The best “star is born” version is the Judy Garland version. This Gaga movie is the fourth version/remake.
Next fellow travelers pls
Please please react to their performance of Shiloh at the Grammy awards or for another treat react to the Lady Gaga concert that brats watching from the front row and she brings him up on stage to sing shallow! They just killed it!!!!
It continues to amaze me that this movie didn't get the Oscars that it deserved. It's such an amazing accomplishment for a first time director: big concert scenes, a whole album of original songs, a first-time movie actress, and Cooper turned himself into a singer.
Probably because it was the fourth time this movie had been made. And it was closer to the version that Barbara Streisand starred in,in the 1970's version. Lady Gaga had already been in Sin City 2.
It was great movie, but the fact that it was the fourth version of this story, and that it was up against Bohemian Rhapsody also didn’t help. It’s likely why Bradley didn’t get an Oscar.
@@pobstrel Gaga was a cameo in Sin City, ASIB was her first time in a real role for a film
preach
And the joke that was bohemian rhapsody won a ton 😭
When I saw this in theaters during premiere week, at the last seen where Gaga looks directly into the camera and then the film ends…the theater was so silent, except for the sounds of sniffling and heavy breathing. Walking out of the theater, everyone was wiping their tears away. Such an impactful movie with an emotional ending.
During the filming of the last song Lady Gaga learned her friend,Sonja Durham, was dying so she left the set and tried to make it to see her friend. After she went back and performed the scene
Correction. She actually found out that Sonja had died. She insisted that they filmed that they filmed that scene as she could show her raw emotion
Rob, you are so right, like I know she is THE Lady Gaga but I feel like she still doesn't get the recognition she deserves for having one of the most beautiful voices there is. Love this movie and Love the reaction you guys are the best ♥
I finally realized her vocal range when she sang “the sound of music” medley at the Oscars? I was shooketh.
7:31 this is my favorite moment from the channel, hands down
That moment was actually iconic
I love that part too!! 😂❤❤❤ They all tilted their heads!! Was just adorable.. haha..
The cut to Jackson singing Never love again guts me every time.
The line "I just wanted to take another look at you," is a constant through all four versions of this story. The phraseology changes a bit from film to film, but it's there each time. It was a song in the 1977 version.
I love that one too ❤
The drag queens are world famous queens, Shangela and Willam!
zuff admitting that he probably won't cry like his parents did has me laughing... self-acceptance!
Bradley cooper should have won the Oscar for this the hill il die on
I agree. Gary Oldman is a fantastic actor but I do feel there were better roles he should've won the Oscar for as well. For me, this should've been Bradley's year as well.
@@violettaazul I think Rami Malek won for Bohemian Rhapsody that year, Gary Oldman was the year before
@@Michael-wx7dr Oh gosh totally right! I was focusing on the year it came out and totally forgot the nomination would've been the following year 🙈🤣 Oh well I agree even more with the comment on Bradley, Rami was OK but not Oscar worthy for me tbh
oh 100%. Bradley did amazing
5:38 bryce is so attentive and quick with it
I hope he shaves
@@kristangrande8338😭😭😭
@@kristangrande8338what a weird thing to say
@@berikiko3269 I meant his facial hair. He look better without it, the same way he looked early last year
@@kristangrande8338 still a weird comment, let him be.
When i first watched this in the theatre i gasped when Jack started giving his stuff away. I just knew that was a sign of what was to come 😭
I remember watching this for the first time with my mom and I was crying so bad, especially after learning that Lady Gaga's friend passed away before the last scene :( Rip Sonja 🫶
4:48 gaga’s friend is the actor who played Hamilton’s friend Lorens and son in the broadway show
yes!! anthony ramos 🥰
to answer your question, the crowd bc's performing in front of at the beginning are people at a willie nelson concert. :)
This is one reaction that I didn’t know that I needed, but now it will forever hold a special place in my heart. This was my best friend’s favorite movie, and seeing you all truly enjoy it brings a tear to my eye! Lizzie loved your channel, and she would’ve loved this reaction. Thank you for being here ❤
This movie broke me. I was SOBBING in the theater. Still cry whenever I hear some of the songs from the soundtrack. Great reaction!
People still love to shit on Gaga and say she some dimensional. This is her lead debut in a movie. DEBUT. She was only a cameo here and there but this was the first time she truly acted for a movie (outside of American horror story but that’s TV). She ate this UP
7:33 the head turns
I really love these guys
this is actually a good remake 👍🏼 gaga slayed
also, the movie was filmed at multiple music festivals in between actual sets! so the crowds and audio is very real which is super dope
38:13 I do this all the time 😂😂 "I'm blind without my glasses."
46:00 poor Bryce looks like a train just hit him
That opening concert scene was actually filmed during a real concert - they piggy-backed in on an existing concert. the audience are not actors! amazing.
OH MY GOD YALL CANNOT BREAK MY HEART LIKE THIS. I LOVE THIS MOVIE💀
that color purple is definitely bryces color 😮💨😮💨
😭 I can always count on Rob and Bryce to cry with me! 🥹💕
This is the third remake of this movie and in my opinion it’s the best version of this movie. The chemistry between Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga is off the charts. I’m so happy y’all watched this movie.
Just going to leave my weekly plea for Good Omens here. Thanks guys!
This is the *fourth* remake of this particular story. The main one people really remember is the 1954 one, starring Judy Garland and James Mason - but the 1976 version with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristoffersen is also good, even though it didn't get good reviews at the time. The very first version hails from 1937 with Frederic March and Janet Gaynor - I love Frederic March especially Wonderful actor! It's really interesting to watch all of these films and see how the versions compare/contrast - like, what parts of the story are developed or focused on, what is left out - there isn't one definitive version (although I think the 1954 one is the best). It's almost like each generation needs to revisit the themes of this story - and I really like that idea! - it's like how every generation needs to revisit Hamlet or something, and new actors take the role and bring their own thing to it. I love that Bradley Cooper chose this well-known story to explore eternal ideas about relationships and art and success.
gaga singing la vie en rose is chefs kiss
when I was in high school and I was going through my first ever break up my mom, let me skip school the next day due to how distraught I was. She saiid ‘cmon let’s go see a movie’ and took me to this thinking it would be a Lady Gaga musical . Let’s just say it did not help.
the first crowd is a real crowd haha at a real concert!
Finally. I cried so hard to this in 2020 that I had a headache after.
Not even done with the reaction but had to come down and say that me and Rob are mind melding on the fact that “You’re Music to My Eyes” is my favorite song on the soundtrack! ❤️
Same. Such a beautiful song. When you think you couldn't have a bigger crush on Rob, we then find out he's a Lady Gaga fan and loves this soundtrack 😭
ZUFF! THOSE GLASSES!! 😍😍
Found your channel recently and instantly fell in love with all of you, cant wait to watch more and more amazing videos :D
Rob's singing is underrated! 25:42
this movie deserved more oscars but i guess they didnt take it seriously bc lady gaga was a lead, but then you have movies with actors singing poorly and using autotune and they get all the glory
I watched this on a flight to England and cried so hard my mother had to come ask if I was okay 😅😅 it’s basically Glitter and glitter used to hurt just as much ❤
I couldn't breathe at then end because of how hard i was crying. And the last song always makes me cry
The dog in the movie is Bradley’s real life dog.
Omfg it’s 2am and I’m at work bartending but I literally CANNOT wait to go home to bed, relax and watch this!!!!! Like legit!
i really need to see you guys reacting to "society of the snow", it's one of the most impactful movies i have ever seen in my entire life and it's all based on a true story...
This is the third (maybe fourth?) time A Star is Born has been a movie. It is an excellent story.
When a star in the sky dies that energy often gets used to make new stars. Very poetic title, and great music (the best of all the versions).
People were saying Lady Gaga was over and then they made this movie and Shallow became the most awarded song in history. It just goes to prove that she could rule the world again like she did in 2009-2012, if she just wanted to.
A Star is Born has been told many times but each time is a heartbreaker. I definitely recommend the rest. The 1976 one with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson really lacks in chemistry and is considered to be the worst out of the 4, but in my opinion that one has the best soundtrack and is still well acted by Streisand and Kristofferson. The 1954 one could have been like 45 minutes shorter but Judy Garland and James Mason give wonderfully heartbreaking performances. Everyone seems to forget about the original 1937 one but it’s a good watch.
I absolutely love the ‘37 version, but you cannot go wrong with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. Plus, it’s in color! By now, it’s the simplest of them all, and there’s a certain beauty in that.
You are so right. Sometimes there are moments in movies and tv where you just have to stay silent and watch and take it in.
Rob! Every time you sing with these movies, I swoon!
Great video! They filmed some of the crowd shots at Coachella funnily enough.
I think they jumped in between acts at Cochella or Stagecoach. Same location, different festivals.
Listening to judas at the gym is the only way to go 😂👍🏻
this is my fav movie ever, thankyou for the reaction 😭
Love the reactions, you guys NEED to watch Society of the Snow, it’s such a beautiful movie
23:00 - it was probably prednisone (a corticosteroid). It's often prescribed for inflammation, especially in singers. Helps their vocal cords when they get sick.
I love this movieee 🥲 love you guys ❤️
38:14 lmfao I also have to take my glasses off sometimes when certain scenes are too difficult to watch
Love that you did this one ❤
When I saw it at the movies it was silent at the end with a packed theater….everyone just walked out in silence with tears steaming down their face.
i had a headache after i watched this from crying so hard, whew. that last song killed meee. i just can’t even imagine the feeling of losing a partner like that
The nooses in the beginning…good catch! Didn’t realize that myself
This is literally my go to movie when I need to cry… works every time
22:43 - Yes, it was steroids. Sometimes before a big performance, if you are sick it is “necessary”.
pretty sure they filmed the opening scene during Coachella! so yes, they all were there for a concert 😂
Loved your reaction!
You should definetly watch the society of the snow, it's a great movie and I'm sure you are going to have a lot of interesting things to say about that one
The soundtrack to this movie was awesome
I haven’t watched the film. The reason is I loved the Streisand/ Christpherson version so much. Someone mentioned Cooper’s voice sounded different. He sounded like Christopherson to me (speaking, not singing).
Always Remember Us This Way is easily my favorite track. Maybe in my top 25 since the 2000’s
@23:00 steroids like prednisone and others can help with vocal swelling, but you’re only supposed to use them very briefly
I've never seen this version but please watch the original A Star is Born movie (1937). It made me cry and it has one of my favorite actors in that movie, Fredric March!
All the concerts were live concerts. Only the first couple of rows could hear because they didn’t want the music to get out. Bradley did do his own singing.
I've seen all four versions of this story... it's that good, that relatable... Hollywood has been telling it since 1937. ❤🩹 Cheers to Bradley Cooper's directing of this most recent rendition. 🎬 Many thanks to Rob, Bryce and Zuff!
I think this is a great film and Always Remember Us This Way is the superior song and I’ll stand by that until I die.
There's actually 3 other versions of this movie starring famous leading ladies like judy garland and Barbara.
they filmed a lot of this during Coachella festival in Palm Springs.
Y’all should watch the society of the snow
Loved the reaction 💜
Now I kind of want to hear their opinions of Daisy Jones and The Six 👀
I saw this with my mum at the movies, and she was like we should have brought tissues with us. She didnt cry at all, whilst i was a blubbering mess 😅
I’ve Never Seen This Once But Imma Watch Your Opinions To decide if Imma Watch It😂
I was on a midnight flight and could not sleep, and this movie was in the romcom section so I thought why not let’s give it a go. I was ugly crying while everyone next to me was sleeping and I could not control my crying I started hyperventilating lmao.
This movie makes me cry EVERY time!
The live gig in the first scene of the film is from Stagecoach Festival before Willie Nelson performed. So the audience were all just festival attendees and Bradley/the film crew rocked up to shoot! There were also scenes in the film shot at Coachella and Glastonbury festivals, all with real audiences who just happened to be in attendance on the day. The scene toward the end where Ally is playing the Forum was actually shot at that venue, when Gaga was there during her Joanne World Tour.
You guys are right. All the movie scenes set at a concert where filmed at real concerts. Gaga has said that they would run up on stage for 5-10 minutes between sets. The audience was always confused at first but then got into it.
Just bc no one's mentioned it yet... on Z referring to Bradley Cooper's accent at 5:26 and 11:53, Bradley Cooper said he based it/purposely tried to emulate co-star Sam Elliott's voice. Sam, who plays Bradley's older brother Bobby in the movie, is a veteran actor who is famous for his way of speaking and consequently, having been in many old west/cowboy films and playing Southern characters. For example, one of his most recognizable roles is as Virgil Earp, the oldest brother of Wyatt Earp (played by Kurt Russell) in "Tombstone" (1993).
They filmed the crowd scenes on a festival and the bad part is they couldnt play the actual music - so that is not leaking beforehand
Do society of the snow
NO WAYYY YALL REACTED TO THIS
Great reaction as always! Great film but have you seen the Chris Christopherson Barbra Streisand version. Elvis turned it down so lucky Chris.
Nice to see all your heads with no hat or hood. Nice cuts 😊
please react to society of the snow!!!
I love this movie!
The opening scene was filmed during a performance at the 2017 Glastonbury Festival in a scene that was used for the movie.
Some clarification I think you guys missed. The drag bar has a show every Friday night where the queens dress up like a singer and lip sync their song (Like the Dolly Parton queen). Ally dressed up like the 1940's French caberet singer Edith Piaf and sang her most famous song, La Vie En Rose (Life in Pink). If you google Edith Piaf, she wore her black hair swept up like that.
Brilliant film but truly heartbreaking.
This movie made me cry the first time I saw it especially after losing someone to suicide my uncle who was my dads best friend since they were kids I never seen my dad cry and scream the way he did the day he found out his best friend/brother left this world so when I saw this movie and the suicide scene it hit home hard still does sometimes and I also lost my HS crush/friend to suicide the same year
You guys should watch Society of the snow 🤗🤗🤗
Lmao zuff reminds me of my 7 year old niece just saying any and everything that comes to mind no matter the context
I'm guessing you guys haven't seen the original "A Star is Born" movies starting with the Judy Garland version from 1954, then the Barbara Streisand version from 1976. I have the 3 DVD box set of these films. You should watch the others and compare and contrast them!
y’all should react to monster (2023) such an amazing film!!
from what i've heard Brad's singing shows were actually Lady Gaga's shows. They'd announce it to the crowd etc so everyone knew what was happening.
It's the 3 time this movie has been remade and everytime it gets nominated for best song and it wins the Oscar everytime
One of my favorites
The festival scenes were recorded at real festivals, Bradley would play during their breaks. But their music wouldn’t play on the speakers so that the songs wouldn’t leak
