it in to an ethernet port directly in the wall, it started working again. If it wasn't for you mentioning that the green light didn't stay on I wouldn't have thought it was the router/modem it was plugged into.
The device was dropping my WiFi connection to my computer. At first I thought it was my Alexa or Google Home assistants. But through trial and error that was not the case. Also I didn't want to spend $10 a month for a subscription in order to voice control my opener. Returned it. It works with 2.4 WiFi. Not 5.0.
There is no subscription of $10 / month as far as I am aware of. This is one of the reasons I bought this unit. Set it up and that is it. No WiFi issues for me and I am running 2.4 and 5 Ghz Dual Band. Are we talking about the same unit ?
Does this device only work by providing power (signal) through the two wires (white and red)? Is that the only connection with the automatic door opener? If so, I suggest it might also work with most other door openers that have a wired remote control option using two wires. Any thoughts?
Hi, I have an ML700EV with the 830EV, and I can open the door, but it can't close it. When I press the close button, nothing happens and the timer goes to a timeout. As the manual isn't very explicit, I'd like to know if other people have had this problem?
Very helpfull video. My ethernet cable was pluged in 1st port on router. After watching this video i pluged in ethernet cable in 2 nd port and the green light appeared. Everything works now. Before cable was pluged in 2 port i had only blue light
Do you have to leave the gateway hardwired to the router? My router is located at the other end of the house and I don't want the extra clutter on my desk.
Do you have the exact model I found this one in MyQ Smart Garage Door Opener Chamberlain MYQ-G0301 - Wireless & Wi-Fi enabled Garage Hub with Smartphone but not sure if is the same ? I have purple bottom too.
I have an old 1992 Sears Garage Door Opener. It uses dip switches for the transmitter and does not have a door sensor. I want to control it over the internet and its not compatible with the myQ gateway. I believe this is because its not a programmable opener. If I added a Linear Universal MegaCode Receiver to the contacts of the door bell push button to open and close the garage door now making it a programmable opener, would it comunicate with the gateway allowing me to open and close the garge door over the internet? I understand the legal reasons (no door sensor) but this will be my call.
Hi - great video. Thanks. Im thinking of doing the same to but I have a Liftmaster... and will need both the MyIQ wall unit and gateway. Couple of questions.... 1. Im looking for a feature that the app tells / alerts you if the garage is open for a specified amount of time (ex - 5 mins, 10 mins, or whatever you determine). This is different than the auto close (which I dont want to use bc I know for sure I will lock myself out of the house if enables). Ideally, I would like to just be reminded if i forgot to close the garage. Do you know if this is possible? 2. Do you think it mattered which version gateway you bought for your overhead motor (Chamberlain, Craftsman, or Liftmaster) or would any have worked since they are all manufactured by the same company? From my perspective, all 3 seem to be the same products just with the different names on the box. Did you research the differences, or do you suggest going for best price? 3. Do you know if the apps for Chamberlain, Craftsman and Liftmaster are all the same (similar to what I am assuming for the internet gateways), only rebranded with the appropriate logos, or is one brand app significantly better/more advanced than another. Also, do you happen to know if you need to use the app specific to your exact brand, or can a Liftmaster App work with the Chamberlain MyIQ gateway - in case one app is more developed than another? Thanks so much... and again, great video.
1) When you view your (named) device through the app, it will say, (device name) has been open/closed for XX minutes/hours. 3) I think so. I have a LiftMaster opener and use the Chamberlain gateway, and the app is developed by Chamberlain. When I search "MyQ" in the Google Play store, the only offering is from Chamberlain. For this same reason, I'm thinking the answer to #2 is no, it doesn't likely matter. But just to be safe, why not get the brand that matches your opener?
Thank you for watching. Glad you liked the video. To answer your questions: 1. It does have that option in the app. I got mine set to alert me if it has been open for 5 minutes. I now use that instead of auto-close as as I forgot to press the hold button a few times when working outside and was running into the house as the beeping alert was starting with the warning. :) 2 / 3. I got the Chamberlain for the price. I expect them to be same/similar but since I do not know for sure I cannot make a recommendation. Best optoin would be to call and have customer service confirm compatibility.
+Mauro Pietro No, it does not. While I do not know the maximum distance limit, mine is connect to the router that is on the other end of the house (opposite side of the house from the garage door) and I have no issues. When I shot the video I did have it close for video/demo purposes only.
why does the blue light not stay on when I connect power? I have read the instructions, watched the video, and tried several times. It is blue, then it turns off. The green light lights as described and as shown in the video, but the blue light doesn't. And I cannot connect to the device with the smart phone app.
I did press the learn on the motor during setup, but did not need to press it on the wall controller on my model. If I need to program or re-program a remote, then I would.
my router was installed inside the metal box in the attic and i dont think so i can connect that unit with the ethernet cable, which and far from my garage! how can i resolve this issue before i buy the unit!
great video, thanks. i ordered just the gateway and after watching your video i see I'll also have to order the wall switch. question, i have 3 doors .. do i need to order 3 wall switches?
I have a myQ compatible Liftmaster opener. The control panel that we have in our garage has a screen to display the time and temperature. Do I still need to get a new control panel with the gateway or can I just keep the one we have? Also does the app require you to sign in every time you open it or do you just have to sign in once?
+Jesse Hooton Hi Jesse hopefully you already got an answer. But you do not need a new control panel. If your main unit is myq compatible then this will work by itself. Basically this functions like a internet connected remote. As long as it is plugged in and has internet, is within a remotes range of the door it will work. You can also control more than one door with the same unit.
+Bob Riley No, not an option. The beep is only on door close (no sound on door open). I think it is for safety purposes so that in case someone is in the way, they are "warned" that the door is going to go down. It is also helpful in-case you forget to press "hold" button; you get a warning that the door is going to close so that one does not get locked out. I went out to get the mail once and start chatting with my neighbor, the beeping "reminded" me that I bet get in before door closes and press the 'hold' button.
I have a Chamberlain garage door opener it is NOT a myQ opener if i buy this system will it tell me if my door is open or closed through my smart phone and if it does tell you how does that work?
+john lopez See if you can get the control panel/wall unit to work with your opener, if it does then you can add the gateway and it should work for Chamberlain units that have the Yellow or purple learn button. Give them a call to confirm as my info is based on my research for my unit.

What about more than one garage door? I have 3 with older units that are not MyQ compatible. I assume you just need one Internet Gateway but multiple MyQ compatible "contol panels." I don't see that particular control panel for sale separately, however - just a conversion kit with the gateway and one control panel. Anybody done this with multiple doors?
I believe you can have multiple devices on that gateway. Just add them as another device during setup / programing. I only have one, so cannot test it on my end.

yes. you can do it.
how can I get this to pair up with My Alexa or Google Home?
What does the solid blue light represent on the internet gateway?? Thanks
It has internet connectivity (it is online).
Theres been a lot of complaints about the garage door opening automatically when the controller starts to fail. Did you experience any of this?
I have not head of this issue nor experienced it opening by itself. So far it still works great. I will update if / when I have any issues.
@@ColoradoRMN Thanks. I installed it, very painless. Took about 8 minutes. So far so good.
can you open the garage door with the control panel itself? and which button does the job?

The garage opens but does not close back. Why? Thnx.
Check safety sensors and that there is nothing blocking them. If something is in the way, it will not close the door.

If the opener has the WiFi capabilities, yes. Not all openers do yet.
can I setup multiple garage door openers with 1 device?
+Rakesh Chintalacheruvu You should be able to. Once a gateway is added, there is an 'add' button, so I believe it should work.
+Rakesh Chintalacheruvu yes you can
So the myQ device has to be hard wired to your router??? That makes no sense for a "wifi" device. Please tell me that isn't true.
The gateway has to be wired to your router. The WiFi is to your garage door / operation connectivity.
