The pop songs were intentionally made to sound generic. Her label controlled her during the movie and made her release this style of music when she wasn’t that type of artist.
I love how there are still loads of Little Monsters on twitter who love those generic pop songs, kinda ironic considering how manufactured and fake they intentionally are.

The Cure was originally going to be in the soundtrack. I’m happy because it’s a very basic song, but now I know why! At least we know Gaga won’t go this direction in her new album which is why I’m osoooooo excited for LG6.

the songs were produced with dj white shadow whos worked on previous albums of hers, the only generic thing about the pop songs is supposed to be the lyrics. ally is a master songwriter and the lyrics in all of them are basic but the production of all of them are amazing

The Pop songs are meant to be eh and just be mindless pop but you'll understand better when you see the movie. Always Remember Us This Way, Is That Alright and I'll Never Love Again are the holy trinity of this soundtrack!

This soundtrack is on Whitney Houston's "The Bodyguard" level. All of the songs sound like instant classics. If Gaga doesn't receive at least one award then I'm rioting. They better NOT try the Little Monsters. 😤
I don't know if it's quite at that level, but it's close... Like, the songs on The Bodyguard soundtrack were defining songs of Whitney's career, but I can't see people looking back at Gaga's career and picking any of these as defining songs over Poker Face, Bad Romance or Born This Way

I never a big fan of a lady gaga and i go with my friend to the cinema on this movie because she have 2 tickets and i was shook,really i laught, i cry.She is a icon,her voice is a masterpiece (i cry everytime when i listen to i never love again its like a Whitney+Mariah vibe) I wish she do more songs like this because her voice is unique and i need songs like this on the radio (not only about drugs,sex,money and other shit) SHE MUST WIN AWARD!!!!

I read somewhere that someone theorized that "The Cure" was meant for the film but they didn't use it which is why Gaga released it as one of her songs. If you watch the movie "A Star Is Born" and look at Gaga's cover for "The Cure" it is very Ally and makes sense. It's also like Gaga gave us a taste of Ally before we even knew she was Ally!
I think this could be true because she debuted this song at coachella 2017. She headlined coachella because when they were filming a star is born, Bradley asked if they could use the coachella stage for filming in between the two weekends. At the time they needed someone to headline and it came to some sort of agreement that Lady Gaga would perform and they could film (obviously not just this exchange but her performing helped out.) So she maybe wrote this song as ally as at the time she was filming scenes as ally. Also if you look closely during one of her songs at coachella (can’t remember which one now) the backdrop is photos of her as ally!!

La Vie En Rose is a French classic from the singer Edith Piaf who is legendary - check her out if you haven’t. The way they pay homage to Piaf is lovely as she was a woman which was highly misunderstood in her life. Gaga also sang La Vie En Rose even before this movie so I feel as if the song was a perfect introduction because they blended her real life and her character in a way that really touched me.
Bradley first became interested in casting Gaga after he saw her perform the song.
The problem with this reaction is that you didn’t see the movie before.
You need to know the story to fully understand the lyrics, why the songs are in that order and why they sound like that.
Rez, her fcking manager, was controlling her and made her sound very pop and kinda generic (Heal Me, Why Did You Do That, Hair Body Face). Jackson tried to make her understand that she was losing herself but she didn’t listen to him.

“Is That Alright” is definitely the standout track. Made me cry.
This movie reminded me firstly of why Gaga is the woman I’ve idolized since I was 13 in 2008 and also why she was the one who gave me the strength to become a singer. This movie is so representative of what we go through as artists. It was powerful to say the least. Gaga fan or not, it is a must see

I watched it the first day it came out in the movies two days ago and oh my GOD!!! I remember why I became a little monster and my queen Lady Gaga reminded me why I started music and fell in love with it in the first place! The pop songs are supposed to sound like THE perfect composed modern pop bangers. Lyrically weak but perfectly composed and produced, you’ll understand why once you’ll watch the movie.

In Heal Me, Ally was trying to be not the "pop singer", she has her hair yet and everything, I think is the best of the pop songs in the album
Bry Holland don’t misunderstand me, I love the pop songs but they are supposed to show how Ally is changing her style in a more pop influenced genre but it’s her choice, she likes her stuff. That’s why she’s defending her song when Jackson made fun of it in the bathtub scene. She lost her identity only when it comes to changing her look for others, doing things she doesn’t like but STILL she’s defending her music. I loved that they showed that particular detail.
Those songs aren't "generic"; they still help tell the story.

I think the film version of I Will Never Love Again... Shows what may happen to Bradley's character Jackson at the end of the movie. And each time I listen to it, I cried. I have cried 7 times today from it. You can hear her sniffling on that track which makes me think of Jackson.
The part where it cuts to him singing it to her is the part where i loose it
Before the movie i diidnt listen to film version so i didnt know it but in the movie it was so emotional especially the part he said i just want to take a nother look at you part when they say goodbye for the last time
When she filmed I will never love again she had just lost her friend to cancer and tried to get to the hospital and missed saying goodbye to her. She came back to set and filmed that scene, she was singing to her friend she said.
You should do another review after watching the movie. It makes sense why there are Pop songs in the Soundtrack.
Always remember us this way is my favorite song of this soundtrack. Heal me is totally different between another song that reason in the movie.

La vie en rose is actually one of the most beautiful, romantic and famous french songs by the artist Edith Piaf who passed away years ago in 1963. This song is considered as a masterpiece and many artists did a cover, sometimes in english, like Louis Armstrong. As a french person, I can say that Gaga did an amazing job with this song.

The album and the film is DEFINITELY a turning point for Lady Gaga. People used to see her as plain pop but with a star is born, she has all respects, because her effort in A Star Is Born is definitely not to sleep on. She deserves all the 71 awards on shallow too. A Star is Born is still one of the best albums today too imo

I love her pop music, she did those song for the LGBTQ community, born this way, bad romance, and meny more are classics. Especially the ones she calibrated with Beyonce were classics. But I love what she is doing more now, using her vocals and singing authentic music, showcasing her legit talent...she is a multi-talented, triple Threat, who can sing any genres of music.
