Early-Season Muskies! CAST-BACK MAGIC! S7.E06

- As a thunderstorm approached I fished excitedly as I imagined that anything I threw at the muskies would likely be destroyed! I cast my 500 Buchertail tinsel and burned it in quickly to cover as much water as possible but, as I worked an area where I had raised one earlier, I was met with only a lazy follow. With the dropping barometric pressure I was surprised that I had not had the classic "smashing" strike that can happen under these conditions. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and snapped on a baby ShallowRaider. It was time to make my "own action" and trigger a strike from a reluctant fish. A few twitches and pauses later and I was HOOKED UP!
In this episode you will see the cast-back decision in real time as well as a detailed analysis of what led to the decision to deploy the ShallowRaider. It’s an awesome episode and I really hope you enjoy it! Thank you for watching!

Awesome early season musky in the net. The Shallow Raider is hard to beat, when they follow and don't want to eat. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks so much James! Yes - right on!! The baby SR is hard to beat early season. More on the way!
NICE FISH" HOT TIPS!!! THANX 5 POSTING! jd
You are DA MAN JD!!! Thanks so much man!
I’m a bass guy but love your videos, used to float the upper James river in Virginia when I was a kid throwing top water for smallmouth and about once or twice per trip someone would hook a musky. It actually changed the gear we used because we were tired of losing our lures and the musky! Sometimes I consider getting into musky fishing, but I know me and I’ll be obsessed and my wife will hate me 😂
LOLLLL!!!! This is an amazing post hahaha. Thank you for sharing! Well….i think you should get into Muskie fishing. Blame it on me 😉
Absolutely great fish and great tactic👌
Thanks Rodman! Hard to beat the cast back with a baby SR!
Good stuff!
Thanks Scott!!!
Good points on smaller lures. A week i had my smaller setup and at sunrise they were hitting my 1oz diamond jigs and tins
Thanks so much!! Yes, it’s amazing how downsizing the lure size can really trigger strikes from big fish!
