Please please react to their performance of Shiloh at the Grammy awards or for another treat react to the Lady Gaga concert that brats watching from the front row and she brings him up on stage to sing shallow! They just killed it!!!!
It continues to amaze me that this movie didn't get the Oscars that it deserved. It's such an amazing accomplishment for a first time director: big concert scenes, a whole album of original songs, a first-time movie actress, and Cooper turned himself into a singer.
Probably because it was the fourth time this movie had been made. And it was closer to the version that Barbara Streisand starred in,in the 1970's version. Lady Gaga had already been in Sin City 2.
It was great movie, but the fact that it was the fourth version of this story, and that it was up against Bohemian Rhapsody also didn’t help. It’s likely why Bradley didn’t get an Oscar.
When I saw this in theaters during premiere week, at the last seen where Gaga looks directly into the camera and then the film ends…the theater was so silent, except for the sounds of sniffling and heavy breathing. Walking out of the theater, everyone was wiping their tears away. Such an impactful movie with an emotional ending.
During the filming of the last song Lady Gaga learned her friend,Sonja Durham, was dying so she left the set and tried to make it to see her friend. After she went back and performed the scene
Rob, you are so right, like I know she is THE Lady Gaga but I feel like she still doesn't get the recognition she deserves for having one of the most beautiful voices there is. Love this movie and Love the reaction you guys are the best ♥
The line "I just wanted to take another look at you," is a constant through all four versions of this story. The phraseology changes a bit from film to film, but it's there each time. It was a song in the 1977 version.
I agree. Gary Oldman is a fantastic actor but I do feel there were better roles he should've won the Oscar for as well. For me, this should've been Bradley's year as well.
@@Michael-wx7dr Oh gosh totally right! I was focusing on the year it came out and totally forgot the nomination would've been the following year 🙈🤣 Oh well I agree even more with the comment on Bradley, Rami was OK but not Oscar worthy for me tbh
I remember watching this for the first time with my mom and I was crying so bad, especially after learning that Lady Gaga's friend passed away before the last scene :( Rip Sonja 🫶
This is one reaction that I didn’t know that I needed, but now it will forever hold a special place in my heart. This was my best friend’s favorite movie, and seeing you all truly enjoy it brings a tear to my eye! Lizzie loved your channel, and she would’ve loved this reaction. Thank you for being here ❤
That opening concert scene was actually filmed during a real concert - they piggy-backed in on an existing concert. the audience are not actors! amazing.
People still love to shit on Gaga and say she some dimensional. This is her lead debut in a movie. DEBUT. She was only a cameo here and there but this was the first time she truly acted for a movie (outside of American horror story but that’s TV). She ate this UP
this is actually a good remake 👍🏼 gaga slayed also, the movie was filmed at multiple music festivals in between actual sets! so the crowds and audio is very real which is super dope
People were saying Lady Gaga was over and then they made this movie and Shallow became the most awarded song in history. It just goes to prove that she could rule the world again like she did in 2009-2012, if she just wanted to.
This is the third remake of this movie and in my opinion it’s the best version of this movie. The chemistry between Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga is off the charts. I’m so happy y’all watched this movie. Just going to leave my weekly plea for Good Omens here. Thanks guys!
This is the *fourth* remake of this particular story. The main one people really remember is the 1954 one, starring Judy Garland and James Mason - but the 1976 version with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristoffersen is also good, even though it didn't get good reviews at the time. The very first version hails from 1937 with Frederic March and Janet Gaynor - I love Frederic March especially Wonderful actor! It's really interesting to watch all of these films and see how the versions compare/contrast - like, what parts of the story are developed or focused on, what is left out - there isn't one definitive version (although I think the 1954 one is the best). It's almost like each generation needs to revisit the themes of this story - and I really like that idea! - it's like how every generation needs to revisit Hamlet or something, and new actors take the role and bring their own thing to it. I love that Bradley Cooper chose this well-known story to explore eternal ideas about relationships and art and success.
23:00 - it was probably prednisone (a corticosteroid). It's often prescribed for inflammation, especially in singers. Helps their vocal cords when they get sick.
i had a headache after i watched this from crying so hard, whew. that last song killed meee. i just can’t even imagine the feeling of losing a partner like that
Not even done with the reaction but had to come down and say that me and Rob are mind melding on the fact that “You’re Music to My Eyes” is my favorite song on the soundtrack! ❤️
when I was in high school and I was going through my first ever break up my mom, let me skip school the next day due to how distraught I was. She saiid ‘cmon let’s go see a movie’ and took me to this thinking it would be a Lady Gaga musical . Let’s just say it did not help.
This is the third (maybe fourth?) time A Star is Born has been a movie. It is an excellent story. When a star in the sky dies that energy often gets used to make new stars. Very poetic title, and great music (the best of all the versions).
I watched this on a flight to England and cried so hard my mother had to come ask if I was okay 😅😅 it’s basically Glitter and glitter used to hurt just as much ❤
i really need to see you guys reacting to "society of the snow", it's one of the most impactful movies i have ever seen in my entire life and it's all based on a true story...
this movie deserved more oscars but i guess they didnt take it seriously bc lady gaga was a lead, but then you have movies with actors singing poorly and using autotune and they get all the glory
hay the first time I watch this movie i was a mess I cried sobbing and having flashbacks of my pass and the songs and some scenes kinda match my life and the ending made feel release the pain iv'e hold back and let out with passion 😢 so your not alone if u have suicide attention like jack please never do that
I was on a midnight flight and could not sleep, and this movie was in the romcom section so I thought why not let’s give it a go. I was ugly crying while everyone next to me was sleeping and I could not control my crying I started hyperventilating lmao.
All the concerts were live concerts. Only the first couple of rows could hear because they didn’t want the music to get out. Bradley did do his own singing.
I haven’t watched the film. The reason is I loved the Streisand/ Christpherson version so much. Someone mentioned Cooper’s voice sounded different. He sounded like Christopherson to me (speaking, not singing).
I've seen all four versions of this story... it's that good, that relatable... Hollywood has been telling it since 1937. ❤🩹 Cheers to Bradley Cooper's directing of this most recent rendition. 🎬 Many thanks to Rob, Bryce and Zuff!
A Star is Born has been told many times but each time is a heartbreaker. I definitely recommend the rest. The 1976 one with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson really lacks in chemistry and is considered to be the worst out of the 4, but in my opinion that one has the best soundtrack and is still well acted by Streisand and Kristofferson. The 1954 one could have been like 45 minutes shorter but Judy Garland and James Mason give wonderfully heartbreaking performances. Everyone seems to forget about the original 1937 one but it’s a good watch.
I absolutely love the ‘37 version, but you cannot go wrong with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. Plus, it’s in color! By now, it’s the simplest of them all, and there’s a certain beauty in that.
You guys are right. All the movie scenes set at a concert where filmed at real concerts. Gaga has said that they would run up on stage for 5-10 minutes between sets. The audience was always confused at first but then got into it.
The festival scenes were recorded at real festivals, Bradley would play during their breaks. But their music wouldn’t play on the speakers so that the songs wouldn’t leak
I've never seen this version but please watch the original A Star is Born movie (1937). It made me cry and it has one of my favorite actors in that movie, Fredric March!
The live gig in the first scene of the film is from Stagecoach Festival before Willie Nelson performed. So the audience were all just festival attendees and Bradley/the film crew rocked up to shoot! There were also scenes in the film shot at Coachella and Glastonbury festivals, all with real audiences who just happened to be in attendance on the day. The scene toward the end where Ally is playing the Forum was actually shot at that venue, when Gaga was there during her Joanne World Tour.
This movie is so good but it brings back bad memories. My ex husband was like this he passed away at 39 from cirrhosis. Being married to him was like this. Sometimes i didn’t know where he was, he passed out in bushes, he’d fall hurt himself and I’d find him bleeding on the floor. I wanted to like this movie cause it’s so good and i love the original as well, but it’s so hard to watch😢
Just bc no one's mentioned it yet... on Z referring to Bradley Cooper's accent at 5:26 and 11:53, Bradley Cooper said he based it/purposely tried to emulate co-star Sam Elliott's voice. Sam, who plays Bradley's older brother Bobby in the movie, is a veteran actor who is famous for his way of speaking and consequently, having been in many old west/cowboy films and playing Southern characters. For example, one of his most recognizable roles is as Virgil Earp, the oldest brother of Wyatt Earp (played by Kurt Russell) in "Tombstone" (1993).
Someone probably mentioned this already, but the concert audience was actually filled with real concert goers, not actors. They filmed those scenes at Lady Gaga concerts, and they had to tell everyone to put their Gaga signs down🤣
The live crowds were actually real! Bradley was allowed on stage at coachella for the opening scene and the later festival crowds are from Glastonbury where he went on during Kris Kristofferson's set who previously played the role of Jackson in the 70's version of a star is born. So no actors or extras in the crowd! all the music was filmed live in front of real audiences!
Some clarification I think you guys missed. The drag bar has a show every Friday night where the queens dress up like a singer and lip sync their song (Like the Dolly Parton queen). Ally dressed up like the 1940's French caberet singer Edith Piaf and sang her most famous song, La Vie En Rose (Life in Pink). If you google Edith Piaf, she wore her black hair swept up like that.
Loved your reaction! You should definetly watch the society of the snow, it's a great movie and I'm sure you are going to have a lot of interesting things to say about that one
Great reaction as always! Great film but have you seen the Chris Christopherson Barbra Streisand version. Elvis turned it down so lucky Chris. Nice to see all your heads with no hat or hood. Nice cuts 😊
I suspect it would be very difficult to date Lady Gaga. Thats not to say shes in any way a bad person, in fact I'd say shes a way above average person. She actually actively contributes to charity, a LOT. But she was always going to be famous, and that life is not for everyone. I like to stay at home with my piano, and maybe its a bummer because ive written some bangers but no one will ever hear them because they arent for you. But so it was and here we are.
