Without the soundtrack i probably would have stopped playing the game due to long walking distances. The music just ties the gameplay mechanics and the atmosphere together so perfectly.
There are very few gaming moments that stay with your for the rest of your life. Standing on Conflux Mountain, watching the sunrise, listening to this song, get shivers down my spine from the sheer beauty of it. Thank you for this experience.
I have this small tradition of staying at the top of Conflux Mountain for one whole night, without sleeping. I just take the time to appreciate it all.
I honestly dont think ive played a game that has perfectly captured the sense of adventure and exploration as this game does in idk over a decade prolly. Like I wanna say Skyrim but honestly that doesn't cut it. Closest one is prolly morrowing first play through on original Xbox. I I doubt I'll ever find another game that replicates the feeling, the shivers pr goosebumps. Just bought 3 brothers on ps4 super stoked to try it out.
@@Majai33 Wow. That's EXACTLY what I feel. Morrowind was magic on my old dusty xbox. I sunk hundreds of hours into that game with no strategy guide since it was before those were so accessible. I finally played Outward 6 months ago and went in completely blind with no guidance and spent 120 hrs doing the Blue Chamber Collective story line. It was heaven bro. Just like Morrowind all those years ago. Brings a tear to me eye, it does! haha
@@Go4Broke247 How about seeing reviews, stumbling upon the gameplay or elsewhere? Accusing in advance without knowing any better makes your "Lmao" bullshit dumb as fuck and any parody justification null and void.
This song is very dear to me. I remember walking out of the town gates for the first time and feel in awe of my own childish joy and desire for adventure. I was going trhough a very hard time, and this took me back to brighter days, and that feeling stayed with me for very long. I even wrote a mail to Mr. Racine at the time. I truly believe his work stirred something in me that I had forgotten, and that saved me. Thank you.
Its rare to hear something that sounds unique. This song feels almost nostalgic, like a almost forgotten Nintendo 64 title you played for one day as a kid.
Not played Outward in about a few months now ever since I got my Steam Account hacked, but I got the game back recently, might have to play it again soon just for the soundtrack alone, because damn is this good!
Just wanted to come in here and comment about this wonderful soundtrack you have composed. When that huge high notes come in every time I'm exploring in this region, it just screams ADVENTURE! Wonderful job on the game all around from music to gameplay ideas/mechanics. Huge fan already.
This is the first time i actually looked up the soundtrack to a game. I had to, cause its incredible! When this song comes on i really feel a sense of adventure and its a real morale boost on the longer journeys in the game!
This is by far my favorite "into the world" compositions i've heard in a game. Truly innocent and optimistic stepping into the world, unaware of the dangers ahead.
I bought the game and i started it dying ssveral times at the beginning. I was so mad and i was ready to uninstall it, when i heard this song in game and it gave me the strength to continue and to believe in me. Awesome.
The absolute pop off at 3:23 gets my blood flowing with the thrill of adventure every time! Your musical contribution to this game makes all the waking around you end up doing bearable haha
This song is amazing. I really enjoy to explore chersonese again... Big Game, and Big sound :) Thanks for this... I can dream in outward just close my eyes and listen...
I almost always turn game music off but this song, when it hits the crescendo near the end I can't help but feel completely immersed in the song. It almost over takes the stage of the game and the music just lifts you up and takes to a new high. This song embodies the game and theme so well, but also is an amazing piece of writing on its own. I hope you read all these comments and feel extremely proud of your creation.
I've got it, lads and ladies. This song sounds like sailing the sea in an old timey boat. Like one of those Viking ones. The drones at the beginning are being disheartened from being swept out of sight of land, the pipes in the middle are handing out handfuls of olives to eat and the transition at 2:50 or so is "destination sighted", and putting your backs to the oars! The triumph of survival against the ocean, of achieving your goal!
I had do many issues with this game, but the soundtrack was not one of them. It was absolutely gorgeous, and this track was a favourite. It has such a fantastic "I'm going on an adventure" vibe.
I have never played this game and this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. The sense of adventure, the mystery, the build up, the conclusion. Masterful work at every turn. I want to cry every time the horns do their thing and the strings and drums backing them up is perfection. What a beautiful composition. Jean-francois, I've followed you on sound loud and love the soundtracks you've done - what other projects of yours can I look up?
J’en ai eu les larmes aux yeux en écoutant ce morceau. Une telle ode à l’aventure, à la liberté, cela me rappelle les plus belles compositions de Gothic 3. Merci
I really hated this game in the beginning, the only that kept me going was this song. 20 hours in, gf and I finally got used to this clunky ass game and eventough we sometimes feel, that the combat should be overhauled, we can't help but think it's intentionally designed this way. I've never disliked a game so much and changed my opinion about it equally much after a certain amount of time. I'm super glad we sticked to it and forced ourselves to play it. The game is a blast (but really, REALLY not for everyone) and the soundtrack is amazing. Thank you for your work, this is truly amazing.
The soundtrack is incredible. How Jean-Francois managed to blend so many different global music styles is no mean feat, then to make the songs speak about the experiences? Just wow, that takes real passion and I think he was having fun with the challenge. This song still gives me shivers and I must have heard it 100 times roaming around the starting area
I like the fact that you have a sinister beginning with happy adventure like music afterwards and then sinster paranoia music again in the middle parts
I like game soundtracks, e.g. Gothic, Titan Quest etc... But this is a great soundtrack! I would love to find it on Spotify ;-) And it's really great for a game like Outward. Thank you :)
No other song could ever induce such a great reaction within me. I simply can't describe the feeling of nostalgia that i get from the song. It is just the deepest sorrow about the time when i was new to the game. A sense of adventure, discovery, confusion and sheer happiness mixed in one moment. This game is truly amazing.
I love this soundtrack, I jingle it 🎶 in my mind even in my work. Is a great game, awesome music, one of the best split 📺 screen (local coop). I play this with my wife and we love it. God bless this guys that put time and effort to bring us a good game.
This music made me feel like i'm in a fantasy world, seriously when i first played this game walking around the town and this music in the background is the best thing ever!
The feeling of playing with my brother, from being weak enough to get beat up by some ugly looking bugs, to having such good teamwork that nothing stands in our way. This game is really beutiful. It made my childhood, and I'm sure it made the childhood of many others too. Playing this back on console with my brother, and reaching the top of conflux mountain while watching the sun set... is a feeling that I cannot describe. But that adventure was then, and now, I'm willing to start a new one this time, with my brother, for the good times. Thank you.
I haven't played this game in ages but I saw a playthrough of it appear on my home page. The first thing that came to my mind at seeing that was this music. Starts off sounding quite eerie and foreboding but becomes quite beautiful.
fantasy, tribal setting, choir and there is that moment in the song that reminds me of the movie Willow, that kind of energy, adventure! I definitely can't explain "This was a music I'd never heard" Antonio Salieri - Movie Amadeus
Honestly this entire soundtrack is amazing and probably the best feature of the game. I use it as background music during my Pathfinder games! :) Merci beaucoup pour cette musique!
on my first time in outward this song felt like it was way too epic for just a walk in the field, then the calm walk became an adventure that not many games can match, yes, it fits very well now
This is one of my all time favourite game soundtracks. Fantastic work on the composition , you are a very talented artist. Thank you for giving the world your work.
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH! brings back memories of an amazing summer over lockdown I spent playing this and sea of thieves with freinds and my dog which i'd go out and sunbathe with inbetween gaming sessions. He passed away last year and it really broke my heart but atleast i have all these memories to remeber him by. ❤❤ Love to all of you out there and i wish you many adventures and happy trails!
