Thanks for the Video Brett. My daughter Purchased a MyQ Hub for me for my Birthday. It arrived yesterday, but I didn't open it until today. Once I opened it I noticed it only had a Quick Start Guide which was Absolutely NO HELP at all. The Quick Start Guide only had a list of the Parts you should have received and told you to Download the MyQ App. The MyQ App wasn't that easy either, as I have a Genie Garage Door Opener. Your Instruction did help even though it wasn't 100% accurate for my Garage Door Opener. I was able to fake my way thru using just my iPhone, no iPad was needed. I didn't get the Bridge, didn't even know it was a thing! I think I can get by without the Bridge, just wanted to be able to Open and Shut my garage door while away from home if we forgot to close it for some reason. I could also let my Sister-in-law in the house thru the garage door if she would arrive at my home before I get there (she sometimes forgets her key when she comes to visit)! Anyway, your video was a lot of help!
I must be missing something. I have two Chamberlain garage door openers that both have myq logos on them (2016). What do I need to get them working with HomeKit???

Hi, after I connect the MyQ to the wifi network it keeps flashing green instead of a green solid light. Do you have any idea what's causing that? Thanks
At 10:10 in the video you reveal that the Google assistant can only close the garage door and not open it, yet it seems that Siri can open the door. Is that right? Google assistant is trained to recognize a users voice so I don't see a security issue with it opening the door.
Some other smart stuff I have has a pin number required to open or unlock the things using Google Assistant. They could easily offer this and make it a lot better.
I struggled with this installation for two days following MyQ instructions. This video was exactly what I needed to compete the installation. My iPhone 7 Plus would not compete the installation. My iPad Mini 4 did the trick. Thanks for your help.
Can you set a reminder to tell you if at 8:00 the garage is still open? Chamberlain says you can. Just want to know if what they told me is correct. If my kids were playing in the garage with the door open will the app automatically notify me if the door is still open at 8:00.
If you're here for the same reason as me (trying to set this up with HomeKit) save some trouble and return. Just got off the phone with a level 2 engineer at MyQ. he said as of two weeks ago HomeKit support was discontinued due to "customer feedback". I asked him what else this product could be used for if not linking to HomeKit, he couldn't think of any other uses. Also, if you have one and it's already setup, don't ever reset it, the support agent said it will not be able to pair with HomeKit again effectively bricking the device.
Great video....my issue with this device is I have 2 side-by-side garage doors. I originally bought 2 HUBS...but later discovered I could just install 1 hub, and just add the 2 sensors, 1 to each garage door. I did that, but I could not get the individual garage doors to open separately despite MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS!!! They either BOTH open simultaneously or 1 only. Chamberlain online support was useless. You have 1 big single door. I was just wondering if you had any insight on this?
Here is my issue. I have two Chamberlain Garage Door openers that are equipped with myq technology. I use an iphone 11 max and the myq app. I have NO HUB. I have successfully connected my iphone app to communicate with my Chamberlain Garage Door openers. However on the app it only shows the open and close image. I can open and close both garage doors. My iphone does not show the LOCK image nor the light on/light off image. I want to be able to LOCK the two garage doors openers from my app. How to I get the myq app to show the lock image and the light image. Thanks
I have a roll-up garage door (the industrial kind) that wraps like wrapping paper. Of course this creates an issue mounting the door sensor at the top as it would roll inside. The bottom section is the only place on the door I could mount it, will it still work?
I believe it only beeps when closing... a convenient method to warn anyone who may be in/around/entering/exiting the garage to prevent injury. Not sure why anyone would want to override a useful safety feature...especially given that the beeping isn't that annoying.
@@bobbybrown614 .. I granted access to my wife's phone..I can grant access up to 3 people..If you not tech savvy though the person who you send access to might need to be walked through it .
I had the same problem with a LG V40 phone. In the app it would connect then throw a warning that it lost connection but when you went to settings it was connected. Fooled with it for 45 minutes then switched to another phone. A LG G6. It was up and running in 5 minutes. After the success of getting it running with the G6 the app worked to control on both phones. The app appears to not be compatible for installation with all devices but once successfully installed the app works on all the devices I have connected to it.
Hi Brett, Just a theory, but I think the reason that you weren't able to complete the wifi setup with your phone and had to use your iPad was related to the MyQ device preferring (requiring) the 2.4 GHz network channel frequency. I believe the setup would have worked from your phone if you would have connected it to your 2.4 GHz wifi network.
I have Chamberlain garage with myQ but there is no wifi with that. Do I need smart garage hub with myq bridge? I want my garage door to work with Siri?
Thanks for the video...if I already have nest and just want the capability of opening and closing remotely. No automation. Do I still have to pay the fees?
Thank you for mentioning that your button was green!! I have a liftmaster opener from 1996 with a red button on it. I spent 3 hours trying to pair it. I even called the support number only to be on hold for 45 minutes and then they hung up on me. I called back and it said they were closed. After watching your video I defaulted the device and went thru the setup again but I selected the green button option even though I have a red button and it worked, it only took a few seconds to connect. I guess I should have searched youtube before trying to call them. Thanks
I have one door that is new and is working with MY Q , my second door does not have the MY Q technology, can I add it to my current system with just the HUB
All these hubs are a bit annoying. What about using a zigbee hub like an Alexa device or something like a HomePod/AppleTV (HomeKit)? Do you still need a hub with these other hubs? If not, is there an option where a hub isn’t needed?
I bought the Hub and the Bridge and installed it and then discovered that I have to an Apple iPad, Pod, Or TV to enable home access. I have an IMac but it can't be used as a home hub. I bought the bridge specifically so I could have the door open automatically when I got home or by pressing the Siri button on my car's steering wheel. I'm not techie so I didn't know I needed this but do wish you had made this clear in your video. There's really no point to having the bridge if there's not remote access. By the way, I had lots of problems setting up the bridge, too, and ended up calling Chamberlin for help. Nonetheless, a very informative video. Now I have to try to return the Chamberlin bridge.
This is pretty straightforward. I need some different approach to this thing. What is the purpose of mounting that annoying beeping hub to the ceiling. I wasn't able to find a solid reason.
Hey Brett, did you ever do a video about integrating an LG c8 or similar TV with Google Assistant? I seem to remember it but I can't find it. We just got an LG c8 TV with Google Assistant but it's not hands-free Google Assistant. We're a Google Assistant household and it would be nice to be able to control the TV with our voice. We get our cable through Cox contour boxes
@@ericpatterson4827 I haven't figured out why I think it's just a Google security thing. I have found a work around though using an app called simplecommand it allows me to open via Google assistant and with Alexa.
That's interesting. Same with my ADT home alarm system. The assistant will arm it but will not disarm. Frustrating... thanks for the tip on the workaround. Much appreciated!
I live in an apartment complex with detached/remote garages. They installed a Liftmaster 7675, which has MyQ. This model is not compatible with my car's Homelink, so now that doesn't work. This wasn't the end of the world because I need to take the remote into the house, but apparently these new systems are super sensitive--the remote can open the gate from further away than the old model. This might seem great when someone is driving up to their garage, so they don't have to wait as long for it to open, but it isn't great if you are constantly concerned you bumped the button and opened the garage. Several times I have gone out to the garage to find it open. I now hold the remote very carefully as I walk to my unit then I carefully stow the remote in an area where the button can't be accidentally touched. This seems ridiculous. I also can't use the MyQ app to open the garage because my garage is detached. If I could get wifi to the garage then maybe I could get it to work with the purchase of their hubs or bridges, but I can't because my apartment doesn't have line of sight to the garage (other units are in the way), and I can't install outdoor repeaters because it isn't my building. Moreover, all the aftermarket bluetooth garage door openers seem to be incompatible with the yellow program button on these models. Pretty lame if you ask me.
I just used the number in this video and got off the phone with a rep. He said I could buy the 828LM Internet Gateway. This goes in my house and connects to my internet then sends a signal to their server and is 600 ft compatible or something, even if there isn't line of sight, so I'm hoping this will work.
Curiously, I have found that when I try to open or close the garage door using Siri with my Apple Watch 7, it usually won’t work, but when I try using Siri on my iPhone (when I am in my car) it works every time. Weird!
I just installed the hub in my garage last night. It would NOT for the life of me connect on it's own. Had you not made this video I would not have succeeded, at least not last night. So thanks. My only suggestion is that you somewhat blew through the part when you made the connection. Especially when you connected to the MYQ Wi-Fi. I had to rewind and puase the video several times to actually see what you were doing. But I was able to fig. it out. I think Chamberlain really needs to rewrite their instructions and add that website. That and physically connecting to the MYQ Wi-Fi was the key to getting it running. Thanks
Tech With Brett I am having the hardest time connecting to the bridge although I have it setup in home but the logo is not lit and lair mode is not working! Any help is a benefit !
My Garage door is from 1999. So the myQ hub is what I installed. Even after watching your video I have no idea what the Bridge is for. My neighbor wants me to help him with his garage door but his has a myQ logo (I don’t see the WiFi logo) on the side of the motor. Does that mean that he only needs to buy a Bridge? Does the bridge come with a sensor that needs to be attached to the top panel of the door? How else will the app able to tell if the door is open or closed??
My liftmaster has the MYq logo. The home bridge goes for $89. And the the regular smart control hub goes for $30 on Amazon. Seems like I should just the the smart control hub even if my opener has the MYq built in. Also I don't need homekit...using Android
Mine worked for six plus months then started losing WiFi connection. Support has not been able to solve this issue. My phone alerts me ten times a day saying it has lost WiFi connection.
Just installed the MyQ Smart Hub. There's a 10ish second delay between pushing close on my phone and the door actually closing. Is this simply a safety feature signalling that the garage is about to close, or is the MyQ struggling to communicate with my closer/opener?
@@vindoan9121 Not officially. I took the case apart and covered the light with tape and covered the speaker as well. Its still loud unfortunately. Ive debated removing the speaker entirely
OK I have MyQ Smart Garage door opener without Wifi and I have Wink Hub and MyQ Smart Garage Door Opener Chamberlain MYQ-G0301 - Wireless & Wi-Fi enabled Garage Hub with Smartphone Control what do I need Thanks in advance
I bought the myQ on a daily deal during Amazon Prime Days. When setting it up the only issue I had was during pairing with the opener motor. I have a red button but it wouldn’t work. I tried moving the hub around but no dice. I called support and during troubleshooting, the rep asked for my model number. Turns out that I needed to use the purple button option based on the model number. There really needs to be an easier way to do this.
I have the momentum garage door opener. It has a camera so you can verify the door is closed. Also records video on motion and saves to the cloud for 24 hours for free or via SD card and has mic and speaker for 2 way communication for about the same price. Works great! I think it connects on both 2.4 and 5 ghz. Mounts on the opener but I mounted it elsewhere and the video actually defaults to it being upside down. The base has some weight to it. Use case senario if you have amazon or your friend dropping something off you can open the garage for them to place the package in the garage rather than porch. Also good surveillance camera if someone breaks into your house or garage. All for the same price as this.
Thank you this was crazy helpful, I have a craftsman myQ garage door and got the bridge so I could use Siri. I had a heck of a time just getting the bridge to connect to my home wifi and show up on the myQ app. Now im just trying to get the garage door to connect to the bridge and I think im going to call that number for help. I really don't know why it won't connect. Chamberlin really needs to come up with a set up video or put out some new set up manuals.
Yeah it took forever to get it connected but then worked great when it did. I think a bit has changed to since this video so definitely give them a call.
I have the MyQ garage opener as well and I love it, been wondering if I should link my Google home to it. Seems funny to have to pay for this feature that should just be integrated. Is it worth paying for?
If you are carrying bags of grocies in the door daily and can't hit the button on your way in then I would give it a definite yes. If you also are forgetful and want to check the status of the garage door often it would be nice to have.
Charging $1 a month is stupid. No other service does that so far to have their gadget work with Google or Alexa etc. It’s actually an unnecessary service. I’ll never pay and I suspect no one pays. I have the myQ HUB and I can control it from my iPhone using the iOS app. It’s handy when I come home on my bicycle. My car’s HOME Link opens my garage door so I don’t need to use the app. I can at any time check the status of my garage door from my iPhone wherever I am. You don’t need a subscription for that. And that is probably the most important feature. So many times I have driven away forgetting to close the door. Or have come into the house and forgotten to close the door. I have programmed myQ to alert me every 10 minutes for 2 hours if my door is still open.
I have a chamberlain LW5000EV made in 2013, it says Myq on the outside so which product do I need, hub or gateway or bridge? Why doesn’t chamberlain offer the gateway anymore on their site? Apple HomeKit? Thanks
Installing the hub was a piece of cake. Connecting the bridge has been ridiculous. The instructions are not specific enough. Neither device does what the instructions say they will do. I have wiped the settings on the hub twice by following the directions. I've decided the directions on the bridge should be ignored. While your directions didn't work either, they helped me understand how the hub is supposed to transfer settings to the bridge. I stuck with Chamberlain because the hub had been so easy to set up. I had it working with my raspberry pi, but it was given to opening randomly, so I disconnected it from that and purchased the bridge. At the time of this writing, I don't have the bridge working, but I'm confident it will take less than an hour on the phone with Chamberlain to finish the setup. So what was the phone number you had promised?
Nice vid. However, I found setup to quite straightforward (albeit a bit confusing). Setup My-Q "bridge" as per instructions. In My Q app select device to transfer to bridge . Go to garage "hub" and press and hold setting button until it flashes blue, then press "1" button on the "hub" until it turns orange. Settings should now be transferred to the "bridge" and show up on your "Home" app. Works flawlessly.
Just wanted to give my 2 cents. As of May 2020 MyQ app is not requiring a paid subscription to integrate with google home. It gives a free 1 year subscription. Once you add it to google home you can use Siri to operate your Garage door through My Shortcuts app. HOWEVER due to security concerns MyQ/google have disabled the feature to use your voice to open your garage door. The idea is that they don’t want someone to open your garage thru your google home. You can still close the door but not open it.
heads up to any buyers planning on using with Google Home. Chamberlain wont allow you to open the garage door via Google Home due to "security reasons". that's what you get for your paid subscription. You can close the door or check status. that's it.
hi, my english is not very good but l like your video. ! have question for you ...l have myQ smart garage hub (chamberlain) and myq home bridge (liftmaster) is it a similira setup and your vidéo. tank you Raynald
I installed this set on my garage door and after first round of setup and some issues it started working properly. I was surprised when application gave possibility to add only 3 guests and we are family of 5 without the dog and parrot! :-) So definitelly 3 guests are not enough for family and other guests coming to the house for different reasons. Basically, you would need to delete one guest to add another one! Also application history is not showing which user opened the door!!!@#!#@!#@! This trickery is very chip and rude application harassment by Chamberlain! At the end, do you know how to turn off beeping sound of the closing door, and what button 2 is used for? Thank you for the video?
WOW Brett ! You continue to amaze ! Unfortunately, no one I know 😕 would likely be able to accomplish this feat. Or for that matter, many of the other things I have watched you do ! You would seem to possess the patience of Job ! I really hope your Family is able to appreciate you.🤗 Great video. Thanks :-) JL ^_^ Tipped 🎩!
Thank you I've had mine for over a year and just installed it today. Works great and setup was easy for me. Google Assistant is active but not working yet. Wish I could mute the loud beep or lower the volume. Also hate asking Google to ask myQ. Why can't it just work directly through Google? Hate that.
Great video until 12:25 when he says "I may have got the" button sequence wrong. Thanks. That's where it fails everytime, wiping out the MyQ hub as it freezes.
What part are you at? It was when it is asking you to press some combo on the MyQ device but I really should have done it on the Bridge. Let me know what devices you are using and I will see if I can find the answer.
Tech With Brett Right after the part where you clear the wifi settings from the hub. After that, the app seems to be lost. The combo just doesn't work. I can call them in the morning so don't worry about it. I really appreciate the reply and I enjoy your posts!
Can you set up multiple users for the same garage door without giving them your account credentials? Example, give my girlfriend and parents access to my garage door without giving them MY username and password, they would just have their own login info.
Congratulations! Perhaps in 20 years it'll be simpler, but now at least you are ready for when those self-driving cars can park themselves in the garage 8-)
I really don't like how the "myQ" app needs your location AND your wifi router password. This is not like all the others where you put your router password in your phone. You will be required to give your router password and location to the MY Q app. Now it isn't getting past the red light on the sensor. I think, it's going back.
To be clear, I just spent $200 for the MyQ new garage door opener. Now, I need to pay for an Extra bridge? This costs $69 dollars. All it does is talk to Siri? Guess I should have paid the $20 for new gears.
Thanks for the Video Brett.

Does anyone know how to add a shortcut like he did to get Google to open the garage door?
Dose this work with 1 or 2 door. I have 2 doors so do I need 2 smart door hub 🤔 or i need 2hubs q for each door.
I don't see myQ app listed in google assistant shortcuts in pixel phone.
Thanks for the video. Do you know if the upgraded chamberlain hub and door sensor ( white ) are a great improvement?
Hi,
Is there a way to mute that beeping when it activates the open/close command? Thanks!
Not through the app...maybe some tape to muffle it some..only sounds when closing
I believe it only beeps when closing... a convenient method to warn anyone who may be in/around/entering/exiting the garage to prevent injury. Not sure why anyone would want to override a useful safety feature...especially given that the beeping isn't that annoying.
Are you able to install the app and use it on more than one persons phone? I read somewhere that you couldn't.
@@bobbybrown614 .. I granted access to my wife's phone..I can grant access up to 3 people..If you not tech savvy though the person who you send access to might need to be walked through it .
@@jjermaine33 thats good to hear thanks! Maybe some of these reviews I read were out to lunch.
Thanks. You were more helpful than the actual website and instructions.

How does it work with the NEST DEVICES?
Nice video. Can you open the garage door halfway with the app? I like to leave the door slightly open for my dog. Thanks
All these hubs are a bit annoying. What about using a zigbee hub like an Alexa device or something like a HomePod/AppleTV (HomeKit)? Do you still need a hub with these other hubs?
If not, is there an option where a hub isn’t needed?
I wonder how the door sensor hold up in -30C weather considering its battery power source. ?
Since you can control it remotely, it's a warning for someone that might be at home when you close the door.
Can you connect with Smarttings?
From what I could find it does not look like it.
WHow can I get Google assistant to work with the smart Garage hub?
With the bridge, would Google assistant on Android be able to open the door? Or does that only work on iOS?
Did you ever find out why you cannot open the door the Google Assistant?
@@ericpatterson4827 I haven't figured out why I think it's just a Google security thing. I have found a work around though using an app called simplecommand it allows me to open via Google assistant and with Alexa.
That's interesting. Same with my ADT home alarm system. The assistant will arm it but will not disarm. Frustrating... thanks for the tip on the workaround. Much appreciated!
How can we integrate with Alexa and google assistant? i also have Wink hub 2. can we use these to connect to Alexa or Google home?
It looks like you can link the MyQ system to the Wink Hub 2. More info here: www.wink.com/help/products/chamberlain-myq-garage-door-controller/
Weird!
Thanks Brett for the super easy instructions! Just subscribed to your channel :) Keep up the good work.
Thanks
Sorry about covering quickly. I should have wrong down there instructions better so I could have been more clear. Glad you got it working!
How about if l have two car garage doors. Do l have to purchase two devices?
goo.gl/BNXbdD
Does this still require a monthly fee for Google Home integration?
Yes it does
My app is not asking for a hub or bridge. I have a new garage door opener
My liftmaster has the MYq logo. The home bridge goes for $89. And the the regular smart control hub goes for $30 on Amazon. Seems like I should just the the smart control hub even if my opener has the MYq built in. Also I don't need homekit...using Android
Nice review. Do existing wall and car visor buttons still work after the installation?
Yes they do, just be careful not to Reset your whole garage door opener and you should have no problem.
Only the best with Brett
Can you quiet or turn off the beeping of the hub?
Unfortunately no, for unattended operation features, UL325 codes say that there must be an visible and audible signal before the door closes
Is the subscription for Chamberlain or one of the apps/services?
why the hub going offline after setup up?
Mine worked for six plus months then started losing WiFi connection. Support has not been able to solve this issue. My phone alerts me ten times a day saying it has lost WiFi connection.
Just installed the MyQ Smart Hub. There's a 10ish second delay between pushing close on my phone and the door actually closing. Is this simply a safety feature signalling that the garage is about to close, or is the MyQ struggling to communicate with my closer/opener?
It's a safety feature. The hub should be flashing lights and beeping for about 10 sec before activating the opener.
@@jcx2bby thanks for the good info. Do you know if this feature can be disabled?
Good stuff! I didn't know you could make any garage door opener into a smart system. Very cool.
BTW, what editing software do you use?
Thank you! I am using Adobe Premiere CC.
So you can’t open via google assistant?
Thanks
If your device is already MyQ supported you will just need the Bridge and that will make it Apple HomeKit compatible as well.
great explanation - i installed my garage hub using this video !!!
Hopefully the process has been simplified. So glad to hear it was simple for you!
Nice video Brett, thanks! Ordering my MyQ Hub today!
! have question for you ...l have myQ smart garage hub (chamberlain) and myq home bridge (liftmaster) is it a similira setup and your vidéo.
tank you

Thanks! You got me setup...I was having issues and this video got it going! You rock.
Awesome! Glad it is working!
Brett this is awesome!
Great review, once you installed the bridge, do you still need to keep the hub connected in order for your system to work?
Yes
WOW Brett !
You continue to amaze !
Unfortunately, no one I know 😕 would likely be able to accomplish this feat.
Or for that matter, many of the other things I have watched you do !
You would seem to possess the patience of Job !
I really hope your Family is able to appreciate you.🤗
Great video. Thanks :-)

Howmany phones can control 1 garage door?
Multiple phones and shared accounts can control it.
Great video, I couldn't get mine to work last year when I purchased it. I plan to try again to set it up.
thanks for the help. The New MyQ app works great and takes you through step my step
Did you need a hub or bridge
Thank you
I've had mine for over a year and just installed it today. Works great and setup was easy for me. Google Assistant is active but not working yet.
Wish I could mute the loud beep or lower the volume. Also hate asking Google to ask myQ. Why can't it just work directly through Google? Hate that.
This video was very helpful
It no longer works with Nest
Am I crazy for thinking its incredibly unsafe to have unfinished outlets not covering cables?
Please do a review of the Samsung Flip..!!

No... Hehe, this... ua-cam.com/video/koFmsg8TaUU/v-deo.html
Great video until 12:25 when he says "I may have got the" button sequence wrong. Thanks. That's where it fails everytime, wiping out the MyQ hub as it freezes.
Awesome! Thanks for the video. This answered lots of issues for me.
Brett, love this! Thank you. Quick question, what did Chamberlain tell you to do get it working? I'm having the same issue and they're closed.
Mine just came in the mail. Now I feel like I can set it up.
Howd it go?
Can you set up multiple users for the same garage door without giving them your account credentials? Example, give my girlfriend and parents access to my garage door without giving them MY username and password, they would just have their own login info.
How do you open the DAMN box?!?!!!
There's an app for that!
Hey Brett, thanks for always providing great reviews and how-tos. Is there any way to trigger geofence with MyQ (like the Nexx Garage?)
I didn't mount mine in the ceiling, I have a FROG and it's sitting on my desk, garage opener works great
i need amazon alexa control garage door
Congratulations! Perhaps in 20 years it'll be simpler, but now at least you are ready for when those self-driving cars can park themselves in the garage 8-)
Very helpful; LOL @ like a good neighbor
thank you for the informative video. helped a lot
I really don't like how the "myQ" app needs your location AND your wifi router password. This is not like all the others where you put your router password in your phone. You will be required to give your router password and location to the MY Q app. Now it isn't getting past the red light on the sensor. I think, it's going back.
I was just about to give up and rate this product a Negative 5. Thank you for you're post. Why won't they fix the pairing app.
Just got one on amazon prime day
Your thoughts?
A fee to use Google Assistant!? Super lame. And it won't even open the garage door.
To be clear, I just spent $200 for the MyQ new garage door opener.
Now, I need to pay for an Extra bridge? This costs $69 dollars. All it does is talk to Siri?
Guess I should have paid the $20 for new gears.
