We know Joost all the people who are his fans, or at least try to find out who is is… knows he is being badly portrayed. Not once one other person stood up, and said Joost did this to me too, when, not once. As usually happens when a person is found to assault someone. That’s telling in it self.
Unfortunately, it seems like the ESC is slipping from a cultural event to trash TV, where the most emotional moments are the ones that should be filmed the most and bring in the most money. Or it is even desirable to amplify such moments or even provoke them out of nowhere to get the "best content" 😔

After hearing what avrotros said, I don’t think he deserved to be DQ (if it’s true but I don’t see why they would lie atp) I don’t even understand why the police would be involved ngl😭
Hard to say. On one hand, I've seen Joost live a couple of times and he really doesn't seem to be the kind of person who would do what he is being accused of. According to AVROTROS he had repeatedly asked not to be filmed immediately after exiting the stage as the last 20 seconds of the song are quite emotional for him and he's usually in tears when exiting the stage. According to AVROTROS the photographer in question had been filming him when he exited the stage during the dress rehearsals (after being asked not to) and was there after the semi-finals performance as well, again filming Joost. In other words, she knew that he didn't want to be filmed, yet did it anyway. I can sort of understand that Joost snapped when he spotted her again filming him. But...! We only have AVROTROS' side of the story. We don't know what happened yet, as the EBU only publicly stated that they disagree with AVROTROS' explanation (but not give an explanation of their own). Joost has been in radio silence since Friday afternoon (I imagine he is advised to do so by AVROTROS' legal team) so we haven't heard his side yet. The photographer refuses any comment, and wouldn't even sit in a meeting with Joost and the EBU to talk things over and let Joost apologise. The only party who have responded, is the Malmö police. A spokesperson told the media that they have a strong case against Joost because there were quite a few witnesses. They wouldn't answer if the incident is on video. What "the incident" is exactly, is also pretty unclear. Sweden has very strict anti-intimidation laws. Even a raised fist could be seen as violating those laws (according to Dutch media at least), so what is basically the Dutch way of communicating in traffic is an offence in Sweden... We don't know what Joost allegedly did, other than "make a threatening gesture without actually touching the photographer" (AVROTROS' statement) or "smashing the photographer's camera/smartphone" (Swedish tabloid newspaper Aftonbladet). both sources are unreliable - AVROTROS because they are a party in the incident, and Aftonbladet because... well... it's a tabloid that will print anything if it means they'll sell more papers. We'll know in a few weeks when the investigation is over and the trial starts (or is thrown out). Until then, Joost is innocent until proven guilty.
I find it frightening that EBU regularly invites countless people to various countries without apparently being able or willing to protect their guests properly, as these guests can hardly be familiar with all the laws of the host country. No, this is not a license for bad behaviour. But that a host can't protect a guest with things like a threatening gesture in an extremely stressful situation? Especially when the host has already failed to protect this guest's privacy beforehand. I would have thought that as a guest you should feel safe. But there seem to have been a lot of gaps uncovered this year 😔
@@heroicnonsenseOf course these camerapeople stood by her side, 🙄and it doesn't take much to get the police interested, especially if you have a story that's juicy enough.
